Seeweed salad, Red Bull roll, large Sapporo beer, hot small sake

Feeling so glad that I decided to give another local restaurant a chance because it did not disappoint. The Red Bull roll was an explosion of flavor in my mouth and it had just the perfect amount of spicy so that I could feel the kick! The seaweed salad was also very tasty and the porcion was perfect for the price. Overall, I reccomend you come and give SushiKo a chance and treat yourself!

Today I visited Sushiko with my sister during our lunch break, hoping to enjoy some sushi. Unfortunately, our experience was far from what we expected. After over an hour of waiting, we asked how long until our food would arrive. The server said it would be 15 minutes. Thirty minutes later, I inquired again, asking if she could bag our food to go and how much longer it would be. That's when we were told that the printer hadn't printed our order, and it would be another 10 minutes. I would understand if they are busy, the other table of two had gotten their food before we sat down. We were the only other people seating in the restaurant. They take way tooo long, I don't recommend it. Frustrated and on a tight schedule, we decided to cancel our order, as we simply didn't have time to wait any longer. What made the situation worse was the server's sarcastic remark wishing us a good day as we left. It's disheartening to encounter such poor service, especially when you're looking forward to a meal. We ended up having to return to work on an empty stomach, which was incredibly disappointing. I can't recommend this place based on my experience.

What a gem. Sushiko sushi is worth the price point, because of its high quality food, presentation and taste. Not to mention two sashimi like rolls (no rice; fish wrapped), one of which I sampled; "Hot lady", which was a whole new approach to my sushi eating experience and was fantastic. The "playboy" was delicious. The ambience is mellow, clean and has a club-like feel. My waitress, Michelle, was kind, attentive and gave wonderful suggestions. I will definitely look forward to treating myself to Sushiko again.

It was dead inside I don't know why, the food was delicious, service was excellent. Ordered the dancing spicy salmon and miso, both very good meals. The server was attentive and very kind. It was a little dark in there so when I walked out my eyes hurt lol but that's fine too.

I didn't expect paying $16.95. I can't even feed two to four people with what I got. I won't suggest buying fried rice from here my first time and last time. I love their seaweed salad, though. I thought to try other food. Really outrageous price for the amount of food receive. Very disappointed.

Yum in the tum! We were supposed to eat at Tokyo Garden tonight for Teppanyaki, but something happened with our reservation. So, since the girls really only wanted sushi, we decided to give this place a try. The "A" rating in the window assured us that this place would at least pass our health code expectations as far as food safety and food handling! The service was fast and efficient. The atmosphere was clean, friendly, and soothing with the low dimmed lights! The food tasted fresh with a great presentation! Will definitely be going back!

3.5 stars The last time I was in Bakersfield, my friend and I grabbed an early dinner on Sunday night at Sushi Ko. The restaurant was empty, but I noticed several customers coming in to pick up their to go orders. My friend and I shared the following: -yellowtail nigiri ($5.50 for 2 pieces) -salmon nigiri ($4.50 for 2 pieces) -spicy tuna salad ($14.95): sliced tuna sashimi in spicy sauce -rainbow roll ($13.99): California roll topped with 4 types of fish + avo -crazy dream roll ($13.99): crab, avocado, cucumber (inside), topped with baked salmon I thought the yellowtail and salmon nigiri were great - both were melt in your mouth good. The salmon piece inched a little on the larger scale which made it suspect, but nonetheless, no complaints here. Both the rainbow and baked salmon rolls were adequately good - basic rolls I've had at other sushi establishments, but here, nothing really stood out about the rolls. The baked salmon roll was good but unmemorable. I felt like the fish stretched out just enough to cover the rolls, with nothing more to add. The spicy tuna salad was generous in portion, however, I was not expecting spicy tuna in poke form. A generous heap of poke topped the salad, which I thought was interesting. The salad itself doesn't come with dressing, so we had to ask for an additional side of dressing otherwise the salad was too dry on its own. Bits of the tuna were too sinewy for my preference, so for the most part, I stuck to eating just the salad. Well, sushi does exist in Bakersfield, but determining the best one with the freshest fish and best sushi roll concoctions? Who knows. Up to you to decide.

