I'm feeling guilty writing this review because of how much we liked the waitress as a person, but I think it should be shared. The whole experience almost reminded me of visiting a family that I'm not a part of...Uncomfortable and confusing. Everyone else was getting up and helping themselves to things (like coffee), so we assumed the coffee was self-service. (Since the waitress was doing double duty as the cook, seemed even more logical). My husband got up and started to get some coffee, and was immediately shooed away. It was a little bit embarrassing. The tables weren't dirty, but a few of them had personal items on them, like hats and papers and coats. Coat rack near our table was also full, but there were only 4 other people in there besides us, so I was wondering where all the coats came from. We both ordered breakfast sandwiches because the dish I wanted to order they didn't have, and the waitress said they come with coffee. (I was confused on whether we were getting coffee with the meal because she felt bad they were out of stuff, or if that's just how it works). I only got water, but we were charged for the one coffee. Not a huge deal, but not what we were told. The sandwiches were decent, but not better than what you can get at any diner/greasy spoon or cafe/bakery to go order. The other patrons all knew the waitress, and as that became more obvious, we realized why they were able to help themselves to coffee. One guy was even going behind the kitchen counter for something. I wouldn't go back, just because it's a strange place. I wonder how they stay open. Worth noting that it's cash only. ATM is available inside. read more

I must say this place was extemely disppointing. No staff on hand the owner is the cook and the waitress. She was sittting in the dinning area n looked like a customer that was about to dine.(Totally Unprofessional) It was not only until she asked me if I needed help that I knew she was the waitress. I asked if she was open bc she looked shocked to see customers.(place is across from CHA clinic was empty I see why). Its 11:00am she says yeah we close at 1:00pm as if it were almost going to be 1pm and she did not want o take care of us. I ordered​ french toast with a "side" of eggs, almost immediately she says oh I don't have french toast I have an issue with my fridge.but if you really want it I can make a batch for you.(awkward). So I say yes and I,also get a side of eggs. In the meantime she tells me I can get coffee which is self serve by the way. (Lazy, but I'm still supposed to tip you). Cups were nasty unsanitary not clean at all. So we're the coffee canisters. When my french toast came it was drenched in nutmeg. Not cinnamon discusting!! Immediately I was disappointed. My eggs were fine but.... When the check came she gives me an unitemized receipt I tell her to break it down. She charged me for the side of eggs $2.50 per egg. The side of eggs apparently came with 2 but the menu did not say it came with 2 eggs it just said 1 side of eggs $2.50. Usually in any other Diner that means the whole side no matter how many it brings would be $2.50 or whatever price they decide. That alone looked to me as they just did not have cusromersand were trying to make a buck off the people that did go. The place is unsanitary found a peice of eggshell in my cup of coffee. The hot sauce on the table looked like it was rotting. It just looked like it was not being inspected at all. read more

This little hole-in-the-wall spot is well hidden in Davis square. There are no-frills but it feels very homey, like being in a neighbor's kitchen. The staff was so friendly and knew all the regulars and made our experience a very good one. The menu isn't fancy but everything we tried was good, and although the coffee is self-serve (you have to get up and get it yourself) I didn't mind so much because I didn't have to wait for anyone to come around with a pot to get a refill and they had multiple different coffee flavors so I could try what I wanted. Overall this is a cute low key place for an easy breakfast to start your day - I'll be returning soon! read more

I love a hole-in-the-wall, unassuming breakfast joint, but I was so disappointed by Supreme. The coffee is self serve, the food was bland and basic, and I wouldn't return. They don't have butter... only "buttery blend" which is kept in a tub in the fridge. I ordered the Irish Benny (my fave) and was very disappointed in the hash- straight out of the can, if I had to guess. Please look at the bottle of "hot sauce" that I took a photo of. It looked like watermelon juice or puss, definitely not hot sauce. The only redeeming quality of Supreme was the server, who was absolutely sweet. read more

