I love a hole-in-the-wall, unassuming breakfast joint, but I was so disappointed by Supreme. The coffee is self serve, the food was bland and basic, and I wouldn't return. They don't have butter... only "buttery blend" which is kept in a tub in the fridge. I ordered the Irish Benny (my fave) and was very disappointed in the hash- straight out of the can, if I had to guess. Please look at the bottle of "hot sauce" that I took a photo of. It looked like watermelon juice or puss, definitely not hot sauce. The only redeeming quality of Supreme was the server, who was absolutely sweet.

Yeah for hashbrowns!! Being from the west coast, trying to find hashbrowns in MA is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. I was so excited driving to this place...eggs benny AND hashbrowns...score! Sadly, when I asked how they made the hollandaise, they said it was the powdered kind....what the?!?! POWDER??!??!..... hollandaise...um ew and EW. So I went for the western omelette, which was really tasty, nice big chunks of veggies, which was especially good after the Sunnyside cafe fiasco the day before. The hashbrowns come in two forms, what they call shredded (I call it normal hashbrowns) and then something that I think comes in a McDonalds-like form. I had the normals and they were okay, but I was wishing they were more buttery and golden. Next time, I'll be sure to ask for that.

Even with so many great brunch spots in the Porter/Davis/Ball Square area, I'm always thrilled to try a new one to see how it stacks up for those hung over weekend mornings. I admit I've been intrigued with Supreme Kitchen ever since they renovated earlier this year and put up a new sign in the same font as the original Star Trek. What does that mean? Why would they do that? Do they even know? I finally made it over there for brunch this Saturday morning and was very happy with it. Unlike many of the other places, most of the other people there seemed like older regulars rather than yuppies, despite the Mr. Bartley's-esque breakfast specials like the Barack Obama or the Martin Luther King Jr. This place is definitely a pretty well-kept secret -- there were only a few tables but we had no trouble getting seated. The self-serve coffee is a nice plus on woozy weekend mornings, and the waitress was wonderfully friendly and accommodating of special orders. It reminded me a lot of Renee's Cafe but with fewer crowds and a smaller space, with the lower prices you'd hope would correlate with that. Omelettes run $6.75-7.25 with pancakes and egg sandwiches under $4. I had the Mexican omelette and sampled a friend's the Florentine eggs benedict (spinach + tomatoes) special ordered with Jalepeno hollandaise sauce (booyeah!). Delicious. And cheap! And just around the corner from my house! I'm sure that I will be back on many weekend mornings in the future.

TL;DR - if you are from Bombay, are craving that specific Bombay Chinese food taste, and Vada Pav - look no further - this is the place. Most of their staff are fellow Mumbaikars - shout out to Shiv, Dhvani, and Ronak! Shiv, our server was friendly and our hungry table got straight to ordering which included a flavor packed and well priced Lychee Martini ($10), Masala Chai Hot Toddy ($12), and Spicy 'Lil Rita ($12) - being the best one! Food included some well name dishes like Kashmiri Deviled Eggs ($12), Vada Pav ($12), Rasam Risotto ($15), Butter Chicken Pot Pie ($20), Chicken Steak with Makhani Sauce ($18), Street Fried Noodles ($16), and Penne Pasta with Chicken for the kiddos. Food just hits the right spots and is very flavorful, extremely well seasoned, and perfectly spiced. Interiors and their bar is very inviting. Noise levels during our stay were on the lower end. Service was excellent. What was refreshing was they didn't charge us any automatic gratuity even for our large group - but absolutely deserved a generous one! Highly highly recommend if flavorful food is your thing!

Like other reviewers have mentioned before, some of the dishes arrive faster than others, so I think selecting a few dishes to share family-style among the group might be the best. This is also because I got the milk bread monte cristo ($18) which I thought was tasty, but quickly became too greasy to fully enjoy. It was a big portion which could be easily shared among a group. I also tried their zucchini and spring onion latkes ($18) and seasonal donuts ($12), both of which were excellent. The zucchini latkes were super soft but seasoned perfectly and had a nice aroma of charred onions. I highly recommend the seasonal donuts which are fluffy and not too sweet.

The menu is full of tempting options so it was hard to choose. We shared the grilled rosemary focaccia, grilled broccoli, roasted cauliflower cesar, and Thai sausage pierogi (with lime, mint yogurt) All were excellent. The grilled rosemary focaccia with fresh, warm, and fluffy and came with a honey whipped ricotta! The grilled broccoli was served on top of heavenly butternut squash hummus and covered nutty-crunchy goodness. The cauliflower cesar and pierogi were also very good; although, I'd probably try something else next time. It was more than enough food for a party of 2. We could have easily only gotten three options, which might have left room for dessert - although maybe not - they are generous portions. Anwho - All in all - great experience all around.

This is a pub-type atmosphere with a full-service, large bar serving cocktail specials and a gazillion draft beer options. There is a street-side patio if you wish to watch the people and cars at Davis Square. Five Horses serves American comfort food, and they do a pretty good job serving up their offerings. I ordered the steak tips, and they were OK. They were served Med/rare, as ordered, but they did need a bit more seasoning. Plus one ordered a steak salad, and it was OK. They were pretty frugal with the protein, and it came with an abundance of tomatoes. Another guest split a cobb salad it arrived without some ingredients, like bacon. Other diners stated that their dinners were excellent, so 4 stars seems about right. Even though they were very busy, our table was well taken care of throughout the evening. If I lived here, this would be in my rotation for a brew or two, catch a game, and enjoy a burger.

I try not to post negative reviews but I do not recommend the flank steak. I saw it (flank steak,…read morechimmichurri sauce, mashed potatoes, and broccoli) at $29 and said I haven't ordered a steak in while, let's treat myself. Boy was I disappointed, it was literally four tiny slices of beef, about a ladle and a half of mashed potatoes (flavor was great but the texture was dry and it was hard to swallow), and the broccoli was broccoli. The steak was cooked to my liking (rare) but it was room temp and I would describe that serving size as maybe the equivalent of a medallion. Everything else our table ordered (pizza, shepherd's pie, and a burger) looked great but the flank steak is not it y'all. However the service was top notch and will definitely go back, just won't order the flank steak next time!
