Restaurant alone made me want to move to Eugene. Very fairly priced, salmon nigiri and maki was bomb, great selection, parking, sites to see. I cannot wait to come back. They were playing country which added to the ambiance.

It's a conveyor belt Sushi place that is not super busy during lunch hour on a weekday, part of the tables/belt were not even available/operational. Service was kind of non existent (had to ask for water), and the vibe was widescreen TVs. Let's talk food. This was a mixed bag. On the bright side, they have the best veggie roll I've ever been served at any sushi place. They put a lot of effort into this thing, really above and beyond in terms of what it includes. The wasabi was decent and the ginger was properly gingery without that fake pink coloring in it. On the downside, the other sushi rolls I had were lacking in flavor, and the cucumber salad lacked that certain bright fresh taste and flavor I expect from cucumbers. As for what was available right off the belt, it was challenging to find a roll that didn't contain krab. Of course you could order off the menu but no one ever asked me what I wanted.

This place surprised me. I had this place a few years back and forgot how it was so I decided to come back. At first, we sat down at a table and not a bar so we ordered off the menu. After a few guests left, we asked to be moved to the bar and the server happily moved our table. I have to see, this was probably the best sushi I've had in Eugene thus far and I've tried a lot of places here. The salmon was super fresh and the rolls were really tasty. My favorite item on the menu was the fried calamari as it was nice and crispy and the batter was flavorful. Overall for the price, I think this is a great spot if you are in the mood for sushi. One critique I would say is that their rolls and nigiri have a little too much rice to fish ratio but other than that, this place is great!

More tasty takeout! Beef bento is my go to! The chicken bowl is my husbands! And then always extra sushi on the side.. not that we need more food cause both our plates are more than enough, but it's all SO GOOD!! Flavor is great, and portion size keeps us coming back! Now let's talk about ordering online / delivery.. I asked in notes for beef bento because I didn't see it on menu, but I have gotten it many times so I asked them to please sub that.. and they did! Wonderful service. I personally haven't sat in the restaurant in a few years as we usually do delivery or takeout but I hope to visit soon! Go try something from here you will just be surprised at how tasty it all is.

Good service, very limited parking, food is basic/ok. Having lunch here, they premake too many of the warmer plates too early and too much, hence my sushi was cold and old when it should've been warm.

This is a really nice place for sushi , and the concept is similar to other sushi restaurants-rotating plates of sushi dishes, plus you can order stuff as well. Good service. Not super ambient. But the food is good!

Came for dinner at 5p on a Friday without reservation and were seated right away downstairs at the…read morechef's bar area. The environment is lively, mostly because Taro is personable and we were able to see him create beautiful sushi dishes live while hearing him engage with the customers seated around him. It was actually really fun listening to his stories, and seeing how he is passionate about the food he makes. He was excited about the uni and was talking about how the fish he orders is from Spain and how he really wanted to order another great cut of fish. The food was delicious, even down to the house sodas they have. We ordered the summer margarita with fresh berries, lime soda, cold beet appetizer, veggie donburi, chef's choice spicy trio hand rolls, chocolate mochi blackberry cake - and at the end Taro gave us 2 nigiri on the house. The house lime soda - usually soda is nothing to blink an eye at, but the lime flavor was fresh and just the right amount of sweetness. We were surprised by how good it was. The summer margarita was a delight, the alcohol and fresh summer flavors balanced perfectly so that neither overpowered the other. The beet appetizer was fun to try. Beets can sometimes be too earthy/muddy in flavor, but the nutty dressing paired with the salty, crunchy puffed chip paired well with the soft bites of beet. The veggie donburi bowl was much bigger than expected, and everything on it was good. The tempura tofu was well executed - silken tofu encased in a thin/crispy layer that tasted light and not greasy. The overall flavor of the bowl is akin to teriyaki, but less sweet and more of a deep umami and more smoky flavor. The handrolls had a good amount of fish to rice/topping ratio. The wasabi actually has some real wasabi in it, and the pickled ginger and soy sauce made every bite flavorful. Very filling. The fish were all fresh and tasted great. My partner who almost never eats meat couldn't resist and ate a piece of nigiri and loved it. The mochi chocolate cake was very unique and definitely worth trying. I find most chocolate cake too sweet with a generic cocoa powder flavor and too heavy. The texture of the cake is not too dense, but has a nice mochi bite to it while tasting a deep cacao flavor without it feeling too heavy. The sweet/richness is just right paired with bites of fresh blackberries. Honestly, may be the best dessert I've eaten so far this year. The interior is well decorated and pays homage to Akira the anime. The hostess who greeted us seemed stressed and it definitely showed on her face the whole night. But, our server was kind and attentive. Despite the handrolls taking ~20 mins to show up, the food was delicious and worth the wait. There is so much more to try on the menu. Will gladly come back and support Taro and crew!

We came on a weekday lunch and were able to order and receive our food quickly. I would elect the bowl is you're decently hungry since there a hearty amount of purple rice - I didn't finish it all and would get a salmon salad next time. We also tried the fried bananas that came with syrup to dip with and were surpringly really good. If you haven't tried Chi bottled drinks, you should! This stand offers 3 flavors. Overall, a clean food truck with quick, friendly service with fresh fish at a reasonable price. I only wish there were more sauces or ways to dress up/customize the dishes to taste.

