Talk about hole in the wall. This tiny place serves up some of the best sushi I have ever had (and I eat a lot of sushi). The rolls are fresh, delicious, and incredibly satisfying all at a reasonable price. Again, it is an incredibly small place with no more than about 5 tables and a little bar seating so it provides an intimate setting. However, we went on a Sunday evening and it was not packed at all. Overall, GREAT SUSHI. read more

Don't Judge a Book by its Cover. Given all of the rave reviews, I was eager to try Sushi Gallery but when we arrived on a Friday night at 8:30pm and the place was empty, my husband backpedaled and wanted to go elsewhere. However I trusted my Yelpers and insisted that this next to the subway joint was worth the try and BOY were we glad that we did. We were the only people in the restaurant but plenty of customers came in and out for take out. We were given complimentary miso soup to start. As for the sushi, the salmon melted in my mouth. Extremely fresh and extremely well portioned. This place will be our go to restaurant for sushi. The rolls were also delicious. We shared the spicy tuna roll and the Fireball roll which was hands down our favorite. The Caterpillar roll on the other hand was a bit bland I can't wait to go back to try the bimbimbap with raw fish and sushi / sashimi dinners! read more

We went on a Sunday for lunch and the place was pretty empty. Despite this it took some time for us to get someone to take our order. However, the wait was worth it. The sushi was delicious and pretty reasonable (sushi is expensive, so this isn't cheap, but it is reasonable for good sushi). I was surprised by the quality of the sushi pieces themselves (nigiri, not rolls or sashimi). The chef was very generous with the fish. I would definitely recommend this place and plan to be back very soon. I would also note that they will ask for ID for sake even if you are clearly over 21. I haven't been carded in sometime but since I didn't have it no drink for me. Sake is pretty reasonable, starting at $4 for the cheapest option. read more

For sushi at a subway station I definitely give this a 5! In price and in quality this sushi stop was a home run!! The black rice is a must try - it sounds scary but it is tastier and is more nutritious than regular white rice as well. When I'm hungry going to the city or even coming back, this is my first stop. There is a sit down restaurant that has very particular hours but I prefer to grab it on the go. For about $5 or so a roll, its a cheap meal and delicious!! Definitely a neighborhood favorite! Nice to see mom and pop spots still exist. read more

The best place for sushi in Brooklyn hands down! Provides great value for a good price!

This sushi place is located within the 2 train Clark St Station. I was pleased to find out it was more of mom and pop place run by a couple. I ordered the salmon avocado and eel avocado. They both came out in great portions with fresh ingredients, simply delicious. The rice was soft but not too chewy. Direct and prompt service. Ended up ordering another round of eel avocado. 3 rounds of rolls came out at $16. Very affordable. Would certainly return to the area when in the mood for sushi. At least I won't need to go outside in the cold. read more

During the pandemic, the Sushi Gallery operates as take-out only. At about 4:15 p.m. Monday through Saturday, the two owners make sushi and have it ready for pickup. However, ask instead to have sushi made fresh. Sushi should be consumed within a half-hour after receiving it for the delightful, fresh taste. Eel-avocado particularly comes out nice and warm. read more

Placed a delivery order via Postmates, and I am very disappointed. Ordered a Gyoza, a Vulcano Roll, and a Fireball Roll which did not look anything like the photos on Yelp. The food was super spicy and the rolls was broken and smushed. Never again. read more

Great place for sushi take-out! Sushi tastes fresh and they make the food very quickly. Prices are also very fair.

my sis has always raved about this gem.... and once again, she did not lead me astray! reasonably priced sushi made with fresh fish and generous portions. seems to be a mom and pop operation as well. for so many years, i went to miso in dumbo....i declare that sushi gallery is the new official go-to sush spot when I'm in town! read more

Sushi Gallery NY BK Brooklyn Heights 2pm Tuesday 10th January 2017 Five Stars After seeing Jiro Dreams of Sushi, I thought there would not be any stigma of a subway station restaurant but I was hesitant to try this sushi spot next to the Clark Street Station. The inside was nice, plain, and a bit of Japanese decor. We sat at the bar and these two amazing people ran the entire business. The man made the sushi. The woman helped prep everything and served. I had the lunch special Hwe Dup Bap ($12 for lunch only), which was a bowl of white sushi rice, lettuce, and variety of toppings: fish, tomago, tobiko, avocado, and daikon with a side of Korean chili sauce. It was huge and delicious. It came with soup, salad, and barley Tea. I had the sushi appetizer which was $8 for pieces of sushi. The rice was warm, loosely packed, slightly sweet. The tuna was pink. The salmon has thin horizontal stripes of fat. The snapper had a nice coloring. The ebi/shrimp was okay. Tiffany had the chirashi ($18) which was rice with 14 pieces of sashimi. It was much nicer looking but less filling. I really enjoyed this place. read more

