Usually really like this place. If you like your typical Chinese fare from the truck that rolls up then yeah it's pretty good. Tonight we ventured here to get some usual grub but there was something different. We began with crabmeat rangoons and edamame which were both exceptional. I also ordered the caterpillar role. This is where it got dicey, the topping ruined the whole roll and tasted like smokey fish food. It completely ruined the flavor of the whole roll. Next the entrees. My moo shu pork was very good and tasty the plum sauce with it was also very good. My girlfriend's chicken terryaki however was a different story, very tissuey and somewhat pink on some ends. Would not recommend this dish. Altogether I would stick with typical dishes like friend rice or sesame chicken or general tsos. Don't get cute with what you order. read more

How is this not the best-rated restaurant in Cedar Rapids? No worries, though ... those of us who need to know already know. My favorite: Curry Shrimp. A terrific rich curry sauce, a perfect medley of vegetables and a good helping of large shrimp. My second favorite: Chinatown Tofu. Broccoli, black mushrooms and fried tofu on a sizzling plate. So delicious and rich. Did I mention the sushi? Everything is wonderful, from the Sushi House for Two to the hand rolls to pretty much everything in between. A favorite is the Staten Island Roll, which is on the specials menu most all the time. A favorite with family and friends from out of town, too. read more

Went to eat tonight with my husband. He ordered chicken teriyaki that come with white rice. So before he place the order said to server to substitute white rice with fried rice. According to menu book any substitution will charge $1. Then the server came & said not $1 but $2.50. She said that the menu book price was wrong. How supposed customer know if the price wrong or not. So we said forget it. This place have unethical business practice. You are in America follow American business practice rule, honor it then take all your menu book change it with the correct price. By the law they should honor it but don't. Seems like this place rip off your wallet. Thanks goodness the server came back & told us. read more

This place is DISGUSTING!!!! I'm from the west coast, so perhaps I'm used to "fresh" seafood. A spicy tuna roll is the quintessential, most basic, fool proof roll- and they managed to destroy even that!The tempura shrimp inside the Dragon roll tasted like old stale grease. I love Sushi House! It is affordable, fast and most important, stunningly delicious. I've been here dozens of times over the years and have NEVER had an issue - no order mixups, no billing issues, no subpar service or food, no ungodly wait times. How many restaurants can you say that about? My go to is the vegetable curry, and while I'm not a sushi person myself, my husband and extended family rave about the sushi here. I am always eager to recommend Sushi House to visitors to the area, and have been thanked for the recommendation many times. One of the greatest places to dine in town. read more

Excellent food, no doubt about it. But you may want to watch closely if you pay with cash or take it to the register yourself----trays with your cash are set up on the counter by the register and may sit there without supervision and disappear. Don't count on being an honest, regular customer to help you ---- you could end up paying twice. read more

The sushi rolls we had were delicious (not the best I've ever had), but I have to agree with some of the others that the service is lacking. Just as I put the last bite into my mouth, and was still chewing, they were already taking our plates away and getting us the bill since they obviously wanted to herd us out the door. I like to enjoy my meal and not feel rushed. I realize they need to make their money, but this situation will likely send me elsewhere in CR if I'm in the mood for sushi. read more

Our favorite Japanese restaurant in Cedar Rapids!! It's always busy at lunch and dinner. The food is always very fresh and oh so good. My currant favorite is the green dragon roll-avocado, rice and sweet potato on the inside. I love everything I've every tried there tho. I'm a vegetarian and there us plenty to choose from. My husband is a meat eater and he loves the food too. read more

Really good food for a pretty good price. The only complaint I have is the drama that goes on between the waiters, waitresses, and hosts. It can be very loud and quite annoying. I wish I could speak to the manager because of how unprofessional it is but you can't find the manager. Also, there was a bag of weed on their counter once but they threw it away. read more

Absolutely one of the top restaurants in town! They have everything and I have never had a bad experience there. The food is amazing, and I always customize my order because I'm a picky, picky girl. Who knew the best sushi I've ever had would have been in the middle of the corn fields of Iowa? I've been the major metro areas and can't find sushi this fresh and flavorful. Their entire menu is amazing, their japaneese dishes are hard to find at other resturants, let alone hard to find done to this high quality. I love their Yaki Soba and Oyakodon both have sauces that make the entire dish. Best asian resturant I've ever eaten at, by far! read more

It is rare, exceedingly rare, that I would not tip 20% in a restaurant, but this was one of those occasions. Where do I start? We arrived at 8:45 p.m. on a Saturday night. We asked if we were arriving too late (sign said the restaurant closed at 10 p.m.) and the desk staff assured us that we were not. The restaurant was not crowded as Iowa was playing Northwestern that night. In the course of our hour and 15 minutes there, we waited about 20-25 minutes for someone to take our order. As our waitress apparently went home in the middle of our meal, we had to flag down people to get something more to drink or get our bills. We were treated rudely to the very end, when yet another person came over and slapped down our credit card slips for signature on the edge of the table and just walked away. Restaurant staff started vacuuming at about 9:40 p.m., which task included picking up chairs, moving tables, and running the vacuum close to our table. I half expected them to ask us to pick up our feet. Food was mediocre, and good service would have made this an okay place to eat, but the shoddy service and frank rudeness shown us ensured that we would NEVER go there again. read more
