Up to this point most Sushi sucks in Denver ( at least from this Gaijin). Sushi Den has their fish flown in from Tsukiji in Tokyo from one of the owner's brothers....so you can rest assured you are getting bad ass fish. Yes everything was delish....but you pay my friend....it is worth it. Two small bones of contention: The Waygu is probably Snake River (this is nowhere near what Kobe beef is...somewhat misleading) our service person felt more like pimping us: constantly pushing things ( okay subtly so). Don't get me wrong she was great and suggested really good stuff but I felt like she was trying to get us the GFE. None the less this is the best sushi experience I have had in the mile high city and would highly recommend Pro Tip: If you do not have reservations get there at 4:45 so you can snag a bar seat. read more

Service was good. My only complaint was on piece #5 of 6 I hit some shell. Ouch. They did not take this off the check because I had eaten most of it. I was at the bar and the bartender literally saw and immediately asked if I was okay. It should have been removed. Other that that, the rest of the food was good. read more

Coming from South Florida, where I frequently eat at Kuro at the Seminole Hard Rock, my expectations for sushi and service are sky-high. Sushi Den's food definitely impressed, but what truly made this visit exceptional was my waiter, Robert. Robert was the most attentive server I've ever encountered. He didn't just check in -- he anticipated my needs before I even realized them. When he noticed I only used Splenda, he actually refilled the sugar caddy with Splenda packets. No one has ever done that for me before. My drink? It never even got close to empty. Every detail was handled with precision and genuine care, turning a great dinner into an unforgettable one. We sat at the chefs table with Yasu. Best sushi experience I have had, he told us stories, jokes, taught us history about sushi and just provided amazing conversation. This restaurant offers some of the best sushi that I've ever tasted. This is a very romantic restaurant & the food tops it off. The staff are incredible and so knowledgeable about the food and of what will compliment what. You can trust them to know the menu so much that with a little info of what fish you like they can bring you out their best recommendations. This is what we did and I'm so glad. The salmon belly is top notch. But of course you can also just order anything on the menu if you are not into trying food at random. You can also book a more private chef curated sushi dinner where all food will be up to the chef. This is definitely for anyone who is open to trying new things and true foodies. This is a private dinner you'll have to book before hand on the website and I believe it's up to 5 seats. All in all, this is an incredible 5 star sushi restaurant. I HIGHLY recommend. My mouth immediately started watering as soon as I started writing this review. This is the BEST sushi I've had in Denver yet. It's notoriously pricey, but the fish is SO thick (see photos) and the portions are generally huge, so it's totally worth the cost. I would come back for the Chirashi Bowl, which is one of my favorite things to get at Japanese restaurants. Apparently it's available to-go which is even better when Sushi Den gets busy. All the appetizers were tasty. Lots of cocktails to choose from. I personally got hot sake, which was delicious. The rice was good, but really focus on getting as many pieces of fish as possible when you come here. I've been to Izayaka Den (pretty much the same thing) and both the space and service are classy. The good things are that the fish is great quality, the sushi rolls are made with ingredients that pair very well with the flavour of the fish instead of masking them, and the nigiri is fresh. The bad things? The staff doesn't communicate very well with each other and the servers seem more interested in racking up your bill rather than actually help you. Went here last weekend to celebrate a birthday dinner for both myself and my best friend who was visiting, which I told them at the door and the hostess had no intention of telling the server. Then the server served us up 2 sake flights instead of 1 to share (which is what we both asked for, twice) and when it came to asking for just a few orange slices so my friends could cleanse their palates easier they instead charged us $8 for 3 cut up bar oranges. The food was tasty but the service is not great. Tl;dr: Don't believe the hype. This place is highly overrated. read more

Overall Sushi Den is one of the best Japanese restaurants in the nation. This review is specifically for the Chef's Table experience. My wife and I celebrated our 25th anniversary hoping to splurge at our favorite restaurant. My previous reviews provide all the things we love about Sushi Den, but I thought others may want to know more about the chef's table. With all respect to the Chef, his knowledge and dedication to his art is inspiring. We loved his stories about the roots of Japanese cuisine and enjoyed the experience. I don't think we would prefer it over selecting our own options next time. The assortment was fantastic and should be experienced if your a food geek, but keep in mind you are paying a premium for the opportunity to have the Chef interact and select your menu. There were a few "misses" that took away a little of the luster. We had a been contacted a few months before our reservation so the Chef could personalize our menu. We had mentioned my wife was gluten free, we disliked the red non-fatty tuna, and we were medium eaters. It seemed like these personalized choices were lost. The most disappointing part was the Happy Anniversary chocolate cake, which my wife couldn't eat, that they charged us for. Not a great way to end. We still love Sushi Den, and will be back as often as we can afford it. They have created something special that really stands above the rest. read more

