This small nursery has been around for ages and I have great memories of coming here for a last-minute Christmas tree, or to check out their farm stand for seasonal fruit and interesting snacks. My recent trip resulted in an impulse buy of a jar of the best mango chili jam and the most beautiful strawberries. You get a level of quality and service that bigger stores would never provide. For example, they will re-pot your plant for free (if you purchase plant and pot from them). And they offer container design to help your plant placements benefit the most from their environment. These are amazing perks for a novice gardener like me! They also offer delivery which is great for getting tall plants or larger/heavier orders home, and have master gardener clinics on Saturdays from spring through summer. All of the plants were full of 2 to 3 types of bugs. They did not look healthy at all, yet had very premium pricing. The staff is confused and a joke. Only one person working back in the shrubs knew what he was talking about. There are many other options. Go elsewhere. read more

This little nursery in the heart of Bellevue is a true local gem. I've probably driven by it a zillion times but didn't stop until recently - so glad I did! It may look small from the road, but this well-stocked nursery has pretty much anything you could need or want for the garden. I was there during early spring, so there were plenty of annuals, perennials, herbs, and garden starts to choose from. They also had a nice selection of small trees, shrubs, and bushes. I also loved their indoor shop area, with garden-themed accessories and gifts. Not to mention a great selection of gardening books! I ended up leaving with a few herbs to get my garden started, and picked out a couple of lovely trees to grab on my next visit. I've been going here for two years now for all my houseplant needs. The ladies working at the nursery are super sweet and helpful -- I've asked a few times for tips on a struggling plant and they've given me possible prognoses on why leaves are falling, plants not flowering, etc. The houseplant section is organized by light needs -- so it's really easy to find a plant that works with whatever room you're trying to put it in. I like many others have found myself stuck at home longer than I like. As such, I wanted a distraction. Instead of weighing the pros and cons of getting a pet (cat/dog fees amongst other things) I decided to convert to getting a plant. I have other plants. They are still alive (to the surprise of my mother), so I didn't mind getting some more. The nursery is one I had always passed by on the 550 (which stops right near it) but never had the chance to visit. But, I have more time on my hands especially to make it in time for its 4 pm closing time on weekdays. At the outside, they immediately had a sign asking people to wear a mask. So you know what to expect before going in (they also have a website of course): A good portion of the nursery is outside (the outdoor plants and trees) so if you are susceptible to getting overheated, I would visit them at times when the sun is not so bright because you will be SWEATING especially if you are spending a long time in the outside portion. I would recommend speaking to someone for help especially if it is your first time there. There would be some sections you would know how to go to based on general signs and general know how (ex: outdoor plants will be outdoor). But to get a better feel and specific locations (especial if you are just a budding botanist), just ask someone (they were also wearing masks). There is wide stretch for outdoor plants and the indoor plants is in the same shelter where you would checkout. The things I appreciate the most from my time is a) the knowledge and kindness of the people who worked there when they answered my questions not just about where things are but also how to care for my plants as I take them home. Another thing I like is b) the signs listing care for the indoor plants. Before I could get attached to a plant, the signs let me know if a plant need high or low light and what window positions would give the desired light. That is how I found out my windows faced south after a quick phone call to my rental office while looking at new greens. This made it easier to decide what to take. Overall, I think this could be a great place to get new tools and items if you want to start your green thumb. If you want a specific product, I would call first before heading over. Just went on a rainy Friday early afternoon. Parked right next to entrance. Was walking in without a plan except that I needed some pretty flowers that could handle sun and my son could plant tomorrow. I already had a bunch of soil and pots. Teresa luckily was right there ready to help me and walked me around showing options and even grabbed me a cart. No pressure to buy. I was throwing them in the cart right after she would give a quick intro ( these will be good for morning sun. ... These will grow and hang off pot..." There was one or two that caught my eye but she would tell me that they may not last all summer or it was hard to tell what color it would bloom that the picture can be deceiving. Super helpful! I asked if there was child sized watering cans and she said she thought there might be in the back so she came out with 2 options within like 30 seconds. I ended up getting the green can and $100 worth of flowers ready for my son to plant tomorrow. It was fully covered where I was but i saw it went further out into an uncovered area. The inside is really cute too. I saw some great gift opportunities and cant believe ive driven by this place so many times and had no clue how big it was inside and what all was available. I thought it was like an expanded fruit stand type vibe. But it reminded me of a mini more convenient Molbak's with awesome customer service. Will be coming back ! read more