What's not to like? The only thing the Monkey Brain was missing for me was a squeeze of lemon, a bit of ponzu,, or something acidic. Also, I realize this is an appetizer and not supposed to be my meal, but it was my meal, and could have also used some hot steamed rice, which I borrowed from my SO's rice bowl. Ahh, just what this dish needed. Mental note...order a side of rice with my Monkey Brain next time. My saba nigiri sushi, as per usual, was marinated in vinegar and garnished with green onion. Solid. The SO's chicken teriyaki was on a bed of veggies in a cast iron fajita type skillet. She enjoyed it saying it was "pretty good" and "not overly sauced"

The place was packed, but thankfully we were seated quite quickly with a 5-10 minute wait. The interior is cozy and welcoming. It's dimly lit with mood lighting on the tables. It felt lively since the tables were packed. We started by ordering the sake and shoyu flights and some fries with wasabi mayo while we explored the rest of their menu. We received the flights quickly. Both flights had 3 flavors and were tasty and fun to try. Each flight comes with a menu describing the flavor profile and how the drinks were made. The flavors of each flight were distinct and matched their descriptions. The fries with wasabi mayo were pretty basic fries. They were well seasoned, had a nice crunch, and the mayo had a subtle wasabi flavor without it being spicy. For our next round we ordered the salmon misoyaki, butternut squash, tofu kushiyaki, and steak kushiyaki. Unfortunately, our server forgot to bring our butternut squash, but we ended up being full with the rest of the food we ordered and just took it off our order. The salmon misoyaki was delicious - perfectly cooked, tender, and well seasoned. The mustard greens on the side added a nice sourness. The tofu kushiyaki was tender and flavorful. The steak kushiyaki was well-seasoned, but more well done than I preferred and a little tough. Next, we ordered the spinach goma ae and umeboshi unigiri. The spinach goma ae was such a pleasant surprise! It's a chilled spinach dish with a tamari/black sesame sauce that was refreshing mid-meal. Really good umami flavor! The umeboshi onigiri had the expected sharp salty/sour flavor that balanced well with the ratio of rice. Ended up dipping the umeboshi onigiri in the goma ae sauce to get every last drop. For dessert we ordered the basque cheesecake and créme brûlée. The cheesecake was just okay. The menu said there was sake and black sesame flavors, but apart from some black sesame dust on the plate we couldn't taste the sake/sesame. The texture was thick and not super smooth. It was a pretty heavy dessert and not very sweet. The créme brûlée was yummy. The custard was smooth and the crunchy caramelized sugar on top was a nice contrast in texture and flavor. The service itself was slow. We were waiting around 15 minutes between orders. Given, it was a busy night. However, we felt a bit forgotten as our server did forget to bring one of our dishes, we had to ask for our dessert menus twice, and we were accidentally served two basque cheesecakes instead of our order of cheesecake and créme brûlée. The staff were friendly, and quickly brought out the correct desserts at the end. I'd recommend ordering more dishes at once so you can enjoy more food in between orders. Would definitely come back again to try the rest of their menu. We wanted to try the Japanese sweet potato but they had sold out that night. The oysters, sashimi, and udon also looked quite good!

The restaurant is clean. The staff is very attentive. I've been there five times this month. And it's three dollars per plate. Which is 3-4 slices of sushi i usually get full from about fifteen dollar checks. And it's a great way for me to save money. It tastes very similar to sushi domo, which was my favorite restaurant in eugene, which was on green acres in the past. Before they closed down. I'm extremely satisfied with the quality. It tastes amazing and it definitely is way cheaper than any place offering the same thing or similar things. It's definitely above quality of stores. And it's definitely sitting around the quality of a medium tier restaurant that charges sixty dollars for the same thing that I can pay fifteen dollars for here. Overall, all the vegetables and food I had was fresh. It tasted great and i've never had any issues there. If I don't like something, I mean, it's only three dollars. And I just won't get that one thing again. I found many things I like on the menu. Especially the deep fried spicy salmon with avocado inside. They put a ton of avocado, and it's very delicious and smoky tasting, even. My favorite roles are definitely the ones that have like fish on top. And the imitation crab meat with avocado cucumber and cream cheese. I also like the regular tuna rolls, I find those really delicious. The ones with the little piece of tuna inside and it's wrapped in rice. I get those from the belt, and I really like the quality on those. Overall, it's a great thing to try a lot of different things. On the menu if I were you, There's scallops, although slightly fishy, I will admit are amazing for the quality and amazing for the price. I go there every single time and I order scallps. Every single time I know I will get two pieces of creamy scallops wrapped in rice and then I just pour eel sauce and soy sauce on it. And wow, the price for the money. For those scallops is so incredible. I've never once gotten sick here. I love going here. The quality is really great for the price. But it's not only that, it's an exceptional experience that doesn't cost me a ton of money. If I were you, I would go there for the plate at sushi and enjoy the experience, but it's all about what a u r into!! If you're a sushi fanatic, but can't afford sushi all the time. But want mid-tier restaurant level sushi for extremely affordable price? I would definitely consider this because I have gone there multiple times 5 times this month. And I have not broken. The bank there and I have enjoyed myself every single time. What a wonderful place 5 stars for price for my budget and quality. That's above what I paid for thank you. Every time I've gone there, there's a lot of staff in there that is kind to me. I currently have a disability, and I walk with a cane. When I go to the bathroom, there is a big rail inside. And I don't hurt myself when I sit down, because I can hold the rail sitting down. I love going here. Because I feel safe because they have booths. And they have chairs, and I need a booth to sit in. I feel very accommodative, and when I sit down in the bathroom, I feel safe like I'm not gonna fall. I feel like this is definitely my safe space restaurant and I love going here.

