I ordered the beef teriyaki full order Beef was a bit smaller Than at damiko sushi up the road i ate last week ... and there was way to much vegetables not enough beef as i said Its almost double what they gave me at damiko for same price They did nothing .... Then after biting into the beef it tasted like they cooked the beef in a fish pot The beef had a fishy taste so i picked the beef out and ate the noodles payed and left not going back Go to damiko langley the beef taste good there ...

First time here and it didn't disappoint. My hubby and I had a quick lunch and we enjoyed having the Beef Udon, Salmon Salad, Dynamite Roll and Edamame. Service was great too and price definitely affordable. We will be back soon.

I was working in the neighbourhood and the closest food complex had a Save on, Starbucks, Freshi, BP and Timmie's....so slim pickins' for lunch. Before I left, I spotted Umami Sushi so I gave it a try and I was pleasantly surprised! They note on the menu they only use wild Sockey salmon and what a relief. Most sushi places serve the farmed salmon (so bad for us and environment). I had the volcano roll and gomae - both are very good. I recommend you try it!

If you like eel in a Japanese restaurant, don't hesitate to try the Unagi Flower Sushi!

More like 2.5/5. Pretty average. Decent prices. Service was meh. Got the veggie yakisoba ($8.50) It was good in the sense that it came out sizzling on the plate. It had a good amount of sauce. Just nothing that made it better than good.

    Toro sashimi and choppee scallop.

I got the Gomae, miso soup, half order of Toro sashimi, and 1 piece chopped scallop. Let's explain this one by one. Toro sashimi and chopped scallop: Great! No complaints. Miso soup: way too salty Gomae: the spinach was way over cooked or something, I was unable to chew it. Service: Horrible! They didn't even check on me once to ask how everything was tasting. Then, when I went to go pay for my bill I told them about the Gomae, and how I couldn't chew it. I only had about 3 bites. They didn't take any actions to better the situation. Still charged me the full thing of Gomae. Pretty disappointing. The only saving grace for this restaurant was the Toro sashimi and chopped scallop. Just one of those places where I'll try it once but would never come back.

    Phoenix roll

Solid 4 stars! Went there for the first time last night and I'm glad we did. It's wonderful to have a great sushi place so close to home. My husband ordered the Phoenix roll and I the dinner box A. We shared both. The Phoenix roll was delish. My only complaint was it fell apart when you tried to pick it up. Maybe it needed to be wrapped a bit tighter??? Also my chicken teriyaki was a tad greasy tasting but other than that we both loved the food and the staff were super friendly and made you feel very welcome. Can't wait to go back!

Lunch combo b, needed more rice, more gyoza, and less teriyaki!

Overall it's not a bad place to stop by for a quick bite. We were served by a lovely korean lady, and the food arrived quickly. Generally I found their food to be too salty (miso soup, teriyaki, salad). Their sushi and tempura was good though. Generally because I live in ontario and only fly to vancouver occasionally, I wouldn't come here again.

Had the tempura udon and the volcano roll. The volcano world was so vibrant and color! Also very tasty and not skimpy at all. Tempura was cooked to perfection and the udon was nice and light but still flavorful. The service was great up until it was their lunch time. All the waitresses and chefs sat at a table and we had to get their attention to checkout. Not that big of a deal for us, but it might be to someone who is a stickler for service.

    Spider Roll
    Joe M.

Spider Roll has a matching web presentation! Tasty but lacking the crunchy softshell crab and fish roe toppings that you normally get from other sushi houses. Loved the separate Softshell Crab order. Takoyaki was a hit! We ordered a second Red Dragon Roll, but the 2nd one was different from the 1st one, though each was really good. So, which one was the real Red Dragon Roll?

    Lion dance roll on special!!
    Peter E.

A strip mall sushi place?? Yeah guess what, they aren't your typical sushi spot. I ordered an appetizer tempura and the lion dance roll. Take a look at the picture. This roll is not only filling but beautifully put together. The almost crab and the roll is bordered with delicious sauces. Yes it's supposed to be a three pepper hot roll so I did "pussy" out and ask for it to be tamed down. I'm happy I did. I loved the freshness and the combination of flavours. It was on special and priced at $8.99. What a great deal. I'm glad this truly authentic and friendly place is here. They are very courteous and professional. Tea is free and so are the smiles. Thank you.

