I'm very upset with these people. I tried selling clothes to them and they didn't buy any and talked to me as if I stole items. "It's very strange that you have flashback tags on these clothes, where did you buy these" all while all the workers were looking at me as if I did something wrong. I still have tags on some of the clothes because I sell online and I need to remember how much I paid per item when I post them on Depop and whatnot. I needed money as soon as possible and figured I could sell to flashbacks faster than online. As a loyal buyer and seller of flashbacks for years I'm very upset and annoyed at this encounter. I don't think someone who stole would post a review. If Flashbacks has any concerns about a loyal customer I'd be more than happy to give dates and times of purchasing items at any point in time. Please tell your employees to do better. read more

The store smells pretty rancid and I bring nice, clean, modern and retro clothes and I only get the 'people here don't like that style' without even looking attentively. The 2 people working were talking to each other all the time, giving an impression of not caring about the business or being serious about buying things. I understand many people bring many things and they might have too much inventory but the way they treat the ones trying to sell does not leave a good impression. This is a funky resale shop offering men's & women's fashions, shoes & accessories, plus a wig selection. My husband wanted to go to check out any cool dress shirts, but did not find many that he liked. The store is small, not too big but if you look closely you will find some good bargains. The store has a lot of items. I found a really fun pair of sunglasses. The part that was hard to get used to is that things are organized by color and type rather than size. Which I think made me realize how little there was in an extra large or larger. You also get to look at all the cute things that won't fit you. there is so much here though that you'll likely find something that you like. Has a pretty big Halloween section if you're into that. The clothes were definitely like more interesting and vintage than the other thrift store across the street. Geared more towards vibrant, artsy crowd. read more

I loved selling my clothes and shopping here. It was such a good experience. Awesome staff and a good chunk of change for selling clothes to them. Things have changed. I noticed it wasn't as good the last time I shopped here a few months ago. This time it was worse :(. They only allow you to bring one bag now when selling, ok I get that. But the vibe of the clothes in there are really different and the prices seem lower. I would happily pay more money for unique/vintage clothes and costumes like you guys had before. read more

This is the first review I've ever written, and it's for a very unsettling reason. I did not feel safe at all shopping at this store. A tall man with a mustache, who I assume was working there, followed me throughout the entire store, brushing up against me and touching me multiple times. The middle age lady dark hair wearing shorts with crosses on back and fishnet too young for her age gave the worst passive aggressive attitude right off jump as if I had done something wrong. I already deal with racism everyday as a black man wish I didn't have to receive poor attitude so early at a place like this I'm not saying that's her issue but she was nothing but smiles and friendly for next customer who came in . I love Flashbacks! They have great & unique finds. Obviously some of the stuff is old, but that's to be expected (and kinda what you go for). I love how everything there is "one of a kind". Since then we have searched for a comparable store with absolutely no success until.....,drum roll....we decided to make the drive to Carlsbad. It was more than worth the drive. Flashbacks (Carlsbad location) is immaculate, personnel are happy to help & they have an incredible selection of clothes, shoes & more. Many still have the original tags. It's simply the best. I went to the Flashbacks in Carlsbad for the first time and I was so excited to go there because I have been wanting to check this place out for a while now and it definitely did not disappoint!! The staff working there were super welcoming and friendly from the moment I walked in until the moment I walked out it made my experience so much more better! The selection of clothing is pretty wide ranged and there is definitely something for everyone as they have such unique clothing and styles tailored to different "aesthetics" which was great, but I will say the only thing about this place is that it is on the pricier side but given the cool pieces they sell I would say it's worth spending a bit more :) read more

I've frequented the Carlsbad location after work and have found many funky, cool finds. There are lots of great vintage pieces. The staff is ~mostly~ kind and approachable. However, when I brought clothes in to sell one time I got lowballed (which is the nature of the resale business). They repacked my bag of clothing and I took it home thinking everything was in there. Next time I visited I saw a pair of shoes (W size 10 Mary Janes from Soda) I had brought in on their racks. I knew they were mine because they still had the same price tag from the Ross I bought them from. I went home to confirm and looked in my bag and they weren't there. Should I have double checked they gave me all of my items back? Yes. What bothers me a lot is I gave them my contact info and they didn't bother to call or text to let me know something was left behind. They didn't hold them to see if someone would come back for them. I didn't say anything because they didn't fit and i would've gotten maybe a nickel for them, just rubbed me the wrong way. read more