(3.5 overall) The ambiance in place is spectacular and the sushi is good... I'm from southern California and we have some amazing sushi places down there. Was this sushi amazing in my opinion- no but it was good. You're also going to spend a pretty penny here, the rolls I liked were $24 each & they weren't large. Our waitress and the staff were stellar and did a great job. Overall, I rounded this place to a 4 star because of the ambiance & staff & also the sushi is good. I probably won't be back because of the cost to quality taste ratio- for me it didn't add up. So far I've found one other sushi spot that has better sushi for 1/2 the price, but not the ambiance. Would I recommend this place? Sort of, it's impressive ambiance with good food, so good for someone trying to impress someone on a date but not the best spot for foodies looking for the best sushi. This place is legit good! They seated us early on our reservation with immediate service. Our server, Guy C., took great care to provide thorough recommendations and, really, organize our dinner service, as we were overwhelmed with vast menu options. Guy and the restaurant support staff proceeded to provide impeccable service. Now, the food--Everything was extremely fresh with exceptional flavor. Went for a birthday and very pleased. The aburi toro, toro and aburi scallops (aburi means seared) were outstanding, truly top tier. A robust bento box came with well seasoned steak and salmon. Cheery warm surroundings and superb waitress Christine, who was very attentive and presented my wife with a complimentary birthday yuzu sorbet with a candle, despite our declining any dessert. The only fly in the ointment was that when the young female hostess was seating us, in an empty restaurant at 5 pm just after opening the doors, she ignored our advance written request for a private quiet table (for a birthday celebration) and placed us at a tiny table squeezed next to a large party which had just been seated. We were disappointed. We are big sushi/asian food lovers and did not love what we ordered. We weren't given half the menu until the end when we asked to see the dessert menu....maybe we would've liked what was on there? We did order the gyoza off of that missing menu and loved it, we also liked the crispy tuna. The rolls were disappointing, the taste just was not great. Top item was the deluxe platter! I am really big on fresh ingredients and the one in the platter comes in from Tokyo! Service was good and ambiance was busy since it's a popular place for dinner. The Spider roll needed unagi sauce and less time in the fryer, and ingredients used for the assorted tempura needs work. Certain vegetables should only be used for tempura. In our assortment we had broccoli and I was not a fan. Since it steams as it's getting fried and how large of a piece it was, leads the inside to become soggy. If they can refine their menu and technique,I would give them five stars. However I will come back for the fish! read more

It's an extensive menu - which our waitress walked us through all the most popular and special items. Also there was a line of about 30 people waiting for the restaurant to open at 5pm. We were seated in the first wave as a walk in. The prices were reasonable for the quality you're getting. Portion is on the smaller side. We had an incredible time with our guests at Sushi Den. We were asked to walkthrough a doorway to enter into the other half of the restaurant which was stunning with live bamboo growing along side a staircase. The fish quality was excellent, but just about everything we ordered was from the catch of the day menu, excluding the snow crab nigiri, unagi nigiri and black cod. Really enjoyed the oshisushi style app. The blue fin tuna app was amazing, melt in your mouth, and just so pure tasting. I would skip the snow crab nigiri and cod just because I've had such better crab/cod at home in Canada. The sake was great, and also an herbaceous martini was lovely! And for some reason I just really wanted some veg tempura so I had a small order of that. So light and fresh. The wasabi lovely... def tastes like real wasabi root was served not just the add water wasabs. Food so perfectly seasoned. Food made and prepared with much respect for the ingredients and seasonality of many items. Bar service attentive and chill. Good vibes all throughout the restaurant on both sides. Love this place! You will to! And Please dont just order a Cali roll or Spicy tuna! Great sushi and sashimi are soo much more than that and THIS is the perfect place to try things you were scared to try. Sushi den definitely lives up to the hype! We are from Houston and found this place via YouTube and Yelp and it did not let us down. It is a beautiful modern sushi restaurant that is huge and gets very busy. I would definitely make a reservation before going. Our waiter, Joe was so friendly and was so knowledgeable when it came to the menu and sake recommendations. He saw what we ordered and recommended something that would be in our budget and compliment our meal as well. A+ service from Joe....when you GO ask for JOE! Really enjoyed my time and food at this restaurant. I showed up on a Saturday evening, group of 5, and with no reservations. We got on the waitlist and we're seated in 35 minutes. Not too bad! We decided to walk around some while we waited. Sadly most of the stores in the area close early so there wasn't much to see. Once we were seated our waitress helped us right away and took our order. She made at least 8-10 trips to our table for more food orders, drink refills, desert order, etc. there as one small hiccup when a plate didn't come out. She went right to the back and came back with the food asap. One of the biggest surprises was on the desert menu. I've never seen pineapple upside cake on a desert menu. Our wonderful server walked us through their menus (it changes daily) and what she recommended. She was incredibly knowledgeable and was amazing. I wish I remembered her name. (We were there 7/13/24 and sat at a two top in next to the sushi bar) Food: we ordered the black miso fish, calamari, four different rolls, and green tea Tiramisu. The black miso fish was the greatest appetizer. My husband and I still talk about it. The calamari is not your "typical" dish where it is fried. It was good but after the black miso fish, it came second best. We had two limited rolls and two that are on their menu. All were phenomenal. Our server recommended the green tea Tiramisu and while we were hesitant. I am a Tiramisu snob. We were so happy she did! It was delicious. The food is well worth the price.
