Now is the season for gardening. I go to various gardening centers every week. Today I came to J Rosso Nursery center in Tukwila. Here was the dynamic red Crape Myrtle Tree I was looking for. It was a good one that grew up on 5f, but I'm thinking about it because it costs $200. And there was also my favorite coral pink crape myrtle tree that grew to 7f7, but price was $300. I think worth the price. It's hard to find such a good myrtle tree. First of all, I took a walk around other plants and flowers. A friendly cat welcomed me here. I continued to look around the plants under the guidance of the cat. There are many pots and ready to plant now. A man from the store kindly answered my question. What I learned from the man is that planting tree will be your investment. I realized I had to rethink my budget. Lol read more

Their variety, condition and pricing of items varies considerably. Hit and miss. Recently purchased a substantial number of 6-foot trees from them. And most were completely root-bound. Must of been in their inventory for a long time. Pricing similar to Home depot. But with a catch - Rosso charges an outrageous credit card fee. People working there are nice and helpful. read more

Rosso is a hidden gem! I dropped by after the airport and was pleasantly surprised. Their flowering plants are beautiful and well cared for. I purchased a Daphne and some flowers for my planters and they were all in full bloom and beautiful. They have a really good selection and excellent customer service. I recommend. read more

Stellar nursery with great service and a wide selection. Last early spring I purchased a number of plants including hydrangea and a hardy banana, as well as soil and some veggie starts. The hydrangea and the banana certainly weren't much to look at during the cold season in which I purchased them, but they have both developed wonderfully over the first year. I thought that the banana had perhaps died in the bad cold snap we had this past winter and went back to Rosso to buy a new one. However, the lady there told me to be patient and showed me how the bananas die back every year. She suggested I not buy a new one just yet and instead wait on the original one to shout up again. Well she was totally correct and the original banana is again growing! She saved me money by her recommendation, and I was able to purchase another hydrangea in a different color instead, as well as a snowball tree. Both are already doing great. read more

I just got off the phone with this a$$hole, and I am shocked that they even have a business. I hope I spoke to a teenage attendant instead of the business owner. From the get-go, this man was abrasive and rude. He said it's too hot to actually do the job I asked about, which would be fine, if he could articulate it better. So I asked for a ballpark estimate of what it would cost for future planning, and he said, repeatedly. "What am I going to get out of it?" An absolute low excuse for a human being. read more

The facilities are basic, but what matters is they have a good selection of plants at reasonable prices. I recommend you call ahead before you come to Rosso's to get a sense of the place and verify they are open. Leverage the staff when you are there to help you find what you need, and verify cost. So I was driving home from a friends house and took a wrong turn and got lost for a second when all of a sudden I noticed a couple rain barrels out in front of this building that I drove by. I took a u-turn and decided to park and ask if they were selling the rain barrels. When I parked and started to walk to this place I noticed a lot of plants and a guy washing a empty barrel and was now confused due to not knowing where I was and all of a sudden finding a nursery? I went inside and there was a man cleaning up so I asked him if the rain barrels were for sale hoping they were and at a good price. He wasn't sure of the price so he asked me to walk with him, I walked through this huge complex looking at random stuff that brought me back as a kid seeing some older stuff throughout, reminded me of my grandpa's garage. We got to the other side of this building and the man then asked the woman by the counter trimming a plant if she knew the price. She wasn't sure but the man didn't give up and told me to walk around if I like while he finds out, I had no problem due to now finding out I was in a nursery of beautiful plants and even vegetable starts. The woman there was very nice and I told her I found this place from being lost for second and she laughed saying she has heard that one before, then she told me there's more plants outside if i wanted to look, I was like what? I went outside to find nothing but tons of beautiful plants, flowers,vines,grasses, trees and I know there was more but I figured out I came in after they were closing noticing where you usually parked was closed, so I knew I was running out of time. Then another guy came out to ask if I was interested in the barrels and introduced himself as Geno. That man was so nice and walked me out to the barrels and I picked one I liked and he told me the price that was really good, I assume it ranges in price do to them being recycled to use for a rain barrel, compost tumbler or what ever. Geno was very informative on where he got them and that they were all decontaminated but they mostly come from food companies it seems anyways, for instance the one I bought was used to ship hot dogs. Geno even gave me ideas of ways to make it into a tumbler. I had to get going after all the information he was giving me but I have been back for other flowers and this place really is a hidden gem that once you get there you will be surprised at all the selection you have. I know when I'm shopping for plants I really don't care what the building looks like as long as the plants are healthy with a good selection and that's what they have here with also great customer service with a vast knowledge of plants that most of time is hard to find at other stores. read more

We were on the hunt for a Christmas tree that was undead....the valley was barren. Tree stand guy: "what do you mean, this is a fresh tree?!?" Me: "I want one that is alive an uncut, do you have that?" Tree stand guy: "yes, this alive, no fake..." Repeat. I called Holly Hill Nursery, also in my hood...but they don't do it anymore now that A-holes like Lowes sell trees for like $.50. He's barely in business....but I digress. Flippin-A, Julius Rosso. Right. They are awesome. They have many, many uncut, potted Fir trees that are ALIVE! My sweetie had such a nice time talking with the staff lady that I wandered off and let them compare the "feel" of each potential Christmas tree candidate. He picked one, and she said, "nah, you don't want that one, FEEL THIS"...and she got him hooked on a cute 4' White Noble Fir. He loves it, I love it. It's gonna look great over the years as we'll plant it in our yard in a few months. Only $39. ....Go talk to the touchy-feely "tree whisperer lady" It's a GO! read more

