I would never want to be the reason somebody has to continue serving after closing time! We ordered chicken with mushrooms, Mongolian beef, and fried rice. We paid less than $40! We were told to expect 10-15 minutes wait because everything is made fresh. 12 minutes later our food was ready to go. The restaurant is clean and decorated like any other middle American Chinese restaurant. The ladies restroom was exceptionally clean. Watching the fish in the fish tanks passes the time nicely but I would have appreciated a label saying what kind of fish they are. One tank says "his name is Mushroom" which is very appropriate for the shape of the fish! We had a very short drive to our hotel and the car smelled amazing. The fried rice was perfect, absolutely perfect! It was perfectly cooked, tender but separate grains of buttery well seasoned rice with super sweet peas. Excellent flavor! The chicken with mushrooms was exactly what my Mama was hoping for. The Mongolian beef was very tender and saucy but not at all spicy. This is my only complaint... don't show me a spicy red pepper on the menu and then give me a dish with no spice! Don't get me wrong, the dish is delicious! It's just NOT SPICY! I wanted some heat on my meat!

Y'all. I love this restaurant. I moved across the country a…read morefew years ago, and every time I come back to the area, I go here, because in my opinion, this is the best Chinese restaurant I've ever been to. I get so annoyed every time I go out for Chinese and it's bad, because I already know a place where they make good chinese, it's just far away. No, it's not Authentic Chinese. It's American Chinese. Those are two distinctly different cuisine styles, and if you're looking for Authentic Chinese in Independence, IA, who are you and what are you doing? Don't get me wrong, I lived in central China for a grip and would go nuts over a place that just *does the dang thing* with enoki mushrooms, but I recognize there's not really a market for that in Independence. This is the best American Chinese I've ever had. Period. The Happy Family is amazing. The crab rangoons are the best I've ever had, and have totally spoiled me to other crab rangoons (Panda Express should shutter their doors in shame that they'll never be as good as Choung Garden). The eggrolls are pretty good, but are truly elevated when dipped in hot mustard. I've been going there for like, two decades, and sure, sometimes service is a touch slow, but I *much* prefer that to having a waitron come check on me every few minutes. The people that work there are super nice, but not overly familiar, which, again, that's perfect. The prices are sensible. I've never had an experience with them where dishes are dirty or gnats are present, and I've been there probably hundreds of times at this point. I'm just saying, I go here every chance I get, and you should, too.

I popped online and ordered like 30lbs of food for under $75. It was correct, made fresh, and ready on time! Pricing is right, too, as the entrees are pretty hefty. I stand by my last review. BEST. CHINESE. TAKEOUT. SPOT. Our order last night included: rangoons, vegetable rolls, egg drop soup, sesame chicken, orange chicken, mongolian beef, fried rice, white rice and lo mein. Perfection. Oh, and they threw in some free fried donuts with our order! Lots and lots of leftovers. My only qualm with Long Xing's is they don't deliver and its not really a 'eat in' type of spot.
