Special rolls are amazing. If you like spicy, volcano roll or red dragon roll are great choices. Price is too high, not gonna go often.

Well... it's alright. The main thing I would say about this place is that it's over priced for what it is. The food is nothing amazing and seemed mediocre to me. The rolls didn't seemed like they were rolled properly as they would fall apart when picked up. (Picture of one of the rolls we ordered below). I also see other reviewers commenting about this as well. The only thing that makes this place great is the service. The lady that served as was super friendly and attentive, she was great.

We were staying in North Vancouver last weekend and were craving some sushi for a snack on Sunday afternoon. We fired up Yelp and found this place with a good rating that was close by. Located in a small mall of sorts, we had a delicious meal of three different rolls and a miso soup each. Fresh, tasty, inexpensive and quick. Great little spot!

Much MUCH better service than Lynn Valley Sushi around the corner, and our food was really quite good. I had miso soup, Las Vegas rolls, and teriyaki beef. Was all really good. My rolls were perfect. My partner had a BC combo and he really enjoyed his as well. Again, our service was very good, our tea and waters were kept topped up and we didn't have to hunt down a server to pay our bill. We'll be back.

Located in an unassuming location inside a mall and serving up some of the best sushi I've ever had. The staff was warm and welcoming.

Okeya Kyujiro is a Michelin one-star theatrical omakase restaurant, and when they say theatrical, they mean it! From the moment you're welcomed by smiling ushers in kimono to the closing tea ceremony, every movement feels intentional, precise, and elevated. The ambiance is serene and anticipatory. At the start, guests sit in silence as a black screen conceals the chefs. You see their shadows moving behind it. A bell rings, the screen lifts, and the performance begins. Dinner is a 25+ course experience priced at $325 per person. It's undeniably a splurge, but for a milestone celebration, it feels justified. The menu is seafood-forward, with many ingredients flown in from Japan. Each ingredient is presented before preparation, then carefully assembled and served directly from chef to guest. Courses arrive one by one, never rushed. The service team moves seamlessly in the background, refilling water and attending to drinks (available as an add-on) without disrupting the flow. The finale is a matcha ceremony, whisked in front of you with the same quiet precision that defines the evening. When the final sip is taken, the bell chimes once more, the chefs and staff bow, and the screens close. It was a beautifully choreographed dining experience, perfect for marking a special moment, and one I'd gladly return to for the next celebration.

This is a more theatrical style so expect louder music and a more theatrical experience (eg one of the servers played the flute for the guests celebrating birthdays). I prefer a more intimidate and interactive style of omakase where you can talk with the chefs. This lunch also felt a little fast in terms of progression of the meal. Some of the dishes were very tasty while others didn't wow us. With drinks, we were quite full despite some reviews saying portion is on the smaller size. Our total was around $500 with drinks for 2 people. A really good experience for omakase, especially if you are looking for a unique experience though not my favourite one I've tried.

It was so light and crispy and the chicken was tender and juicy. Saku's katsu was so good that when I think about the katsus I've had is the past at other places I realize now they were just decent katsu. Other highlights here are their house made sesame dressing - so good. They sliced the cabbage salad so thin that in combination with the sesame dressing it was a great combo. I usually don't like that much raw cabbage but I ate every bit of it. The ambience is airy and cool. The staff were really great and asked us about any allergies. Still comes with a little side of pickles, and unlimited rice, cabbage, and miso soup. No katsu sauce. The katsu was fried to perfection. Juicy, tender, cant complain. But since they serve it in a broth, it does get soggy really quick. Still good, but after a few minutes its just soggy. The broth is nice with rice; comforting kind of meal. The unlimited rice/soup/cabbage is just icing on the cake. My dining partner had the Kake udon (pretty good, noodles good texture and slightly smaller strands than most places) and Menchi Cheese side - basically a pork meatball with cheese and deep fried katsu-style, served with katsu sauce. This was excellent. My original review still stands. Excellent katsu, plus they have the consistency and reliability. $28-30/meal and its plenty of food for 1, especially with unlimited cabbage/rice/soup. Restaurant is nice and comfortable, good spacing and not cramped. Easy recommend. 5/5.

Since I…read morestopped competitive skating senior year of high school, I'm not in North Van very often anymore. Last weekend, I happened to be in the area with my parents, so we went here for lunch. I was overjoyed that the friendly service and high quality food was as good as I remembered from years ago. Adding to the joyful mood were all the festive touches. The restaurant was decked out with a Christmas tree, garlands, etc., and the staff -- including those I spotted through the kitchen window -- were wearing cute, Christmas-y headbands. Being here just felt really familiar and cozy. Momiji has some great, affordable combos and standalone dishes. There's also plenty of nice things to splurge on. I was in the latter mood, so ordered a piece each of the uni and tobiko izura (fish roe and quail's egg) nigiri, as well as a spider roll (soft shell crab tempura with crab meat, avocado, and cucumber). The uni was really plump; the creaminess and brininess mixed with the rice and nori made for the perfect bite. I enjoyed the tobiko izura too, even though it was a lot messier to eat. That piece was topped with so much tobiko! The egg yolk added richness, making the nigiri even more palatable. From a presentation standpoint, this one is absolutely stunning. Spider rolls have been hit and miss for me, but Momiji's is always a hit. The tempura is so light and crispy, and the pieces aren't tiny either! They do a good job balancing the ratios of the other fillings too. And the teriyaki sauce brushed on top is just the right amount -- not so thick that it overwhelms your palate, nor too faint that you wonder what the point of that component is. The sweet, umami-forward notes of the teriyaki elevate every other ingredient in this roll. Perfection! Note to self: I'll be back, and soon. Thank you Momiji!
