Astoria Co+op, which is across the street from a Shell Gas Station, is a market that has a little salad bar and deli that also sells prepared meals and even has a little dining area for you to eat your food. Because we were driving through on our road trip, we decided to make a stop here for a late lunch this last Tuesday afternoon, around 2:15 pm. After we parked, we walked inside and headed towards the salad bar/ hot bar food area. After looking around (there is also a counter that you can order made to order sandwiches and burritos), I ended up deciding to purchase the following: Peanut Chicken Sesame Noodle Salad, $8.99- This was quite a massive portion so I only ended up eating about 1/3 of it and then had the rest over the next few days (I ended up mixing it with some chopped cucumbers and tomatoes that I had to make a large salad). I loved the peanut sesame dressing and noodles in this salad but wished there was more chicken. Mayak Egg Noodle Bowl, $8.99- My husband picked this salad for himself but I didn't have any. He thought it was good and appreciated something fresh, as his bowl had shredded cabbage, like my salad, and cucumbers and shredded carrots. Pumpkin Pie, $6.99- My husband saw this small pumpkin pie and decided to get it because he is such a big fan of it. I actually don't like pumpkin as much as when I was much younger. But I did like this pie and thought the flavors were well balanced, not too overly sweet. ---------------------------------------- (Total= $24.97) I really appreciated that the little dining area (there is also an outdoor dining area as well but because it had rained previously, we opted to sit inside) had plastic bowls and plates available for you to put your food in. This was helpful for me to be able to thoroughly mix my noodle salad since the dressing was mostly on the bottom. Then after I mixed it, I just put it back in the plastic container and only left about 1/3 of the salad in my bowl to eat. If I lived in this area, I would definitely be a regularly of this market (specifically for the prepared food area). read more

Staff were very engaging and friendly. Salad bar/deli/prepared foods clean and well organized. Rotisserie chickens look delicious. Lots of different items that are not found in national chains. HOWEVER, I know the items are organic/local but we thought the prices were extremely high. Did not make a purchase. read more

I didn't even know Astoria had a Co+op but we spotted it when we were on one side of town, going to the other to another place we wanted to stop at. It wasn't a whole lot of pondering that this is going to be another stop before heading home. We did make it here towards the end of our visit and went to their food bar and got some fantastic Kahlua Pork along with some rice and macaroni and cheese. Also I had a piece of chicken. This was our supper and it was a really good one! You have the option of eating your food there so that is what we did. We also bought some sandwiches in containers to take home to have for lunch the next day. I had a turkey sandwich with pickled onion that was wonderful. Another great Co+op out here in the Pacific Northwest and one I highly recommend as our food was fresh, very flavorful, well made and you can tell quality ingredients were involved! read more

Most natural soap I've ever seen in any grocery store - it's hypoallergenic and I can't thank them enough for that! The prepared food is natural and organic. I've never seen organic rotisserie chicken anywhere but they have it. Also the burrito bowl is huge - look at the weight, and it's only 10 bucks in 2025. We came for frozen local ch chip cookie dough bc my hubby was having a craving for a good cookie, recent purchase was disappointing, and I saw dough advertised when I googled for CCCS "open now" at 6pm. I was impressed at the size of this co-op, the bulk foods, fresh produce, ready to eat, frozen foods, and home and beauty, too. As for actually shopping here, I have to say most of what I saw was really expensive! (Example: a mini/personal-sized watermelon was $10.50, and bulk brown rice is $3.50/pound, and bulk chocolate covered dried cherries were $30/lb, and the cookie dough was $16/ led (which seemed reasonable compared to baked ones for $3-$5)! There were some "bargains" we impulse purchases that jumped in our cart like large bulk dried mango slices were $10/lb and my fav La Croix pear-peach variety (which is hard to find and may be seasonal) was $5.50 for a 12 pack. Co/op members get 10% discount. I have no comparison with what local supermarkets carry or their prices, but the products here were very nice and the prices seemed very high to me. read more

I stopped here twice to get some prepackaged foods and had two completely different experiences. The first time I got the garbanzo tabouleh in the morning to eat as part of my eventual dinner on the beach that evening. When evening came and I opened it up, absolutely delicious!! Even though it was packed 3 days prior(bought it Sept 4th), it was still fresh and maintained its flavor and I ended up gobbling up the entire thing. I highly highly recommend giving that a try if you're browsing their cold food section! The following day I stopped in again for a quick lunch and settled with the szechuan tofu but I was incredibly disappointed with what I got once I began eating it. This was packed 2 days prior to being bought, but man, the tofu felt stale and the szechuan flavor basically didn't even exist. They could have marketed it as plain tofu and I would have believed them. I had a random pack of Tabasco sauce in the car and I squeezed that on the tofu and mixed it up and that definitely helped give it SOME sort of flavor. But I can't get over how bland it originally was coupled with the how hard it was. I've eaten plenty of tofu from soft to medium to firm and this firm simply tasted like it was no longer fresh. I found myself at the Cedar Hills New Seasons the following day and got their tofu and THAT is how tofu should taste. Big pieces, fully saturated in a sauce, soft with that subtle firmness. I think this co op should reconsider how they prepare and sell their tofu. If anything, just give it more sauce! Overall I give this place a 3.5/5. The garbanzo tabouleh was an easy 5/5 but their tofu was so lackluster it brings down the entire experience for me. read more

