You've probably driven past this restaurant a million times if you're heading to Costco Langley without noticing it. Inside the long narrow restaurant the walls are painted black with spot head lights above the table. Service was excellent here. Our food took awhile to come out, but the server notified us ahead of time they were backed up with large orders (I saw several skip drivers in and out). The restaurant had a table of 6 that sat down right before my partner and I, and about 3 couples already seated at other tables separately. While we were waiting, she brought us complimentary miso soup. Very nice gesture. First came out the k style karaage, crispy and flavourful! Sashimi was good as well, but I felt like the wild salmon slices could've been a little bit thicker like by a millimetre or so. The main event, sushi, it was just okay in my opinion. Love that they have a stamp card option!

We love Japanese cuisine so I decided to surprise the hubby with an omakase for his birthday in January. Unfortunately, they have a 6-month wait and I was not prepared so I ended up booking it for our anniversary in May. The food was phenomenal and delicious! I love the chawanmushi loaded with goodies inside. The ankimo (monkfish liver) dish was so tasty with the scallop and prawn. Black cod was cooked to perfection! The nigiris are all so fresh. We quickly put ourselves on the waiting list for after September so we can come here again soon! There's a parking lot just next door. The place inside is small and intimate. Service is great!

Menu: Chawan mushi - steamed egg custard with vegetable(bean, shimeji mushroom) and seafood(shrimp and slice of fish) Ankimo - Monkfish Liver with seasonal seafood(scallop and shrimp) Grilled black cod, with saikyo miso and marinated blue fin tuna and cooked egg. Tenpura - seafood (slice of fish, seafood stuffed vegetable and vegetable(shiitake) 9 pieces of sushi Daily miso soup - clam Dessert - kinako and mitarashi dango Chawan mushi was great. I can taste fish based broth and egg custard was very silky and smooth. Decent amount of ingredients sush as shrimp, slice of fish , bean and shimeji mushroom. I wish they served it slightly cooler than too hot. Ankimo - Great item. Monkfish liver was rich and paired with scallop and shrimp so well. Sauce was just ok. Grilled black cod was another great item. Crispy and juicy, just perfectly done. Blue fine tuna was covered by salty marinated sauce which was great when wrapped with seaweed. Cooked egg was just ok Tenpura - Seafood stuffed vegetable was my favorite. Others were also decent. Highlight and stand out item was 9 pieces of sushi. Honmaguro(bluefine tuna) was good. Shari(sushi rice) was nicely seasoned with vinegar, very mild and which I liked it. Tuna was delicious. Sea breem(MADAI) was another good piece. Delicious. Aburi Toro was nicely seared. I wish this item could be a bit more softer and buttery, but it was still good. Akaebi(red shrimp) and Hokkaido sea urchin - Lightly torched the top of sea urchin and its smokiness brought out more sweetness flavor of Akaebi(red shrimp) Hokkaido Scallop - Very smooth, soft and nice texture. Delicious. Kinmedai(Gold eye snapper) -- My favorite. Texture was very soft and chewy, It was great item. Hokkaido sea urchin - Actually, this one was just ok. I wish it could be more creamy. Unagi - One of the best item. It was so fluffy and soft right after chef cooked and served. This is a must try item. Daily miso soup with clam - I can taste fish broth (dashi) flavor so well. Clam was delicious. It was good. Dessert - Kinako coated mitarashi dango -It was nicely chewy and soft. I wish there were more sauce on it. Overall, it worth visiting this place. The only problem is that so hard to get a reservation. Hopefully, I can get next reservation, may be next year.

Both are excellent! Both served tea in the beginning nice... with the lunch a Is this how Canadian Japanese restaurants all are? Anyways, I've been very impressed by the quality of the food as well as the love that is put into making each dish... from the sushi, to the main course and the tempura fry... all excellent and 10's for everything! Even though it was lunch, I got 8 pieces of sushi rolls 8.5/10... two different kinds... the beef teriyaki was similar to Yummy Sushi with stir fry veggies underneath but Gio also put rice underneath 8.5/10... the tempura was spot on 9/10... Yummy gave me salad which I did miss, but that was a small thing... the inside was newer and nicer looking 8/10... I will come back again... There was only server working when we were there. The decor was quite modern. The place was pretty well kept. The restaurant has plenty of parking. Overall, I really enjoyed the food and I will be back.

Tried out this restaurant with my family after a visit to Driedger Farms for some blueberry picking…read moreand really enjoyed the well priced lunch specials and sushi rolls! First we ordered a sushi and sashimi box which came with a large portion of fresh sashimi, 4 pieces of nigiri, prawn tempura, gyoza and chicken teriyaki. We changed it to beef teriyaki for $1 and even though the box came to around $18, I think it was worth it for the quality of food! The sashimi was all very nicely cut, smooth and flavourful. The beef was not fatty or overly sauced and the tempura was a generous portion of prawn rather than just veggies. We were also presented with complimentary edamame for the entire table! Next, we got their Baked Salmon Roll and Agedashi Tofu Lunch special. This was again, a great deal because the roll itself cost $11.95 so we got an agedashi tofu for only 2 dollars! The tofu was really hot when it came to the table but so soft in a delicious sweet sauce. The roll was a surprise as it was topped with baked salmon AND cheese. I am not a fan of cheese so this ate a little heavy for me BUT my parents really liked the interesting combination and honestly, it kind of worked! The roll was filled with imitation crab meat and the rice layer was nice and thin. Last, we got a chopped scallop roll and it was simple but wonderfully done! With large scallop pieces, well flavoured rice and a good rice to filling portion, I really enjoyed this roll! Overall, we really enjoyed this meal and the service was also extremely sweet!

A small bowl of edamame along with tea was delivered as we were reading the menu. Chicken Teriyaki was tender, flavourful settled a bed of very thinly sliced vegetables - so tasty. Tempura consisted of a bean and 3 shrimp! Noodle salad with a large prawn atop was served in the Lunchbox - Miso soup before the box arrived. Everything flavoured well. A fine meal very well priced. We'll be back!
