Tempura Shrimp & Rainbow Roll
Cara T.

So, our "go to" place was closing earlier than expected and we still wanted Sushi. I had book marked this restaurant and it was only 7 minutes away and they were open till midnight. This was perfect, as we didn't want to feel rushed. Yet, we were literally thinking this place wouldn't meet our expectations since we hold the other location to such a high standard, but wanted to give this joint a shot regardless. Arrived to a nice open dining room. Wasn't too busy at this hour, so kinda perfect for being first timers. Their front hostess station does have a few notations to take notice of when coming in-like: you can't seat yourself at the bar and no dogs allowed. That said, we were greeted promptly and taken to a table (party of 3) Our server arrived and got our drink orders in. It was reverse happy hour or should I just say- just happy hour 'cause everyday after 2 PM till close (midnight) it always is! That's an impressive plus and made our experience off to a fantastic start. Appetizers- Spicy Garlic Edamame and the Tempura Fried Calamari. Both were better than our usual scene. So, a little taken aback even by that. Rolls- Spicy Crunch Tuna Roll, Las Vegas Roll, Rainbow Roll & Second Climax Roll. ALL were excellent! However, the stand outs were the Rainbow & Second Climax. They made the Climax (upon request) extra spicy for us & we truthfully could have done this one, one more time. LOL The menu has a wonderful variety including noodles, Katsu Chicken, combo plates, soups & sides. Service was great. Our staff member was attentive and friendly. Our requests were met with a willingness and enthusiasm. Definitely will be back to explore more of their menu and try some other combinations since they accommodate their guest just as well as our staple spot. They exceeded our expectations and we honestly didn't think we'd find a place better than the one we never defer from, but they did challenge that! Food was fresh, delicious and promptly served. Excellent choice for sushi that's affordable and bussin!

Fresh, delicious sushi. We also got the four season roll but asked to remove the wasabi and it was delicious. Sapporo was thoroughly cold. We went on a Tuesday at 2 pm and it was a very peaceful, relaxing meal. Great, friendly service. Clean bathroom. Parking may get tight during a rush hour, but easy to find and easy parking during our time. Can't wait to come back

We came here for lunch on a Saturday and we were seated immediately. The staff was nice and our server checked up on us multiple times. We came here at 2 PM, and luckily we just made their happy hour! They have happy hour starting from 2PM - close, so we definitely took advantage and ordered a few rolls on that menu. The sushi was decent, you can definitely tell the different between the happy hour rolls and the specialty rolls. However, the food came out fairly quickly and we left satisfied with our lunch.

Sushi lover's roll

Was meeting friends on this side of town & went out of our normal & tried this spot. Sat at the bar. Staff was friendly & attentive. The sushi was so delicious, definitely in my top 5 places in the greater phoenix area. Food came out in a timely manner & the atmosphere was welcoming & overall a great vibe.

Chicken fried rice

One of my favorite sushi places in AZ. It's a great price and also quality food. The restaurant had a lot of seating so there's never more than a 15 minute wait (in my experience). The rolls are so creative. The service is good and they are all really nice. Good lighting and comfy booths! Love this place! We got the chicken fried rice (huge portion), second climax roll (my fav), Las Vegas roll (classic), and I don't remember the 3rd one . All so yummy!

Nigiri and chili garlic edamame

Love this place! You cannot beat these prices, the staff is very welcoming and the food is good.

I'm a big fan of sushi and udon, and this place didn't disappoint me at all. I went there right before the busy lunch time and that was the right decision because this place could be very crowded and that can tell you a lot how good this sushi place is. Lunch menu offers a great deal, good options and reasonably priced. I ordered udon which came with the spicy tuna rolls and it's absolutely delicious. I ended up order another salmon rolls and it's really amazing! The food here is very fantastic, the service is excellent - that's all I needed ! The restaurant is open space indoor only, they have low or high tables, the long table for a big groups, or the counter sushi area as your choices. I'm so happy that I found my new favorite sushi restaurant. There are a lot of menu that I would like to try, and yes, I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a sushi and udon. For me, I know I will come back for more!

This is a great place to come with friends. They have options for sushi not lovers as well! Service was good. He was attentive! I always love their rolls to share with friends.

OG R.

Wow! What a disappointment. This is not legit sushi. Stay away! The rice was hard and dry. The quality of the fish were not fresh. I would not recommend here. One of the rolls I got, might have been a dynamite roll, was soggy. They kept falling apart. Service was good. That's the one star!

Happy Hour!

Really good! Great prices. EXCEPTIONAL service. Happy hour with liberal hours. Three of us ate for like $60 wow!

Richard H.

Average compared to other places from where I'm from regarding quality but then again the target audience seems to cater to the younger crowd hence the all day HH menu which wasn't too bad. It met my needs on this 115F day. Service was fast at 4:45 on a weekday.

