Long Xings did it again! Alas, it was a Sunday night and I really, really did not want to cook. Add to that, Chinese just sounded amazing. I popped online and ordered like 30lbs of food for under $75. It was correct, made fresh, and ready on time! Pricing is right, too, as the entrees are pretty hefty. I stand by my last review. BEST. CHINESE. TAKEOUT. SPOT. Our order last night included: rangoons, vegetable rolls, egg drop soup, sesame chicken, orange chicken, mongolian beef, fried rice, white rice and lo mein. Perfection. Oh, and they threw in some free fried donuts with our order! Lots and lots of leftovers. My only qualm with Long Xing's is they don't deliver and its not really a 'eat in' type of spot. Long Xing still has my number. At least once a month we're treating ourselves to their delicious menu (more often during the winter months because they're on my comfort foods list). I've branched out to try a few new-to-me things since my last review, but it's hard to not order my favorites. Because the business is so kind, we've received (and eaten) more donuts than I care to admit! We spend at least $40 on food each time we visit and leave a good tip. Online ordering is easy and if the restaurant has any questions about your order, they will call. Super friendly staff. I think the dining room is still closed, but don't let that stop you from returning or trying Long Xing for the first time. read more

This place is now my go to when I visit my parents. Everything they do, they do well. Take out is always nicely packaged, the portions are great, but the flavors top the bill! The staff in the front are always happy and friendly, and it seems they are busy no matter what time you go in. This was both my daughters first time trying them and they loved it. This is the fare I grew up with in CT, and if we had one like them where we live out West, I would order from them every other day. Egg Fu Yong is the stuff of legend, with huge chunks of roast pork and vegs, and thankfully with the gravy on the side (I prefer potsticker sauce over it). If you are craving crazy good Chinese food while supporting a small business in your community then you have made the right choice!! My friends and I picked up several entrees, fried rice, lo mein, and crab rangoons for a little painting party that we did. And boy did this place deliver in deliciousness. They were so kind for throwing in scallion pancakes (not pictures) and fried donuts for free. But the most jaw dropping part of all, all of the food we got was under $100. How?!?! By serving up great tasting food at such an affordable price they sure got my attention and I know where I'll be going every time that Chinese food craving! I savored every bite and there was enough food for all of us to take home and get another meal (or two) out of the leftovers. They also so thoughtful for calling me to ask if I wanted chow mein or lo mein. Because the former would've just been vegetables and the latter actually had noodles. For Americanized fast Chinese food --- this place is it. Everything we have ordered from here is good -- with a few things being outstanding. With Covid, call ahead and place an order. When you go to pick up, they have one of the safest experiences around. A large plexiglass separates you and those working at the restaurant and you you can tell that they took the pandemic and customer/staff safety seriously. The beef chow mein is really delicious. The noodles are soft, the beef is juicy and the fried egg is delicious. Not too many vegetables which is just fine by me lol. The egg drop soup is a winner. I add some fresh ground pepper before digging in -- plenty of egg to soup ratio and the soup base is rich and satisfying. I could literally pour into a to-go mug and drink this everyday. The shrimp fried rice is also really good. Big juicy shrimp -- could've used some more fried egg though. You must get the crab Rangoon -- the filling is out of this world good. Creamy, crabby and umami in one bite. If you get the sweet and sour chicken, know that you'll have leftovers for days. They fill the container up and the quality of the chicken is really good -- although I like dark chicken (which is what I think they use). Since moving in to Iowa. This has been the best Asian cuisine I have been able to find. The egg rolls are massive and so tasty. The lo mein was good. Missing some sauce for flavor and texture. The orange chicken is nice and crunchy. The egg drop soup was missing some flavor for me. But over all good. I would wait on trying to eat the soup first. It was scorching hot. Literally burned the roof of my mouth. The fried rice is so good. First time seeing yellow fried rice. The beef and broccoli was great. Definitely would have appreciated the broccoli to be cooked longer. I prefer my broccoli soft and crunchy. This was more like Panda Express crunchy. But. Maybe next time I can just ask for it to be well done? Any how the white rice was also nice and fluffy. We ordered general tso's and orange chicken for our entrees and they were your standard Chinese take out. They were good, generous portions, well-sauced and great flavor. For our sides we did crab Rangoon and steamed potstickers which in my opinion were the highlight of the meal. The Rangoon was very good and the potstickers were perhaps the best I've ever had. I will also say the portions were very generous for the price. In a time where everyone is charging more and giving less, it was nice to buy a meal where you walk away feeling that you definitely got your money's worth. It is still take-out-only. There is no seating in the restaurant, so keep that in mind. I will probably stop by again to try more entrees and, if for nothing else, the Rangoon and steamed potstickers. If you're looking for excellent Chinese takeout for a great price, look no further. Long Xing is in a strip mall a few stores down from La Regia, another hole-in-the-wall restaurant with exceptional food, so it's no surprise that this place provides amazing food in massive quantities (we're talking leftovers on leftovers) for incredible prices. My husband wanted to celebrate his birthday last night with takeout, and we decided to change it up with our usual Chinese takeout place, and I'm so glad we did. For starters, I'm used to struggling to find good vegetarian options that aren't just "here's some noodles/rice and veggies, sans meat." I'm pretty sure my entire week was made when I realized that Long Xing offered sesame tofu! The tofu itself was well prepared if a bit difficult to chew, which I blame on the difficulty of getting the coating to stick on tofu (versus, say, chicken). The serving size was HUGE. Seriously I'm going to be eating tofu for days. Other than the tofu, we went a little overboard with our dinner -- shrimp lo mein, veggie fried rice, egg rolls, spring rolls, and of course some fried donuts. First, I'll point out that I added a side dish of veggie fried rice to my tofu, and it was just as large as a small order of rice, so it's cheaper to order it as a side with your main dish versus ordering it separately. Second, the egg rolls and spring rolls were both PHENOMENAL, and the spring roll is the perfect option for vegetarians (packed with flavor and tasting oh so fresh). Finally, the fried donuts. My husband ordered them out of curiosity, but they were the cherry on top of a perfect meal. Plus you get TEN of them. TEN. They're exactly what you want in a donut -- coated in sugar, light and fluffy, with that oily flavor that harkens back to a funnel cake. I had to stop at three of them. I could have eaten all ten. Other than the food, which itself made for a five-star meal, we were so impressed by their COVID-19 setup. They've literally constructed a plexiglass wall with cutouts to pass food and payment back and forth, so there's no direct contact between staff and customer. It's brilliant and, considering how much business they undoubtedly get, it makes for a real sense of safety, which is a nice change of pace right now. So what are you waiting for?! read more
