This is a hidden little gem tucked in the corner of a strip mall. Went on a Thursday for lunch and there was a good crowd. Great service and fast food! We had the lunch combo which included an appetizer, entree and drink for $15. The crab rangoons were fabulous as were the spring rolls. The pot stickers were decent. All of the entrees were great. My daughter thought the Pad Thai lacked the peanut sauce but had a good taste. I had the yellow curry that had just the right amount of spice. I was really antsy to try this place and they did not disappoint. It's a weird space, but the staff is very friendly and the food is delicious. Located in the corner of a strip mall, the outside is really unremarkable. I've never seen the shades up, which I thought meant they were closed all the time. And the entrance is actually off of another sketchy hallway and leads you to a wall of folding room dividers creating a walkway separate from the dining area. The back wall enclosing the kitchen reminded me of a high school theatre set. The servers were so patient with us while my dad tried to decide on our meal. We ordered potstickers and chicken satay for appetizers. Both of which were very good. My dad ended up ordering a combo meat Pad Woonsen and asked for it to be a 2/5 spicy - "good, but very mild." I went with my usual Panang curry, which our waitress said came as a 1/5 spicy but for me it was more like a 3. Overall, I don't know if it's the best Thai food I've had, but it was better than I expected and it definitely holds up to the Chicago restaurants I'm used to. I already want to go back for my own order of Pad Woonsen and to try some of the other dishes on their menu as well! read more

Excellent! This is one of our go-to takeout lunch options at work. They have THE BEST crab rangoons - good amount of the cream-cheese/crab and a crispy wonton outer layer! We recently moved to the area (NL) from San Francisco and this is the first time I've been satisfied with the food around here. I got the Pad Kee Mao, with the level 5 (the hottest!) spice. New Year's Eve night. Decided to try Siamville. Been awhile since we were here last and we were a little concerned when only 3 tables were in use. It turns out, they do a pretty good take out business. I had the yellow curry. I'm a wimp when it comes to spicy food. I've ordered it here before, and they definitely kicked it up a notch. As a foodie who has lived all over California from the Bay Area to LA, Santa Barbara, OC and San Diego I have had the luxury of having every type of Asian food under the sun at my disposal. Needless to say, I know GOOD Thai food when I see it (taste it). I flew to Iowa last weekend for my cousin's wedding which I haven't been able to visit since I was 5. I heard Asian food in Iowa is practically non-existent and sub-par yet my Aunt and I were craving Thai food and was willing to give Siamville a shot. Upon arrival we noticed the restaurant was located in the corner of a small shopping complex with completely covered windows that doesn't allow customers (and potential customers) to see through the window. That should have warned us of what laid ahead but we wanted our Pad Thai and Tom Yum soup and so we proceeded inside. Service was ridiculous slow, there was only one waiter working and he was running around the restaurant trying to wait on the 8-9 parties that were present. I typically get the Chicken Pad Thai or the Thai Beef salad when I go to Thai places because of how much I love the tangyness of the noodles that Thai food is known for but was convinced by my aunt to try something new this time. I settled for the Larb salad with ground turkey--an interesting option on the menu which was recommended by the server. My aunt ordered the Tom Yum soup which she was surprised to find out there was an additional cost to include sea food (which is usually already included in the soup). After a LONNNNGGG 20-30 min. wait for our food (which I spent my time compiling my Yelp review) I was sadly greeted with a plate of butchered ground turkey and a few sprigs of cilantro stirred in. PATHETIC. There was also no 'roasted rice' to be seen or tasted. My aunt's soup was PATHETIC as well. She could not find any tofu in her soup and the 'scallops' she ordered were no where to be found and instead received a plate full of tough calamari. I was so upset with my meal I left it untouched and my aunt took three sips of her soup and pushed it aside. The server came by 20 min. into our meal and asked how we liked our food ( that sat untouched on our table in front of us). Seriously?! If you want good Thai food I recommend NOT COMING HERE. read more