A girl friend and I were craving some sushi and were looking for a spot in Arcadia that had a good happy hour and Sushiholic fit the bill. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and were immediately seated. Our server did a great job walking us through the menu and was quick to get us our drinks. We loved the large happy hour menu and the variety of drinks, appetizers and sushi options. We order 4 glasses of Sauvignon Blanc, crab puffs, gyoza, and garlic edamame, and 4 sushi rolls (2 california rolls, Tootsie Roll, and Shrimp Tempura). Our bill came out to $90 for everything-such a good deal. Food was tasty, service was great and the resturant was clean. We will soon become regulars here.

Fantastic place to get sushi. I've been here two times and both were great experiences. They have lots of seating so typically there's not a wait. Service is prompt and friendly. The fish tastes fresh and they have tons of rolls to choose from. They also have great happy hour deals that can't be beat!

It is a home that has been converted into an open kitchen/restaurant. The patio has ample space to double the seating inside. Since it was still hot outside, we had a nice large table inside. Our host/server was so gracious and talented knowing the menu ingredients and preparation and offered great wine pairing. The culinary team cleverly used the wood fired oven & Japanese Robata to add an unqiue smoky flavor preparing these modern Mediterranean & Japanese dishes * White anchovies | Taralli crackers + togarashi (no picture) - clean anchovie flavor - enjoyed it with Taralli crackers - these ring crackers reminded me of my trip to Italy! * Heirloom Carrot + Harissa Eggplant Miso (no pictures) - sweet and touch of spice from the harissa eggplant miso * Polenta | Bianco di Napoli tomato sauce + oregano + EVOO - tasty, but I wished the outer crust of the polenta was just a tad bit crispier to add structure & texture when each of us scooped a portion * Burrata | tomato jam + EVOO + oregano + schiaccia bread - what a visually colorful dish! Since Burrata is fairly bland, combining it with the tomato & tomato jam on the schiaccia bread was delicious. I wished the tomato jam wasn't hidden under the bed for arugula + tomato salad as much of it was scooped up with the salad. We had all this bread left with nothing to top or smear * Beef Carpaccio topped with frisée salad - We were looking forward to the beef tartare with squid ink milk bread that is so popular on social media, but we still enjoyed the tenderness of the carpaccio + the crispness of the frisée * Japanese sweet potato | Aleppo chili + cilantro + Japanese bbq - hands down, everyone's favorite dish of the night - if you haven't tried Japanese sweet potato, you must add it to your list! The culnary team not only perfectly baked it in the wood fire oven, but everyone was fighting over the carmelized edges... oh don't be fooled the the aleppo chili added a nice kick of spice to the carmelized sweetness. We placed 2 orders to ensure everyone had several good bites. * Navarro salad | ancient grains + beans + pistachio + parmesan + Goddess dressing - surprisingly filling but not heavy at all - the culinary team added just enough dressing to coat the ingredients but didnt take away from the flavors of each ingredient * Ribeye (14oz) + Nori Bordelaise (butter & red wine sauce with dried seaweed) - last entree of the night & what a way to end with this dish. It was pricey but fair for each to us to indulge multiple portions. We had a wonderful evening - Good Food, Good Wine, and Good Company

This location exclusively uses a wood-fired grill, sources its meat from Copper Ranch Farm (which, fun fact, doesn't spook its cattle!), and thoughtfully curates its menu to keep things interesting. You're in for a new experience every time, and that's part of the magic. We opted for the four-course experience for two, which took all the guesswork out of ordering. For an extra $20, we added the wine pairing with each course, and every pour was delicious and thoughtfully matched to the food. Honestly, some of the dishes were things I probably wouldn't have ordered for myself, and I'm so glad I got to experience them! We had two fish dishes, including a whole sea bream with Mediterranean flavors, followed by polenta in a tomato sauce with chorizo and steak served with Japanese potato. The steak was a bit too rare for my personal preference, but the flavors were absolutely delectable. We also ordered the pork ragù, which ended up being a crowd favorite at the table. To finish, we had the honey flan, which was the perfect sweet ending to the evening. Beyond the food, the atmosphere really makes this place special. If you're visiting during the cooler months, ask for outdoor seating. It's intimate, cozy, and the perfect romantic setting for a date night or a special occasion. Pa'La is for anyone who appreciates thoughtful cooking, unexpected flavors, and an experience that goes beyond simply going out to eat. Come curious, let the kitchen surprise you, and don't skip the wine pairing. This one is worth the wait on your list!

