I wish I had a credit card with no limit on it for Sur La Table (and by credit card I mean gift card). To be honest, a lot of the stuff in the store is slightly overpriced, but you can find some really unique items in here, and it's worth every penny. For example, I get my truffle infused honey here, and it's just delicious. They have everything under the sun that you could ever need for your kitchen or entertaining: aprons, tools, pots/pans, toppings, ingredients, dinnerware, olive oil, coffee machines, even cooking classes! read more

Sur la table was a great date night! The chef was very knowledgeable and there was plenty of hands on opportunities. It's a small enough class and we had the pleasure of sharing the experience with another lovely couple. I recommend this for anyone learning how to cook! Only downside, I would have enjoyed a nice glass of wine with dinner, but it wasn't available and we weren't allowed to bring our own. Minor negative based on the overall experience. read more

I have been in this store numerous times, taken cooking classes and picked up online purchases there. Since I'm just down the street it's very convenient. I will NEVER step foot in there again after my interaction with Jim today. I was lucky enough to get Sue, the Manager, on my first call to have her hold something for me. When I realized I didn't need it, I called back and Jim answered. He was so rude to me and even hung up. I was trying to help! Other stores to patronize. read more

Love this store. I went in super close to closing and they were as nice as can be. Crystal offered me a coffee while I looked around even though they were closing in less than 10 minutes. She also offered to demonstrate some appliances I was eyeing. The customer service was excellent, the store was clean and organized. I wish I had money and time to spend in the store. One of my favorites. I will definitely be going back as soon as I save a little money to buy more fun stuff! read more

I recently purchased a stoneware casserole dish ($40) for a potluck at our church. When I got home I realized there was a small chip on one of the handles. I brought the casserole dish back to Sur La Table a few days later only to find that the casserole dish I purchased was now sold out! Sarah (I think that was her name) offered to order me another online but it wouldn't arrive until after the potluck. She was so sweet and heartfelt. She asked me what I was making (Chicken Enchiladas) and showed me a variety of other casserole options. I ended up opting for the Emile Henry Casserole Dish ($70) which was a bit more expensive than the original but it came in this beautiful red color and felt more durable than the first. read more

Excellent staff, everyone I meet is passionate about cooking. They do great sales, have deep inventory and offer great services like knife sharpening if you dont do your own, cooking classes, etc, etc. I shop here all the time and tom in knives is great!! The manager krystal is very helpful, had to exchange something and it was a diffuucult transaction, they were more than happy to help and didnt bat and eye. Highly suggest you try them out, they have every quality kitchen gadget you could want. regardless of what it is, be it a robust cleaver for splitting deer ribs while your out in the field or a spritz cookie gun. read more

Sur la Table is amazing! Great products for any kitchen enthusiast, whether amateur or experienced. Some of their stuff can be a little gimicky or super expensive, but overall they have a great selection and a great atmosphere. There's nothing like walking into this store during the holiday season when the Forum is decorated and the place smells like spice. read more

Have to say, I thoroughly enjoy shopping at Sur la Table. They almost always have what I need (and ALWAYS have what I didnt know I needed but really do!) and the store is CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN. In a store that sells so many items that could get dusty, it's always CLEAN! Love that. The personnel are friendly and helpful, and always courteous. I've never encountered a sourpuss there! And the cooking classes I've attended -- very good. I buy Sur la Table's OLIVE OIL and highly recommend it. And watch for their sales! There's always something on sale, and you can't beat the products on hand. Oh, and if you like aprons like I do --- excellent selection, all darling. Just ask my husband .... probably half of my apron collection is from SLT! read more

I will never ho back to this store. Katie an employee there is so rude it is beyond comprehension. it all happened at the coffee bar. I asked about a specific machine and she snapped that it was an espresso and that everyone knew that. Well Katie, I didn't know that. she was loud and bothersome so i cancelled my espresso sample. She was rude as hell to the guy after me. He just walked out. She complained about how all the machines were filthy and that the employees there basically didn't do their jobs keeping them clean and now she was going to have to do it. I have never had anyone there be rude, ever. I bought the electric skillet I went in there for at Bed Bath and Beyond. read more

I love this store for their broad selection of kitchen items you can't find anywhere else! However, the last 2 times I went in there I encountered one of the rudest employees I've ever dealt with. The first time she was telling a male customer that "it was not her problem" that he couldn't find his receipt. It was abrupt and really bizarre. Even the employee next to her looked startled. The next time I went in the same woman happened to check me out and she blamed me for not telling her the exact amount that was left on my gift card. I had no idea, I just gave a guess and didn't know I would be reprimanded for it, isn't that her job? She is hostile and completely inappropriate. I have no clue what her name is but it's really unfortunate that they continue to let her treat customers that way. She was not wearing a name tag but is a shorter middle-eastern woman with a slight accent. I'll look on my receipt for a name. Beware! read more

The middle of Christmas Season and they have one person at the checkout. There are people backed up and nobody helping out. Absolutely ridiculous. I find the staff uneducated on the products and pricing too high compared to other kitchen stores. read more

I just was looking for a convenient place where I coculd do a team building event. This place was reccommended to my company. We were treated very unprofessional. The person hosting the event was in such a hurry always smiling and looking at his watch. I felt like I was just money to hiss place. And to top it off the price was extremely exspensive. I have found since this outfits are in Lajolla or Carlsbad the price is all the people care about. I also do not recommend LaJollaCooks4U. An arm and a leg just to have a ocean view while you have a amaateur try and teach a very skilled art to you. I much rather have a person that has 20 to 25 years experience teach me how to cook. This store is awesome. Sur La Table is a one stop shop for all the cooking you never think you'd get into. I was able to purchase a crepe set here, sushi supplies, and most recently cacao powder, nibs, and white chocolate to make French truffles. I knocked out a lot of Christmas shopping here. Some of the pricing on some of their stuff is spot on, other items are through the roof. The service is great, because most of the time this place is dead. I really like Sur La Table and would only take off 1 star because of their pricing. If they were more consistent on their pricing I would buy more stuff here and probably even take some of their classes. I can't justify $69 per person for a 1 day cooking class when All Recipes.com is dropping great recipes for free. I would rather take $69 to a steakhouse and not cook. Also, I didn't know you could charge that much for a pan. Did some of their pans belong to Michael Jackson or something?!? Sur La Table is a great spot to shop. You can use common sense on what to buy and what not to buy. And there are still some items you can get here for a reasonable price (crepe mix, cacao nibs, etc). read more

I was in 2 days ago and found the service was so professional, it was / is the Nordstoms of kitchen ware! Everybody goes out of their way to help. I was looking in the coffee area and this lady named Judy was great. First she asked if I would like a coffee, espresso or capaccino so I chose an espresso, which also was great. Then she started the sales pitch and I thought oh boy here we go, but it wasn't at all, it was more educational which was so nice. She spent approx 20 -30 minutes with me then left me alone to decide. At that point I decided on an Nespresso with creamer.