Mom and Pop sushi place that's really good. Everything we had was so yummy, can't remember the last time that happened. Udon noodle soup was flavorful and full of veggies, spicy tuna and Spicy Tuna, Yellowtail & Salmon Roll were perfect. They also have all this sushi ready to go in their case no waiting. This place is kinda small but don't let that put you off. read more

High quality restaurants can be found in surprising places! (Sukiyabashi Jiro?) Sushi Gallery is no exception - located in the Clark St Subway station, with it's main entrance facing Clark Street. It is run by an impeccably clean, hard working Korean husband and wife couple. There are better sushi shops out there (Blue Ribbon, etc), but there is NO WHERE in Manhattan or Brooklyn where you will get personalized service, a restaurant to yourself, and food of this freshness and quality at such a price. Ineed, their Korean menu items are sleeper hits! The Hwe Dup Bap really rocks the house - it is basically a sashimi salad over rice with Korean sweet chili paste. Easily big enough to feed two, I usually finish things off with their excellent green tea ice-cream. BulGogi and Chirashi also recommended, as well as their delicate mushroom soup. Food quality is very high, innovation is low, but the personal service and peaceful atmosphere are really exceptional and way above expectation - 5 stars considering the whole package and pricing. read more

First time going and I loved it! I ordered to-go but the staff was so nice and friendly! Didn't have to wait too long and the food was super good!! Don't know why I avoided Sushi Gallery for all these years. It's very good. Frankly, it's the best sushi I've had in Bklyn Heights (gasp, yes, better than the nabe beloved Iron Chef located one block away, which IMHO is average). Perhaps it's because the restaurant is technically located in the Clark Street subway station that weirded me out a bit. But I heard good things from nabe friends, it's recently been awarded an "A" health rating, and walked by their refrigerated vending stand a few weeks ago and thought I'd give it a try as a post-gym dining option. I grabbed a few eel/avocado and spicy tuna rules and some miso and was pleasantly surprised. Another surprise was the decor. It's very small inside, but also very cute, cozy and clean. The husband and wife team are super polite and pleasant. And they are opened until 11pm, which is gold in this area. Went back a few nights ago and the uber-courteous husband/wife team rolled me a few fresh ones, which were excellent. The third time I tried them, the sushi was delicious and fresh, and the Udon soup I had was very tasty, with perfectly al dente noodles. Very inexpensive--about 30% less than area sushi joints, and better. read more

From the outside, you wouldn't dare venture in but I'm telling you it's worth it! It's a cute mom and pop shop located inside the Clark St subway entrance. It's an ideal ideal spot for a date, especially if you're a college student living in the Brooklyn Dorms. The prices won't burn a hole in your pocket and you'll be treating your date to a meal they won't forget! Don't mind the times listed, usually your best bet is to head in around d 4 - 6 pm when it's not as busy or 10 - 11, right before they close. Notes: 1. Their spicy tuna and spicy salmon is a tad spicier if your taste buds are new to spicy foods. 2. They no longer serve hot foods minus the dumplings, soup and edemame. 3. They accept credit cards! 4. They have alcohol! read more

We are always on the look out for casual sushi spots so when the BF came across the well-rated Sushi Gallery on Yelp just one stop away via metro, we knew we had to go! Little did we know it was located within the Clark Street Dumbo MTA station. Normally I'd be a little wary about sushi in a subway (this isn't Japan), but this stop is a bit more polished than most and has quite a few decent looking food vendors. We were also happy to see a few normal looking patrons sitting down at the sushi restaurant, so we were feeling good. Loving how husband & wife (assuming) run this small sushi restaurant (I believe it's Japanese / Korean). The sushi was fresh and very affordable. Only downside is they didn't have my favorite ginger dressing for the green salad (only a mayo based one). Will definitely come back! read more

This is my very first review. Ever. Sushi Gallery is my favorite sushi place in all NYC. I travel all the way from Upper West Side to enjoy sushi, although there are plenty of sushi spots in my area. The owners are very welcoming and accommodating. I've been frequenting this spot for the past 10+ years and I will continue to do so. read more

I attended Pace University and lived in the EHS dorms next door. I had never eaten sushi as I am a 'country boy' from Virginia and was never exposed to the cuisine. One night my GF made a visit to me at my dorm and brought some sushi rolls. Being in NYC I was opening myself up to different foods, within means, and experiences, also within means, and I took a taste of the sushi. From then on it is history. I now have my own apartment on the cusp of Lefferts Park/East Flatbush and I make a visit to get some spicy tuna and salmon rolls say every month. The owners are nice and converse to a degree but if you know Korean/Japanese culture you won't take it as an offense if they don't continuously talk with you as they are preparing other peoples foods. (I've read other people's reviews on "Hospitality" and other things which in my opinion these people are....well no need to go there). Bottom line if you want fresh food, inexpensive prices, and good yet healthy portions of food make a visit here. You may like it, or better yet love it and be back time and time again. read more

