Me and my friends were looking for a sushi dinner spot after our afternoon hike in the hills. And we found this place on Yelp (my usual app) and called if they were opened for dine in. Surprisingly, they were open! Me and my friends were so happy, so we told them a party of 4 people were coming and they were ready for us! We came around June, during the pandemic, and we were still in the "safety" mode of wearing mask, and cleaning ourselves with alcohol wipes. I loved how the restaurant purposely set up for pick up for food and on top of that, inside they were ready to take only a couple tables of people for dine-in. I love the atmosphere of the venue, and their placement of the tables to keep a safety distance. This was the first time back to eating sushi from a couple months of staying at home, and surprisingly, a sushi joint out here in Maple Ridge satisfied our cravings! The special rolls were so delicious, and competitively priced as well! I ordered 3 special rolls myself, and my friend ordered a don, and something else. It has been a while, but I remembered their rolls were perfectly rolled, and topped off with such amazing ingredients. More like, I was surprised a place like in Maple Ridge had such an iconic spot!! If I am caught out here again with my friends or something, I will be dropping by again for some sushi~!! :)

What a hidden sushi gem in Maple Ridge!! Very fresh ingredients and felt very safe dining here during covid. The quality was comparable to some of the downtown sushi restaurants that I've gotten a chance to try.

I've tried most of the menu everything I've had is delicious! The service is fast and the staff are friendly even when doing takeout. And the decor is nice and modern

After reading the glowing reviews here and on Facebook my husband and I tried Kisoji this evening so I could give it another chance and honestly, it gets an overwhelming "Meh." from us. The service was good, the waiter was polite. The prices are pretty much average. The food was average at best, with the exception of the beef yakisoba which was probably the best yakisoba either of us have ever had. But overall, the food wasn't completely terrible, but it also wasn't good. We tried the Negihama roll because it sounded delicious but it was definitely not to our liking, it was incredibly fishy. I compared the flavour to that of tinned kippers, not even wasabi could tame the fishy flavour. We couldn't finish it, well, we didn't want to. The atmosphere also didn't work for us, it has a very Vancouver hipster feel; very industrial and modern, very, very open seating and as suburbanite parents in our mid/late 30's just out for a date night, it just wasn't our scene. We try to keep our money in Pitt Meadows as it's where we are raising our family, but we just didn't enjoy the experience and will not be going back.

Kisoji is Pitt Meadows newest sushi place. With four other sushi places in the area it is certainly the nicest. The interior is one of the best I've seen of any Japanese restaurant. The service from the hostess was excellent. The sushi is inexpensive but the quality is moderate. I can't complain as the food is tasty, but the over use of imitation crab and filler is disappointing. It is typical of the sushi in the area but I was hoping for more. This place has potential. Just would like to see more custom rolls with fresher ingredients. I'm sure I'll eat here plenty of times when I'm looking for a quick meal. It's a tough place to rate. Somewhere between a 3 and 4 star place. Check it out if you are in the area. It's worth a try.

Details: My GF and I greatly enjoyed a HH and early dinner at the bar on a weeknight in early October 2026. How lucky for us to find ourselves in the care of Calvin, a deeply-knowledgeable and thoroughly professional oyster geek. On Calvin's advice, we slurped up about 1-1/2 dozen raw oysters. We especially loved the brininess of the BC pa'aje and WA totten virginica bivalves; the slightly sweeter SunSeekers were good too. Every oyster was clean and delicious! The accompanying beverages (dry vodka martini and aperol) were lovely. Our follow-on main-course dishes were just okay. GF liked the poutine with shredded Atlantic lobster (when she could find any!), but declared the dish to be mostly gloggy french fries. My dungeness crab cakes were dull. For best results: stick to the raw oysters!

This spot does traditional and classic seafood items so well- lobster poutine, are you kidding me?! How do I inject the lobster gravy from this dish into my veins? My boyfriend and I got a couple dozen raw oysters from the available options and narrowed down our favorites- the Fanny Bay and Kumamoto are fantastic! I got the uni sashimi and umami bomb, and those were to die for. The lobster poutine stole the show for my boyfriend and me, the serving size was generous and very filling. We got so much quality seafood for less than $100 CAD- this would easily go for so much more in the Bay Area.

Our AirBnB hosts listed it as the only 5-star restaurant in town so we made a last minute reservation, which they graciously accommodated. What a great choice! First impressions don't convey 5-star, but once we settled in, the cozy and casual ambience was perfect. They have an extensive cocktail and wine list and we dove into the cocktail section. Really smart and interesting selection - would've loved to try more than two. We had a featured appetizer - an heirloom tomato salad with goats cheese and gazpacho dressing. Fresh, well presented and delicious. We also ordered the bread with lemon butter and olive oil. The multigrain bread was fantastic! For mains, I had the kobe beef and my partner had the meatballs with a side of roasted carrots. The beef melted in my mouth and the chimichurri sauce was possibly the best I've had. The meatballs and carrots had a decidedly north african flavour profile and were beautiful and balanced. Their menu is fantastic - if we lived nearby we would return to try almost everything. So glad we didn't stay to eat dinner in way-too-touristy Whistler or we would've missed out on this gem.

And while there are no shortage of seafood restaurants serving fresh crab on the Steveston waterfront, we wanted to give The Crab King a fair shake. I'm so glad that we did! My wife ordered a King Crab for herself which, after tearing it literally limb-from-limb, eventually declared it to be tied for her favorite boiled crab dish anywhere! High praise coming from such a consummate crustacean connoisseur! For myself and our son, an order of fish and chips, and the grilled chicken sandwich rounded out our order, both of which were crispy, tasty and delicious. Regarding the fish and chips, they appeared to be tempura-battered, and I'm still not 100% sure what type of fish it was. It may have been cod, but it seemed more like catfish, but either way, it was tender, juicy, flaky and delicious. No complaints here! More than anything, though, the employees here went out of their way to make our experience enjoyable. Our toddler son, who is normally extremely well-behaved in restaurants, was having a bit of a fuss here and there. Without prompting, the servers brought us a little radio to play music for him, as well as a couple of toys to play with, one of them being a wind-up truck that they gave to him to take home! He loved it there, and still plays with it at home! They even played peek-a-boo with him from behind the counter, soliciting laughs and giggles, for the better part of 15 minutes! That sort of customer service is nearly impossible to find, and should be praised and cherished wherever it is found! Whatever the past may have held for this restaurant, the Crab King is an entirely new animal now, serving up fresh seafood by uncommonly wonderful employees, in a fantastic floating location. They even offer to cook spot prawns and other seafood purchased from the boats docked at the nearby waterfront marketplace, for a modest fee. With all these things going for it, there's no doubt who wears the crown of Crab King in Steveston Harbor!
