Service: waitress may be a little overloaded so, she was quite slow to show up after we were seated. She took the order with warmth and enthusiasm. She did not return to check if we needed anything after the food was served. There was an older gentleman (may be the owner) who showed us to our seats and was particularly concerned about our experience at the store. It was a nice touch. Ambiance: nice soft lighting, noise level was moderate. I consider this place good enough to eat my meal comfortably and able to enjoy the foods without too much noise.

That's just a fail, and it suggests a place that doesn't bother keeping things fresh. It kind of went downhill from there. We were looking for nice fresh fish and chips, wile we were out along the coast. We live near the coast ourselves, and are no strangers to good seafood. We decided to do the Cod and the Halibut fish and chips. While the halibut seemed fresh, the cod was waxy and looked old, and frankly i found it somehow mildly nauseating. I couldn't bring myself to teat it. The batter was crsipy, but lacked seasoning and tasted really flat (cardboard?). Aside from that, the coleslaw seemed pretty old soggy. Gross. Not impressed at all - some of the worst fish and chips I have ever had. Some people may like this kind of food - but i will actively avoid this place the next time in Astoria. The Willapa Bay oysters were served with a tangy mignonette, which was pretty darn good. I can say the lobster roll was good too, as they tasted crunchy and creamy. All in all, great seafood! My main critique is that portions were considerably small for the amount I paid for the food. I left satisfied but not full, so I would not come here if you're craving something more satiating. The restaurant is formatted to be more of a sports bar, good for socialization, drinking and having small bites.

I consider myself a fish and chips connoisseur and these were some of the best I've had. The halibut was flaky and perfectly cooked. The batter was light and flavorful and properly greasy. The French fries were also incredible--crispy and perfect. Both the fish and the chips were steaming hot when they were delivered to our table. The servings were generous. The side of coleslaw was fresh and tasty. The meals were not inexpensive, but both of us were glad we sprang for these. I think Ship Out will be on regular rotation when we go to the Oregon Coast!
