The tofu is cut into small cubes, so it was difficult to see, but in essence, everything was cut to the same size and therefore all bites weren't awkward. Traditional elote is made with cotija and not goat cheese like the SG bowl but the goat cheese added an unexpected, welcomed tang to the greens. My friend ordered the guacamole greens with chicken and he finished his bowl way ahead of me. This place gets super busy for lunch. Seating is limited so take it to go or designate someone to puppy guard the dine-in seats. Really no other complaints. We tried Saladworks and liked it, thought it was 4-star worthy (still do) but now that we've discovered Sweetgreen...well, let's put it this way---it's better than Saladworks! Really better! We went on a Sunday around 5 p.m. and there was only one person ahead of us in line. Since we looked at their menu online, we had a good idea of what we wanted to order. Ordering was easy---just go to the counter (the opposite end from the register), tell the clerk if you're having a salad or a wrap and if it is for here or to go. It's best to start off with the lettuce mix you want, then the vegetables, protein(s) and the crunch. Finally, pick your dressing. After that, pick your drink. We both choose the make your own salad option. I had mesclun, grape tomatoes, edamame, radishes, roasted tofu, garlic pita chips and sunflower seeds. For my dressing, I had miso sesame vinaigrette. One thing they do that I really like --- when it comes to the dressing, they ask if you want it on your salad light, medium or heavy. I chose a medium amount. Then a slice of bread is put on top of it all. My husband made his own salad, too. He had romaine lettuce, cauliflower, beets, radishes, cannellini beans, cranberries and carrots plus miso sesame vinaigrette dressing. We both just loved our salads! The ingredients are all fresh and very flavorful. We both agreed that the dressing was tasty without overpowering the entire salad. The bread was sooo good! We couldn't tell what it was---only that we liked it. So, before leaving, we asked the clerk what it was. He said it was buckwheat bread. For drinks, we both had cranberry apple lemonade. Of the three lemonades available, it was the most mainstream. One lemonade had cucumber and ginger---it may well taste good but for us anyway, it seemed a little too unusual. The dining area is small, spare and very clean. The piped-in music ranged from 70s to present day stuff. It all came to $19.08. Obviously not the cheapest salads around but certainly you get what you pay for---fresh, flavorful, locally grown produce. Well worth the price, IMO. I've gotten a salad here 6-7 times thus far. Lots of fresh ingredients. I love that I can "build my own" salad and specify which ingredients go into the salad! (When I say "build my own" I mean tell them what goes into my salad!). I usually get a mix of baby spinach, arugula, and some other leafy green, plus red radishes, bell pepper, cucumber, cilantro, sprouts, avocado, pecans, red onion, feta cheese, bacon, freshly cracked black pepper, and their jalapeño citrus vinaigrette dressing. This is my kind'a place. There is a huge blackboard inside with a list of all the sourced local, fresh ingredients inside. They have about 4-5 different sets of greens as the base and also have quinoa and other warm mix-ins. I chose to go with the Fish Taco bowl - roasted steelhead, shredded cabbage, cilantro, tortilla chips, warm quinoa, organic arugula, sweetgreen hot sauce, lime cilantro jalapeno vinaigrette. Really light and delicious - the lime cilantro jalapeño vinaigrette was great. This is a minimal place - they don't have tons of other things on the menu or drinks or sides. It is what it is. They have a few teas and a lemonade and water. Minimal decor and plain wood tables for seating. But it was really good and the staff were super friendly while I agonized over the menu and answered all my questions. I would for sure com back here for a salad. Bought 4 salads yesterday and was so disappointed. I've been a regular at SG and these salads were awful. The server asked if I wanted a squeeze of lime, which is supposed to be standard in the kale caesar. They were mostly greens (few tomatoes and very little parmesan) and I don't think they used the correct dressing. The only reason I'm giving a 4 star instead of 5 is for customer service. Most people seem very unhappy and don't want to take your order. They seem frustrated and didn't want to be there. My coworkers and I have been on a sweetgreen binge since we were introduced and I think we've ordered salads for lunch 3 days in a row this week alone. Our unanimous fave is the garden cob with respective modifications. We love the veggie freshness and everything that you can swap or add to your bowl. The balsamic vinaigrette just adds the right acidity and sweetness, it's so good. I'm also super excited to try the plates in the next few weeks as we embark on a healthy work lunch habit. My weight has gone up since weaning my baby and I sure could use more healthy greens in my daily intake and around 10/bowl it's definitely worth the money. I've been to this location as well as the Crystal City location and they're both great. Decor is simplistic/contemporary - think stainless steel and wood. I have to say the service here is great too. I stopped by for lunch today with the line almost out the door but the crew handled it like champs. Being in the Reston Town Center, this location gets packed around lunchtime from all of the business men and women in the area. Despite the long line, it only took about 5-10 minutes to get through the line and back out the door. Just a PSA though: be careful with their "premium ingredients."
