Wonderful experience. Swanson's has a great variety of plants as well supplied and toys. They went all out for the seasons. Spared no expense. The live rain deer were very unexpected and the enclosed area was very well kept. I also was very surprised by the model train Star Wars village. There was great attention to detail. Again no expense was spared here. They also had multiple moving moving prices. Great place to bring children. As a side note. Prices are very high. read more

I feel like this nursery is the Hollywood of nurseries! Super glam and clean. There are nursery workers around every corner to help you get to the correct section of plants! We ended up with some fun Hoya and a beautiful Turtle vine! Very pleased with the plant health. Checking out was a breeze with their Covid safe setup! Thanks Swansons! read more

Swansons Nursery - Great plants from Swanson Nursery. - Nurseries & Gardening Near Me - Seattle, Washington

Have been shopping at Swansons for years. I loved stopping by for lunch when the restaurant was in full operation, and happy to see they are starting up baking in house some items again. Prices for plants and containers can be high, compared to big box stores. However, the help from the staff makes the visit worth while. Everything well worth visiting, except for my last two visits. Different cashiers, but same weird offer and nosey question. Both times I am paying and the cashier asks me while I am paying, in a flat tone, "and will you be taking advantage of our senior discount today"? I have seen the sign they have at the cashiers desk promoting senior discounts, so weird that they verbalize the offer. When I smile and tell them, "I am not a senior (by 12 years), but I'll take the discount if you think I am one". Of course kidding, trying to make light of an awkward situation. Here is the question both cashiers then ask me, "well, how old are you then"? Both times I told them, "old enough to know better than to ask such a personal question that is none of my business ". They got really quite and flatly hand me my receipt. Swansons- if you are asking your staff to point out to senior the discount- this is what two different cashiers are doing to make it weird. read more

Such a wonderful place to visit! I would say it's like Molbaks on steroids. Beautiful layout, awesome plants and gifts and the staff is amazing! Some of their items were a bit on the spendy side but that's to be expected at a local nursery. Definitely worth checking out if you're ever in the area. read more

Welcome to the Disneyland of plant shopping. Recently made the transition from an apartment to an actual house and boy- what they don't tell you is that you'll want to now spend hundreds of dollars on plants. Swanson's to the rescue with their planter boxes and vegetables to give you hope that you can grow your own food. We also came home with a Chardonnay wine vine (cough, cough grapes for normal people) and a ton of indoor plants that I am trying to all keep alive now. Soooooo much selection, you won't know where to start first. All of the employees we chatted with were super friendly and helped guide our confused looking faces the right way. Wish me luck! read more

We are so lucky to have Swanson's in our life. I have attached the pictures of our yard below of the raspberries, apple and quince trees. They have so many options here, and are well organized. Alexa's cafe is the perfect oasis to visit while getting on your green thumb. We miss the knowledgable staff and can't wait to come back! read more

Review review...has a coffeeshop inside, decent price on planting essentials - definitely cheaper than their competitor. Most of the nursery's focus is in outdoor gardening but they have a small section of indoor plants adjacent to the coffee shop. I enjoy collecting aroids in particular so it was pretty exciting to see a variety of indoor plants in display, then pretty much got disappointed because theyre mostly the same stuff you'll expect from other plant shops in Seattle, pretty boring. Not a negative, but would have expected a larger scale plant shop to have more variety, even rarity, actually. I mean boring's not bad if you're settling down. So yay. CUTE CAFE though. Had to give stars for the cafe and the vibe. Another noticeable thing was that the price of plants were difficult to pin down as some plants are way overpriced than other plants if compared to bigger box stores. Eg. Monsteras sold here were double the price. I dont think they know.... But then you see Alocasia pollies for a cheaper price than average. The pricing here is all over the place. Come prepared. tldr; Nice place. Wanted consistency in pricing and indoor plant variety. Nice visit for family-focused people. Bring your grandmother or whatever I'm sure she'll like the KOI POND in the CAFE. Then maybe she'll buy you an overpriced macrame hanger in their boujee section, lol. read more

