Best lunch ever! We stopped in for ramen and Wooow ! I am a picky person when it comes to Japanese food and this place was great. We found it originally because I had a hankering for japanese after being in Vegas for 4 days and being food gluttons on rich food. We were not disappointed and I have leftovers to have for lunch tomorrow. We ordered the Miso tempura ramen and it came with a full order of assorted tempura! Sushi seems to be the go-to meal for this week with the weather on the extreme! During our visit to Langley we decided to try out a new restaurant we haven't tried before amongst the many in city! We ordered the Ebi Pop Pop Roll & Sashimi Box. Both orders were fresh and quite a filler! The Ebi pop pop roll was a fun choice with the fried shrimp on top. Nice to try for the first time, but I'd probably go for a roll that is a little more different next time because the roll itself was your good ol' California roll which was quite similar to the roll that was in the Sashimi Box. I am always in search of delicious and fairly priced sushi, bonus if they have aburi / oshi sushi on the menu! I found Miraku through yelp as I was looking for sushi places in Langley and was eager to come here after seeing that they serve, you guessed it...oshi sushi! We came to dine in, it was not busy so we were sat right away. We ordered a salmon avocado roll, bonfire roll, salmon aburi and appetizer tempura. We were happy with the quality and presentation of the sushi. Everything tasted delicious and fish tasted fresh, portions were fair as well. I was pleasantly surprised at how affordable the oshi sushi was. Most places I have visited feature oshi sushi for about $13-$15, while Miraku has it for $10.95. This is probably the most affordable option for oshi sushi I have encountered so far, which I was very impressed by. Not only is it affordable, but it tastes very good too. The iconic slice of jalapeño that you always find on salmon oshi was of course present, but what made it great was how thinly sliced the pepper was. It wasn't overwhelming with spice, yet the jalapeño flavour was still very present. I also really enjoyed the bonfire roll because of the variety of textures; it was fresh and slightly creamy from the spicy tuna and had a nice little crunch from the sweet potato flakes. The restaurant seemed very clean, the tables did not have plexiglass barriers but were distanced. There were probably only 3 or 4 tables open for dine in, which makes sense because it's a fairly small restaurant. Servers were friendly, helpful and all wore masks. Service was also very quick. I do wish they had torched special rolls, since they already serve oshi sushi, might as well add more torched items to their menu! But just a suggestions! All in all a good experience and I will be returning to try the other rolls and most especially the other oshi sushi. read more

We were in the area and saw the high reviews so decided to stop by for dinner and was glad we did. That was the best tempura I've ever had, very light and perfectly cooked. Kids ordered teriyaki chicken and that was also delicious and I'm not even a fan of teriyaki. All the sushi tasted fresh and was well made. They had some type of clear noodles as part of the bento boxes that was interesting and delicious. Place is small and cozy and service is fast. If we return to the area we will come back! read more

First time here and the food is delightful! Just had the lunch special Deluxe and could not finish it all... Quality seafood (sockeye salmon, not that mushy farmed stuff) and generally all fresh and tasty. Family business with friendly and prompt service. My husband and I ate lunch here because of the stellar Yelp reviews, but I'm sorry to say we were disappointed. The yam roll was SUPERB and everything came out very, very fresh -- you could tell every single item was made to order. But everything else we ordered was mediocre at best and very bland, so the "eh" food far outweighed the one good roll (aka yam roll) in our order. We won't be going back. read more

