We got the chili edamame, which was unique and very yummy - spicy though. The baked mussels were AMAZING. Definitely try those. The miso was above average. The crab puffs were just okay. For rolls, we got the Viva Las Vegas, which was my favorite. I didn't like the unforgettable roll, but my husband did. The second orgasm was very good. My friend loved her salmon skin hand roll. We also got the shoyu ramen, which was good by Phoenix standards. The broth was average, but the pork was tender and the noodles delicious. The place was solid for years and a staple for our family and friends. Sadly it has deteriorated of late. Inconsistent service, the dishes/glasses are past replacement. I used to frequent this place regularly for the past ten years. Recently I brought guests from out of town and was not only mistreated but also insulted. Ming is the best manager ever! The manager that night was a poor substitute for a manager and definitely sloppy in the way she conducted her self and was actually very unprofessional and raw. I can't believe the fact that sushi style has lowered its standard to this extent. She shouted at us from across the restaurant that we had 5 minutes to finish our meal. Service is as lack luster as it gets. Apps come out after the mains. chili edamame was watery and flavorless. Forgot about my drink until the very end and the server is never around. Ended up having to move our own plates to another table just so we had room to eat and enjoy. I enjoy this restaurant more so cause my fiance and friends love to go here. I'm not much of a sushi eater. But they have some good deep fried foods that are enjoyable. The only downside is they have small portions on the meat side. I ate a dish and still felt hungry. Or maybe I'm just a fat butt. Called in & the employee over there phone explained they are no longer accepting to go order for the night. I'm just a bit shocked! 45 minutes before close, and I am unable to place a to-go order? Now I understand employees want to start cleaning up early in an effort to get off earlier, & I'd even understand turning down a customer walking in the door at 9:45. (Back in my restaurant days, that was unthinkable; we'd take anyone inside the doors before the posted closing time. But again I understand times post-covid are different.) TLDR: Saturday night & restaurant stopped taking to-go orders at least 45 minutes before close. You'd think a restaurant with this kind of price tag would have a bit better service. My sister and I went for Happy Hour around 5:30. We were afraid that it might be busy because it was happy hour, but it wasn't bad - plus the restaurant is a decent size with patio seating. We were sat right away. The waitress was really nice and attentive. Our order didn't take too long to come out, and everything came out at once. The HH prices are great. Also, I enjoyed the fact that their spicy tuna roll wasn't spicy because of a spicy mayo, rather the mix itself was spiced. The only thing neither my sister or I liked much was the spicy tuna appetizer - I forget the name. The base of it is like a rice hash brown (deep fried rice ball), and I don't think it added much besides sticking to my teeth haha. Besides that, +1 for the HH experience. read more

Cool place! I had the fried shrimp roll, the tempura vegetables, miso soup and the volcano roll. The food was delish. Sydney was our waitress she was kind, engaging and she checked on us a lot which is what I love. Always making sure we were good and she took the dishes away as we finished them. My sushi was wrong, at this point I just wanted to leave, ordered spicy crab, got non spicy. It did t fall apart and was fresh, wife's other roll was also good. Me and my wife use to enjoy coming here but honestly every time we walk in it's knowing the service will always be bad, but we never thought it was bad enough to not go. This time it was absolutely horrible. First we had 3 servers tonight, and each time we had to put in our order, and each time our order wasn't put in. It took me 4 times to get a beer and sake and the 4th time I just got a beer and a saki cup but no actual saki . when our 3rd server took our order he approached us with "I'm ready when you are". Not one person actually greeted us, and this was the first time someone actually started a food order. The rest of the night he gave us slight attitude, and only checked in for that order and when I asked for the bill. We are regulars at Sushi Style, love the food. But are lowering our grade on the management. Ever since there was apparently a management change we have noticed a persistent prejudice in favor of catering to the staff rather than the customers. We have not suffered in silence. Every time for the past four or five times we visit on a Friday night, we have requested that the music selection is in appropriate. Great music for a road trip but not to digest a meal. They play the music too loudly, and we have noticed other couples complain as well. Not just an age thing because this music we made popular in our age. The temperature of the restaurant is also chilly to the customers. I am sure it is perfect for the busy wait staff and kitchen crew, but I think we have given loads of chances and requests. Summarily ignored. Hopefully the management will miss us when we take our business elsewhere, and I hope this review gets read because people just want to have a pleasant meal and to be heard when they provide constructive criticism. Our review has been officially retracted. Upon our most recent visit Sushi style has addressed every issue we had and we are delighted to be back. It is a rare and delightful occurrence when a business accommodates its customers and we commend sushi style for its responsiveness. Thank you. We look forward to our next visit. read more
