They use albacore tuna, instead of the typical cod or haddock, which gives the fish a solid bite that doesn't flake or fall apart. They're more like fish nuggets but damn, they are DELICIOUS. They also have a good choice of other items on the menu Once I put in my order, the food comes quickly. The clam chowder was amazing. The smokiness of the clams Comes over into the soup. It was a smoky flavor, but it did not overwhelm the soup. It complimented it very well. There was a very generous portion of the clams and other ingredients. Dear Lord, I couldn't believe the size of that platter of fish and chips. Two giant pieces of rockfish, a very generous portion of fries, and a coleslaw. You also get ketchup for your fries, and a very delicious tartar sauce. I liked the coleslaw. It was not overdressed, and had just a little bit of a peppery bite. The pepper did not overwhelm the coleslaw. The fish was not overly battered, and not greasy at all. The fish was flaky and rich. The fries had just a littlle bit of a crisp on the outside, and were perfectly tender on the inside. The entire meal was amazing. It was so big, I brought one of the pieces of rockfish and about half of my fries back to my motel for breakfast the next morning. It heated up perfectly in the microwave and was just as good the following morning. For all I got, the price was extremely reasonable, and they also do a military/veterans discount. We happily dug in and it tasted pretty good at first. The batter was a little too salty but still edible. But then the strangest thing happened. At the exact same time, the two of us came to a really strong fishy-tasting part of our fillets. The first half had tasted fine but then we came to the fishy part. It really put me off and I just couldn't eat the rest. I've never had fish like that anywhere, and I order fish & chips every chance I get. Later I looked up fishy-tasting rockfish and what I read said that's an indication of spoiling fish. Gross. I was all ready to give them 5 stars till this happened.