Sketchy storefront in a strip mall and enter through an odd foyer with random doors... this is one of those don't judge a book by its cover sort of places. Spicy Crab Rangoon for appetizer (not typically a Thai thing, but tasty and a perfect start to the meal!) I think five came out so there was a tussle over who got that last one.Then Pad Thai with chicken and Panang Curry with beef; I wish both dishes had more heat in terms of spice. Must remember this when ordering midwest food. I'm huge fan of sauces and coconut flavor so the curry was on pretty much on point, but I do think the star of the show was the Pad Thai. Overall a pleasing meal and would return. Our waitress was fabulous as well! She deserves a nod for knowing the menu and making helpful suggestions. read more

I hate doing this but it is past time for me to downgrade Siamville from 4 to 3 stars. They are my favorite Thai restaurant in the area but that's not saying much considering how weak the competition is. At one time Siamville was very good, not so much today. Apparently the restaurant has new owners and new staffing. We noticed a decline in both the quality of the food and restaurant ambiance several years ago. The restaurant ambiance is bad at best. Dingy run down strip mall location. Inside the restaurant is very, very dark. You cannot read a book in there unless you are seated next to a window. Restroom locations are bad...you walk through a food storage location to get to them. Inside they are very run down. Come on Siamville, you can be much better than this! read more

I'm 1/2 Thai and 1/2 Filipino. I ordered Spring Rolls, Shrimp Chips and the red curry with beef. Spring Rolls were average. Shrimp Chips were way over priced (I buy them for home and know the cost). You get about 10 shrimp chips and a box (that has about 50 that you fry) is around $3.00. The red curry seemed to be missing coconut milk (verified by my dinner guest as well). Nice portion. I am a complete brat when it comes to Thai food having been spoiled by the Thai in Los Angeles where I currently live (I am originally from here). Their food is very tasty and rivals some of the Thai restaurants in LA. Siamville Thai Cuisine is a hit every single time we go. The to go pick up process is smooth and they have never messed up our order. Our favorites starters are crab Rangoon, spicy Rangoons and shrimp spring spring rolls. The Rangoons are full of crab and the best in the area. The wonton soup is also great it has spinach, mushrooms and full of sausage stuffed wontons - I like to add a bit of their chili paste to give it a little kick. I like the pineapple rice and sub all shrimp while my kid and husband like the pork fries rice. Mango sticky rice is the most perfect way to end your meal. Honestly every dish we have tried has been good maybe even great but we keep going back for the favorites I've mentioned. read more

Well so here I am in Cedar Rapids Iowa. So of course I'm looking for the nearest Thai place, cause you know, like, it's Cedar Rapids. At first I was all "oh no! Maybe they don't have Thai food! That would suck!" Then I came across this place! And found out that Cedar Rapids doesn't have Thai food. Listen don't get me wrong, the Indian food I had was stunning. One of the best curries I've had, minus the naan bread of course because you know this is a Thai place. Overall this is a decent place and would serve well as an "introduction" to Thai food, but I wish they'd get more ambitious and really surprise you with the food. I'm just not satisfied with good, especially for the price. Also, the setting is awkward. I would write my review in separate contexts to help those who are visiting this place:- Food : I have been visiting this place for quite some time and the food is awesome. They have a very nice taste and have never been a disappointment. My fav is the Thai Sweet Tea in drinks. Do experience that. Service: The service I found have recently gone down to a level where employees are quite rude. This wasn't a case until recently. I just happened to ask for a box while getting done with lunch and the server was pretty rude to pass mumbling comments (not worthy to mention here) while getting the box for me and handing it over to me. When I went to give a constructive feedback to the manager, they rather started shouting at me and I was taken a little too aback by this episode. Bottom line: Food is good but its like eating good food in jail , with servers acting as jail wardens. They aren't in business of customer service, were you to expect that. A quick grab lunch would be good, but taking someone out to dinner/lunch here would be a bad idea. read more

