Okay, this sushi place is literally across Sushi Wow. I've been to both of these restaurants and I could tell you that this joint serves bigger rolls. Now, I only order the same type of basic sushi almost every time I go to a sushi place: the avocado roll. The avocado roll quite big, yes, but not as big as Samurai's rolls. Sushi King has decent rolls, though. I like that the wasabi was not at all touching of any of the sushi because I don't like wasabi at all. I don't like that feeling in my nose and tear up a little. That sensation is not for me. Decent customer service. I'm always in the area so I will come back again.

The sashimi was very delicious and fresh. Thick cut !! The salmon fats were perfect! 100%will order more sashimi next time. Bento box was ok, but with 4pc of sashimi and its only $10. I think it pretty good deal. The one thing should be improved is the sauce in the teriyaki chicken and sauce for salad. Slightly sour and greasy taste is not good, and it ruined the food. I feel simply with mayonnaise or wasabi mayo is better. Or I will order "no sauce " for my salad and rice.

do not eat at this restaurant! I've reported them to Vancouver coastal. they are serving food that are not fresh!! and they refuse to acknowledge their ingredients being bad. paid 76$, 6 dishes, only 1 were kind of edible. the scallop they served on the sunrise sushi, had a funky taste you know it's gone bad. chicken teriyaki had dark grey colour to their meat!!! not safe to eat. their server kept speaking in Cantonese asking how to deal with me lol. I already reported to Vancouver coastal. this restaurant not safe to eat at!!

The 5 stars still stand, but don't get the Spicy Crunch roll. It supposedly uses cooked tuna, but honestly it tastes like Spam. I had this roll twice. Yup, definitely Spam. If I could, I would reduce the review to 4.8 stars because of this small black mark on an other flawless record. The toro is quite decent, as well as their ikura. The uni is quite fragrant (better than Samurai), and is quite the deal for the size of the piece.

I am super annoyed just because they don't care if you have an allergy... I told the server if I can swap the Cali rolls since I'm allergic to imitation crab/crab, I told her I don't mind changing it to yam tempura roll or tamago... and she said no... I go to a lot of Japanese restaurants and they are very careful with allergies.. so I'm pretty much disappointed. Our server seemed like she's annoyed with working... even though the only customers in the restaurant was my party of 3 and a family of 3.. Food was okay, tuna wasn't fresh at all, so watch out for that. I don't think I'll come back or recommend it to anyone sadly.

Honesty first: (being on the west side of the street having gotten off the bus) I went to their competitor "Sushi Wow" first. Walking up to that business one can almost taste the oil in the air (not awesome) and their tiny establishment was uber packed (double not awesome) - so i went here instead. This restaurant has 8 or 9 mostly four seater tables with 5 tables occupied. Beside me on the left - their food arrived - the table of three persons - four heaping plates of wonderful looking food - wow. (They ended up taking at least a untouched dish of leftovers home) Beside me on the right - the table of four guys are chowing down on miso soups. I arrived after the table to my right but had my order taken before them (When hungry I'm a quick decider). (I felt bad somehow) I ordered combo #65 with the choice being dynamite sushi with an order of spicy agedashi tofu (took photos). Wow hunk-a-chunka tofu each piece about the size of a jumbo marshmallow with the "spicy" sauce on the side (I ended up asking for more sauce which they didn't charge me for - score!). Although such massive pieces end up more goey than I personally prefer. The sushi was great although the thinner sliced dynamite rolls were hard to chopstick manage when soya sauce dipped. The prawn tempura tasted more fishy than i would have expected but still ok. Service was more prompt than ever noted in a sushi spot. Wow

If you ever wanted burrito sized sushi and sashimi, this is the place for you! I think one of their sushi rolls equal at least two rolls elsewhere! But if you want fine Japanese dining, this is not for you. Loved their huge sushi but I personal thought the sashimi was too big. My wife, on the other hand, said bigger the better! (Which also means if wife was writing this review, she would give this place 5 stars!)