Yeah for hashbrowns!! Being from the west coast, trying to find hashbrowns in MA is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. I was so excited driving to this place...eggs benny AND hashbrowns...score! Sadly, when I asked how they made the hollandaise, they said it was the powdered kind....what the?!?! POWDER??!??!..... hollandaise...um ew and EW. So I went for the western omelette, which was really tasty, nice big chunks of veggies, which was especially good after the Sunnyside cafe fiasco the day before. The hashbrowns come in two forms, what they call shredded (I call it normal hashbrowns) and then something that I think comes in a McDonalds-like form. I had the normals and they were okay, but I was wishing they were more buttery and golden. Next time, I'll be sure to ask for that. read more

Even with so many great brunch spots in the Porter/Davis/Ball Square area, I'm always thrilled to try a new one to see how it stacks up for those hung over weekend mornings. I admit I've been intrigued with Supreme Kitchen ever since they renovated earlier this year and put up a new sign in the same font as the original Star Trek. What does that mean? Why would they do that? Do they even know? I finally made it over there for brunch this Saturday morning and was very happy with it. Unlike many of the other places, most of the other people there seemed like older regulars rather than yuppies, despite the Mr. Bartley's-esque breakfast specials like the Barack Obama or the Martin Luther King Jr. This place is definitely a pretty well-kept secret -- there were only a few tables but we had no trouble getting seated. The self-serve coffee is a nice plus on woozy weekend mornings, and the waitress was wonderfully friendly and accommodating of special orders. It reminded me a lot of Renee's Cafe but with fewer crowds and a smaller space, with the lower prices you'd hope would correlate with that. Omelettes run $6.75-7.25 with pancakes and egg sandwiches under $4. I had the Mexican omelette and sampled a friend's the Florentine eggs benedict (spinach + tomatoes) special ordered with Jalepeno hollandaise sauce (booyeah!). Delicious. And cheap! And just around the corner from my house! I'm sure that I will be back on many weekend mornings in the future. read more

Late one Sunday morning, the good folks at this HITW came pretty close. Standard diner fare (the cakes, the coffee, the bennies) get pumped up by some element of greatness (perfectly griddled, self-serve and international takes, respectively). But 'twas a rarely-offered item that grabbed me by Diana Ross & The Supremes: country fried steak! Served under sausage gravy and plated separately from the accompanying triplet of eggs, home fries and a pair of biscuits, the pounded beef slab rocked a crusty, salty coating and cut easily forkside. I could eat it every day, and by doing so, would cut my lifespan to approximately two weeks. Of course, with a menu price of only $9, you too can buy a lifetime of sustenance for only $126! Act now! S&H separate. Is it paramount AM cuisine forged from the perfect fires of the acme of ranges? No. But you know what they call a rich, creamy sauce like the gravy atop my baller CFS? Right, a suprême. Supreme Kitchen has been one of my fallback breakfast joints in Somerville for years now. I know I know... the superlative title might be a bit much for a "ma and pop shop" type diner, but I almost always have a really good experience here. Despite limited seating, I can't say I've ever waited more than 3-5 minutes for a table, which is unheard of for Somerville diners. The staff is pretty attentive and the prices are pretty cheap. For an added quirky kick, the specials are always given a wacky set of thematic names. Whether it's "Presidential Wives" or "Parks in Somerville" or whathaveyou, it's nice to see a place change up its specials menu regularly. FYI: The Supreme breakfast sandwich is EVERYthing you might want for breakfast: French toast for bread, sausage, egg, cheese, and hash browns IN the sandwich. Do it. Terrible service; waited 45 minutes at a table, while they filled take-out orders and ignored us. Also noisy, dirty, no restrooms, and cash only. Seriously awful. We showed up after the morning rush. The place was only half full, and everyone else had already been served. We ordered and waited. The table was sticky, the server never refilled our water glasses, there was bad music and a noisy TV. We waited over half an hour. The place was empty except for one other couple who had already eaten. We were really hungry. Where was our food? Then the cook started stacking up take-out boxes. It turns out that he opted to fill a big take out order (at least 8 or 9 meals) instead of making our breakfast. We were about ready to leave, but the server came up to us and said the cook was starting on our food right then. We decided to wait. 10 minutes later, nothing. I pretended to look for a bathroom (there isn't one) and peeked in the kitchen, to see an empty grill. 45 minutes, and they hadn't even started. This was just too much. We walked out. Halfway to the car, the server came out on the sidewalk and yelled after us for not paying for our coffee. Yeah, you can have your lousy burnt coffee and your two tablespoons of cream back, if we can have our 45 minutes back. Jerks. How about you serve the paying customers, instead of favoring the "big sale", ignoring us, and hollering at us in the street? This place sucks. Never again. P.S. - No exaggeration on the time it took. We had to walk a half-mile, round-trip, to get cash from a real ATM (this sticky dump is cash only) and the timestamp was printed on the receipt. read more

