This place is a huge Asian food buffet in a brand new building. The interior is bright and airy, everything seemed clean and modern and new. Despite it being pretty busy, we were seated right away and our fountain drinks stayed full the whole time we were there. The staff we talked to were polite and friendly. They have a full Chinese buffet with anything you could want. Lots of meat and seafood dishes, lots of fried options and vegetables, and everything stayed full, they were rotating dishes and refilling things constantly. There's a hibachi station, and a pho station where you can choose your own ingredients and then wait a few minutes while they cook it. There's a wall of sushi and lots of dessert options. Everything we tried was really good, from the familiar Chinese food, to the less common dishes. We'll be back, this place is brand new, so hopefully it's able to stick around! read more

We went for lunch. Positives: - there was a huge selection - items were kept refreshed - there were some "made to order items (Pho and Hibachi) - there were many seafood options -- shrimp, mussels, oysters, octopus salad, baked scallops, etc. - there were many vegetarian and vegan options - the tableside service (refreshing drinks, removing extra plates, etc.) was very good - the space was brightly lit, clean, and reasonably quiet, even though they were very busy. Restrooms were also spotless. Negatives: - the pricing needs to be more transparent: There is a tableside menu of drink options, but no indication that they are nearly $3 each. I think we were given a $1 senior discount, but none of the online or onsite pricing information indicated senior discounts. Evidently, the ice cream costs extra. But, there were no signs that indicated this. - some food labels were misleading. For example, many items indicated that they were crab dishes. They were obviously imitation crab. Fake crab is commonly called imitation crab, krab sticks, or surimi. It is made from finely pulverized whitefish and starch, shaped to resemble crab meat. Items need to be labeled correctly! - The quality of items varied tremendously. My favorites were the black pepper chicken and crab rangoon. But, every bit of beef that I tasted (in several different dishes) was as if it came from a 35-year old bull -- tough and tasteless. Some of the chicken was filled with fat and skin; others were very good. - The dessert options, other than the fried donuts, were BORING! (Jello, or vanilla pudding, anypone?) - If I owned this restaurant, I would promote that many vegetarian and vegan options are available. It would be easy to add to the website, and commonly understood vegetarian and vegan symbols could be added to the labels. read more

Sometimes when going to a buffet the food can be old and tasteless, but not here. Everything is constantly being replaced and made fresh even if some is still left to dish. When I went it was PACKED will a line out the door. However there is so much seating the line moved fast and we were able to get seated right away. There's so much to pick from and everything is delicious from sushi, to hibachi to sweat and sour to chicken to pizza and desserts. Everything is fresh and hot. I would recommend. read more

Hands down the most quality restaurant in the city, and also competitively priced! The staff are attentive but not overbearing, the variety of the buffet has never been surpassed by any other in my whole life, and the only change I would make is to have more sound absorption in the decor due to my dad's hearing loss when I take him here so that he could more easily understand our conversation. They also have a hibachi bar that is cooked to your specifications and a sushi bar with a large selection of rolls! The atmosphere is very kid friendly and welcoming! The staff is always checking in on you and attentive to your needs! Golden Apple Buffet is filled with tons of seating that is comfortable and easy to take a nap in after stuffing yourself with this delicious food! They also have very clean and upscale restrooms! Waited till I experienced both weekdays lunch and evening/weekend menus to comment. Both are delicious. The later menu has different items like crawfish, octopus, tilapia, ribs and battered shrimp. Lunch menu has more items to place upon your bed of rice like Mongolian chicken. Both meals offered endless choices of fruit. Watermelon on the later meal, lychee's on the lunch meal. The staff is very attentive not only to the patrons but also to the cleanliness of the eating areas and buffet space. The tables are spaced out far enough you are not sitting on the person behind you. I am not a sushi or hibachi person, so I cannot comment on those items. The ice cream is commercially prepackaged and is vanilla, chocolate, strawberry or sherbet. Overall a very pleasant experience and price wise, for the items available to eat ( endless chicken wings, endless breaded shrimp, endless crawfish, endless ribs, endless salmon, tilapia etc.) it's a very reasonable price point. read more

The food was super good! Me and my family went here after a orthodontist visit. The service is really good too! They come and go around the restaurant and get plates and stuff your done with them. And the ambiance is amazing! It's simple but really nice. When you walk in your greeted by a silly astronaut speaker with some colorful bears you can buy! There's also a ton of Asian food but some American foods too. By the end of our visit we were super full! Best buffet I've been to! If your in the area definitely give it a try! read more

We finally made it to this much-hyped buffet. Here is my assessment of their food quality, selection, and service. We got there thinking they just opened for the day in order to beat the crowd. The hostess told us they open at 10:30 am. The staff was courteous & friendly and seated us in a booth. They offered plenty of choices, of which I sampled many in order to give them a fair chance to impress my palate. Overall, their Asian food was pretty decent & plentiful. The Sushi was decent but lacked much when it came to the frills and flavors we have come to appreciate from top-notch Sushi establishments like the Sushi House. The cooks seem to not be aware that chilled, cooked shrimp needs to have their digestive tracks removed before serving. My wife reported that, other than the French fries, the chicken-heavy, traditional American food was un-inspiring. The desert choices were very disappointing. I get why the price of eggs has likely made making coconut macaroons too costly but no asian buffet worth it's salt skips this crowd-pleasing option. When your best choice of desert is mass-produced almond cookies, you basically have failed the desert category. On the positive side, the green muscles were very tasty & a nice offering due to the fact that these are un-common in Iowa. Unlikely, we will go back but I do feel that they offer a nice variety of food at a fair price, for people wanting to stuff themselves and are looking for a slight quality upgrade over fast food. read more

This place definitely reminded me of another Chinese buffet called Peking, right of the bat Golden Apple was much more sanitary and they gave us actual dinnerware instead of paper and plastic stuff, they had a big variety of options I definitely recommend the low mein noodles and pot stickers, the American foods were not exactly fresh or that good but that's to be expected in a Chinese buffet, overall the food was good quality, the staff were very kind and everything was clean. What witnesses I was utterly disgusted and disappointed in these individuals. Their wait time was between 5-10 mins to my surprise I witness two black gentleman in line ahead of two white gentlemen. The black men received a # (1 to be exact) and the white men received the # (2). To my surprise shortly after receiving their # (white men) they #2 were called and seated first. Waiting a full 10 mins the black men were then called. If this wasn't some racist bs idk what it was.... Thing is if your business and staff are gonna be racist why even have one?
