We went for halibut fish & chips but got the lunch special: two halibut fish tacos for $22.00 -- an amazing bargain. The halibut was fresh, the beer batter perfect, and the tacos came on large flour shells with melted cheese on the bottom. We had managed to eat seafood at every meal and when I saw that T Paul's Supper Club had a Louie salad on the menu (I'm a sucker for a good Louie) we were in! I'm not totally sure of the vibe they're going for and, to be fair I've only been inside one supper club and it was in Las Vegas, so maybe not a fair comparison. We accidentally walked into the bar section, which seemed like a tiki bar. We were sat in the restaurant, which was decorated with an amateurish mish mosh of seemingly random items. I didn't see a stage, but maybe there was a place for a performer. We were there for lunch. The many is extensive, but also don't seem special. Lots of tiki type drinks and many menu items you'd expect. We ordered the calamari to share, on the recommendation of the server. It was pretty good. We also ordered the Louie Louie to share, which actually isn't on the lunch menu but they kindly agreed to make it for us. I should have been alerted when the server asked what kind of dressing we wanted. She listed several, not including thousand island. I responded, "I think a Louie traditionally has thousand island, do you have that?" She did. The salad had many of the elements, most importantly a good sized amount of lump crab meat. That part was good! The other elements were meh. I would have liked avocado. And I think if you're doing a $30 Louie, you need a special dressing. There were maybe 8 bacon bits. Just not a flavorful Louie. Maybe they do other things well, but I won't be back.

We were seated at a window table, which was great. We ordered a couple drinks and a couple appetizers. The crab dip and calamari were amazing. Probably the best crab dip I've ever had. For main courses, I ordered the seared scallops and added prawns to the dish as well as a side of their chowder. So good. Melt in your mouth scallops. The chowder was some of the best I've had. My wife ordered pasta Alfredo with shrimp. She said it was amazing as well. And my daughter ordered the Boullabaisse. I've never heard of it but it's a seafood bowl that is delicious and has many seafoods inside.. almost like a soup. She loved it. Dessert was a chocolate torte and a cheesecake slice. Again, amazing. This is a must go to restaurant if you want upscale in Astoria, Oregon. It is well worth the price. And you cannot beat the atmosphere and service. It is exceptional.

We were surprised that we couldn't find more seafood restaurants for being on the coast.

Cool little pub /restaurant near Pier One in Astoria, OR. Upon return from a bike packing trip,…read morehit Portway Tavern for lunch before heading out of town. Ambience - small tavern with seaside vibe with both indoor bar and table seating as well as some limited outdoor table seating. As a party of one, I elected to sit indoors at the end of the bar. As it's located on HWY30 at Portway, I imagine sitting outside could be a little noisy at times. Service - prompt and very friendly. Seemed like the sole bartender was the sole waitress as well...but she was very attentive nonetheless equally dividing her attention to a full house of customers! There appeared to be 1-2 short order cooks in the back...so small crew to handle the lunch crowd. Food - clam chowder, fish and chips, and a cider...a reoccurring meal of mine when traveling through the PNW and kinda how I like to judge one place from another. Thick NE-style clam chowder loaded with clams! Solid contender and some of the better chowder I've had as of late. The F&Cs were 3, 2-3oz sized halibut pieces fried golden brown with a huge side of string fries...also very crispy! With some lemon and malt vinegar on the fish and a refreshing cider on tap, it all went down quite well...yum! Price was reasonable, although maybe a little pricy given this was the industrial side of the riverwalk. Nonetheless, the food/drink, service, and ambience were all good! Felt his was more of a local hangout for those working at the marina as compared to, say... Astoria Brewing... a definite touristy alternative that's larger, busier, and smack dab on the riverwalk. Both are solid places offering different vibes. Definitely will be back here as well! Cheers!

It's a classic clam chowder, but incredibly flavorful, rich, and creamy. It has big chunks of clam, bacon, and some potato, but unlike many chowders, the clam-to-filler ratio is definitely heavy on the clam. It is simply outstanding. The staff are every bit as impressive as the food. I drove an hour back tonight specifically for their chowder and planned to try the fish and chips as well, only to discover that the power was out and wasn't expected to return until much later. I was obviously disappointed and mentioned how far I had driven. The staff were so kind that they gave me a bowl of chowder to take home and heat up later--on the house! That level of kindness and customer service is rare. We need more restaurants like Portway Tavern. Amazing chowder, wonderful people, and a place I will happily keep coming back to! They have a customer for life!

Positives: -their prices were very good and reasonable. -you get a lot of food, great bang for your buck. It was much appreciated especially coming from California where everything still costs an arm and a leg. It's so bad in California that I would have to share with my wife when we go out to try and save money. Sure we can stay home, but we're on vacation and I want to give her a good time. In California I would have to decide between filling up my tank or going out to eat ‍ -we got the BBQ mix plate which had short ribs, teriyaki chicken, and bbq beef. Everything tasted great, I loved how the chicken wasn't too sweet. My wife loved the galbi, that's saying a lot because she's very picky with her galbi. It was just the right amount of savory and had just the right amount of fat. We also got the poke bowl, the fish wasn't too sweet very good and tasted fresh. -service was quick and friendly Ambiance: Note that this is a food truck though they gave a small covered area for rainy days and if you want to eat your food right away. It's that food. Overall 5/5 We didn't expect to find such good Hawaiian food in Astoria, can't wait to come back.

It's on property at a Shell gas station with a convenience store and Growler Guys branch. There is enough strategic parking spots for quick pick up and go. The ambiance of this spot is that there is ample outdoor seating for those brave enough to handle the weather, with most of them covered for rain protection. The service was authentic Hawaiian Style customer service. It always starts off " Whoa, what part you from"... And the conversation could go on for hours without even talking about food. Owner is from Wahiawa (Island of Oahu), his cousin helping him cook is from Waiahole (Oahu) and the daughter of the owner was taking the orders up front. The first test of any Hawaiian Comfort Food eatery is the weight of the take out container. If you need two hands to carry the package, then your in for a treat. The BBQ mix plate was on-point. The Teri-Beef had the right amount of sweetness and juicyness making it a must try for any first timer trying Hawaiian comfort food or former Kamaaina, craving for Island grinds. When people travel along the Oregon Coast, Fish & Chips or seafood is always on top of the eating bucket list. However, you may want to add Tuimato's to that bucket list, for belly satisfaction and enjoying a little bit of Hawaiian Style hospitality.
