If we could give negative stars I most definitely would. Have been going here for last 8 years twice a week and very highly disappointed. Came in with 2 foodie reviewers from Las Vegas and we didn't even get to eat half the food because the taste was off but worst part was the presentation!! I looked around and noticed David the head sushi chef and face of the restaurant is gone. My favourite servers she's gone and MJ is my husbands fave and well he got let go as well. I've had a talk with few others at my business and next door and they mentioned that new owner and his mother bought the restaurant quick and cheap. New rude mid 20's young owner & his mother running this establishment as of July 1. Old owner sold due to health we were told from him in June. Sushi Chef/Mgr Dave & original workers ( EVEN funny MJ) are gone. Portions reduced, prices significantly increased and the attitude of the owners is unacceptable. Don't waste your time. Not the same as it was for the last 8 years I've been here. Very sad that some new young know it all, old took over, is rude to staff and customers that the staff have to quit! Just cause you have all the money in the world, if your attitude and personality doesn't blend or there's no sincerity and gratefulness for your customers then it won't work. I've always loved coming to Aburiya. The service is outstanding and the quality of the food is top notch not just for Maple Ridge but the Lower Mainland as well. Not sure if it's because we order the more expensive items but we often get complementary items that I've never even had before. A hallowed out orange with large spicy tuna chunks? Love. Specially rolls were delicious; especially the Hawaiian roll. Beef teriyaki came with black rice which was a nice surprise. The food was fresh and service was fast. Parking in the back was hard to get to and not easily assessable from the main road. read more

Shame. Used to be the "high end" sushi restaurant of Maple ridge. Known for their aburiya sushi and oshi sushi, things you don't find in typical sushi places. This last time we went at 4 pm. Sushi rice was a bit hard to chew. Sushi size isn't impressive. Typical size, but since in general he price is higher, it makes these sushi have less value for the money. Ordered their Cali and dynamite combo. Nothing special. Their aburiya salmon was okay. Good umami flavour. Slight light smokey taste. Very slight. Salmon nigiri super overpriced. Their chopped scallop roll should cause them great shame. Barely any filling. One of my pieces was concave in the filling part. Overall, everyone should just go to Fat Tuna so they can have enough customers to churn out fresh fish everyday instead of buying fresh fish and then freezing it because the customer number isn't there. It's the problem with maple ridge sushi. Too many out there, splits all the customers, and every restaurant ends up having to freeze their salmon. Am I harsh? No. I regard sushi California as being the best for that reason. Salmon always fresh because of insane demand, they churn out fresh fish daily. Anyway, mediocre sushi at a premium price. You're basically paying for the choice of being able to order aburiya or oshi sushi. read more

Well I'm definitely impressed that Haney has a joint like this. I needed to kill some time and found this place and it certainly was a pleaser. The menu is quite good and has reasonable prices. I only tried two items though Salmon Aburi Sushi : $9.95 and really good. Good BBQ tasting sear to it and tasty sauce. Would be nice if there was a hint of spice to it, perhaps a jalepeno on top or similar. Steak Tataki : $10.95 and also pretty good. The sauce they serve it in really makes the dish and you will be tempted to drink the remainder out of your plate. It's Stevie's with pea shoots and bell peppers and lots of onions too. I wish this place was closer to my home because sadly I find myself in Haney or Maple Ridge in general only once every couple years. I would like to try other menu items for sure. Enjoyed a dinner for two here this week. The atmosphere was really nice, clean and comfortable. The gyoza was crispy but light, and it was the best I've had at any sushi restaurant (highly recommend). Service was quick to bring food once it was ordered, but a bit slow to our take order and they didn't top up our tea. The edamame was decent, a bit tough. Mango + spicy tuna roll was really fresh and tasty, and the prices were reasonable. read more

