Went here with my friends a few days ago, honestly I don't like sushi that much but these were good Made me fell in luv with California rolls, we also got l tempura but unfortunately it was really oily-like a lot, so after a few bites i didn't want to eat them no more. For our first visit to Shinobi, my husband and I ordered their chicken teriyaki and spicy roll sushi combo with tuna, salmon and scallops. Everything was tasty, delicious, satisfying and well done. The food took a long time to arrive and the server did not apologize for the delay. The server was not friendly or professional. I'm a senior citizen and I was waiting to pick up my food at the pickup counter. I waited about 15 minutes. The server totally ignored me. I was appalled to see the server, an angry older woman named Jennifer, push my phone off the counter with a food tray and tell me not to put my phone on the counter afterwards. She had about 6 feet of counter space upon which she could have put the food tray, instead of pushing his phone. I had to grab it quickly before it fell on the floor. Then I was further shocked and dismayed when Jennifer pushed a food tray into my elbow and order me to take my elbow off the counter. This was totally uncalled for. There can be no justification for her actions. Her hostile and aggressive behavior was shameful and disgraceful and I definitely won't be going back to that restaurant ever again! read more

One of my favourite sushi spots in Maple Ridge! Delicious food with tons of options and a lot of unique rolls to try. A bit pricier than some others, but worth it for the fresh ingredients and great taste. Recommend eating in for the best experience, but take out is good too. Owned by a Korean family, very nice people. We ordered sashimi deluxe, sushi combo, house salad, chicken teriyaki and assorted tempura. It was all excellent. The fish was fresh and I didn't find the teriyaki too sweet or salty. My brother lives in the area and this is his go-to place for sushi. I approve! read more

Let me start with the good. The sashimi was exceptional! The size was better than average and it was absolutely delicious and fresh. The Shinobi maki roll was also really good and refreshing. The pink lady roll was a big let down. The asparagus was overpowering and it came drenched in a thick creamy mayo sauce that wasn't mentioned on the menu. We ate everything else at the table, but when the waitress came back I told her I couldn't have mayo and I wasn't aware it came on that roll. She was a little rude and argued with me that all the special rolls have sauce on them (well the other one I ordered didn't....) eventually she took the roll back. The food is worth coming back for, but the experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I also found it weird that half the dishes didn't come with wasabi and ginger. read more

Shinobi is quite a surprise! A decent sushi restaurant in Maple Ridge? As soon as you enter the restaurant, you are greeted with a nice welcome, "irasshaimase" from all the staff. It has a nice ambiance with some traditional Japanese decorations. They serve up some good lunch combo plates. It's very well presented and perfected proportioned. The nigiri sushi and sashimi are very fresh. They have some creative sushi rolls including the Maple Ridge roll made with prawn tempura, cream chesse, avacodo, cucumber and topped with crab meat and tobiko. Service is usually very friendly, they always say thank you as you leave. Pick up orders get 10% off if you order over $20 except special and combo menus. read more

This place was great. Service was fast and delivery even with a packed house was quick. The Veggie spring rolls and Veggie sunomono were Delish. The veg combo plate was a great variety of avacado, cucumber and a fancier roll with lettus, avacado, pickled asparagus and a white root veg. My only complaint is the veg teriyaki, was tofu on bamboo shoots with one peice of Broccolli and one carrot. And I the rest room area what every they cleaned the floors with left an extremely slippery film and even kn sneakers I had to focus on not falling down. But the menu had a large amount of options, lots of family style boat options, the place was clean and prices great. We would return. read more

The Food tasted good. I would have eaten my food if the service hadn't left such a foul taste in my mouth. I wouldn't go there unless you have on your Sunday best. I however was working with special needs kids at a paint workshop today, needless to say I was in my dispensable duds (aside from my footwear lol).... The other customers were welcome in more than the lobby. I was not, welcomed to the chairs by the front door, and after ordering my food to go. I will never understand why this is the most popular sushi restaurant in town. Truly overrated. Not that its bad, the food is good, it's the overall value of the place thats lacking. If I'm going to stand and wait for 15-20 to be seated and wait even more to be served, it better be the best sushi I've ever had, and I've eaten Sushi all over Metro Vancouver and freaken Japan. The service is always slow, which should not happen when you have 3-4 servers at your disposal, hell I've been to places that had half as many servers, just as busy and did a better job. The food is good, servers are friendly, but for the price, portion size and overall experience...just not worth it. Even with the 2 hour wait and the curt "goodbye" as we left we held out hope for a delicious expierence...umm...$51 dollars and 0 tip later (take out NO TIP) we were less than overwhelmed by the portions, confused by the flavours and lack of. Wow 4 1/2 stars. I honestly don't know what to think. I was struggling whether to give them 2 or 3 stars before I saw they had 4 1/2. I came once before because of their rating. And had a tuna gomae salad. It was pretty good and I wouldn't quarrel with their rating over it. So I came back for lunch and had the chicken teriyaki box. This included a "daily special." The special was two tiny spring rolls. They were tough, almost inedible. The chicken teriyaki was a small cutlet of chicken cut into strips and it was equally tough. Looking for something good to say, the sauce on it was pretty tasty. Finally, the appetizer tempura was above average mostly because the shrimp tempura, 2 pieces, were excellent. So I'm giving them 3 stars although I think the lunch was definitely 2 or below. But in deference to all the people who seem to love it maybe they just had a bad lunchtime. Not sure I'd go back, I think I'll try something else when I'm in the area. read more

Fantastic, fresh and easily the best sushi in town! Highly recommend the Maple Ridge roll and the spicy tuna roll. The service is friendly but the place is usually so busy and noisy we often opt for take out (with the 10% discount!). I've eaten in before, but this place tends to be our 'go to' when we're wanting something quick and fresh to bring home for a quiet Friday night dinner. Definitely a favorite! read more

After seeing all the good reviews on yelp, we decided to come here to try. I was disappointed. It is definitely not a four star sushi place that I would compare to other places. The special rolls that we ordered did not taste that great. The tempura batter had a certain taste that I did not like and the flavours were conflicting and I love sushi. I enjoy eating special rolls and it was very sad to not be satisfied with what I got. Even the garlic scallops were not what I expected them to be. My auntie lives in Maple Ridge and she loveeeeees this place. Their interior is well-decorated. The service was good. The sushi!!! I can`t emphasize how much I love them. Always fresh and the service is always friendly. Reasonably priced unlike some other sushi places in maple ridge where you're charged more for mediocre sushi. The Shinobi special roll is my fave...it's a delicious roll wrapped in cucumber instead of rice to give us low/no carb hunters more options. Highly recommend this place! read more
