You order off an iPad. The iPad has pictures of all the food and if you look at the bottom of the menu there is a spot to ask for spoons and extra water and whatnot. The waitress brings condiments and drinks and the bill, and your food shoots out of the kitchen on a fun train. Our food was good and the waitress was very pleasant.

Very rainy day at English Bay area. Found this sushi place to try. Instead of a conveyor belt, it was mainly a train delivery style. Most food are ordered on an IPAD and delivered to you buy the train. For a certain amount of sushi you purchase, you can play a game on the ipad and win special discount offer. Pretty neat! Ordered a bunch of sushi, nigiri, and fried food. I've seen not so good reviews here of this place, but the food was actually pretty delicious! Flavorful and fresh. Everything came out pretty quick. Service was pretty attentive.

Love this place! Prices are reasonable and easy to order from a screen and you watch your food delivered straight to your table! Genius! Great entertainment and lots of great items to select from the menu. The sashimi is fresh. The portions are not large but the quality makes up for it.

    IPad for ordering.

I met a fellow Yelpie here for dinner, for the special, annual "Dine Out Vancouver" menu. To be honest, we were both underwhelmed. The restaurant is cute enough, with a fairly unique food delivery concept: instead of the conveyor belt system in many west coast sushi restaurants, this place has a "bullet train" bring your food to your table in a channel running alongside the table booths. The food is presented nicely in black matte, modern dishware, the servers are pleasant, and they have mounted iPads at each table for diners to order what they want, or notify staff that they're ready to pay the bill. The food is fresh. In particular, the sashimi was delicious. But beyond that, the rest is...meh. The Dine Out Van menu consisted of the following appetizers: Miso soup, Tamago Yaki, Gomae and Spring Roll. Then there was the main sushi meal: 2 pcs Salmon, 1 pc Sockeye & 2 pcs Tuna Sashimi, 1 pc Izumi Dai & 1 pc Saku nigiri, 1 pc salmon and 1 pc ebi and 2 pcs special roll. Then there was a dessert of a Happy Pudding. We weren't thrilled with the meal. Yes, the sashimi was quite good, and I really liked the spring roll and the salmon. The ebi was also good but chewy. I wasn't keen on the other pieces. Some had off-putting seasonings and spices. One literally tasted like pepperoni from a pizza (very distinctive taste. Weird, in a sushi piece). Just odd. And then there was the dessert. The pudding was straight from the store, in its plastic little cup and tinfoil lid. When you go out for dinner, you don't expect to get a store-bought dessert. I have literally see these puddings in Shoppers Drug Marts and Japanese food stores. Our Dine Out meal cost $36. Was it worth it? My friend and I did not think so. On the way out, we passed metal shelving by the front door with a large brown bag on the floor, covering some spill, and cleaning supplies. Not impressive.

Decided to go with another fellow yelper to check out this trendy new sushi place. The concept of having a train deliver food is cute. It has a casual ambiance. The food was okay overall and nothing out of the ordinary. We tried the dine-out menu, and I have to say that for 36$, it was not worth it. Came with Miso soup to start with. We also had some sashimi(2 pieces of salmon, 1 piece of sockeye, 2 pieces of tuna), tamago, a spring roll, and a spinach salad with black sesame dressing (gomae). The food was fresh, and sashimi was the best part of the appetizer. Next, we had 1 piece Izumi Dai (which was very chewy), 1 piece Saku Nigiri, 1 piece salmon and 1 piece ebi aburi (tasted like pizza), and 2 pieces of the special roll. I was disappointed with the Izumi Dai and the ebi aburi. For the dessert, we got a 'HAPI PUDDING' and it was so unappetizing and anti-climatic. If I wanted that, I would have gone to a convenience store. It also took a long time to get our bill. I am really disappointed with the menu and would have given a 2.5 star but I rounded it to 3 stars. I don't know if I'd be inclined to come back as the service was not great and the experience was disappointing.

Nice vegan sushi options! Pair a vegan sushi + agedashi tofu and you have a nice vegan meal. The tree mori roll was good - the shiitake mushrooms were especially chewy, replicating a texture similar to squid. I was pleasantly surprised! The pricing is quite reasonable for sushi as well. Would recommend.