Had dinner last night with a couple of friends. The restaurant itself isn't very inviting. The front doesn't look like much (dirty windows and minimal signage) and when you go inside it's pretty dark. It was also warm inside. It was a pretty hot day outside and it didn't seem like the air conditioner worked very well. All three of us were sweating. I was greeted right away and seated to wait for my friends. The waitress was very attentive. My friends each had a Bento box which they enjoyed. I had the Udon soup and the Lobster Hills. I really enjoyed both. Had to take a lot of food home with me because the portions were pretty ample. So the nearly $50 I spent on my dinner and drinks will actually be two meals. The soup was delicious, somewhat spicy, contained thick noodles, mushrooms onions and the broth was just amazing! The Lobster Hills was also very good. The only complaint I have is that it was a baked roll so the top of the dish was hot as if it had been baked for a little bit but the rolls underneath the Langostino were cold. It was quite tasty though. My first time having Langostino and it really does taste like lobster. Honestly I'd like this place because the food was good but the atmosphere wasn't very comfortable.

We had the Bakersfield roll, golden salmon, soft shell crab (forgot the name) and ex girlfriend roll. All the rolls were delicious and cooked to our liking. The rice was unexpectedly delicious. You don't go out expecting to have rice this good! I just wish there was a sashimi menu.

Went here on a Wednesday night. First thing first...the hours on yelp are incorrect. They closefrom 2:30-4:30 everyday. Also no happy hour at all except on Thursdays. Kind of a bummer for sure! So we got there at 4 and waited around for 30 minutes. Inside the place was clean and modern. The waitress was sooo nice and very helpful. We ordered 2 rolls, the rainbow and the lobster hill and also ordered some fried rice and their nacho dish. The nacho dish was gyozas deep fried (to be used as chips) and some tuna, tomatos, and mangos. The dish was a little spicy but pretty perfect. The fried rice was out of this world! I dont even want to know how much butter they use. The meat was way overcooked, if I went again I would just get veggie fried rice. The presentation of the rolls was awesome, I always appreciate when time is taken to to make the dish look as good as it tastes. The lobster hill roll was baked and very delicious. The rainbow roll has tempura shrimp and fresh fish and avacado in it. All very delicious. I would come back here again, its similar to ENSO but from what I can remember ENSO had an awesome happy hour that occured more than one day a week! read more

Service was amazing... Even tho she was a new waitress... And the food was really good. We got the heart attack.. I would prefer it to be more on the spicier side.. And red bull roll.. Really good. And mango & mango roll was really good also.. If prefer it to have more mango. I'm not too into miso soup.. But I actually really liked this one. Had a complimentary appetizer from the chef... Went there for lunch and we're satisfied with our meals. We ordered oysters for appetizer and they brought it after the meals, The portion of the food was good that's why I gave 3 stars. This place is nice but small. Only 3 tables were accupied on lunch hours, maybe because it's new open for this location. I'll go back there again in near future. read more

Good atmosphere, good service, alright Sushi for the price. This place is tucked away in a small business center that is right next to two other Sushi restaurants. So it's already got competition, but Sushi Ko seems to be aiming for the more business casual, upscale with the extra staff and nice presentation on the plates. I ordered the chicken yakitori and an assortment of nigiri, settling on tuna, yellowtail, unagi, and tomago. I was informed that they were out of unagi for the day, so I went without. The kirin ichiban was cold and served in a nice tall glass. The food was presented very well, especially compared to some of the other sushi places in town. It just beats out Toro's plating, in my opinion. However, the quality of the sushi was slightly better than places like sushi time and miyosh, and the cost per piece was higher than both alternatives. The yakitori was a bit undercooked and had a lot of sauce, so it was a bit hard to fully enjoy. All in all, it's a nice place. They might have better rolls than nigiri, though. Not sure I'd return, given the many other options we have in town. read more

