From a visit 1/1/2019 @ 1240 pm! We were super excited to finally try this place out. Literally walked in, sat ourselves down...place was not busy. Walked out after about 12 minutes of not being acknowledged. People were being served to the left and ones in front of us but not even a hello, we will be right with you! We love this place. Best salmon skin handroll i've ever had. And i've eaten a LOT of salmon skin hand rolls in my 46 years! They make my eyes roll back in my head. No lie! Sometimes I crave them & come in all by myself for lunch & order 2. No shame in my sshr game! Delicious garlic edamame. The tempura veggies are divine! They should call this place Covid Brokers because I'm pretty the next outbreak in the Phoenix area will be traced back to here. I'm not even sure if they're operating legally because the restaurant was completely packed with no regard to social distancing, as was the bar. Our waitress pulled her entire mask down to introduce herself and every time she came by to take our order or check on us. Most of the staff had their noses dangling out of their masks. Also, covid aside, the cocktails here are awful unless you are 19 and still enjoy jungle juice. We also weren't carded like we are EVERYWHERE in downtown Gilbert, and pretty much everyone there looked under 21 so I'm assuming this is the place to go for underage kids to get wasted. Great sushi place in Gilbert. We are used to going to the scottsdale location. I was worried it would not be the same. Great news, it's awesome. Happy hour from 3-6:3 is a great time. We went on a Monday at 5 and no one was there. Great service and great good. My recommendations are the chimichanga roll and the Las Vegas roll. You won't be disappointed. I wouldn't go unless you catch happy hour. It's a bit pricy. I've found the happy hour prices equate to normal prices anywhere else. read more

OK.....so first off, I can't tell the difference between good sushi and bad sushi. It all kind of tastes the same to me......... Except for now. This place was a different experience for me. Flavor, taste, presentation, all a 10. I was on a first date, the waitress was patient and kind, didn't rush us out of there. We stayed at our table for 2 1/2 hours. Sushi broker is our go to for local sushi. Behind the main strip in downtown Gilbert. Secret note: their 50/50 French fries are the best fries I have ever had. Half sweet potato, half regular. Odd note for sushi. Food is really good. Yellowtail is one of our favorites! They aren't skimping on cuts like many sushi places lately. I see the bad reviews for service and that's too bad. Did an online order through their website for pick up. Never received an email stating when the order would be ready or when it was ready. I had to go back on to the website and begin to start a new order to see a wait time. Their "ASAP" option was 30 minutes which is fine. However without the email saying the order was ready I waited the 30 minutes to go get the sushi and by the time I got there it was all room temp. The sauces for the rolls were less than 1/4 full. The calamari appetizer was bland and cold and incredibly small. Also everything is sooo overpriced for what you get. Never going back. read more

This place is a step above traditional sushi places. Not only did we have great service, we were in and out of here for lunch in about 30 min. If you're looking for lunch in downtown Gilbert and don't want to wait in line, check this out! The sushi was great too. It has little details that made us like this place a lot. The Philly roll has smoked salmon instead of regular... the spicy tuna has a really great (actually spicy!) flavor... they also give you huge portions of wasabi and ginger. It's nice not having to ask for extra every time! We didn't get drinks today, but the cocktail menu looks really fun. We will be back to check out more for happy hour! read more

Since my first review I have been back to sushi brokers twice. I like that they have a patio and we have gone during happy hour in the summerand have been able to distance (but it was over 100 degrees so i don't know how it would be now). The service was pretty good. The servers have been super friendly and relatively fast. They have both been a little unconcerned about keeping masks on however, which bothers me. The sushi was delicious both times, especially their special rolls. It's still pretty expensive even during happy hour, but I definitely recommend it because I haven't found other amazing sushi places in Gilbert. If you know of one please let me know! read more