Plant heaven! I absolutely love getting my indoor plants here especially when they have 30% off indoor plant sales. I definitely do not have a green thumb and the employees at info desk at the nursery gave me great advice on how to not kill my plants. They have tons of paper material to take home on tips and tricks gardening, watering, etc. Lots of parking spots, huge space so you'll most likely find the exact plant you're looking for. I followed their instagram after learning about a contest they were having during the holidays. Each post with a certain hashtag donated to a charity so of course I posted, and surprisingly won! Got a nice goodie bag from Swanson's and I loved that they used their social media platform to help the community. Get all your plants here! read more

Picture yourself at an outdoor mall with every amenity you could ever want...save the expectation that the mall is outdoor themed and heavy on greenery/trees/CO2 scrubbers (of the natural type.) Maybe you've got a 98 year old grandpa who loves creeping vines. Or a two year old who loves sewer grates? Both will be satisfied at Swansons. Last point, do not sleep on the food court situation. While at many malls this is a survival tactic, it would be your greatest mistake to skip the culinary experience. Order a sandwich and eat is slowly. The koi will appreciate your presence. read more

Swanson's is just absolutely breathtaking. I hadn't ever been a plant person, mostly afraid of killing plants, but I was able to get help and get started with really easy and more importantly beautiful plants to get started. They have a wonderful selection and helpful staff to get started. I was able to get the most beautiful pots and plants. I can now say that I am completely addicted to having such beautiful plants at home. read more

Swanson's is a lovely nursery with an expansive selection of outdoor and indoor plants. It's a pretty well oiled machine during the holidays, it seems, too. We went last weekend, which was our first time there. Since it was a weekend, it was crowded. We lucked out and got a parking spot right away, but the lot seems small, especially for accommodating the holiday crowds. It's nice they have some reindeer and a couple of times a day, a handler tells people about them and lets kids feed them treats. It was interesting, but also kind of a shit show. Obviously there are tons of kids, and the space is not that large, but the issue was tall parents in the way of people holding really littles. Get a clue, dad. They have a cafe in one of the inside buildings, and a lovely koi pond, where no joke, some of the fish let kids pet them. This area is also where santa is and even though he's booked solid for the next six years, they do take walk ins, and we didn't have to wait long. The only downside there is the room is small and very full of people and I think that made a lot of kids anxious. Not ours, she straight up just didn't like jolly old Saint Nick. Maybe next year. The cafe had a menu of hot drinks and pastries. I went to order hot apple cider, but they were out. It was too late for coffee for me, and I can't have dairy and their hot chocolate isn't dairy free. While we waited for our Santa photos, we went in search of our Christmas tree. We went through the other indoor building which had nice displays of holiday decorations. The trees are neatly displayed by size and browsing through I about died looking at the price tags. There were no trees over 4 feet tall under $100. Nope. Pass. I'm sorry, but a tree that will die in a month is not worth $180. We passed on a tree from Swanson's. I will have to check out the nursery when it isn't the holidays. For this time of year, one visit was plenty and it was really just meh. read more

When I want to treat myself, I make a trip to Swanson's. LOL! They have a huge selection or indoor and outdoor plants and I always leave with SOMETHING. Their staff is tremendously knowledgeable and helpful! And even when they don't know something, they will offer to take your name/number down so that they can find out and call you back. How awesome is that? That's excellent customer service right there. They also have a café which serves food, small pastries and drinks in one of the buildings that houses the indoor plants. There's even a pond with huge Koi fish. How could you not be happy here? read more

This place s awesome! Wonderful selection of plants and trees. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable

I ordered two lemonades , one coffee . I came here with one 8 year old and one 3 year old. The two lemonades were for two kids three coffee was for me. WE were looking at the koi pond and suddenly my older one accidentally dropped his lemonade . I was trying to figure out what to do next ( such I as planning to tell the cafe barista that there was a spilled lemonade by us ) with in 1 minute one Swanson's worker came and started wiping that area and kept shouting " see it's not that difficult " . She wAnted to make sure we all hear it . Hence this review . That cafe at Swanson need to hire ppl who are willing to work in service industry . read more