I was at Supreme Kitchen nearly every weekend for the better part of a year. I have to say, it's my favorite diner breakfast in greater Boston. There's limited seating, but even on weekends you rarely wait more than 10 minutes. It has the requisite self serve NE Coffee, no-frills waitstaff (though they are decidedly way more pleasant and less grizzled than, say, Kelly's or your average diner joint). What sets it apart for me is the extensive options for two of my favorite breakfasts: eggs Benedict and pancakes. You can get eggs Benedict in every flavor , region, or nationality: Mexican, Irish, Portugese, Florentine, etc. They're equally inclusive with the pancake list, though banana will always be my favorite. Weekend breakfasting is entertaining because they always have a themed specials menu: election weekend one year featured specials named after first ladies; oscar weekend after movies, etc. It's a cute touch and I usually ordered from it. read more

If there's one thing I can't stand about quaint little restaurants, it is the proximity of tables to other tables. I generally do not want to sit with strangers. Maybe i'm a bit a.d.d but when all I can hear is another table's conversation, it prevents me from having one of my own. I automatically start listening to their conversation. I had a breakfast wrap and some home fries, and they were perfectly fine. I do think they should invest in some blinds, because after choosing the cute little table by the window, I nearly went blind from the sun. Also, for safety's sake, the self-serve coffee thing should maybe be re-assessed: tables packed in like pickles + people squeezing through chairs while holding steaming hot cups of coffee= DANGER. Who's liable? Coming away from Supreme kitchen, I learned that the four boys next to us had a great college experience, as well as a wild semester abroad in Europe, (I just hope their roommate from freshman year is ok) I also came away with a mild sunburn, and a fairly satisfied appetite. read more

I hate this place!! I got pumpkin pancakes last fall here, and they were so gross. They were cold, and basically pumpkin mush from a can on a plate in the shape of a circle. When my friend and I returned them because they were so gross, the waitress got so mad at us and raved about how she thinks that we are crazy since everyone else "loves them" which was rude and not necessary. She then brought us regular pancakes that were also gross, but I didn't want to bring them back again because I didn't want the waitress to blow up! I used to come here semi-frequently for breakfast before moving away from this neighborhood and could recommend it then as a simple diner with decent food and friendly service. After moving back I decided to try it again. It claimed to open at 8:00 every day online and on the menu in the restaurant window. Someone finally showed up and went inside at 8:30 but wouldn't answer the door or the phone. When they answered at 9:00 they said they "were taking it slow today" and wouldn't open until after 9:30. There are pros and cons to it being a small family business I guess, but it will be a long time before I try to have breakfast there again. read more

Ka-thunk!!! that's the sound of the hollandaise in my gut 3 hours after my first brunch at Supreme Kitchen. Here they offer the typical diner menu with a few extra flourishes. Food is a step above greasy spoon. A little healthier and a little tastier... a little... Prices are good. Self serve coffee, water, and bottled beverages are a little weird, but I suppose empowering to us as customers. Atmosphere: Daytime TV blaring above the coffee station. Same bright orange cubist art as in Cafe Rossini/ Cafe Lola. Personality: Friendly white haired dudes in chefs jackets act as cook and a server. Its rare to have a restaurant where they actually *cook* for you, as opposed to "creatively "heat things. They cook, they have specials, they cater to your whims, they have a wide menu for such a tiny place, decent coffee, madly affordable prices, and unlike the hipper brunch places, you generally don't have to fight for a spot... These are good people with good food. Is it gourmet? Is it the special rosemary glaze atopped pomegranate eggs? No. its Eggs, and butter, and meats, and cheeses, and linguicia, and spinach, and simple food, done up the way you'd want it done, if you were allowed to deep fry anything before coffee. The Decor here, used to be cool, kind of like the bachelor pad with dark grey walls and darker red trim, and clockwork orange movie posters... where you'd invite yourself over every saturday morning, just in time for bacon... Tho now it is a servely classed up joint... good color, abstract paintings ala caffe rossini, and the television I wish they would take away. But any restaurant that uses the "Star Trek" font on their primary signage, gets the super thumbs up and the geeked out high-five from me. read more

