Hirame is a really great option for sushi in Langley, whether you like it raw or cooked. They have a wide selection of special sushi rolls that have far surpassed the selection at other sushi restaurants I have been to. The restaurant is very accessible. There is plenty of parking in front, or around, Hirame as it is located among a handful of other stores with what looks like a communal parking lot. The restaurant has a cozy interior and there was a good buzz inside during the lunch hour. It's evident that Hirame is a popular spot for lunch. Unfortunately, we had a party of five, including a baby who was still too small for a high chair. I would highly recommend calling in and making a reservation ahead of time with a request if you need more space because we were placed at a table that was too small for our party. The baby's car seat did not fit inside the booth so someone had to carry him the whole time we were in the restaurant. It would have been a lot more comfortable had the bigger booths been available. Our server was really great, and tried to accommodate, but it was out of their hands. The food was great. A friend is a regular to Hirame's and I could certainly see why. The food was delivered quite quickly after ordering, and the fish was SO fresh. We ordered tuna and salmon sashimi, and I was struck by how lucky we are on the west coast to have so much amazing fresh fish available to us. We also ordered the Spider Roll and California Rolls. The Spider roll was good, and the portion was large. I didn't have the Bento Box B, but the friend that ordered it thought it tasted good. When considering the price and the portion of the items, I would say it is worth the price. I would definitely come back to try the other special rolls and the sashimi again! My only criticism was that it took a while to flag down a server to have our order taken. It took three of us several attempts at making eye contact, 'excuse me'-ing, and waving before a server made their way over. Additionally, it took us a few more attempts later on during our meal to request for more tea. They were all quite friendly and prompt once their attention was caught and requests were made, though.

Hirame is a small sushi restaurant in Brookswood. The restaurant has a nice ambience to it, very homey. Furniture are nice abs the restaurant is well kept. Service is nice. They remember regulars and are well mannered to all guests. They refill your cup at the right times, when you don't have food stuffed in your mouth. The sushi is delicious as they have lots of special rolls to choose from, while having a good selection of sushi essentials. The one thing about the sushi is that their rolls are massive, it's hard to fit the whole thing in your mouth. It takes 2 bites to eat a roll. I would want a taste of everything and have the ingredients flow together instead of having it split up tasting different parts each bit. Prices are quite expensive but then again, the rolls are enormous.

Ok....I'm impressed. Usually sushi places are pretty much all the same. Not this place! They have 100 special rolls. And they are super creative!! I ordered a whirl wind roll $12.50) and it was amazing!! It is 2pc prawn tempura, crab mix, spider tempura, cucumber, avo, scallop, tobiko, spicy mayo, sushi sauce and soy bean paper. The soy bean paper is yellow and super soft so it's SO much easier to bite into the roll than with the seaweed usually used. I'll attach a photo of it....wow....I was shocked by its size and then how awesome it was!!! My husband had the spicy chicken ramen noodle soup. Huge bowl of soup...great to have when you're not feeling good and want a pick me up!! I went back again and this time had the sashimi salmon and the Cowboy Roll. Yummmmmm it has a mixture of avo, shrimp and green onion with wasabi mayo on top of the Cali roll. Spectacular! This place is my new favorite!!!

A jewel of a place in Brookswood. Excellent sushi, friendly attentive staff, our favourite restaurant in Langley! Hirame is one of our top places to eat for sushi. We have tried sushi places all over Vancouver + Lower Mainland (and Victoria too - expensive + over-rated!) based on popularity, internet ratings, word of mouth etc on the hunt for the best and we keep circling back to Hirame in the "eco-village" of Brookswood in Langley (of all places!). It checks all the marks: fresh and delicious food made by authentic (not "faux") Japanese itamae (professional sushi chefs), expansive menu selection, reasonably priced, beautifully presented large portions, excellent service. Note: the regular rolls are one bite, the special rolls are big - I call them "2 bite" rolls! Perfect rice to filling ratio... not overly rice packed like some places. One of the tastiest selection of sushi we have ever tasted... by experienced traditional chefs seriously + diligently working their masterful art at the sushi bar. In fact this little restaurant has set the bar so high we are always comparing other places to Hirame and we are constantly setting ourselves up for disappointment (ex- "the tempura is greasy compared to Hirame, agedashi is soggy compared to Hirame, sushi portions are small compared to Hirame, chefs are young + untrained compared to Hirame, taste not as fresh as Hirame" etc). Its a gem of a place in Langley - give Hirame a try... it's worth it!

