There's a Denny's and a Japanese Restaurant next door again... at Abbotsford it was Yummy Sushi and in Langley it's Sushi Gio... both have bento lunches, both have great prices and both gives a lot of sushi rolls! Both are excellent! Both served tea in the beginning nice... with the lunch a Is this how Canadian Japanese restaurants all are? Anyways, I've been very impressed by the quality of the food as well as the love that is put into making each dish... from the sushi, to the main course and the tempura fry... all excellent and 10's for everything! Even though it was lunch, I got 8 pieces of sushi rolls 8.5/10... two different kinds... the beef teriyaki was similar to Yummy Sushi with stir fry veggies underneath but Gio also put rice underneath 8.5/10... the tempura was spot on 9/10... Yummy gave me salad which I did miss, but that was a small thing... the inside was newer and nicer looking 8/10... I will come back again... My friend and I came here for dinner. He mentioned to me that the best deal is coming here during lunch time because they have big portion at a very good price. We got chicken karaage to share and two rolls: gio roll and awesome roll. Their sushi was very tasty. Everything was made upon ordering and was very fresh. Service was a hit and miss. There was only server working when we were there. The decor was quite modern. The place was pretty well kept. The restaurant has plenty of parking. In town (Langley, B.C) for work and staying at a nearby hotel...I decided to try this place because it was close and the reviews were not awful on Yelp or Google. I got a roll combo (California and Dynamite) and a tempura appetizer that comes with 1 shrimp and veggies (mostly squash). As you can see from the picture the rolls are full of crab salad. This is not the California and Dynamite rolls I am used to. Where is the avocado in the California Roll? And you can barely see the shrimp in the Dynamite role. The rice was also slightly too mushy. Could not find anything to complain about. Restaurant is clean, with a nice aesthetic, and the staff were really friendly. They were able to host our party of 10 all in a row, which was amazing. However the food is definitely selling point. Incredibly affordable price point for the size of rolls that you get and the freshness of the seafood. Portion sizes in general were decent from the teriyaki, to the tempura, and the rolls. All in all we split 4-5 rolls amongst the table and definitely had more than enough to go around. Some of my favorite rolls were the Gio Dragon roll and the House Special Roll. Both rolls have a good selection of fillings and the flavors were amazing. read more

Full marks for Sushi Gio. The dishes were all great. The hot food came out hot and quickly, the sushi was beautifully presented. My favorite roll was the Spicy Blast roll- it wasn't too spicy, don't worry. The service was efficient and helpful. I love that this restaurant is so close to our hotel. Originally we were planning to go to Dairy Queen afterwards, but the portions are so healthily large here there was no room for a Blizzard. We will be back! My favorite roll was the tempura yam loved the hint of sweetness from the yam, the crunchy part of the tempura and dipped in spicy mayo really balanced it out. Mango roll is also a must try. I went there with my fiancé. The lady brought tea and menu together. Put the tea beside the big menu and as opened the menu and it accidentally knocked over the tea glass, and the tea spilled on the table. The outside of the restaurant is not reflective of how nice inside the restaurant is. The restaurant looks like it used to be a fast food restaurant as the take out window is covered up and drive through lane still is visible. However, upon entering into the restaurant, you are greeted with an upscale casual atmosphere. I ordered the Gio 2 lunch special. Food arrived beautifully presented. There was an okay amount of food for an average eater. Udon was alright. The rolls and nigiri were good. Overall, a yummy meal. Service was good until we paid. Staff dropped off food fairly quickly and refilled tea regularly. Then staff dropped off the bill and hinted us to pay. Once we paid and kept chatting, there was no tea refill despite the restaurant being quiet post lunch rush. read more