We have take out from here as the price is very reasonable and the Sushi is fresh. My lunch box 3 is so good, I have to add it in this review. The Gyoza skin is thin and nicely pan fried with flavorful pork inside, with sashimi, beef teriyaki don and salad, this is a value meal for $8.50 We usually order 1/2 order Salmon Sashimi Maki Combo A - Tuna Roll, Salmon Roll and California Roll Alaska Roll All the above is enough for dinner and left over for lunch the next day. We used to come for dinner and ordered the Prawn Tempura but we don't like it any longer as I think they change the batter for it so now it taste heavy and oily and not the panko batter like before. The Gyoza is still good, very thin skin with flavourful pork inside.

Massive rolls and large pieces of sushi! You would be paying the same price for something half the size at your typical Japanese restaurant. The size and value if their sushi do not detract from the taste and quality of the food. The SALMON and TUNA sashimi are tasty, and the MACKEREL nigiri is one of the best in town. I would highly recommend the BEEF HOUSE ROLL, which has teriyaki beef, oshinko, spinach, crab meat and inari all in a jumbo roll. Their UNAGI ROLL is fantastic, as well. The servers have been infallibly friendly, too. :)

I enjoyed a premium sake flight (which was fine...just fine), an old fashioned served with the perfect accompanying dark chocolate, and a good amount of sushi including their signature aburi style sushi in flight form and nigiri tuna flight (bluefin, chutoro, otoro). After visiting Japan last December, I'm a bit of an otoro snob but I have to hand it to them, all three of these cuts were perfect. The accompanying rice, perfection. The quality of the fish, divine. The view was the cherry on top of this experience. This will certainly be a spot I revisit next time I'm in Vancouver.

Don't get me wrong, it's beautiful, fresh and definitely elevated, but it was $50 for 10pcs of sushi, 2 appetizer sized samples of their appetizer or entree dishes, and miso soup (which we did not get and didn't realize till much later in the day). If you're wanting an upscale experience (and portion) of good quality food or wanting to impress other parties, then this is a nice spot. For regular eats, it's a bit too luxurious to be a casual thing in my opinion. The ambiance is nice and calm. They have a patio, which has a meh view overlooking the harbor, but beware of a breezy day. It will catch a bit of a wind tunnel. They have heaters and blankets but the heaters don't really reach unless you're sitting next to it.

But in other parts of the world the meal is what's important and so is a quick turn around. Guu with Garlic reminded me a lot of the Izakaya restaurants I found under the train lines of Tokyo in many ways, including the amount of time it felt right to stay. The food came out quick, the servers took orders quicker, and the alcohol came out chilled and as nice contrast to the hot food. Looking around and you see the hand written menu on blackboard surfaces on the walls and this feeling of authenticity. The heat of the flames from the kitchen can be felt and seen if you sit at the bar. And the flavors just hit all the right notes. Starting with appetizers, a section izakayas shine at, the first dish we got was their scallop and mayo pizza. With a crispy crunch on the bottom and crust, this reminds you of the flavors of a baked volcano roll or scallop roll you can find in almost any North American sushi restaurant. Just like that dish, it's important to eat it while it's still hot so it doesn't get gross and 느끼 에. Then came the yellowtail tuna "tempura" pieces. Thick pieces of yellowtail tuna flash fried for just the right crisp on the outside with slight pink of the fish inside. It is meaty without being oily or fatty. Great bite. The beef tongue after was interesting. From the color of the sauce it accompanies it you would think it would be heavy in flavor but it is actually light and citrusy. A good cut into the richer tones of the beef tongue. The yaki udon was one of the best I ever had. It was smokey without being overpowering. The beef was thin and tender and balanced well with the mushrooms it also came with. The udon noodles stayed bouncy and chewy which I didn't expect from being grilled. Very tasty and highly recommend this dish. For our final bite we shared a hot stone bowl of their pork and cabbage rice. With the hot stone bowl constantly cooking even after this dish arrived it was imperative to stir the ingredients together constantly for the first two minutes. It allowed for the runny egg to meld with the rice and the crispy texture of some ingredients was a nice bonus. All in all, I loved eating here and if my appetite was bigger I would've tried more on their menu. A solid place to eat with a great atmosphere, if you're looking for delicious food that won't take too much of your time but still lingers in your memories you have to check out Guu with Garlic.

