I've been coming to Coast Highway Trading Co. for the past couple of years, and it's easily one of my favorite places to shop in the area. A couple of my friends work here, so I've gotten to see firsthand how much care goes into making the store such a great experience. One of the things I appreciate most is how well organized everything is. It makes browsing really enjoyable instead of overwhelming. They have an amazing selection of souvenirs, and I always end up finding something unique that I wouldn't see anywhere else. I especially love their sterling silver turquoise jewelry. It's beautiful, high quality, and feels really special. Their California and San Diego customized items are also a standout and make perfect gifts, whether you're shopping for someone visiting or sending something out of state. I also want to give a special shoutout to Annaliese, who consistently goes above and beyond. She's always friendly, helpful, and genuinely makes the shopping experience even better. They have more than just souvenirs! Its got surfer vibes like sweatshirts, loose pants, etc but they have a ton of jewelry. I got a beautiful kyanite necklace. I would say that some of the prices are reasonable and some are due to the area. Its a very fun store! The staff is veryyyy welcoming and helpful. Yes, they have ALL the souvenirs - stickers, tile coasters, etc, but so much more including apparel, shoes, and a great selection of jewelry! I was happy to find one of my favorite sellers in Pacific Beach, but In the North County! I was able to find a bunch of great gifts for my family and friends. Jewelry, hats, clothing, and other gifts made a great selection. The staff helped me find the right gift for my Aunt, who is hard to buy for. I visited while I was at the Encinitas street fair, and there are lots of great places nearby to grab a bite to eat. I brought my friend, and she had a great time looking around! I've always loved this place. They have great gifts and cute tissue and ribbon to finish off the gift. I had 2 birthdays to shop for. The girl helping me knew I was shopping for friends. I spent $160 and she put all the items in 1 bag and added a few smaller bags for me to fill. It wasn't busy so that's no excuse. She didn't offer to black out the prices or to wrap them even though they have a fully stocked wrapping station!!! When I asked her for tissue paper she said it would cost me $1..?? Very lame... Plenty of other places to buy gifts in the future! read more

Worst online service! I ordered a matted watercolor. I specifically asked if it was a print or an original, I was told it was a watercolor so I purchased it for a christmas gift. I kept waiting for an email advising me it had shipped. Nothing! I sent an email inquiring. No response! another email, No response. I called several times. Always busy, when I finally did get thru they said they were out of stock! How are you out of stock on an original painting??? These people don't deserve your business. They are very clearly paranoid about thieves. My son was holding one of the small toys and decided to put it back bc he didn't seem that interested in it. The owner thought I stole it and ask where I put it back so she could sanitize it and claimed my son had it in his mouth the whole time. He did not. The owner is paranoid and the customers cannot enjoy their shopping time in this store. She was rude and yelling at the workers that they must be separate and watching the front customers too. I get it there are thieves however, not EVERYONE is one and you need to treat your customers better. I'm honestly surprised you even do any business with how rude you are! read more

Worst experience!!!! Would give zero stars. We travel to the area 3-4 times a year. We love the Carlsbad and Encinitas area. Went into the shop and I received an emergency call from a renter that I had to take. I tried on a felt hat while one the phone and was going to buy it. My attention was on the caller and my autistic son and family who was with me. My autistic son picked up a felt hat he wanted and I was going to buy that for him as well. It was too small. I asked the person working there if she had another larger one and she said where did he get it? Everything I have Is out. I said I don't know where he got it from. They had literally hundreds of hats all in an area. I found the hat on my own and went to buy the 2 hats. The lady said it's final sale, I said that's ok we aren't from the area and won't be returning it. My son loved it. She begun to ring me, I walked 2 steps away picked up a pair of pants I wanted and put them at the wrap to buy it too. In that time she took another customer in front of me. I then waited to be wrung up again and she again said do you want to try them (pants) on, it's final sale. I said no. She said well most people want to try them on, and went on to say how I was rude to her by not answering her when she greeted me??? Really ???? if you were thinking about anyone other than your self and you would of her my conversation. A women with small children renting my home was out and someone stole her wallet, all her cash and credit cards. She was alone without her husband who was traveling on business. I'm on vacation, in another state, traveling and by phone trying to help my guest figure it out. I was consoling her!!! Shop owner its not about you!!! And my son with Autism wanted that hat, I could care less about my hat. You made a scene and upset him. Thank you, he did not need that from you. I'd like to believe this was not you being disclusive , but I have never had this treatment before. My son didn't know where he picked it up and I was focused on him not you! Coast Highway Trading not only has a great selection of gifts, clothing, and fabulous items for the home, they also have excellent customer service. Numerous times the helpful people who work at the store have assisted me in purchasing various items. Most recently I purchased numerous one of a kind pillows and some fabulous blankets for my outdoor space. This afternoon, my daughters came here for a birthday gift. But, instead of a present, all they got was terrible customer service. Multiple times before, employees came up to my girls and asked them if they needed any help, they asked so many times it got to the point where my daughters even noticed it. They went into another section of the shop and an employee said that they needed to pay for the rings that were in there, which is common sense?? You want something, you obviously pay!! My daughters are 13 and 14! My youngest tried a ring on, put it down, and put her hands into her pocket to take out her phone. Another employee came up to them and told her to take the ring out of her pocket?!?! Without any evidence she immediately accused a thirteen year old of stealing?!!! My youngest was put on the spot and embarrassed, she took out her phone and that was the only thing in her pocket. The employee walked away without an apology. read more

0 stars!! I purchased a Billibong hoodie less than two weeks ago for my upcoming trip to Chicago I wore it two maybe three times by itself with a Cami underneath. There must have been a pilled thread at the V of the neck because when I got home I was going to wash it and I noticed a pulled thread had unraveled and there was a hole, thinking OK it's a new purchase I have the receipt it's never been washed, I attempted return it to the store the minute I returned to San Diego and the store owner refused to honor a return or credit. They do not stand behind their products, would not even give me a credit. In fact she accused me of doing the damage. She could have simply returned it to billibong as damaged. I did not missuse this item at all and it fact at 70 bucks this was a big purchase for me. Previous owners were wonderful this one not so much I refuse to purchase anything in the shop again as they do not stand behind their products and their service is indeed horrible buyer beware. read more