It reminds me of a mid-scale, small family owned, hot spot in the Silverlake/Los Angeles area where everybody goes for good food and a fun evening out. We were seated next to the doll from Squid Game. It was perfect spot because it felt like we were in the middle of the room to see everything. We joked that the Squid Game girl should speak every so often. lol Had a few of the Tiger Bomb (beer and shot of soju) drinks to start and for appetizer, we started out with a half order of the honey soy KFC. Those wings were crispy and delicious! For dinner, I opted for the bulgogi bi bim bap. It came sizzling in the cast iron bowl. I was surprised at how much meat they put in this dish. I was expecting just a few small pieces but they load it up for you. It was really good and I like how the sizzling pot was hot enough to actually crisp up the rice on the bottom. My friend had the beef bulgogi japchae. It was a big portion and since I was only allowed to try a little bit, it was all i needed to know that it was delicious. Decor was cute and service was good. Our waiter came and checked on us a few times. I'm excited to come here again next month!

I stopped in for a drink while my to go order was being made and had a Tiger Bomb, a beer with a shot of soju mixed in. The drink was great, and the service was incredibly hospitable. Even though I was just waiting on a to go order, they offered me complimentary banchan, little bites of cabbage, carrots, and cucumber, to snack on while I drank and waited. That was much more hospitality than I expected from simply picking up food. The prices are very reasonable for what you get. The portions are generous, everything tasted fresh, and the food felt genuinely high quality. The Korean fried chicken is really, really good. I got the Volcano sauce, and it is legitimately hot. Not restaurant spicy. Actually spicy. I eat the spiciest of the spicy food, and this was a good 8 out of 10 for me, which is probably a 15 out of 10 for most people. It has serious heat, but plenty of flavor underneath it. The dry rub chicken balanced it perfectly, with a tangy, acidic, savory flavor that cut through the richness and paired really well with the Volcano sauce. Crispy chicken, acid, spice, and a cold beer is a pretty hard combination to beat. I also got the kimbap with spicy pork, and that was amazing too. The rice and fillings tasted really fresh, the pork had a great savory sweetness and heat, and the vegetables added freshness and texture. Every bite had a little bit of everything. Between the food, Tiger Bomb, complimentary banchan, and service, I was already thinking I had found a new place I really liked. Then I got home. The only real downside was unfortunately the tteokbokki, which is ironic because that was the entire reason I found Tiger Mama. It was literally the term I typed into Yelp that led me there. And this is where the review gets complicated. Flavor wise, it was amazing. The sauce was sweet, tangy, savory, and a little spicy, with that deep gochujang flavor you want from tteokbokki. The fish cakes were tender, plentiful, and full of flavor. There were glass noodles, mandu, and half a hard boiled egg, giving it a lot of different textures. It felt like a more elaborate, modern take on the classic Korean dish. The rice cakes themselves were fantastic. Great size, wonderfully tender and chewy, and soaked in that delicious sauce. Honestly, the tteok I did receive might be the best I have had while dining out. My problem was that I received three of them. Three individual rice cakes. In an $18 order of tteokbokki. That was genuinely disappointing. Tteokbokki was why I came here. It was what I searched for and what drew me in. The menu picture showed plentiful, delicious little rice pillows sitting in sauce, which was exactly what I had been craving. Instead, I got a large serving of glass noodles, fish cakes, mandu, sauce, egg, and three rice cakes in a dish named after the rice cakes. If this had been the only thing I ordered, I could easily see myself leaving a sour one star review and never going back. But that would not represent the experience I had. Everything else was too good. As someone who loves Korean cuisine, both cooking it at home and eating it out, I can tell there is a lot of care put into this food. Even the tteokbokki was excellent in every respect except the rice cake quantity. The sauce was perfect, the fish cakes were great, the mandu was a nice surprise, and the sweet, spicy, tangy, savory flavors worked ridiculously well together. It also pairs really well with a beer. Or six. Unfortunately, I live too far away to have noticed until I got home, and they were already closed. I'll call tomorrow, and based on the service I received, I'm confident they'll make it right. Three rice cakes for $18 was genuinely disappointing, but I'm not going to let what seems like one portioning mistake outweigh an otherwise excellent experience. The food, atmosphere, hospitality, and care put into everything were too good. Tiger Mama is a great addition to the Whit, and I'll absolutely be back. Especially for more tteokbokki. Hopefully next time, more than three.