The best sushi I've ever had. I've been here so many times I've gotten free food, they've known me for so long. It's located right outside of the Clark St train station (2/3) and run by 3 Japanese people who couldn't be kinder or more courteous. The atmosphere is peaceful, relaxing, and tranquil. About 6 tables, and the sushi bar to sit and eat as you watch the guy prepare the food. The menu is robust and plentiful, and everything tastes amazing (and the price isn't bad either!). My favorites are the volcano, tropicana, willow, clark, and so many more I can't think of right now. The salad and miso soup are delicious as well. I absolutely love everything about this place. It's well worth the trip. read more

Specifically came here because all of the great reviews on Yelp and it did not disappoint. I've been searching for a good sushi place in NY and I've finally found it. This cute, cozy (and clean) little sushi place is attached to the 2/3 Clark subway stop in Brooklyn Heights. Totally unassuming from the outside, but once inside, you'll find a nice quiet and relaxing spot to have lunch or supper. The Korean couple who own and run the restaurant are really sweet. Two of my favorites so far are the chirashi (a bed of sushi rice topped with slices of sashimi) and also the Sushi Gallery roll. Prices are totally reasonable considering that the portions are rather generous. If you're on the go and don't want to wait, they have a refrigerated section with already prepared vegetarian and non-vegetarian makis. read more

Not much I can mention about Sushi Gallery since unfortunately their (frier/stove) was not working so they could not prepare any hot foot. Decided to just order some rolls anyway (spicy combo tuna/salmon) and I was very pleased. The miso soup was fresh and flavorful. Usually I don't even bother having the soup, but it looked good and tasted good as well. The rolls were fresh and had this orange colored sauce placed over the rolls that looked to be for presentation, but added a nice taste to the rolls. I myself usually have the rolls with soy sauce, but the very last one I decided to try without the soy and it was pretty tasty as is. I will definitely head back and hopefully they will be able to make hot dishes again. They mentioned that it might take a month, but I will be back before that just for the rolls and whatever else they can whip up. read more

Lovely meal at Sushi Gallery. If this were our local, we'd be thrilled. Nice rolls, good portions, excellent service...I'm giving this 5 stars as a perfect place for takeout sushi or a quick sushi dinner. Not a date night or fancy high end sushi experience - there are other places for that. This, however, really hit the spot for exactly what it is: a lovely neighborhood sushi bar. read more

I love Sushi Gallery! This is honestly the best sushi I've ever had. We lived right next to sushi gallery for about 2 years and would get it at least once a week. They have a refrigerator outside the restaurant so you can grab and go on your way home (Not sure if this is still there during COVID). The menu has a lot of options. Everything I have tried there has been great. Their tea is wonderful and their soups are the best I've had as well. It takes a bit of time to get your food because it is just the husband and wife making it. They make everything right in front of you. They are extremely hard working. At first they come off as very straight forward and to the point but once you get to know them they are very friendly. We moved from Brooklyn right before COVID and we have not been able to find a sushi spot as great as sushi gallery. Every time we go back to the city we make a point to stop by here. When we last visited they remembered us and were so glad we came back. They were telling other guests how we used to live nearby and come eat all the time. read more

Simply Amazing. This place opened up my perspective so much of NYC restaurant. I believed because it was in a subway stop it could not be good, but then one day my GF brought me a Spicy Tuna roll and that was it. Hook, line and sinker. I have been back so many times. I stayed at the Dormitory and then moved to Boro Park Brooklyn, but I still come to BK heights just for the Sushi (and the convo with the Chef and his Wife is great as well) Try it. Sushi Gallery had closed during the pandemic but has now reopened. If you want sushi in the Brooklyn Heights/Clark St. area and don't mind getting takeout, this is the best quality option. Since they don't have the resources to provide outdoor seating, they've put in place a temporary $10 minimum and require a credit card for payment. They also suggest that you call ahead to place your order, but it's not required. My expectation is that once it's safe to return to normal business practices they will return to in-house restaurant service. For now, these are the limitations the owners have put in place to keep themselves and you safe. read more

This is a great little find especially in BH. The fish is very fresh and all their other dishes are equally as tasty. Is it Blue Ribbon Sushi, Hibino or Sushi Yasuda? No, but it does the trick. Great Mom and Pop vibe. Mom does the hot foods, while Pop handles the sushi. I have yet to try their Korean dishes, but I hear they're quite good too. They also have one of the largest hot sakes I've ever seen! Also, when they get really busy, because it is tiny, they will turn away take out customers to focus on the in restaurant clients. Nice call. I've been apologetically turned away from the sushi bar when they've been packed because they didn't want me waiting for food. NIce call. This place is a great local joint. read more

granted the sushi is nothing amazing BUT if you're the type or person who wants to support the "mom & pop" stores of this world..