About a 12 minute walk up Somerville's lovely Highland Ave from Davis Square lies Supreme Kitchen. With only about seven tables, the space is not supreme, but the breakfast is. On Sunday I got two eggs sunny-side up with two meaty sausage patties, and the option of either home fries or hash browns. The hash browns are McDonald's style and you get two of them. Add some toast (white, wheat, or rye), and this is one basic breakfast that will fill you up with goodness in addition to the usual suspects (fat, cholesterol, sodium, etc). Also available are an assortment of breakfast wraps, sandwiches and a delicious breakfast burrito. I have never tried any of the lunch items because the breakfasts are so good. They were doing dinner for a while, but I'm not sure if they discontinued it. Drinks are self-served from two refrigerators and an assortment of coffee dispensers. There's usually just one woman waiting tables, and she's very nice if not sometimes a little bewildered when all the tables are full. Thanks to its proximity to my apartment, I find Supreme Kitchen to be particuarly beneficial during a hangover. It's also less expensive and less hectic than, say, Inman Square's S&S Restaurant. And you have to see the decor to believe it. There's a U2 shrine mixed with Norman Rockwell prints, those annoying porcelain harlequin masks, and, at the counter, quite inexplicably, a large black and white photo of a boy holding a bouquet of red roses. Given the good quality food, the decor is probably the only bad taste you're likely to experience. read more

Small, unassuming, and across the street from the Somerville Hospital, Supreme Kitchen is one of my favorite neighborhood brunch spots. Despite it's diminutive dimensions, I've never had to wait for a table in the clean yet cramped dining room. I'm not sure that the specials ever really change, but their names do every weekend. I've eaten dishes named after Clint Eastwood films, NFL teams, department store chains, and TV/movie monsters - every weekend bears a different theme. The food itself is consistently good and really well-priced - think omelets, waffles, home fries, chicken fried steak - simple, delicious, comfort - breakfast food. All you really need to know is that the staff is friendly, the coffee is self-serve, and Supreme Kitchen is cash-only (there's an ATM inside). Supreme Kitchen = Supreme Brunch. read more

Supreme Kitchen is the bomb. I'm a connoisseur of brunch and though the SK doesn't have, say, the ambiance of a Johnny D's or the reputation and sinful deliciousness of a Soundbites. What it does have is fabulous service, a menu that changes often enough to keep things interesting (but retains all of your favorites to keep you happy), and a friendly, cozy, and accommodating feel. I must admit that I am biased because the SK is my neighborhood hangout. I can't really picture hanging out inside that packy or the Somerville Quickstop ( though both have super sweet employees), so SK has become my clubhouse. It's the type of place where people remember your name and what kind of food you like to order. It's the type of place where , when I suddenly joined weight watchers and became a sort-of vegetarian, understood my needs and didn't mind altering their dishes to fit my dietary requirements. I'd rec commend: *Any pancake meal. They are light and fluffy and sizable. Keep your eye out for specials, like the smashing coconut and chocolate chip offering of this winter. * Mexican omlettes. Nothing is better than spicy salsa and jalapenos and wheat toast to wake you up on a wintry morning * their revolving specials, esp. the special breakfast sandwiches. My boyfriend tried a variation on a breakfast Monte Cristo: hashbrown, sausage, and egg sandwich nestled between a lightly powdered English muffin. Sounds questionable here, but he has assured me it was delightful. * the Eggs Benedict also get big thumbs up from friends like Hapto T. Most of all, I love that the Supreme Kitchen puts up with me and treats my brunchtime with respect. I never feel rushed or hurried to leave while I am trying to finish my meal, which can't be said of all breakfast joints. I didn't really know what to expect from this place. A walking-by-glance at the menu definitely did not intrigue me to try it out. Rather, a freezing rain storm combined with an empty stomach lead me hear out of necessity one recent weekday morning. I found the service to be clipped but efficient, a tad on the curt side. I got the blueberry pancakes, which were delicious. I didn't like the fact that my syrup was served with a thick film on it. Icky. This unassuming little diner has delicious brunch! It's small and cozy, but not over-crowded like some other brunch places I know. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. I got banana waffles with whipped cream (it was a special called the "Hang 'Em High", I believe all the specials had a western-movie theme this weekend). The food was yummy and also had that sort of not-quite-perfect diner comfort food quality that I love. There's self-serve coffee with free refills and good fresh-squeezed orange juice. When I want brunch and to not wait in line for an hour, I will definitely come back to Supreme Kitchen! read more