I have been doing a fair amount of my plant shopping at places like the gardening sections of big chain stores like Home Depot, and Fred Meyers, but I will probably exclusively come to Bellevue Nursery now for all my plant needs. They pretty much have everything you can hope for plus experts around that were very helpful in teaching me a thing or two about plants when I asked. Right now it's the winter and maybe that's why most their plants were taken inside but I could tell by looking at the land that there will be so much selections once the season hits. Wow, they are so friendly and so knowledgeable! Daniel helped us out extensively, and was really nice about really basic questions I had. He also helped us out with native plants, plants that can survive without much sun, and indoor plants that can survive neglect. He also helped us out with pretty specific questions we had about our particular garden, as well as bee-friendly plants for our situation. I'm writing this review awfully late, in all honesty it was last fall-ish that I visited. Since then, all of our plants survived the winter and are happily sprouting up again! They look awesome! The staff at Bellevue Nursery is so friendly and helpful. My son and wife went in looking to buy bonsai trees. The staff spent 15 minutes with them going over all the care instructions. I just moved here from nyc and had to give away all my plants before the move I am a big house plant person and I was so sad to move into our new house plantless. I had a really great plant shop by my old place in brooklyn and I was concerned I'd have a hard time finding something similar here. I went to Home Depot and was disappointed in their selection so came to Yelp and found Bellevue Nursery. And I am so glad I did! I came in with a very long list and they had a HUGE amazing selection so I had a hard time deciding on what to get. One of the employees was extremely helpful with recommendations and helping me carry things to the register. She was also very friendly and welcoming. I've given this place over a dozen opportunities to sell product to me. Each time I go I'm extremely disappointed as their customer service is terrible. I've asked for help building planters, questions about which plants I should purchase for indoor vs outdoor, how to care, etc and the employees always seem annoyed by the questions and then they just go back to what we work they were doing. If you know plants and do not need assistance outside of loading your vehicle, I'm sure it's great. read more

Many of the house plants at other places were dried up and dead but the ones here looked very nice and healthy. It was a lovely day to use my Groupon. They were nice as pie about letting me use it and helped me figure out how to still get the sale price on the lovely hedge I bought as well as the other grasses and annuals. The sun was out, we strolled through the gardens and picked out some plants, the staff were super helpful and the plants were lovely. There are nice little carts, the plants were all healthy and looking amazing. Tons of groundcover and smaller plants but we have space to fill and needed some bigger items. So, why only three stars? For me, selection is super important and this place had nice stuff but it was much smaller than many other garden places I'm more likely to go to. Overall, it's a great place, I'd say go there if you're on the Eastside, but I rarely am. read more

I was expecting friendlier service from a local nursery. Out of the three employees on duty, the only person who asked if I needed any help was a nice young man in the shrubbery section. Since I had already spent a half an hour collecting plants and had to head home in order to plant before dark, I just headed for the checkout. I'm a novice gardener and would have liked to ask a few questions while shopping around, but the one employee I saw in the flowers section barely made eye contact and seemed like she was too busy moving things around to stop and help, so I didn't try to get her attention. I even went back the next day for some additional plants with my fiance and we had the same experience, minus the nice young man, who didn't appear to be working that day. The same woman checked me out both days, she wasn't rude or anything, but she seemed quite distracted both times. We'll see how my plants do, they look lovely at the moment after a day in the flower bed, and I appreciated the unique colors they had available in standard flowers. The prices are pretty high, but I'll swallow them to avoid the big-box stores. However, I plan to explore other local nurseries in search of better service. read more

Bellevue Nursery is a landmark that has been around since the 50's. They've recently changed ownership, and the people have wonderful energy and are very welcoming. The nursery features several large, tranquil greenhouses as well as a shop. You will be able to find all things gardening here and they are able to order any product they do not have in stock for you..... Their winter hours are posted to close at 5 PM daily, while the rest of the year they close at 6. I called in at 3 PM and didn't make it there until 4:40. They were planning to close shop and go home an hour early because it was snowing and the roads were getting icy. However, they opted to wait for me to come pick up the two bags of soil I needed. I really appreciated that. I found FoxFarm Ocean Forest 12 quarts soil bags for $10.99/bag compared to $17 at Walmart and $25 at Amazon for the same exact bag. I don't think the $$$ on Yelp is an accurate gauge on how things are priced here. There are certain premium items that are more expensive than what's even available at the garden centers of stores like Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, and Fred Meyer....but aside from the a select few items, most plants at Bellevue Nursery are cheaper than the larger chains. Plus, Bellevue Nursery is on another level as it is an actual nursery. I also recommend this shop for anybody looking for succulents and bonsais. read more