My husband and I visited this establishment and oh do i have alot things to say about this place. Part 1: THE Waiter. Although the venue is nice, it doesn't account for the absolutely abismal sevice. Our waiter spent far too long at our table talking to us and didn't get the hint that the conversation was going on for far longer than it should. Then out of the blue, this server decided to offer a ridiculous anecdote on racial politics. The waiter made a comment within the context of visiting Japan - a conversation he initiated unprompted - where he implied that the Japanese would favor me over my husband since I am Asian and he is African American. Honestly, why would I want to hear that - especially at a restaurant that serves Japanese cuisine? Issues with this employee didn't seem limited to our table, apparently, as we overheard another costomer yelling loudly in the restaurant "you're fucking disgusting" as she walked away from him. Part 2: The food The food itself was actually pretty good. It was just unfortunate how long it took to be served. We received our first 2 dishes from someone who was originally mopping. Which bring to question whether he washed his hands before serving. The wait for the remaining orders took so long that we were forced to ask for a status update before they were brought to our table. It's almost as though this server's attention was more focused on making inappropriate remarks to other guests than providing adequate service to waiting patrons. For our wait, my husband and I were served luke-warm food as though they were sitting out for too long. Part 3. The Aftermath After our meal, we decided to speak to the manager as we had come to realize that our negative experience needed to be addressed. A very empathetic staff member assisted us in gaining the attention of the manager and didn't appear to be surprised with our experience. The manager was very apologetic and sincere and quickly assured us that this person would be terminated. My only Issue with that she didn't offer to comp our meal and rejected the idea when we suggested it. We were only offered a $50 gift card which represented only a fraction of the bill. This manager didn't even ask to review the bill to determine compensation, just a stipend to return. If a guest experiences incredibly subpar service at your place of business, it is critical that you actually put effort, within reason, into repairing that relationship to secure return business. We obviously will not be returning. I felt strongly while writing this review because I didn't get to voice all my complaints in person because I was too emotionally distaught thinking about that racist comment. The owner should improve their hiring standards to ensure this doesn't happen again in the future. We should have gone to Nobu instead. read more

This would have to be some of the best sushi I've ever had. I am constantly begging my boyfriend and friends to come here with me because everything is always spot on. The garlic truffle edamame is melt in your mouth good, I order it every time I visit. The fish is always as fresh as it gets, love how they don't cut it super thick, it's always just right! Love the tuna poke bowl and sunshine roll! The best rolls in town by far, just about everything I've ever tried here is delicious. Love how attentive the servers are, they are all such sweet girls. Sushi Brokers is located in the happening heart of Gilbert but it's lacking when it comes to it's name. We went to Sushi Brokers for their half off anniversary and I have to say I was not impressed. When it comes to sushi, I look for originality, price and freshness. Although the rolls were pretty fresh, most of the rolls were all the same. They typically all had either spicy crab, avocado or salmon in them. We ordered a couple of rolls; the surf and turf, las vegas, the darn good roll, the scallop roll, and the California Club. Out of all the rolls, the scallop roll, Philly and Vegas roll were the best. Typically a Vegas roll has eel sushi with unagi sauce but this roll utilized Salmon instead. It was actually pretty good considering. The scallop roll was second best but I didn't actually enjoy any of the other rolls. The california club was spicy so I couldn't enjoy it and the darn good roll was forgettable. We also tried the Crab Rangoons which were alright but the taste was off. When we received the bill it was pretty substantial but thankfully it was half off. If I went there on a different night I wouldn't have wanted to pay those high prices for just okay sushi. Other than that, the atmosphere is nice and it is in a nice area. I just feel there are better sushi places around the valley. read more

Im being generous with the 2 stars because I've visited this location a couple times before and the service had been decent, but the past service felt like royalty in comparison to tonight. My son is visiting from out of town so he and I went in to grab some sushi and to catch up. We arrived, put our name on the wait list, we're handed a buzzer and told it would be approximately a 20 minute wait. Like I said, my son is visiting so we were burning time by talking and catching up. But after a while we notice groups our size or larger that added their names on the wait list, after ours, we're getting in before us. At around the 45 minute mark I finally ask the hostess what's going on with our spot. She flips through the names and says "ohhhh. We called your names already." Now my son and I were sitting about 4 feet from the hostess stand. And even though we were talking, we were also starving and would not have both missed hearing one of our names called. Also, our buzzer never went off. We finally get seated and after a slow delivery of drinks and an even slower delivery of sushi, we never saw our server again. I had to track my server down to ask for our check. The whole experience was hard to enjoy and the service was awful. I won't be back. read more