We've only had breakfast here. Great place to have a cup of coffee, free refills. Friendly, helpful staff, they'll chat with you if you seem willing. If not, they'll just cook you great food. The quality is on-par with the Neighborhood but there is never a wait and you don't feel like you're sitting on top of each other. The specials are creative and delicious. My girlfriend ordered the pumpkin french toast special. It tasted like pumpkin pie, delicious!!! They don't serve as much food as the Neighborhood but it is a lower price and we often wind up taking food home. Worth a try! read more

At first I thought this was going to be our new favorite breakfast spot. We just moved to the area and it is super close. They seated us right away and the place was hopping. We were a party of two but then my husband called to say he'd like to join us. They were very accommodating and found us a larger table. So why 2 stars?? We ordered as soon as our friend came and it literally took about 45 minutes to get out order. (Eggs, sausage and toast mind you!!!) I can wait 45 minutes for farm to table gourmet food but not a diner breakfast. The food was not terrible but I would say about the same as Friendly's. Tried Supreme for the first time on Tuesday. It's been popping up on my mobile YELP as a place to go for breakfast so I figured I would give it a shot. Cute little spot across the street from the Somerville Hospital. Parking can be an issue because of this. I do enjoy the self serve coffee bar. When I want a refill I want it NOW and I can stroll on up and take care of business. Going to a breakfast place during the week doesn't give you a good feel on how well they run their restaurant. I can only imagine how tight the coffee bar area is on a Saturday or Sunday morning. UGH! Coffee was tasty regardless. I ordered the Patton. An omelet with brocoli, spinach, feta and avocado. Great group of ingredients but it didn't really have any pizazz or pop. Could of used some spices to liven up the mixture. Hashbrowns had same issue. Either cook them a little more to give them some crisp or get some spices in the mix. For real! I do enjoy all of the interestingly named specials like my Patton. I read that the names change all of the time depending on the time of year. Interesting concept. Had to pay extra for english muffin. Hmm... Bill came to just over $16 with a to go iced coffee. I have eaten here a fair number of times. The staff are very nice, really, but I find it unsurprising that they would argue and take it personally if anyone had anything critical to say. They are good, decent people who are doing the best with what they have, and their food is usually fine for what it is. But don't expect too much. A few hints: you get much better food when the place is empty. ASK if they are making the food with fresh ingredients (I once was served an omelette containing canned spinach, but they would have told me that if I had been bothered to ask). ASK what they are serving a lot of. ASK what they have fresh. ASK what they think is good and LISTEN to them when they talk because they are very open and honest about what they are doing. If you're looking for sprightly service and unproblematic substitutions and endless supplies of many really fresh ingredients, go to Ball Square Cafe or the Neighborhood Restaurant or someplace else that serves high volume. If you don't feel like walking all that way and want a decent plate of ham and eggs with not greasy potatoes, Supreme Kitchen is just fine. read more