Wow. All I can is what a restaurant! Came here on a Wednesday night 3 weeks before Christmas and…read moreit was a vibe. Secluded upstairs dining area with heaters available. Excellent service, a Christmas tree upstairs, and no reservations required. Glad they were able to seat us considering we showed up without reservations. Downstairs gets quickly reserved so seats upstairs are where they push overflow patrons. Right outside Flint's doors downstairs there is a staircase which opens up to the upstairs dining area. Service was prompt, and we got our drinks by the time we had our mains decided. I got a glass of red to pair with my steak. My partner had a refreshing cocktail, but it was decent. The highlights of the night were the food. SO MUCH FOOD! And it was TERRIFIC! For starters we got the artichoke hummus. It sounded a bit weird, but all it was was regular hummus with 4 artichoke hearts that were crispy. The artichoke hearts were crisp, but moist, and I could have kept eating those all day. It comes with 1 pita bread. The server told us to order another and we did, turns out we needed it as the pita breads were quite small ($3 +). Sure only 3 bucks, but nickel and dime if you are spending $14 on an app... For mains I got the filet medium rare with a side of regular potatoes. My partner got the salmon skewer with a side of asparagus. Both the dishes were cooked perfectly and they were familiar dishes with a slightly exotic touch to it. Must be the middle eastern part of the restaurant. The steak came with a ganache or accompaniments of middle eastern sides. Can't recall what they were but they were great when I dipped my potatoes in them. It was sour, tart, acidic, kind of like middle eastern soy sauce. The server recommended it to us and we got it. The salmon skewer came with 5 decent sized pieces on it. Great for a small eater or someone who doesn't want their own meal. It too was delicious and had light touches of sauce or smoke on it. The asparagus is a favorite. It was cooked as usual, typical steak side and both me and my partner enjoyed it! For dessert, as it was my partners birthday the server comped the pound cake. While it was delicious, it was definitely the letdown of the meal. It was way too sweet including the layer of cream that it was doused with. The sweat cream wasn't necessary as the pound cake was incredibly sweet itself. Also, the pound cake wasn't soft like normal cake. It was quite dry once you peeled away the creme layer up top. I definitely should have gone with the Chocolate Ganache Tart. But their mess up worked in their favor. I'm definitely coming back for another meal at Flint!

Three of the four of us cook regularly and host dinners, so we all pay attention to food, service, and the overall dining experience--though we each have very different tastes. Interestingly, we all left with about the same impression. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The décor is warm, inviting, and immediately makes you feel like you're in for something special. Our server was attentive throughout the meal, although there were a few service hiccups that affected the experience. We started with cocktails. All of them were good, but each seemed just slightly out of balance. I ordered the OG Margarita on our server's recommendation, and while I'm admittedly picky about margaritas, this one was noticeably too sweet. The seasonal menu sounded exciting, especially since they emphasize using fresh, in-season ingredients. Our server insisted on us trying the Tomato Board. At $40, which was the most expensive appetizer on the menu, we expected something very memorable. It featured several varieties of tomatoes (including a surprisingly delicious pickled green tomato), a light and airy whipped mozzarella, and a single long piece of focaccia. Everything tasted fresh, and the whipped mozzarella was the standout--we'd never had anything quite like it. Unfortunately, with only one piece of bread, we had to order another just so everyone could enjoy it. Good? Absolutely. Worth $40? None of us thought so. We also ordered the escargot, which was delicious, though it's hard to describe five pieces as "family style." For our entrees, we ordered the burger, the sausage with potato latke, and what we thought was the lamb and mussels special. At first we were going to order the pork belly noodles instead of the sausage, but our server thought it would be too many noodle dishes, so we happily took his recommendation to get the sausage. Unfortunately, there was a miscommunication, and the pork belly noodles were brought instead of the special we were most excited to try. When we pointed it out, he acknowledged the mistake but he wasn't quick to offer a resolution, which left us in an awkward spot where we just decided to keep it. Ironically, the pork belly noodles ended up being our least favorite dish. The pork belly was overly chewy and quite salty, while the noodles were bland and seemed just slightly undercooked. The fresh mint was a nice touch, but it wasn't enough to save the dish. The sausage with potato latke, yogurt sauce, and pickled red cabbage was surprisingly excellent. The flavors were balanced, the portion size was generous, and it ended up being one of our favorites. The true star of the evening, though, was the burger. We split it four ways, and every single one of us commented on how good it was. Perfectly cooked, well-seasoned, topped with melty Gorgonzola and a vanilla bean jam that married beautifully together. We used every last bite of the warm bun to soak up what was left. Overall, we'd give the food about a 7/10. Here's what took an otherwise 4/5 star experience down to a 3. The air conditioning wasn't working on a 115-degree day. But I'm not lowering my rating because mechanical issues happen. At first it wasn't noticeable because it was still cooler than outside, but as dinner went on we were all visibly uncomfortable, passing around my hand fan. Only then did our server mention that the A/C had been out. You come here for an experience and if you know upfront a patrons experience will be affected you are under obligation to tell them but no one mentioned it when we arrived or made any effort to acknowledge the inconvenience or tried to make up for our discomfort in any way. Persephen clearly has talent in the kitchen and a beautiful space, but when you position yourself as a premium dining experience, every detail matters. We enjoyed parts of the meal, especially the burger, but overall the experience didn't quite live up to the hype. For us, 3 out of 5 stars feels like a fair rating.