This is a super fun restaurant! Nothing fancy and maybe a little gimmicky with the sushi train going around but it kept my kiddo entertained. And the rolls are really good here. We ordered a number of them. The Hot Crunchy Ebi Roll was our favourite but all were fresh and tasty. The other one that stood out was the pinky pinky roll. But all were good. And even though there was a train going around delivering the servers were also going around seeing if we needed anything. The seafood yaki udon was tiny for the price of 8 bucks but otherwise I think roll wise very good price point. This seems to be the issue that anything that is not rolls seems to be overpriced. Maybe not order that here. However if you are in the area and have kids which would love this (or adults) and want to have a variety of rolls check this place out.

Great place to get your sushi. A good experience place to get your sushi delivered to you by train. Sushi aboard has opened for very long time but not a lot of people know it so definitely a hidden gem. So i definitely recommend you guys coming here for the experience with sushi! Recommended!!

This place is so fun! The food comes out super fast on the mini bullet train. It's so efficient! Fish is fresh and the rolls were good. It's not amazing food compared to other sushi joints, but it's fun and I would come here again.

Excellent really. Super friendly staff, love the table side menu complete w pics, able to order from the table a huge win. Food super fast and fresh. Really enjoyed here :)

Receiving Sushi via train sounds very exciting and futuristic. At Sushi Aboard, the host shows your seat, gives you water and in the bring you bill. You are seated, there is tablet with the menu. You choose what you want, and send your orders, and maybe 5 minutes later your food arrives via mini train. The concept is interesting. 1st thing I didn't like, there is no warning or bell that your food is arriving. I would have loved to make a video. When our food arrived; unfortunately it wasn't up too the par. The rice was over cooked. The fishes were very bland despite the soy sauce and wasabi. The whole idea is cool but the quality is poor.

    Elsa C.

Friends asked to try this place out. It's a novel concept outside of Japan. Basically, you order everything from the tablet, a programmed train will stop in front of your table with your order. Most seating takes up to 4 people. The prices are a tad more expensive, and the taste is mediocre. I don't know if I'll come back again.

    Nicki W.

We were looking for food in town and this was across the street from where we were staying. We wondered in, and their last call was soon, but would still seat us. The train that delivers your food is super cute. We were really surprised at the quay of fish, some of the best we tasted. We didn't get to try any rolls, but the sashimi was all very good.

Steep as it is, I decided I wanted a "quick little sushi lunch with a view", and a quick little sushi lunch with a few is exactly what I received. Although I don't recommend it, I walked right in from the street, no reservation, and was seated at the bar (in pretty casual street clothes I may add). I enjoyed a premium sake flight (which was fine...just fine), an old fashioned served with the perfect accompanying dark chocolate, and a good amount of sushi including their signature aburi style sushi in flight form and nigiri tuna flight (bluefin, chutoro, otoro). After visiting Japan last December, I'm a bit of an otoro snob but I have to hand it to them, all three of these cuts were perfect. The accompanying rice, perfection. The quality of the fish, divine. The view was the cherry on top of this experience. This will certainly be a spot I revisit next time I'm in Vancouver.

Michelin starred quality in their service by how they explained the menu, brought out the food, came back around to refill waters. Just top notch service and elegantly so. The food was good but not of value. Their lunch set was a good introductory to what they offer. I enjoyed the food for its flavours and presentation but I thought that it was a bit overpriced. Don't get me wrong, it's beautiful, fresh and definitely elevated, but it was $50 for 10pcs of sushi, 2 appetizer sized samples of their appetizer or entree dishes, and miso soup (which we did not get and didn't realize till much later in the day). If you're wanting an upscale experience (and portion) of good quality food or wanting to impress other parties, then this is a nice spot. For regular eats, it's a bit too luxurious to be a casual thing in my opinion. The ambiance is nice and calm. They have a patio, which has a meh view overlooking the harbor, but beware of a breezy day. It will catch a bit of a wind tunnel. They have heaters and blankets but the heaters don't really reach unless you're sitting next to it.

I completely understand that the space inside is limited, and waiting can be unavoidable. What made the experience less comfortable was not the wait itself, but the way it was communicated. At the start, guests sit in silence as a black screen conceals the chefs. You see their shadows moving behind it. A bell rings, the screen lifts, and the performance begins. Dinner is a 25+ course experience priced at $325 per person. It's undeniably a splurge, but for a milestone celebration, it feels justified.
