Our hotel desk person recommended this place and glad she did. I ordered the blackened salmon with garlic mashed potatoes. The salmon was fantastic, mashed potatoes were pretty thick and did not really have a lot of garlic flavor but still edible. Also ordered the burnt steak ends. The Cajun seasoning was great and the steak was tender. Forgot to get a picture of the Caesar salad but it was large and full of flavor. Forgot to get desert we also shared the hot fudge brownie which was also really good. Now to the staff. They were very friendly and attentive. And the ambiance was very nice. Took a party of 10, including kids, on a weeknight. Calamari appetizer was very good. Those who had steaks were very happy, crab mac&cheese was amazing, fish n chips cooked just right and burgers got great reviews. All around very good dinner. We took the desserts to go. Have to say that this is where they faltered. Swedish cream was just ok and the bourbon pecan cheesecake was way overcooked. The cheesecake texture was mealy and the crust was burnt. We were on a weekend trip to Astoria and fell in love with this restaurant! We didn't know where to go but this had good reviews and was a nice walk from our hotel. Best decision ever. It was so good we went back both nights. First night we got the artichoke hearts, jambalaya and grilled Salmon. It was the best Salmon I think I have ever had. Seasoned perfectly and cooked amazing. The Jambalaya did not skimp on the seafood and was super delicious. The next night we did the two totally different meals and once again was in awh. We had the same waiter both nights who recognized us. He was super friendly, helped us make good choices for food, was quick and overall very kind. We didn't have reservations but were able to get seated in the bar. The halibut in the fish and chips was amazing. The breading was light, stuck to the fish amazingly and was moist without bring watery, amazing job! The steak fries were great. The crab cakes were excellent too. We got a slice of the key line pie to go, it was a sketchy color of green and not very good. They didn't have a great wine selection by the glass. Our server was the bartender and he was attentive, friendly, and did a fantastic job. The kitchen had shorted my order by one piece of fish and he caught it as he was setting it down and they brought me out 2 more pieces of halibut. Way to be attentive and give extra to fix it. Overall, the experience was good but it's the only place I've ever sent a meal back. The crawfish ettufe (sp?) was so bad my coworker and I couldn't eat it. The service staff was great and really wanted to give us a much better experience than the food offered, and the ambiance was pretty nice. We have been coming to the Silver Salmon since it first opened in 2001. Immediately fell in love with his award winning clam chowder. When we came for dinner on 11/20/2025 we were told the owner had sold about 3 years ago but that the chowder recipe hadn't changed. IT HAS CHANGED; Isn't not the same, so we were disappointed. Classic food, with classic service, in a classic setting. This place is everything I hoped it would be. Our server had been working there for over 20 years. She shared a wonderful story about the restaurant's history and had deep familiarity with everything on the menu. My fiancée and I came here for lunch. We enjoyed a local riesling and ordered shrimp cocktail, clam chowder, and oyster stew (the daily special). We would give all three of those dishes a near-perfect score. Dining ambiance is old school with the dimly lit, picture lined narrow room, stamped tin ceilings and the feel of a different era, a time when the building was young. My wife's halibut fish & chips were perfect and the serving adequate when paired with the clam chowder. A fantastic place to get extraordinary seafood in the Astoria area. They have solid clam chowder that I will happily endorse several times over. I highly, highly recommend their cheese bread. We came into enjoy their happy hour as a party of 2 on Saturday at 5:30. We were seated right away, and I started with a classic margarita, which was nice-they make great drinks and the bar was chill! We ordered 4 items on the happy hour menu: Caesar salad: their dressing on the Caesar salad was very good, and complimented all of our food choices. Smoked salmon sliders: these were amazing-the salmon was fresh and we loved the bread it came on. The chili aioli these came on made these delectable. This was the most unique item on their happy hour menu and we loved it. Calamari Fritti-we are always up for a calamari! These were great. Clam chowder-this was my favorite thing we ordered. This chowder was a hit, and I didn't want to share. They claim this is an award winning chowder on their menu, and it is easy to see why. Their food and service here is solid. We left feeling refreshed and not too full. We love their bar, and they blew us away with their happy hour. We would love to come back and do a more formal dinner next time. read more

We stopped in and went to rough the bar/lounge entrance on accident and the bartender was super cool and let us know we could sit in there or go next door for the restaurant-which we opted to do. We ordered a burger and clam chowder to share. The clam chowder was delicious-full of clams and flavor. The burger was raw in the middle. They took it back and then cooked another burger that was squished flat and dry and we just had to eat it with our then cold fries. I get kitchen mistakes happen but it would be nice to have it all fresh at same time. We then ordered cheesecake and were brought the bill before the dessert came and eventually I had to advise we were still waiting on dessert long after I paid and was told "I know." When it was brought-we ended up not eating it as the crust was burnt and the texture very strange, not the best dining experience (also not the worst though) and customer service could use some improvement. read more