The unlimited rice/soup/cabbage is just icing on the cake. My dining partner had the Kake udon (pretty good, noodles good texture and slightly smaller strands than most places) and Menchi Cheese side - basically a pork meatball with cheese and deep fried katsu-style, served with katsu sauce. This was excellent. My original review still stands. Excellent katsu, plus they have the consistency and reliability. $28-30/meal and its plenty of food for 1, especially with unlimited cabbage/rice/soup. Restaurant is nice and comfortable, good spacing and not cramped. Easy recommend. 5/5.

Okeya Kyujiro is a Michelin one-star theatrical omakase restaurant, and when they say theatrical, they mean it! From the moment you're welcomed by smiling ushers in kimono to the closing tea ceremony, every movement feels intentional, precise, and elevated. The ambiance is serene and anticipatory. At the start, guests sit in silence as a black screen conceals the chefs. You see their shadows moving behind it. A bell rings, the screen lifts, and the performance begins. Dinner is a 25+ course experience priced at $325 per person. It's undeniably a splurge, but for a milestone celebration, it feels justified. The menu is seafood-forward, with many ingredients flown in from Japan. Each ingredient is presented before preparation, then carefully assembled and served directly from chef to guest. Courses arrive one by one, never rushed. The service team moves seamlessly in the background, refilling water and attending to drinks (available as an add-on) without disrupting the flow. The finale is a matcha ceremony, whisked in front of you with the same quiet precision that defines the evening. When the final sip is taken, the bell chimes once more, the chefs and staff bow, and the screens close. It was a beautifully choreographed dining experience, perfect for marking a special moment, and one I'd gladly return to for the next celebration.

Some of the dishes were very tasty while others didn't wow us. With drinks, we were quite full despite some reviews saying portion is on the smaller size. Our total was around $500 with drinks for 2 people. A really good experience for omakase, especially if you are looking for a unique experience though not my favourite one I've tried.

I like how the staff shout Japanese greetings to diners whenever they enter but between the frequent shouts and the sheer volume of chatter from all the diners, all sitting close together in close proximity, it was kinda hard to hear what my friends were saying during our dinner. That said, the environment was super vibrant and, again, my friends said this was very typical of an Izakaya in Japan. Food-wise, I have no idea what my friends ordered. The menu was primarily available by way of a QR code and I had no idea what the dishes were, so I deferred to my friends' knowledge. But I can attest that all the dishes were DELICIOUS. We had some sort of Japanese street food "pancakes" (they were wonderful). We had some sort of stirfry beef with noodles (amazing). We had two types of sashimi (omg both were so fresh and so so good!). We had a few other dishes that I can't recall, but I remember I loved them. So.... the food here was GREAT. Service was also attentive which I hadn't expected, being as busy as the restaurant was. I really liked this place but I'll probably go back in the summertime when the weather is nicer as I was cold there, and I'd dine at an off-time, when the volume wasn't so loud. (I'm too old for the loudness!).

If you care more about how sushi tastes than flashy extras, Hello Nori is a great choice. Would happily come back next time.

SAKURA BLOSSOM ROLL - brown rice - comes with a lot and delicious UNI TEMAKI (2pc) - my husband and I each had one. very refreshing with the uni and the brown rice. SOCKEYE SALMON SASHIMI- very fresh and thick slices. I had one piece - good. MENTAIKO YAKI UDON - My favorite food item from our entire trip. Omg. I can sit there all day long and just eat this. I always order this when I see it on the menu and some places really don't do a good job. VEGETABLE UDON SOUP - for our toddler
