The nicest guy and the best food. I have never been disappointed eating at Surf 2 Soul. Jordan is a magician with fried food - especially shrimp. Generous portions, perfectly cooked, and delicious flavor.

Peach cobbler, side of fried pickles, side chick (fried chicken thigh). This is authentic- I'll be back!

Best, most authentic southern food I've had since leaving Louisiana. Great service, too! This is the real deal.

Holy macaroni.... I saw the pics, not even a huge Mac & cheese gal, but had to see if the reviews were true for myself. Yuuuuupp. The chicken Mac & cheese is divine. I've not a clue why it's so good, but it really doesn't matter does it. Serious flavor in both the chicken and the cheese. I'll be hard-pressed not to stop for some every time I'm in Astoria.

BEASTED! Holy Moly, this food truck was so insanely good. The man who runs the pizza shop in the same lot recommended it as we were taking shelter from the rain in his shop. We got the Mac and Cheese and Shrimp Po Boy. Each were around $17 which I thought was a little steep but the portions we got were HUGE so definitely worth it. The guys who ran the truck were so nice. We were ravenous so I was pleasantly surprised when my meal also came with fries and extra shrimp. I do wish the batter for the shrimp has been seasoned a little stronger but aside from that this place is a great pick. The rain put a bit of a damper on things since it is outside, but we did not let that stop us from trying this spot! Love their sign too.

I feel bad doing 3 stars compared to all the great reviews but my fries were not crunchy and I thought the po boy lacked acidity. The shrimp in the grits and po boy were cooked perfectly. The grits weren't my favorite texture wise but the flavor was great. Just overall I had an okay taste adventure. I am the odd ball for the reviews but I have had much better in the south when I visit my family. Staff is friendly. It's worth trying and creating your own opinion on the food. I agree with everyone that the portions are very generous.

Apple hushpuppies with cinnamon spiced butter. Divine.

Food made with love and passion. Food recap: Which came first - savory waffle - chive and bacon. Crispy seasoned fried chicken. Pimento cheese - warm ooey gooey. Dip it in syrup - put a lil hot sauce on it. Fries were EXCELLENT. Fried pickles - savory with a hint of sweet. Paired great with the aioli. Super thin. Crispy. Stacked Mac - perfectly fried chicken, well seasoned, crispy! Mac and cheese - Creamy, smooth, great consistency, perfectly seasoned. Peach cobbler - Perfectly sweet, peaches weren't over cooked, the crumb was delicious and complimented the sauce very well. If I wasn't so full I would have gotten everything on the menu. Will return without a doubt. Chef gave off old soul vibes and truly has something special going on here! This spot is a must.

I am so happy I finally tried this place! I've been craving macaroni and cheese idont know why I never ate it growing up but I was on the hunt to find some. I ordered through Surpalicious (great service by the way) and my food came hot and fresh. Macaroni is bomb! Enough to feed 2 or 3 people for sure. The chicken is so juicy its just perfect! Now for someone who doesn't eat pickle I'm surprised my anxious self ordered fried pickle. I love shrimp but it was one or the other and I know shrimp is great so I thought I'd try the pickle. It's yummy!! If I had someone here to share with it'll be perfect side to eat with. Cajun is a little spicy for me but the aioli is delicious! Nice kick to compliment the pickles. I will be back and back again! I'm so down to try everything in the menu!

I came over here to try this place out today and it's 1:41 PM on Tuesday. Food truck is here, but not open... do they keep different hours than what is posted?

My apologies! I've been out on an extended catering gig for the past two weeks. I keep my usual hours unless im off-site. I'd love to be able to feed you possibly at a later date.

It reminded me of two Italian spots in Seattle's Pioneer Square. Very popular since most of the onsite seating were occupied (6/20/25). No surprise after glancing at their menu, easily I could gravitate towards several of their sandwiches. Lots of merch and deli items are also available to select from. I ended up ordering a half pound of proscuitto (0.52 lb for $17.67). This was carefully sliced thin, packaged, and wrapped carefully, which was duly noted and greatly appreciated. We paused at window counter seats and had to sample the purchase before departing. Absolutely delicious! Helped elevate a meal the next day too. I may have to return to indulge in one of their Italian sandwiches. Update: we did return to dine onsite at the same window counter seats (6/22/25). The Homie had the Hot Meatball ($14). Meaty with zesty sauce. I had the Salami Panini ($12), which reminded me of a fave Italian panini at Irwin's Bakery & Cafe in Seattle. Both were fantastic, hit the spot, clean plate club worthy, and definitely no takeout boxes needed! Gaetano's Market & Deli, a terrific find in Astoria!

Because we were driving through on our road trip, we decided to make a stop here for a late lunch this last Tuesday afternoon, around 2:15 pm. After we parked, we walked inside and headed towards the salad bar/ hot bar food area. After looking around (there is also a counter that you can order made to order sandwiches and burritos), I ended up deciding to purchase the following: Peanut Chicken Sesame Noodle Salad, $8.99- This was quite a massive portion so I only ended up eating about 1/3 of it and then had the rest over the next few days (I ended up mixing it with some chopped cucumbers and tomatoes that I had to make a large salad). I loved the peanut sesame dressing and noodles in this salad but wished there was more chicken. Mayak Egg Noodle Bowl, $8.99- My husband picked this salad for himself but I didn't have any. He thought it was good and appreciated something fresh, as his bowl had shredded cabbage, like my salad, and cucumbers and shredded carrots. Pumpkin Pie, $6.99- My husband saw this small pumpkin pie and decided to get it because he is such a big fan of it. I actually don't like pumpkin as much as when I was much younger. But I did like this pie and thought the flavors were well balanced, not too overly sweet. ---------------------------------------- (Total= $24.97) I really appreciated that the little dining area (there is also an outdoor dining area as well but because it had rained previously, we opted to sit inside) had plastic bowls and plates available for you to put your food in. This was helpful for me to be able to thoroughly mix my noodle salad since the dressing was mostly on the bottom. Then after I mixed it, I just put it back in the plastic container and only left about 1/3 of the salad in my bowl to eat. If I lived in this area, I would definitely be a regularly of this market (specifically for the prepared food area).

Unfortunately, one of the cookies that was ordered, nothing was listed as having chocolate in it, and my wife has issues with chocolate. It is pretty well known that in the food service industry, chocolate and peanuts are one of those things that you should never mess with when it comes to people's intake. The lady I talked to on the phone a day later mentioned that it was vegan chocolate if it made a difference, and quite frankly, I can see where at some level that might make a difference for the dairy, but in the bigger picture, it doesn't make a bit of difference as it is chocolate that is an issue not the dairy. The bottom line is it should've had a label on the shelf tag and it did not. In our opinion, it should even have a listing of the type of chocolate (dark, lite, etc ). As that could have been a hospitalizations worse. Then, at the end of the conversation, the person I talking to was dismissive and just wanted to move on -- clearly not somebody that should be answering the phones if she's not gonna fully listen (even though she said she did) to the very valid concern. She said that there's a recipe book that we could've asked about if we had any concerns. The concern was that there was no listing on the label of the cookie that was on the shelf. Something as simple as "contains chocolate" could have averted this whole situation.