I can't imagine a world without Japanese food, seriously, I can't! One day, my husband brought home some take-out from some Japanese place in Langley,. No name, just a place across the street from Steve Nash... I told him "This is really good, where was this place again?" Anyhow, a week or two passed... Then again, my Japanese craving led us to the restaurant where the take-out originated from... MIRAKU! First off, based on it's location and not so visible sign, I would have never came to this place. Of course, since my Matthew had already tried it, he knew it right away. Again, based on location, I had already preconceived notions on how it was going to look on the inside. But to my pleasant surprise and amazement, this place was gorgeous inside. You would have never believed it looked like that from the outside. It's also much larger inside then I had assumed. Shame on me for making assumptions. The decor and layout was perfect down to the view of the sushi bar. The lighting was just as it should be for a Japanese restaurant and the cleanliness of Miraku was great too (what with me being a germ-a-phoebe) The service was excellent! Absolutely excellent! Melissa, our server, greeted us immediately with a smile and menus. I thought it was very thoughtful for her to give my 4-year old his own Transformers place mat, which by the way is his favorite! And even a workbook and crayons. I love it when restaurants do that! The great thing about Melissa is she didn't hover, she gave us ample amount of time to look over the menu before she took our order. The food came out in the perfect amount of time. Although I was super hungry on this particular day, I didn't mind the wait. I always figure, if you wait a little extra, the food is more fresh! Chef Paul prepared us some amazing dishes. The quality and attention to detail was definitely delivered in our order. The taste and presentation was far beyond what I would have imagined it would be, so we were more than happy and willing finish all of our food! The price was reasonable and expected for the quality of food and service we received, so we were not at all surprised by the bill. After the meal, we chatted with Paul and Melissa for a few minutes about their business and it was very nice talking to them. They were very personable and welcoming. We will most definitely be back here soon and just a warning for any other restaurants in the area, you've got some pretty tough competition here.... In my opinion... I really wanted to love you but it was just OK. Im rarely in the Langley area, had to do some business here so I though why not try some of the foodie yelpers recommendations in the area. At firsts seems like our options were a bit limited. I've been craving sushi lately so I typed in "sushi" nearby... And Miraku came up. And yes I drove around in circles trying to find it, its tucked away in a little strip mall. I almost gave up but there is was, and it had just opened for lunch. Cute place, very modern Japanese restaurant. I was greeted by a young man who also was my server, I sat down and was given a menu. For lunch I tend to grab combos or specials. I ordered the lunch special combo C. Which included chicken teriyaki, several tempura, deep fried gyoza, dynamite roll and a miso soup. I know this is not "sushi" but it was a really good price at $9.95. The restaurant was empty, and my food still took about 20 minutes felt longer because I was the only one there. When I finally got my food it came in your typical bento box. Everything was hot. Dynamite roll was my favorite, the teriyaki was meh it had no flavor just chicken, bean sprouts, one piece of carrot and 2 piece of broccoli. The teriyaki sauce was so light all I could taste was bean sprouts. The tempura was also good but they only gave me about two tablespoon of sauce ): I guess you get what you pay for. Ok maybe I would have given Miraku 3.5 stars not 3 if I had the option. Over all it was ok, I think I might have to come back for dinner and have "real sushi." This place is so boss. Although I did leave feeling 6.734lbs heavier because of all the deep fry, it was hands down the best Americanized sushi roll I've had to date. 'Crazy Chicken Roll'. Had some sweet chili sauce over it along with some other mystery sauces. Also had some jalapeños in it or something. I love spicy, so this was right up my alley. I even loved how they cut each piece/roll in half which made it so much easier to eat. They also have a complimentary deep fried banana covered in pancake syrup and topped with a strawberry. Their higher yelp rating that inspired me to come here is quite puzzling. Almost all aspects of the food quality was closer to 1 star. The prices are lower and more reasonable here but you seem to get what you pay for in terms of lower prices = lower quality. The 3 star service was their best attribute. The gyoza tasted straight out of a Pre-made frozen processed food package and not cooked well either, being really dried out. House salad was a good concept but the lettuce was wilted and not fresh. Gomae was decent tasting but drowning in the dressing. Did not trust ordering raw fish here. Had Inari nigiri but the tofu skin was speckled black either from being cooked incorrectly or some other reason I probably do not want to know why. That was visually disgusting. There was an option to get a real crab California roll with an upcharge, but it was the type of roll with lots of mayonnaise and not apparently king crab either which I can understand in the shortage these days. That roll was edible but very underwhelming. The cucumber and avocado portion was too little in the roll. Can't remeber that it had any tobiko. Chicken breast teriyaki was not an available option besides the cheaper to make dark thigh meat option. The rest of the meal were all items we would like to forget eating. It all tasted like lower quality preprocessed food and seemed to have massive quantities of sodium or msg. Didn't sleep so well the night after that meal, and even drinking several glasses of water didn't help. Tea seemed more like a non distinct oolong black tea than a typical tasty rejuvenating Japanese green, barley, or rice tea I would expect in a place like this. They didn't ever refill it either, nor the water, which was a big miss considering the venue is very small. They also forgot to serve an item we discussed twice during ordering, but in the end I was glad to not have to eat or pay for it. The crooked wall socket in the wall I noticed after seating was likely an early foreshadowing warning sign of their lack of attentiveness to quality that I missed acting on to leave before ordering. If this is a higher rated neighborhood Japanese restaurant in the greater Vancouver area, it's not looking good for the future dining at regular day to day Japanese restaurants in the area. I'm almost scared to go to any others in this specific area if the bar is this low. read more

Since we moved in the area we've been really skeptical of new sushi joints. This place had a lot of good reviews so we decided to try it. We ordered the bonfire roll, tako yaki, appetizer sashimi, chicken teriyaki roll and the chicken katsu. The bonfire roll was okay. Nothing stood out to me though. I loved the tako yaki. It was the perfect ratio of batter:seafood. The chicken teriyaki roll was more for my boyfriend, as he's less adventurous. He liked it, but i honestly don't think anyone can mess that roll up. We both liked the chicken katsu. The appetizer sashimi tasted really fresh, but it was almost ice cold in the center. I might be back to try more, but so far we weren't really impressed. read more