Now that we are FINALLY starting to see weather that is a reasonable facsimile of Spring, I was persuaded to go plant shopping with 'She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed'. I'm not a great fan of visits to nurseries, as I'm not really a 'plant guy'. The words of Arthur Wellesley, the Duke of Wellington, come to mind: at the height of the Battle of Waterloo, when another officer offhandedly commented on the quality of beans grown at a nearby farm, Wellington is said to have tersely replied, "If there is one thing of which I know positively nothing, sir, it is agriculture". That said, Swanson's Nursery is a surprisingly painless place to visit. THE ROSES: Deceptively large parking lot, with attendants to direct traffic on busy days. Good selection of plants and accessories. Best of all, Swanson's is the best-staffed nursery I have ever visited; the place was downright overrun with friendly and knowledgeable staff. This is the one nursery we visited where we didn't have to hunt for staffers. THE THORNS: Located in the middle of a residential neighborhood, this can be a tricky place to find and access. THE VERDICT: Great selection, reasonable prices, and best of all lots of staff who know what they're talking about make Swanson's Nursery a great place to go for your gardening needs. Strongly recommend. read more

I loved visiting this nursery - they have a great layout of indoor vs outdoor varietals and helpful and friendly employees abound! I came here looking for some fall plants and was impressed by the sheer amount of product they had available for planting right now! I always figured fall was not a good time to be plant shopping but I was wrong! Swanson's does a fall plant sale where everything I was looking for was 30% off - how convenient! Colorful annuals are up front when you enter, indoor plants are in their greenhouse section, fall flowers, shrubs, etc are out in back, and bulbs are all right next to the checkout. I thought I was going to make a quick trip with only two plants in mind, but I ended up taking home one plant and several ideas for what I want to do with my garden! I will return once I have a drawn-up plan for how I want it to look! read more

I am such a fan of this fancy schmancy nursery. I typically go around the holidays because they are festive. They have Christmas trees for sale, hot cocoa, trains, and even reindeer (that part breaks my heart but I am hoping every other day of the year those reindeer have more than a 10x10 cage). Warning: the place gets busy around the holidays, it's cold out so dress appropriately, and the cafe treats go quickly. Aside from Christmas tree shopping, I've been for a few outdoor items and to an orchid show. All the staff have been really friendly. I've been able to find all the items I need. There's always parking. I definitely recommend visiting if you garden or want to take the kiddos to pick out a tree. You may not find anything for purchase but it's fun to peruse. Prices seem a little high but I am comparing to Texas, as I haven't been to other nurseries in Seattle. read more

The best plant nursery in the northwest by far! I love this place- They have a wide variety of plants from different types of Herbs to Exotic Flowers, even Eucalyptus trees! It's really fun to walk around on a sunny day and just enjoy how pretty the blooms are. Inside, they have a unique gift shop and an Organic Cafe. They also have an indoor Koi Pond/ Tropical waterfall area you can sit by while you drink your coffee! It is slightly more expensive than your average Plant Nursery, but they really do carry it all and the staff are very helpful, so I think that balances out the prices. The yard decor/ furniture is extremely pricey though. Even the ceramic pots were imported and more high-end. read more

Comments, reviews and other notes around talked about how they had exotic orchids and plants, but Orchids were less than the selection at Home Depot or grocery store. No Bonsai either. 2 hour drive for huge disappointment! read more

Found this place after reading about it on a local Seattle blog and SO GLAD I DID! The displays were inspiring and creative, and when I spoke with people they were super helpful and friendly. I have just moved to Seattle from NC so it is a little intimidating to think about how I will have to change my gardening habits. This place made me feel like I was "home" and I wanted to cry I was so happy. There is a lovely cafe with a koi pond that has a large seating area and I can't wait to take my mom when she visits in a month or so. The gift shop seems very well stocked too. This weekend is exciting to me because I will attend a free seminar related to yard renovation. It should be interesting and perhaps I will meet some of my new neighbors. The best part, I will be able to ride my bike to the nursery because it is very close to my new home! read more

Beautiful nursery and cafe. Plants are often on the pricier side, but everything is very high quality.