Lunch for 3 here yesterday. One of the better meals we've had in the last week. Setting is very nice, service was great. I started with a cup of the clam chowder - excellent, but very rich and creamy, a cup was plenty for me. The halibut fish and chips were great, their fries are cut very thin, a little like McDonalds. The cole slaw is very vinegary, don't order it if you don't like a strong acidity. My wife had the coconut prawns which she really enjoyed, and our friend had the shrimp cocktail appetizer which looked wonderful - it was just enough for lunch for her. Overall, a great experience. This has always been one of my favorite restaurants in Astoria. A special occasion place for dinner but an affordable place for lunch. Well, they no longer have a lunch menu, their lunch menu is their dinner menu. I arrived with a friend we got seated promptly and noticed that there were crumbs on the table. No big deal, I ignored it. My meal was OK not great for the price. My friend seemed pleased with her meal. In the past the waiters have always been exceptional. I would rate ours a two out of five. I didn't realize till after I paid the bill with a card that there was a 2.5% credit card processing fee. Maybe that's standard now but I seldom see that anywhere. I would go there again for dinner, but definitely not for lunch. For the price I would've liked a better experience. read more

I wanted to go out for dinner to celebrate our anniversary (October 30, 2020). Their mention of prime rib special was what really caught my eye, especially on a Friday evening. I made a reservation through their website earlier that week and received an email confirmation the day before (29th). This stressed me out a bit because an actual person had to respond back to my email confirming my reservation. Usually, other restaurants and dining apps confirm reservations spontaneously. If their system is still like this, I recommend making your reservations well in advance. Located on one of the main roads in downtown Astoria, it's majority street parking. Parking can sometimes be difficult to find but we got lucky a block before the restaurant. Upon checking in with the hostess, and having my email confirmation up on my phone. It took her a while to seat us, I'm not sure if our reservation was written down, but we were eventually seated. We started with the Pacific Rim Cheese Bread and I had originally planned on getting their Filet Mignon but once our waiter mentioned the special (prime rib) as they were taking our order... I CAVED. Did I regret it? Pf, no. Though nothing really stood out to me. But if we were to eat here again, I would like to try one of their seafood dishes. read more

Stopped here on our way to our hotel in Cannon Beach. Greeted at the door and seated immediately. Host brought out water. Server came to tell us about the specials and take drink/app order within 3-4 minutes. Princess margarita was delicious with lots of citrusy flavor and a heavy pour. My partner got a local IPA and which he enjoyed. We shared the special, blackened salmon Mac n cheese and the large blackened steak Caesar. The Mac n cheese was phenomenal!! The Steak Caesar was perfectly cooked, med rare, and extremely flavorful. 10/10 would recommend. Amazing date night atmosphere as well. read more

I am SO GLAD that we stopped here for Sundays ALL DAY Happy Hour *Whoot Woot* When I checked "seafood fresh local open " this placed popped up. They are adhering to all covid precautions: limit capacity, masks until seated, social distancing, condiments individually cups upon request. I would STRONGLY Recommend making a reservation; I saw more than a few groups turned away (again, limited seating). We ordered from The Happy Hour Menu and I was pleasantly surprised. The 4 fresh oysters in a shot glass containing a very refreshing cocktail sauce (housemate maybe?) for $7 (I would order again). Fried calamari for $9. It was way over fried and quite chewy, but I can tell that if was fried for less time, this would be my go to snack. I also ordered the Caesar salad for $5. The Romain was crispy, the dressing was not over powering and the fresh saved parmesan was a nice touch. I would definitely order this again. I noticed that the salad entrees during dinner time are MASSIVE and most definitely enough for 2 people or 1 with a definite to go box. The crispy chicken sandwich during happy hour for $7 was better than I expected. The portion was lighter than a regular sandwich (as expected for happy hour deal), but plenty of you order this an another item from the menu. My go to is for anything on Tap, preferably an IPA. Our server (Donald), seemed confident in suggesting the Buoy Brewing IPA. He was right! I was very happy with a pint of this deliciousness. Not as heavy as some IPAs. Donald also mentioned that this is a LOCAL BREWERY and has a tasting room across town *YAY* Overall a good value considering the Quality of the food, hearty portions and Excellent Table service by Donald.