Happy hour is a good time to go because you get a free roll when you buy two. It is a bit pricey, for two the bill was almost $50 but then again we got an appetizer, 3 rolls, and dessert lol. My favorite rolls are tiger tail, spicy spider, and Red Bull. If you're getting dessert, definitely get the mochi ice cream in mango flavor, small serving but so delicious! read more

This is a beautiful sushi place! The food was pretty good and I'll definitely go back but the service needs some fine-tuning. I wasn't acknowledged at the door and had to grab a server to ask if I could take a seat. Menus and drinks weren't brought for a while. They need a bit more organization. I would give this location 4 stars if the servers were more attentive. The servers were nice, just a bit aloof. read more

Pros: service is knowledgable and relatively quick, decor is very nice, and the flavor was Ok (not great or bad; but pleasant enough for me to eat and feel somewhat satisfied with the taste) Cons: extremely small portions, very overpriced, drenched in sauces. I ordered something called a "crazy dream" it has cream cheese and crab on the inside and salmon on the outside. It was all cream cheese and sauces, I really didnt taste the fish or realize it was even there. It was the tiniest sushi order I've ever had. Along with the coke to drink, it came out to $17.50. Pretty pricey considering it isn't filling or spectacular; it should be one or the other. read more

Nestled next to Dominos in a generic suite on Coffee road, I was skeptical that I would be impressed with what Sushi Ko had to offer. Upon entering though, I was delighted to find modern and sleek decor that was cool and inviting. The menu was somewhat overwhelming, with lots of options, but I settled on my typical California roll and added a speciality roll; the ex girlfriend. The miso soup was complimentary and was a flavorful starter to a scrumptious meal. I found Sushi Ko's sushi to be some of the best I've tried in Bakersfield and was very delighted. Although I found the prices to be on the higher side, I would definitely recommend Sushi Ko to those looking for some good, quality Sushi. read more

This place definitely has the best sushi I've EVER had. The atmosphere is great, the food is great, the decor is great I absolutely love this place. Our waitress Jessie was very informative and so kind. I had the Crazy Dream (had them make it spicy) and Isaac, our chef, made it with spicy crab, siracha and with a jalapeno on top and it was absolutely perfect! My boyfriend had the Rattlesnake and it was amazing, especially with their honey siracha sauce. Halfway through our meal Isaac gave us a beautiful sample of their Pink lady which was so delicious. I'm 100% satisfied with this place and will be returning again with friends and family! read more

Let me first say, not from Bakersfield and I got my order To Go. After reading reviews I tried the place out. I ordered their Yellowtail Jalapeño, Screaming Orgasm roll & side salad. Tasty but not sure what or if I was given the "signature sauce" for the roll. The sauce I had was more of a salad dressing. Altogether good meal for an unexpected stay over. read more

First, what I liked: - I was greeted by the sushi chefs upon entry, and was immediately seated. - Great service! The server was really friendly and attentive. The reasons why Sushiko didn't get five stars: - I ate all of my rolls naked and found the sushi rice was bland. - The cucumbers in my cucumber roll was bitter. - The vegetable roll was over $7.00, so I was expecting some quality veggies. The order came with 5 cut pieces, not 6 or 8, which I was fine with.... except, the rolls included a good amount of lettuce. For over $7.00, the roll should not have contained lettuce. read more

The food was absolutely amazing. The chef recommended the fresh red eye tuna. It was so fresh. I ordered the rainbow deluxe sushi and it was presented so beautifully. There was not a bit of fishy taste or anything. Very flavorful. Great atmosphere. Will definitely be returning there. read more