I adore succulents and greenery in genetal so this place was an absolute treat! They had a 30%indoor plant sale when I went but I found everythikg was pretty pricey/over priced in general. You can find the same plants elsewhere for about half the price, but the ambiance and vibe was really cute so maybe youre paying for the experience read more

Gorgeous plants, fantastic staff, and a beautiful environment. I have been to several other Seattle nurseries as I like to explore my options, but no other nursery so far has competed with Swansons' quality, selection, price, and attention to detail. They often have beautiful displays and plant sculptures to see, as well as two indoor shop areas and a very large outdoor selection. They are dog friendly and are always super happy to help. They even have an email for customers to contact about any plant questions. (It doesn't even need to be a plant you purchased from them, they will help out with any garden issues you have!) Not only are the plants always in fantastic condition, but their koi pond in their café is always so well kept and clean. This place obviously pays attention to detail and are dedicated to a clean, family friendly environment. Even if you're not looking for plants, you should check it out! read more

Another place I've never been to in over a decade in Seattle. Normally, for me the closer the better and if I can get it at the local Fred Meyer, that's cool. That is until you own a home, it springtime and you've got the nack to plant. Then, you take a mecca to Crown Hill and to Swansons. It's a oasis of plants, greenhouses and just everything you need for the yard spread out like a huge place. I brought my camera as it almost seemed to be at a botanical garden, but it's really a huge garden center. The good, is there's plenty to spend money on just like going to Ikea where you need to plan out where to walk and they even have a snack bar. The bad is you're going to start filling up your cart with $5 of this and $12 of that and don't even think about how much a pot costs. You're not get out of here for less than $100 as this place is just like going to Ikea or Costco. read more

I was taken aback by the number of different varieties of plants and trees this nursery carries. It's a but far from Bellevue but so worth the drive. I must have seen atleast 5 varieties of lavender plant in here. They have a nice coffee shop within the premises and the ambiance is very nice with tropical plants and koi pond. It was raining and cold but I still took my own sweet time to explore most of it. I would suggest to come prepared to spend atleast a couple of hours to view the entire collection. They have great coupons on their site-for e.g if you visit on a rainy day, they give 30% off while on a sunny day they give 20% off! They had cute chicks( I mean real chicks..loll) too. I am definitely coming back to see when the flowers are in full bloom. read more

I definitely make a (or several) trips to Swansons Nursery especially during the Christmas holidays. And I have for the past 30+ years. Never disappointed, love the selection of holiday decor and the sales personnel are very helpful not only in the decor/holiday area but also in showing me what outdoor winter blooming plants I need for my hummingbird visitors. I will agree the prices are a little high but the ornaments I've bought I haven't seen anywhere else! There have been many great shops/stores in the Seattle area that unfortunately have closed over the years. I truly hope Swansons stays around for many years after I'm gone. There are still a great many of us who enjoy not only "uniqueness" but "QUALITY" in what we buy! THANK YOU, SWANSONS! read more

No cash excepted here, isn't that illegal since it's called "legal tender"? I called in an order and the experience was ok. Has to be the best place to get plants in Seattle. There's a huge selection in a family friendly place, and it is very spacious (hardware store nurseries feel cramped, while this is bright and airy). We love Swansons Nursery. This is our go-to spot for indoor plants in Seattle. The quality and service is great and the plants we have purchased from here thrive, whereas some of the indoor the plants we have gotten at another local plant store have struggled or died. They are definitely pricier than a Home Depot or Lowes but their selection is better. This place has the biggest selection of plants I've seen yet. They also have a cafe and gift shop, so that gives you a clue of how massive this place is. My favorite nursery in the Ballard area. Swanson's is so much more than just plants. Their gift shop always has a well curated selection of items for a wide range of likes and tastes. The indoor cafe has delicious food. I had a Morrocan soup and the steak sandwich on my last visit and both we're hearty and tasty. Their coffee tastes good enough to drink espresso style with no need for flavors or sweeteners. Seasonally they always have something interesting being featured. The Easter Bunny always drops by and in December some of Santa's reindeer spend a few weeks at the nursery. Plus Santa himself makes multiple appearances. All the staff are knowledgeable and so friendly. They genuinely seem to enjoy their work. And don't forget the coy pond with some of the most gorgeous fish I've seen! read more