There was a rumor that a new Sushi restaurant was going to open in Old Town Gilbert and "its going to be really good!". Went here a couple of times before posting this review. My last visit pretty much sealed the deal. Negatives Every time my wife and I eaten here, our drinks (soda) didn't taste good. Carbonation was always off. You tasted more of the carbonated water rather than the requested flavor. We just ended up ordering water. One thing I hate about having a waiter or waitress is relying on them to refill my soda (my personal opinion). I drink a lot of liquid and thanks to the Army, I eat too fast. I will not eat unless I have a drink near me. Every time we dined in; we only had got one refill for our drinks during our 30-45 minute visits. My wife ended up sharing her drink with me because she fears I'll choke on how fast I eat. We're very considerate if it's busy and we understand but after 10-12 minutes... These have been the same results in all our visits which will drive us away. The last time I was here, I came in by myself and sat at the bar. The restaurant itself was pretty empty during this time. Nobody came up to me for an awkward 5-6 minutes. I looked around and I saw employees standing around, talking and laughing with each other. One of the chefs (sushi maker) saw me waiting and he took the liberty to ask me what I would like to drink and handed me the sushi menu. One thing I noticed is uniform. I guess yoga pants and workout clothes is the standard. It was hard to distinguish who was an employee. I can't take someone serious who looks like they just got out of the gym or looks like they just rolled out of bed. Positives A lot of sushi to select. Tasty and plates are clean in presentation. Overall the food is great! Clean restaurant and attracts quality customers. Lively on Friday and Saturday nights. Happy hour prices have more than doubled. Sure that's fine, but unfortunately the service was below par. It wasn't crowded and we only saw our waitress to order and to pay the check. We ordered drinks and our food at THE SAME TIME. We received our drinks and before we knew it, we had been sitting for over an hour with NO FOOD! We literally only ordered 2 chicken fried rice, an order of edamame, and an order of potstickers. THAT'S it. I guess we were so caught up in conversation we didn't notice we had been waiting so long and that the waitress never even came over to offer an explanation. The only reason she finally did was because we made eye contact. She then walks over and says "hey, I don't know what's going on with your food." No other explanation. She then brings us the check instead of offering to comp it, saying she only charged us for one drink. We declined to pay for the one drink so she stormed off and rolled her eyes bidding us a good day! Customer service and food were non-existent. This used to be our favorite sushi spot, we went once a week and the servers knew us. Then it went way downhill. The service started being SO slow. The server told us the good sushi chefs who worked there left and they were struggling to find someone new who was as good and fast. We kept coming a few more times and every time the service was slow. Waited a while and eventually a few months later returned to give it one more chance. Such a bad experience! So sad. Waited forever for our drinks. Beer was in a warm bottle with the cap still on had to go up to bar to ask for someone to open it. Waited 1 hour 15 min for sushi rolls. The server apologized for the wait but it kept taking longer. Sushi arrived with no ginger, we had to go up to the bar to get ginger. The server should have told a manager of the situation. People who were seated way after us got their sushi rolls way before us. Prices were crazy high. Worst of all, the sushi rolls have gone way downhill too. Never again. Sushi Brokers is my happy place. I take my niece here when she is in town. She is 10 yrs old and she loves the diamondback roll. I just listen to her, she said it feels like therapy when I take her here. She is usually sad, but after taking her here she opens up and becomes like her old self. Also I love they respect people with medical conditions that can not wear a mask. This place is very popular so be mindful going on the weekend because it will take a lot longer to get your sushi but it's worth it. Sushi Brokers can have all my money. read more

However today 4/28/19 we came after church to dine and in between eating we had to swat flies constantly.