This business practices an incredible bait and switch and i wouldn't recommend them to be a business that you support. They offer great deals and coupons but they are not valid on the prices that are posted as these are "specials" (ie instead of the plant being 5 for $20 they are $6.99 each). We had a voucher from Amazon local that we have requested a refund on. We really feel we were mislead to get us in the door and disappointed to be prey they have baited. Even as this is our local nursery we won't be frequenting it in the future. read more

I've taken the Albro exit off I-5 SB my entire life, only I turned left and not right so never came across this great nursery. It wasn't until recently when I was taking an urban hike with a friend who asked if I've ever been here. I didn't even know it existed! A great coupon offer finally led me to the nursery. The folks working here are friendly and knowledgeable. They had a very large selection of many types of plants and trees. They've even got a small Christmas shop stuck right in the middle of everything. Item to note, even though some of their price tags for one-gallon and two-gallon ferns say 6.99 and 9.99, respectively; they actually charge 9.99 and 14.99, respectively. But, they do give an overall 20% discount if you don't use a coupon in the same transaction. Nice marketing touch. read more

I got a groupon to the Georgetown location but, unfortunately, it had already moved by the time I was ready to "cash-in", so I went to the Tukwila location instead. This place may look a little run-down but don't let that fool you. They have a pretty good selection of trees and outdoor plants and they are usually pretty hardy looking. Whenever I go to Swanson's or Sky Nursery, their plants usually look like I'm going to really need to nurture them back to health AND they're more expensive than Rosso Gardens. Quick Note: Rosso Gardens price matches so if you saw it somewhere else for cheaper, they'll usually match it! The guys there are really helpful and nice and are willing to help you fulfill your gardening needs. My boyfriend and I are re-landscaping our yard and continuing to build a sustainable garden indoors. We're in the process of setting up our hydroponics system and need seeds, which Rosso Gardens doesn't have.... yet. So, we spoke to the guys here and they let us know when they'll be getting seeds in and even let us know when their next order of specific starters will be in so we can start blocking out our garden bed and scheduling our grow season. This place is worth the "trek" from Seattle. Their great customer service (I felt like I had a gardening personal shopper) is what will keep me coming back. read more

This place is outstanding. In the 10 times I've been I think I've met the entire family and I have not come across a more helpful and knowledgeable bunch in my hundreds of visits to the local nurserys/garden stores. I have purchased a number of items, but the most recent was two large plum trees. They delivered for a reasonable price, and helped me get the 300 pounds of tree planted right. The delivery guy, also named Greg, was top notch. I'm looking forward to future purchases and to watching these wonderful plum trees grow. read more

Spent about 1/2 hour looking at plants and then realized the place was empty. Or at least no one was in the office or tending to plants outside. Then I noticed the very strong smell of pot coming from the very secure garage. I think the focus of the business has changed. I'm cool with that but it does make for crappy stoned customer service. It's just how it works. Going back to West Seattle Nursery, they are the best for South of Seattle, and you don't have to argue about what the sign said the plant cost! read more

Wha, wha happened? This place used to rock for cheap and plentiful run-of-the-mill plants a few years ago. They still have specials, but the majority of their stock is now priced strictly by MSRP. Many of the plants look sad. So you might as well go to Lowe's for the same type of plants for a lot less. It gets an extra star for being close to I-5, having parking, and carrying fruit trees and shrubs. read more

Seriously?? Is this place ever open? I tried going to this place about 5 years ago and they were closed during their business hours. Thought I would give them another chance today but they were CLOSED 45 minutes before closing time. What kind of plant nursery is closed at 330pm on a Saturday? Seems like a horrible business plan to me... Shame they were closed because their plants looked good...at least from what I could tell from looking through the fence. I wanted to create a garden with tropical feel to it and the folks at Rosso Gardens hooked me up with a couple windmill palms trees, red hot pokers, new zealand flax and some bamboo. Each year I go back and add a few more plants and now my garden is really starting to pop with color and a tropical feel. It is worth pulling on your boots and tramping through the fields. Yeah, I'd say this place is pretty good. It's the best, closest nursery to me without going to Home Depot. I got a fantastic deal today, and a lot of really excellent advice. They have tons of plants, but maybe better for the landscaping side of things than for the special little garden. Lots of ferns, red bark willow, tons of (cheap) wysteria, some evergreen clematis, lots more! They have good, basic plants and very good prices and nice people. Rosso's is great! Beautiful shrubs and trees at very reasonable prices. I got a healthy purple smoke bush, a hearty rock rose and definitely going back for more when compost is down. The customer service was friendly and the selection was surprisingly vast. I haven't been there since they moved and was so happy to find them again. The set up is more about function than aesthetic so I could see it being a little overwhelming if you're a beginning gardener.