I can taste fish based broth and egg custard was very silky and smooth. Decent amount of ingredients sush as shrimp, slice of fish , bean and shimeji mushroom. I wish they served it slightly cooler than too hot. Ankimo - Great item. Monkfish liver was rich and paired with scallop and shrimp so well. Sauce was just ok. Grilled black cod was another great item. Crispy and juicy, just perfectly done. Blue fine tuna was covered by salty marinated sauce which was great when wrapped with seaweed. Cooked egg was just ok Tenpura - Seafood stuffed vegetable was my favorite. Others were also decent. Highlight and stand out item was 9 pieces of sushi. Honmaguro(bluefine tuna) was good. Shari(sushi rice) was nicely seasoned with vinegar, very mild and which I liked it. Tuna was delicious. Sea breem(MADAI) was another good piece. Delicious. Aburi Toro was nicely seared. We love Japanese cuisine so I decided to surprise the hubby with an omakase for his birthday in January. I love the chawanmushi loaded with goodies inside. The ankimo (monkfish liver) dish was so tasty with the scallop and prawn. Black cod was cooked to perfection! The nigiris are all so fresh. We quickly put ourselves on the waiting list for after September so we can come here again soon! There's a parking lot just next door. The place inside is small and intimate. Service is great!

The restaurant has a cozy, no-frills interior with dark wood tables and a casual, welcoming atmosphere. It's not a place that tries to be trendy or upscale--instead, it focuses on doing one thing exceptionally well, and that's serving perfectly executed katsu. The space can get busy, which is always a good sign, but the service remains efficient and friendly without feeling rushed. I started with the Assorted Katsu, which is easily the best choice if you want to experience the full range of what they offer. The plate was generously portioned, featuring pork, chicken, fish, and shrimp katsu alongside rice, shredded cabbage salad, pickles, and dipping sauces. The standout here is the texture--the panko coating is incredibly crisp, light, and airy without feeling greasy. Each type of katsu had its own distinct character: the pork was juicy and rich, the chicken tender and moist, the fish delicate and flaky, and the shrimp firm with a satisfying bite. The tonkatsu sauce added a sweet and savory depth, while the creamy dressing complemented both the meat and the cabbage perfectly. I also tried the Kimchi Cheese Katsu Nabe, which was a completely different but equally enjoyable experience. Served bubbling in a hot stone bowl, it combined crispy katsu with a tangy, slightly spicy kimchi broth and a generous layer of melted cheese. The contrast of flavors was excellent--the kimchi brought brightness and heat, while the cheese added richness and balance. As the katsu soaked in the broth, the outer layer softened slightly but still retained enough texture, while the inside remained juicy. It's definitely a heavier dish, but incredibly comforting and satisfying. One element that really stood out was the cabbage salad. Finely shredded and topped with a light creamy dressing, it provided a refreshing crunch that balanced out the richness of the fried dishes. It might seem simple, but it plays an essential role in keeping the meal from feeling overwhelming. Paired with the warm rice, pickles, and soup, everything comes together as a well-rounded set rather than just a plate of fried food. Overall, this place delivers exactly what you want from a katsu restaurant: consistently crispy cutlets, generous portions, and thoughtful balance in every meal. While the interior is simple and it can get busy, the food more than makes up for it. I would absolutely recommend trying the Assorted Katsu for variety and the Kimchi Cheese Katsu Nabe if you're in the mood for something rich and bold. It's a spot I'll definitely be returning to.

We've been talking about this place for months, and finally took the plunge. Pretty glad we did,…read morebut will have to learn more before our next visit. The space is understandably understated especially during the Christmas season. Totally ok with the lack of the holiday. We were sat quickly, water dropped right away. It's larger than we thought with two separate areas which would be great if you had a large party. Knowing little about the experience we ordered the mixed Katsu experience and the cheese Katsu, understanding as we always do that we will share the food. The cheese Katsu said right on the menu one order per table, which now makes sense. Eating four pieces of it is just simply too much cheese, so plan on one half per person, hence the one per table. The mixed Katsu had, prawn, fish, chicken and pork portions which were very tasty and a good quantity. Both came with accompanying salad and rice which rounded out the meal. The salad was excellent and the rice was well cooked. We will be back for sure, hopefully with more folks so we can experiment more.