Such a great little grocery store. They have everything I like and I love that the parking lot is easy to maneuver. Everyone was super friendly and helped me find what I was looking for. The cold case was also a nice surprise. They have so much that's prepared to take and eat that I didn't really need to buy anything to make myself, it was all done for me. I love my trips to the Astoria Co-op. I enjoy creating new recipes every week and the Co-op tends to carry that odd or fancy ingredient I might need. The produce section is a wonderland of vibrant selections. I always look forward to finding something new and interesting to try on the shelves - a new pair of cozy socks, a unique herb or spice, a fun cheese or two I've wanted to cook with (thanks for getting paneer!), and a lovely wine selection (you can't go wrong). The stock of items is so thoughtful, the store is immaculate and bright, and the employees are kind and friendly. If you're traveling this summer, you can pick up a delicious ready-made lunch, firewood, warm socks or leggings, sunscreens and natural bug sprays, items for your dog or cat, and even a few sunhats! Check your tare weights regularly! I was overcharged for some bulk items. The plastic container I used (your container) should have been .04 and I was tare'd .03 on all 3 items. In deli the large box I was tare'd .09 (your large box) and it should have probably been .08 (undercharge). Also bathrooms were dirty looking ... grime on inside of doors. I like to see accuracy, clean and tidy when I shop in a grocery store. read more

Finally dropped in here 11/19/21 after following on Inst for a year... This is a really great little co-op; there is a very active deli with lots of fresh, healthy hot and cold items, either prepared fresh or grab-n-go. Produce looked fantastic, with lots of interesting items you wont find elsewhere at the corporate supermarkets. Loved the display of fresh dark, greens like kale and chard. Produce bags are either paper or 'compostible' plastic-like bags, which I'm uncertain about so i opted for paper. Some items prepackaged in plastic - dont like that, but otherwise an outstanding green effort here. I had hoped they'd have an expansive asian section (there are NO asian grocers in the area), but alas, its smaller than anything i've seen here in NW OR. Lots of local items here, too. Reasonable prices for quality. Employees were 'friendlier than friendly', and helpful. COVID protocols were fantastic. Getting in/out a little tricky to the uninitiated - no access from the main road. Parking lot tiny and cramped. Very much recommend. read more

This place is beautiful, the employees are well informed, and you can tell they really believe in the product and this community! I'm not a local...yet...I hope to be one day! I LOVE that they have Tails & Trotters Pork! Seriously, the best pork I've ever tasted! The flavor is in the fat, do not fear the fat! A quick sear, toss it on top of a skillet full of raw onions, and finish it in a low oven to render the fat over the slowly roasting onions (it helps if you cut the fat into 1/2" strips while leaving it attached to the loin)...BEST ONIONS IN THE WORLD! Just a touch of salt is the only seasoning you need (check Pat's Pantry in downtown Astoria for great flavored salts)...served alongside salted and olive oil tossed micro sprout greens...DELISH! By far my favorite grocery store North of Tillamook. The produce always looks fresh and is pretty much all organic and locally sourced. The meat section is better than any ive ever seen, and I just moved to ths area from Los Angeles. The meat is all organic or grass fed and locally sourced and lots of variety. They have a pretty good membership program as well. read more

Wonderful grocery option in Astoria. We stopped by on our way home to Seattle from the coast for some lunch and snacks. They had a ton of gluten free options and we ended up getting a premade GF veggie sandwich, GF clam chowder and chicken vegetable soup, a GF pork burrito bowl and some GF cookies. The burrito bowl was delicious with flavored pork, rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream and pickled onions. It made for the perfect light lunch. The soups were flavorful and not over seasoned which I appreciate. The GF veggie sandwich was light but still filling. Service was quick and friendly. The store itself is bright, well laid out and immaculate. Highly recommend stopping her for a quick bite especially if you have any dietary restrictions such as being gluten free or vegan. read more

The staff can answer questions about what the name of the chemical on the back of the health and beauty aid product is, without wading through Google for a half-hour like I might. Really appreciate you all very much. Get your brand name Coke or Pepsi, your hand sanitizer, your baking soda and lemon juice, first aid kit, isopropyl alcohol, your hydrogen peroxide, your gallon jugs of distilled water and your Pepsodent athlete's foot relief cream (why this works I'm not sure) at Safeway and grab a cup of Starbucks in the morning. This Coop has vastly improved over the years. It's a relatively small Coop with not as much selection as some others, but their bulk department has a nice selection of items with good prices. The staff is very helpful. Their house roasted chicken is very good, one of the better items from their kitchen, their soups can be hit or miss. read more

This review is based strictly on the grab-and-go options. Several of us had burritos, and they were just average. Pretty underwhelming. My dining companion who ordered a soup was pleased with the taste. The setting itself is certainly cute, and we appreciated being able to get some fresh fruit to go along with our grab-and-go items. read more