If you are a hunter who enjoys finding that one treasure hidden in the racks then this is the place for you. There are men's, women's, and younger styles all lumped in together. My niece found a beautiful rain jacket that was like new for pennies on the dollar. I found a great 70s style shirt that was locally made for about $15 bucks. This thrift store is funky and perfect for finding a statement piece. They seem to find clothes that could fit many different styles or eras. Prices were more spendy than usual thrift stores but some items were definitely more high end and worth your dollar. We even found a Versace shirt while searching. Think consignment rather than thrift. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because there didn't seem to be much of a rhyme or reason as to why certain close were next to each other on the rack which could make it hard if you want to search for specific items. In addition, I couldn't tell if it was all used clothes. If you're truly looking for used or vintage, be careful because there were a few brands and items that are popped up more than a few times that I think might be new. But if you don't really care if it's new or used this place is great. read more

However, I'm so used to other thrift stores being less expensive, but the stuff you find here is hard to find elsewhere. Not impressed. Came in to sell and bags lined up. They expect you to leave your stuff and let them go through it. Didn't set well. So came back months later tried again. Brought two bags with quite a variety of new, light used and used items. Many styles. Early 2000 even, free people, name brand and off brand. I left a bag while I went to my car to get another while other bags where ahead of me, came back to them having already gone through part of the bag, which felt super shady! As I stood there and waited she choose nothing then suggested to go across the street. I wouldn't come back. Very in tuned to energy and gifts of telepathy what I experienced was not aligned with positive morals consciousness or kindness. To each and their own but again wouldn't recommend or come back. In the past when browsing here just wasn't giving the vibe, that's just me. I also witnessed my ex daughter who was obsessed with this place bring home "BB critters" from thrifting! Did she get them from here, we may never know. That was the end of the thought of thrifting for me. Its a serious issue in SD and should be thought about before repurchasing others stuff. This thrift store is totally tubular and groovy, swell and nifty, all rolled into one. While there are a lot of costumes or items you could use as a costume, I would imagine loads of people shop there for unique finds for every day wear. I found the shoes Molly Ringwald wore in Pretty in Pink, I'm pretty sure. There was also a pink matching lace corset style belt that'd go totally radical with the shoes. Alas, I did not purchase them and decided they'd be better suited for someone else. If you're looking for some hand me downs that are definitely unique and you won't have to worry then that bitch Janice in the next cubicle over will have on the same outfit, then try Flashbacks. read more

I came here to sell some clothes, thought they didn't buy anything and that way a let down, service was exceptional and I loved their store. Jam packed with clothes ranging from new on one wall, to sorted by decades starting in the 20's in the middle, designer fashion on the right, they have it all covered. Tons of big name designers like Chanel, Gucci and Vuitton, mostly shoes and purses, I did find a new DVF vest for $30, score! Purses range from $35 for a beat up Louie (I was still tempted!) to about $150 for a big Gucci bag, more than fair right? The girls working were super nice and got through my suitcase in about 10 minutes. I won't be bringing clothes back here, but I will be back to shop for sure! read more

Went to the Carlsbad location to see if they would take all my unworn and some gently worn heels and boots. On the phone they said they take vintage but it appears the definition of "vintage" doesn't line up with my definition of "vintage". The girl that looked them over had the worst customer service. She had a very rude demeanor and just seemed so irritated, unapproachable, and just unhappy. She looked over my many boxed shoes with such a sour haphazardly attitude and did not even take one pair. She didnt even offer to give any recommendations on where else I should go to try another store nearby to even checked to see if I wanted to donate them. It was so uncomfortable to deal with her. Also, It's a lot of work for us customers to go out of our way to bring our old clothes and shoes for flashback employees to just look over the items with such a bad attitude that it leaves such a horrible bad taste in our mouths. I was friendly trying to have a conversation with the girl, but she was acting so snooty and careless, and I do not understand why? After reading these reviews I can totally understand how the other customers feel. I used to work in retail when I was even younger than the girl that helped me and I'm still working in customer service in commercial real estate and loans dealing with people and their hundreds of thousands of dollars. But even if I wasn't in this line of work I would not treat people the way she treated me. This girl lost me as a returning customer and is going to lose more customers with that bad attitude. I will tell all my friends and colleagues. This salesgirl should be coached to change her behavior and attitude and I just do not understand how the management and owner did not do anything about re-training her as I read many of the other reviews that had the same awful experience. Sad to leave this review because I enjoyed shopping here and thought customer service was great. Unfortunately that was only until I got home. I discovered two of my pieces still had security tags. I live forty minutes away, and it would be such a hassle to come back. I called in the person who picked up was very dismissive of my concerns. She told me to simply go to a local Ross or other store and ask them to remove it. To me, that feels like a very uncomfortable situation-trying to convince a random person at a random store that I in fact did not steal these items, and just needed the security tags removed. For all this hassle I would expect some sort of discount or credit for their mistake, which is going to cost me a lot of time. At the end of the day I was able to remove them myself, after a lot of effort and help from other people. The customer service I received on the phone was miles away from the customer service I received in person at the store. It's really too bad. read more