I don't know what is up with Canada and their food, but seems like everywhere I go the food tastes horrible. I was craving sushi and I found this place with four stars and the most review. This place is disgusting. Not fresh at all, I became very bloated from eating here. The crunch roll was soggy and did not taste good and who puts strawberries in sushi?! Gross! Well I mean if you do, at least make it so that it compliments the dish such as mango with salmon. The tempura udon tasted worse than instant noodles and had shredded carrots in the broth, not good at all. Tastes like watered down soggy frozen noodle soup. Also, this place is definitely Korean owned. Therefore, I expect better rolls from them. I would give 1 star, but I feel bad because they were kind of nice and it was kind of clean... read more

This place is excellent every time! We love their various sushi rolls. The ingredients are fresh and well prepared, and the flavor combinations are so good. First time here after reading reviews off yelp. I like that they provide free appetizer (yam fries drizzled with house sauce). We ordered prawn tempura (prolly the only sushi place I've been that has 8 prawn tempura in an order - I love it), avocado roll (big portion of avocado), tuna and salmon oshi (taste bland but that's what soy sauce and wasabi is for). Wonderful sushi place. Service was fast and friendly; the place clean and had a nice casual feel. Tried our usual standbys from other places, ebi sunomono and miso soup where very good. Seared tuna nigiri very tasty, kind of Smokey, will have to try the seared salmon next time. Miraku roll was good. Excellent assorted tempura. Portions very good size. The service is very friendly and very clean inside. Our favourites are the seared tuna belly (Toro) and Spicy Tuna Rolls. The food is consistently good. The avocado rolls are always fresh (they aren't browning and nearly spoiled like in some sushi restaurants) and the portion sizes are standard (although the kappa rolls are smaller than in several other restaurants). The restaurant underwent management changes as of late last year/early this year, coinciding (coincidentally?) around the time they were inspected by fraser health. I have been a happy client here for a long, long time, and while I have tried others since first going to Miraku, I have never found any sushi as good as theirs. They even have Coca Cola in bottles. Everyone I take there also raves about the food, and the only problem I have is trying to decide what to eat... Try the Dragon Roll! read more

ASIANS BEWARE: YOU ARE NOT WELCOME AT THIS RESTAURANT. This was our second time here. We were greeted by a gruff "sit here", as the waitress rudely pointed here finger at one of the tables. As we sat down, several other (white) people were also seated. As we sat there for a few minutes reading our menus, we saw that we hadn't gotten tea yet, so we nicely asked for some while ordering our food. After several minutes, we noticed all of the other tables getting their drinks/tea, but our table was still ignored. We were right in between these tables, and we arrived earlier. When ordering, other tables were greeted with a "what can I get you". We were greeted with a rude "YES?!?" For every single food order, for every service, we were ignored and had to go "get it ourselves". We even only had 2 pairs of chopsticks, with 3 people. I will concede that the food is not bad, especially the tempura. The short-haired waitress is also quite nice, it is the long-haired one that is racist, rude (to asians only) and generally not willing to serve the Asian community (even though ironically it is an ASIAN RESTAURANT). I do not expect special treatment. I do, however, expect to be treated equally and with respect, without regard to my race, my gender, or any other physical trait. This is atrocious. This one waiter ruined what was otherwise a good experience and a good restaurant. I would suggest the manager look into this. Racism is not ok. Discrimination is not ok. I've eaten a lot of sushi restaurants and since I just moved back to Langley I did a review for the top sushi restaurants in the area and was impressed with all the high ratings so I thought I would try it out. I ordered $100 worth of food for takeout and ordered most of the ordinary stuff and here is my review. Prawn tempura was overcooked. Sushi 6/10. Toro couldn't tell it was Toro tasted just like regular tuna. Wild salmon sushi not impressed. I've definitely had better at most places I've eaten at. Now, I am a sushi snob. I expect Toro to melt in my mouth. I expect my prawn tempura to be golden yellow batter and flaky on the outside and juicy on the inside. I expect my salmon to taste like it should since we are in BC and that means delectable. So, I was not impressed, to be quite honest. I won't return. I will pay anything to have the best sushi and this is not the best sushi place, So not sure who is giving the restaurant all these very high reviews. read more

Stopped in here Sat night for some take home. We used to frequent this restaurant a lot in the past but haven't been in a few years. Food was amazing and the portions were large. This sushi restaurant is truly delicious. They have a wonderful spicy tuna sashimi and they serve one roll called the "energy roll" that is absolutely to DIE for. Though i have had issues ordering over the phone. I asked for a spicy chirashi don, and the lady told me they don't serve it. I had seen it on their menu 2 days earlier. I also had a hard time ordering the tuna wrap, which is a special dish they serve that i personally really enjoy, and she also couldn't find it on the menu and insisted it did not exist. She found it a few minutes later and apologized. I went there a few days later and clearly saw the chirashi and tuna wrap on their special menu where i insisted it was. The sushi here is quite fresh and well prepared, and always well presented. Definitely a great place to try, it used to be a favourite of mine. I do suggest you try the spicy tuna sashimi and the energy roll. And save room for the complimentary deep-fried bananas at the end of your meal! read more