It's is a decent date place because of the ambience- soft light... ya know. The downfall of this place is the amount of food you get. If you're in a diet, this place will be it. I give this place a second star for atmosphere and the server was very nice HOWEVER, they charge $1-2 for substitutions for items like Ebi to Salmon nigiri in their combos due to "more work for the chef". When it's the same cost on the menu. I will never come here again because of that as I don't support CHEAP owners and UNFAIR restaurants. Also the sushi nigiri pieces were very SMALL and the rolls were ok but the portions for everything were small. These people need to be better at business and customer service and much more generous with portions and substitutions or this restaurant won't last long. read more

It was my first time at Sushi Gio, I had great expectations entering into such a well-designed restaurant with dimmed, classy lighting. The menu had a wide variety of options but was slightly more on the pricey scale for a sushi restaurant. The sushi was pretty tasty, however, the texture of the rice was stale. Also, the chicken in the teriyaki roll was burnt and tasted bitter. As a university student, I would not recommend Sushi Gio as a casual stop for lunch, but it would sure make a great place for a planned get together with some old friends. read more

For a sushi place in Langley I'm very pleasantly surprised of the quality and effort thats behind each dish. It's not japanese and not authentic by any means. (no sushi place in langley is) But authenticity doesn't aways equal deliciousness. In Sushi Gio's case it certainly does affect how great each and every dish tasted. Amazing plating and classy decor is enough to win over anyone. The food portions are generous. Upon locating this restaurant one would think it is a fast food place and indeed it was, once upon a time. The entrance can be bit confusing but once located you will be pleasantly surprised by the interior: Soft lighting and nice wall decor and a neat lighting display in the centre of the restaurant. I came here with some friends and since I was getting over a cold I proceeded to order the veggie udon for my sore throat and stuffy nose. For my hungry tummy I couldn't resist ordering some sushi so I placed an order for the California roll. The udon was filled with veggies and was a good sized bowl of broth. The broth was warm and flavourful ( I did have to add some spice to it) The California roll was good too the rice held up nicely in the roll and the crab was a reasonable amount. I love sushi gio I haven't been for awhile because I moved but my family and I (sometimes with friends too) go there very often sometimes to the point where it's like at least once a week or once in two weeks. Great food, reasonable price, and friendly staffs. Korean sisters that works together but because of family sometimes they switch and occasionally they would all go on vacation so there would be a temporary chef. Atmosphere is quite nice and calming not a very quiet but not too loud either. I personally aren't big on their udon but rolls, appetizers, and nigiri are great! Been to Sushi Gio a few times and enjoyed it, but won't be back after this last experience. As someone who has a allergy to sesame, I have to be careful, making sure to articulate it multiple times when ordering. Unfortunately, after taking a couple bites of the tuna poké I ordered (they put garnish on top/like a mini salad), I realized they had put sesame seeds between the garnish and fish. When I brought this to their attention, they apologized and brought me a new poké with substantially less fish, and still charged for the dish on my bill. Five stars are not given lightly. It requires at least one moment of delight, amazing food and great service. Sushi Gio delights from the moment you enter. The interior is upscale and much more pleasant than you may infer from the exterior. We were sat immediately, offered drinks and our slightly wobbly table corrected quickly. The first course came out rapidly and created the 2nd moment of delight - the Akadashi Tofu looked like a banana split in color and presentation - it was outstanding. Eaten so quickly I failed to grab a photo. When we ordered mains our waiter guided our choices by asking what we were looking for and making adroit suggestions that gave us value and a better selection in the end. The core sushi offerings were in the top 10% of all sushi I have had in North America, but the combination of service, atmosphere, value, and local location makes this restaurant a new favourite. read more

This has to be my first time eating Japanese and skipping the sushi. I am extremely happy with the result though. I had the chicken Karachi to start. It was well presented and had a good crisp with juicy chicken. The flavour was mild so it made a good starter. I had the spicy seafood soup and would rave about this until I got cut off. The broth was amazing flavourful while still bringing a good drip to the nose. You could tell that they char the vegetable before making the soup as it had an excellent smokey flavour. I was so pleased with the meal (and perhaps to cool my mouth) I decided to get the mango ice cream. I don't have a sweet tooth and this perfectly ended my meal.