As usual on Fridays, my husband and I just want to stay in and relax. We grabbed our flyers and decided on sushi. We wanted to try the new one down the road and noticed they delivered, but when I called they said they no longer deliver, my husband picked it up. Luckily, it is really close. My hubby wanted the Tuna Donburi, Beef Udon and I went with the Deep Fried Roll Combo. The menu is quite extensive. It has many specialty rolls and fusion items. Soups, salads, starters, sashimi, as well as seared sashimi. My Deep Fried combo consisted of the spicy magic roll, crazyboy roll and playboy roll which are all specialty rolls and ordering it in a combo saves about $1. There are enough items on this menu to please the raw fish eaters in the family as well as the tempura and teriyaki eating members of the family, so I will be ordering this for my daughter's 24th bday dinner in a few weeks. read more

We have been going to this place for years and it appears the menus have a huge price increase . The question is why? . The service hasn't got better and the ingredients seem to have far less fish . We have noticed over the last 18 years in maple ridge sushi restaurants will have a good business and then they get greedy and price themselves out which spells the beginning of the end . Thought it'd be good, but it wasn't worth it. Normal rolls we're fine, the yaki udon we got had a strange after taste. But the worst part was getting the salmon yaki wrap. It was half cooked/half raw, with a strange texture. Made me wanna yak. Some people might like it, but personally I'd prefer either completely cooked fish or raw. Not in-between with half cooked juices coming out of it. Staff was nice though, and the playlist they had was bumping. read more

Was visiting B.C. For ten days ate here 4 times and I don't even like seafood!! The steak and beef teriyaki was the best I've ever had. The curry ton Katsu was the perfect blend flavor with a bit of spice(have to ask for curry sauce not on the menu) Beef Yaki soba I ordered was also amazing and lastly I ordered beef tataki roll minus the crab meat it was excellent. Everyone working there was super friendly and helpful with any questions I had on the menu. Abruriya Sushi is a great place to dine whether you enjoy sushi and seafood or not next time I'm in B.C. I really love the sushi here. The presentation is beautiful. The decor is modern and cozy. The sashimi is really good and fresh. Everything taste flavorful and the price is reasonable. You don't have to go to Vancouver for sushi apparently the love is here and I was recommended from another chef, thanks! read more

First time going to this restaurant, called them up for a take out order, the woman was very pleasant on the phone and order was exactly on time. Inside was very clean and open and was greeted right away by the staff in the kitchen before walking to the front counter. The sushi was amazing, after I got home I found out that they also gave me a sample of a new roll they are testing out, the cowboy roll which was also amazing. Nice to find this little gem in maple ridge. Even just a simple California roll tasted very fresh. Will happily be returning to them. read more

Great Japanese food. The Lion Ling roll is very original. This place is not crowded as others around and price-wise is reasonable.

This was my go to place for sushi, unfortunately with Covid they have decided to jack the prices so high it is just not worth it. A meal that cost me under $45 a month ago now cost me $60 and that is with the 10% off pick up. I was looking elsewhere anyways as it seems they food quality has been on a steady decline for about a year now. One item jumped by over $6. Not cool especially when you pick it up. read more

I visit Aburiya very frequently, and have yet to be disappointed. Despite Miku being my favourite for aburi sushi, it's nice to have a restaurant closer to home where I can still get fresh, delicious aburi sushi. Aburiya particularly shines in it's salmon aburi oshi and it's nigiri sushi, as the fish used is generously portioned, flavourful, very fresh, and of seemingly excellent quality. Service is consistently pleasant and friendly, if sometimes a little slow, and the restaurant is clean and modern. Prices are very reasonable. read more

This is a fantastic restaurant. We came for lunch and had a lunch combo - California roll, 4 Pc tempura, half yaki soba and crab salad for $13.95. It was more than enough for my preschooler and I and we even took some home. The tempura was nice and crispy and the roll was big. Awesome service and she was so great with my kid. I just recently moved to Maple Ridge from the city. Sushi is one of my favourite meals...I was fully prepared to drive into the city to get my sushi fix but decided to try a local place instead. I am SO glad that I did because I found this gem! Aburiya Sushi is now my favourite sushi place, far above any place in the city. Best Sushi I have ever had. They took our reservation for a group of 12 and the service, sushi, and atmosphere were amazing! The pricing is very reasonable too. My only regret is that I live in the states and will not be able to come back anytime soon. I highly recommend it. read more