Menu: Chawan mushi - steamed egg custard with vegetable(bean, shimeji mushroom) and seafood(shrimp and slice of fish) Ankimo - Monkfish Liver with seasonal seafood(scallop and shrimp) Grilled black cod, with saikyo miso and marinated blue fin tuna and cooked egg. Tenpura - seafood (slice of fish, seafood stuffed vegetable and vegetable(shiitake) 9 pieces of sushi Daily miso soup - clam Dessert - kinako and mitarashi dango Chawan mushi was great. I can taste fish based broth and egg custard was very silky and smooth. Decent amount of ingredients sush as shrimp, slice of fish , bean and shimeji mushroom. I wish they served it slightly cooler than too hot. Ankimo - Great item. Monkfish liver was rich and paired with scallop and shrimp so well. Sauce was just ok. Grilled black cod was another great item. Crispy and juicy, just perfectly done. Blue fine tuna was covered by salty marinated sauce which was great when wrapped with seaweed. Cooked egg was just ok Tenpura - Seafood stuffed vegetable was my favorite. Others were also decent. Highlight and stand out item was 9 pieces of sushi. Honmaguro(bluefine tuna) was good. Shari(sushi rice) was nicely seasoned with vinegar, very mild and which I liked it. Tuna was delicious. Sea breem(MADAI) was another good piece. Delicious. Aburi Toro was nicely seared. I wish this item could be a bit more softer and buttery, but it was still good. Akaebi(red shrimp) and Hokkaido sea urchin - Lightly torched the top of sea urchin and its smokiness brought out more sweetness flavor of Akaebi(red shrimp) Hokkaido Scallop - Very smooth, soft and nice texture. Delicious. Kinmedai(Gold eye snapper) -- My favorite. Texture was very soft and chewy, It was great item. Hokkaido sea urchin - Actually, this one was just ok. I wish it could be more creamy. Unagi - One of the best item. It was so fluffy and soft right after chef cooked and served. This is a must try item. Daily miso soup with clam - I can taste fish broth (dashi) flavor so well. Clam was delicious. It was good. Dessert - Kinako coated mitarashi dango -It was nicely chewy and soft. I wish there were more sauce on it. Overall, it worth visiting this place. The only problem is that so hard to get a reservation. Hopefully, I can get next reservation, may be next year.

We love Japanese cuisine so I decided to surprise the hubby with an omakase for his birthday in January. Unfortunately, they have a 6-month wait and I was not prepared so I ended up booking it for our anniversary in May. The food was phenomenal and delicious! I love the chawanmushi loaded with goodies inside. The ankimo (monkfish liver) dish was so tasty with the scallop and prawn. Black cod was cooked to perfection! The nigiris are all so fresh. We quickly put ourselves on the waiting list for after September so we can come here again soon! There's a parking lot just next door. The place inside is small and intimate. Service is great!

The variety or options on their all you can eat menu is very limited but the quality makes up for it. I came with a friend and her son. Her son is 12 years old. If you have a kid remember to bring ID or some sort of proof of age to try the all you can eat. One thing to note is that there is a limit on the sashimi which is 10 per person. The kid doesn't have sashimi. But again it is $1 per age of the kid. The food here was very delicious. The sashimi was a bit on the small end but it was ok. They have prawn tempura in their AYCE menu. I came here for lunch so it was only $32 per person which was not bad. I like how you order through an IPad so there is no trying to get a hold of a server. Overall, I recommend this place for AYCE.

The restaurant is in the middle of the long building on the S side of the parking lot. Parking is plentiful in the strip mall lot. No problems at all. The inside is quite pretty. Feels like an outdoor patio in Asia, with the wooden pergolas and fake cherry blossoms. Special mention. Staff are friendly. No complaints. They have a regular menu, but my buddy and I were here for allyoucaneat. They have a lunch and dinner menu, but no late nite. Last call is 30 minutes before closing, so don't come too late in the evening. Sushi here is quite fresh. Selection is not the largest, but it's pretty decent. The one glaring thing that stood out is that other than chicken/beef teriyaki, there are no hot food items (skewers, karaage, ribs etc.). I'm not going to hold this against them, but it's definitely something to keep in mind before showing up. On the other hand, there is no limit for the ice cream scoops at the end. Beautiful. They have chocolate and vanilla. Worth checking out if one is in the area. Recommended.