We were able to walk in with no wait. The restaurant was uncomfortably warm at first and we weren't sure if we'd be able to stay for our meal. Since the restaurant was nearly empty, the staff turned the thermostat down for us. Our servers were great. Went here once, and this place will be the only sushi joint I hit up when I have to go shopping in Bakersfield (which I dread because of the heat) To begin we walked in and were greeted. This place looks really cool and modern it was super nice. Our waitress was really nice and had a cool tattoo my mother commented on (she makes a habit of that). We ordered a bunch of different roles we haven't really had before, and veggie tempura. It was all good! They have different kinds of roles I'm not too sure I've ever had, as well as your classics. So it was cool that the place was innovative and awesome. I enjoyed it a lot (get the sushi burrito it was good!) I only marked off two .5 starts, one being it was hot in there and it was hotttttt outside (god bless bako) and another .5 because I still haven't found an amazing sushi joint near me and I don't think I ever will /: but still this is the only place I'll come back to. Coming back from Fresno, on the way to Los Angeles we decided to stop for a bite for some sushi. Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted by a warm cozy bar embracing us with food. We were served by 2 waiters who attended to all our needs. The bar was manned by a single cook who greeted us with a smile and later free food. We were given soup, fried fish, and chocolate covered apples on the house. The food alone was a 5 star, but the service made it so much more enjoyable. The sushi was delicious, my favorite being the spicy tuna roll and despite not being a ramen shop their ramen was just as good as one! I would recommend this sushi bar to anyone, and now I have a story to tell at home about this nice sushi bar. read more

My husband and I come here often. The service is always very good. The food is great and fresh and occasionally they bring out a free dessert, yum! Recently I had my birthday dinner here on Valentine's weekend, with a group of about 18 people. The service was amazing for such a large group of people. All of our food came promptly and the bill was divided up the way we wanted with ease. We will continue to come here for our sushi fixe! read more

Meh Not very fresh fish for sashimi and the ribs were 60%bone and 20%fat. If the remaining 20% had been flavor I'd chalk it up to that day. But they were horrible. We ate less than half of what we'd ordered and left the rest on the table. Waste of money. Go to better sushi nearby. read more

Nice place with fast, friendly service. Portions are good and prices are on par. I also like that they had a variety of veggies in the fresh rolls, fried rice, and tempura. Sadly, the tempura was undercooked so the veggies were mostly raw and crunchy. The sauce options were limited to soy, ponzu, and a mayo option. There wasn't even anything spicy on the table, such as chili garlic, etc. the tempura was quite thick and sweet and resembled the taste of a donut. The fresh veggie rolls had a nice variety inside from lettuce to seaweed, but it didn't come with any sort of dipping sauce, so it was healthy but had very little flavor (creativity required when it comes to raw dishes). The veggie fried rice was my savior at this meal as it had a nice variety of fresh cut veggies inside (not the frozen bagged stuff you might typically get). The flavor was good, but a little more garlic wouldn't have hurt. Overall, it's an ok place but I won't likely come return. read more

The best sushi I've had so far living in Bakersfield. The fish tastes fresh and the service is quick. I liked the roll wrapped in cucumber it was light and refreshing especially with a side of ponzu. They have a solid lunch menu selection and complimentary miso soup is always a plus! read more

Sushi Ko is such a cute little place. Its decor is modern and fashionable, giving it a very pleasant atmosphere. You feel like you're eating sushi in Vegas. The service is always great and quick and the sushi never fails me. I like to get the paradise roll, it comes with cucumber on the outside instead of rice for a healthy kick to your meal. Just so you guys know...SUSHI KO is the BEST sushi restaurant in town by far. And sushi is my favorite food so I've tried every place and every kind of sushi and theirs is the freshest and most delicious I've ever had. My family and I are so addicted. The California roll here is above average compared to other sushi restaurants. Their sashimi is a bit lacking in size but the quality is good. I do like some of their specialty rolls but it's a bit too pricey for me! Never order takeout since you're dealing with raw fish and the taste may not be that good. I love their spicy mayo but their teriyaki sauce is a bit too thick. Be sure to ask for ginger and wasabi! Arigato! read more

Just came here yesterday, and made the trip from Lemoore. As usual always worth the drive. I had the Sea Bass and and a green tea tiramisu for dessert. It was delicious, cooked and seasoned perfectly. The Sea bass melted in my mouth. Love this restaurant and am looking forward to my next visit. read more