We dined here yesterday. Upsides: Service was good. Food was exquisite (best thai food we've had in a long while!). Downsides: The bathrooms are not of a quality reflected in the serving area, the service, and the food. The serving area has while table-cloths, slightly dimmed lighting, an atmosphere that speaks of formal dining. The baths? Completely opposite. The modeling of the baths and the appearance of the hallway leading there looked like this was a business that was just starting out or one that was trying to front a façade. I ordered a chicken pad thai, my wife ordered red curry with chicken, my kids chose the beef and chicken fried rice (separate entrées). We also ordered appetizers of crab rangoon and chicken satay. All of the food was delicious. VERY good. The crab rangoons were of a good size, they could have been cook slightly longer to be a little more crispier. The cream filling was good, the texture was a good balance between "too fluffy" and "too pasty". The taste was a nice amount of creaminess without being either too strong or weak. The chicken satays were tasty as well! The size of the meat (on a stick) was good, they were cooked to a delicious tenderness and the peanut sauce was of a more thinner preparation, but flavorful. It complimented the chicken very well. Don't do what I did, dipping in the sauce from across the table and dripping all the way to the plate. (sorry guys!) The pad thai was prepared very well. The sauce had a delicious aroma, it was not too strong or overpowering, and the taste as well, not too strong. The noodles were cooked well with the sauce and they tasted good as well. The vegetable and peanut ingredients were fresh and complimented well with the thai noodles. The noodles were soft, the right amount that they were not disintegrating nor too stiff/under cooked. The amount of meat was good, the chicken was tender and cooked well with the sauce as well (thus had a good taste too). I had a few fork-fulls of the fried rice, the rice (both the chicken-fried and beef-fried) was cooked well and both tasted good. The meat in both was tender and plentiful. My wife's dish was tasty and spicy (as expected). She enjoyed her dish. I found that the curry sauce was of a sufficient proportion to the meat/vegetables and although it was thin, it was not "watered down". It too was flavorful, as was the freshness of the meat and vegetables. The only part I didn't like about the dish (which doesn't really kill the dish) was that there were a *lot* of ginger strips. Just too much for my taste. The ginger tasted good and it was good with the dish, but there were a lot in my opinion and I'm guessing that this was the chef's idea for how the entrée was to be prepared. I also noticed that there was not that much pepper (I can't recall if it was sliced bell pepper or sweet pepper?). So I would decrease the ginger by 1/3, increase the pepper by the same amount. The service was good, waiting times were reasonable including food prep times, I can't recall if there were check-backs (I'm sure there may have been). The costs were about $10/entrée, $7/appetizer. We don't live in CR, but we needed food on-the-fly (who can say 'no' to thai??) because of hungry people and this place definitely delivered! (That was metaphorically speaking. We dined in, we did not do delivery or take-out.) If we needed or wanted thai again, I know where we're going. STC, you did a good job, but you REALLY NEED to remodel those bathrooms and clean out that hallway. If anyone saw pics of those places before the rest of the restaurant, they would *not* come. I put "divey" in the additional survey questions because the bath's/hallway were of that quality. But I also checked "intimate" and "classy" because the dining area was definitely a step above casual. read more

Siamville is in the exact location that "Thai Flavors" used to be (in fact as of 8/26/08 they have yet to take down the lighted sign for thai flavors on the store front.) This is not the old Thai Flavors...the place has been completely remodeled and the menu has been upgraded. There is even a liquor license now so you can purchase beer or wine to enjoy with your meal. The food was very good, I tried the special of the day which was stir fried eggplant with Shrimp...I'm not really sure why I didn't try the pad thai, but at least I have something to try next time. My wife tried the Beef Salad and found it to be HOT!! She did however really enjoy the tom kha soup. That seemed to be especially authentic. The service was a little slow, but I imagine because of the "help wanted" sign that they are still looking for additional wait staff to supplement the one poor fellow who served us. All in all a very good place and one we will definitely look forward to visiting again. read more