This nursery has a nice selection of vegetables and especially tomatoes. However, the first year I bought few grafted tomatoes - no one told me these really can't be planted in a pot unless it's a half barrel. I got a good first crop, then ... nothing. I've had similar experiences with pretty much everything I've ever purchased here - no customer service. Plants that do okay, but nothing exceptional. Except when it comes to soil and fertilizer. The younger guy that helped me out with that last year was personable and even helped me load the bags in my trunk. I love walking through this nursery, but to purchase anything or get advice on what I should be planting, I'll go to the nursery in Issaquah. It's not quite as pricey, and I like the wider selection and extremely helpful staff there. read more

I have lived just blocks from this place for 2 years now and I cannot believe I have not visited, believe me, it's been on my list. I can only review on the customer service as I did not have much time to look around. That being said, the ladies that I encountered were absolutely wonderful and helpful. I needed more potting soil and they were extremely helpful in which soil to get. She did not try to get me to purchase the most expensive variety, just what I needed. They recommended some fertilizer as well which I ended up purchasing and my plants are flourishing. I will absolutely be back when I have more time to mosey around and check out the variety! I only bought potting soil, which was on sale, and I did ask some questions of the young lady about indoor plants, and she was fantastic. First off, they have the most helpful staff with great customer service! Shyna was so helpful and gave us amazing tips and pointers on our indoor planting. She went out of her way to look up plants that were non-toxic to cats for us. She really enjoys what she does. Jessica was also extremely helpful and kind. Their plants & products are good. Prices are okay. Service is marginal. A few years ago, after the holidays, I wanted a new artificial tree. A blond lady at the register looked around and said there were no more upstairs, but they had two more and she'd call me when they were brought out. She took my name and phone. No call for 2-3 days, so I called back. Same lady icily said "I told you I'd call you." Two weeks later, I called again. She wasn't there, nor did she ever call. I gave up and got a tree at Wights in Lynnwood. Friends have had some poor experiences. They used to have a great reputation, but it's gone downhill. Their location is good, so they can get pretty bad before they don't attract any business. Seeing the trend is sad. read more

I have been going to Bellevue Nursery for the last two or three years. It's on Bellevue Way, and is a locally owned small business. There are a few parking spots at the front entrance of the store, and across the street. I really love this place. I have frequented other nurseries in the East Side, but Bellevue Nursery is my favorite place. For those who have little or no knowledge about botany, the staff at Bellevue Nursery will invest the time to explain things to you. I usually meander around the place about 30 to 45 minutes before I decide on buying a new plant. Why so long? Well, first there are TONS of plants. Bellevue nursery has a really great selection of cool and interesting plants. I personally love to know about the plant, how it grows, what to expect, and how to care for the plant. In my experience, I have asked the staff ALL KINDS of questions like: How long should I expect this plant to live? What does low-light or shade really mean? Can I put this plant in my bathroom or corner of my bedroom? Will this plant need to be re-potted in a year or so? What is the best environment to grow and nurture a tropical plant? ETC ETC ETC. You would be surprised at their answers and knowledge. trust me, to really grow and nurture a plant takes a lot of time, knowledge, and love. I treat my plants like my shoes and clothes - take care of em, and they can last a very long time. I have had a couple of experiences when Bellevue Nursery did not carry the plant size or height that I desired...so they ordered it for me! My plant got there in 2-3 business days, a staff at Bellevue Nursery called me, and I picked it up and paid for it! Great Service. Not everyone loves to go to nurseries. I think people who are SERIOUS about gardening and are serious in maintaining a plant will love Bellevue Nursery. This is NOT a place for people who just want to create a quick and cheap landscape of plants and other foliage. What I'm saying is if you just want some plants that you know you will replace of throw away later....or plants just to decorate your home when visitors come....just go to Home Depot or Lowes. Plants at THOSE stores will probably die just in time for you to replace them with another cheap (but probably dying) plant from the same store. I have bought SO many plants at Bellevue Nursery that maintained being healthy after I took them home, and YEARS after that! I have supported this local nursery for 40 years. My last three visits have had very poor uninterested staff. It was so bad today I walked out never to return. There was over $100 of plants in my cart, which I was told could not go inside, but no outside check out and no offer to help. Also tried to place an order for the next delivery and was was told the name I addressed the employee by was not her name and she walked away.