Well, well, well...what do we have here?! A breakfast place that also serves lunch?! YES! I went here one day as a fluke, you see I wanted a meatball sub but not just any meatball sub. I need my balls homemade. I need my balls moist with sauce. I need a freshly braided and sesame seeded roll. I need to feel like I am appreciated when I walk into a place and order. I walked into Supreme Kitchen on a Saturday afternoon and was the only female in the joint, save for their wonderful and friendly waitress, Felicia. She told me that the sub comes without cheese and that is fine w/ me. I actually don't enjoy melted cheese on a meatball sub. I just like the meatballs and sauce and bread to shine in all their glory. I ordered a meatball sub to go and it came with a little bag of Utz potato chips and was CHEAP, under seven buck and it was TASTY! I really appreciated the notion that their meatballs are homemade. Wait, were they homemade? I don't know, but they tasted damn homemade and not the frozed middle school cafeteria crap I'm used to getting at places around these parts. They had some really cool sandwich names like the Doug Heffernan, Archie Bunker, Ray Romano. I will happily return and try this place for breakfast too! read more

I love eating at the Supreme Kitchen. I happily eat breakfast there every weekend and have lunch there usually twice a week. It is a short walk from my home, and I always see people I know when I eat there. It has a communal atmosphere that is reminiscent of eating at a coffee shop counter. The more I eat there, the more I appreciate what it has to offer. This past summer when the restaurant was closed for renovation, I was forced to try other nearby places. Like a "diner nomad", I visited them all. At the end of the cycle I returned to some (like Ball Square Cafe or Neighborhood Bakery or Al Fresco or Rosebud), but still couldn't wait for the Supreme Kitchen to reopen. Not only did I miss the food, I missed eating at a small restaurant that is well ventilated. While I want to remember my dining experience, I don't want my clothes to smell like hash browns or grease for the rest of the day. This does not happen at the Supreme Kitchen. The food at the Supreme Kitchen is well made, tastes good and has never disappointed me. The cooks are very good.The waitresses are friendly. They remember your special likes and dislikes (like no powdered sugar on pancakes), and recommend things they think you'll like. The themes and names of the weekend breakfast specials (which change weekly) make me laugh. I like the fact they have a few extra large cups at the self serve hot beverage area. And I like the spontaneous conversations that can occur between diners at adjacent tables. My husband spotted Supreme Kitchen as we were moving into our new neighborhood, so we decided to give it a try. It didn't blow our minds, but it's nice to know we have a place to walk to that's super close, to grab a quick, decent breakfast. We both got egg sandwiches-- mine was a western without the ham on whole wheat toast, and it was pretty tasty. The ice coffee was yummy too. The service was okay, really slow for such a tiny place as V X. mentioned. We waited forever to get our check and pay...but we weren't really in a rush, so we didn't mind terribly. Overall is wasn't a bad experience. There are better breakfasts out there, but we'll probably come here again in the future, if for nothing more than to marvel over the strange wall of U2 inspired art...yes, I mean portraits of Bono watching over you while you eat. read more

I waited 35 minutes for my food. The pumpkin pancakes were a good idea, but tasted off. They were the first pumpkin flavored thing I've bought this fall that I didn't finish. Our hash browns arrived cold and didn't have much flavor. I can't rationalize going back for such mediocre food after such a long wait. The place is TINY, too. I don't understand why it takes so long. Seriously. Don't go here if you have somewhere to be any time in the next two hours. read more

My girlfriend and I needed a quick meal one Sunday, but the three take-out spots we looked at were closed, even though they were all supposed to be open. As we walked towards Davis, we decided to stop here since it was easy and the menu looked pretty good. My first impression: TINY!!!!! Super-duper tiny. Luckily the brunch crowds had cleared out so we weren't sardined in, but it was still fairly crowded. We didn't order breakfast, but the steak subs were really good; I'm hoping to go for breakfast sometime soon. read more

Randomly came across this place on a walking adventure around Somerville one summer and finally came around to trying it out. Grilled veggie omelet was good, not too much egg and filled me up. The home fries were good and not greasy. They did have a novel breakfast menu with the Martin Scorsese theme. We tried the Taxi Driver meal which was french toast with apples and cheddar. It was ok but nothing to write home about. If you like canned apples with syrup, then you might like it. I'd say this is good for the weekend of drinking and I don't feel like spending any more money but don't want to cook breakfast type of situation. It's a less busy breakfast place compared to somewhere like Soundbites and it's an inexpensive meal that comes with very friendly service. read more

Such good food and the owner is extremely nice! The food is made fresh daily and for a reasonable price. Will certainly be back soon!
