Came for dinner with my friends on a Sunday. We were seated right away. We decided to start out with some Mac n cheese egg rolls- which were great and held us over until our burgers came out. Two of us got the roots burger- bacon, jalapeños, cheese sauce, tater tots and the usual burger toppings. Love the toppings and the flavor combo. The burger itself was ok. I've definitely had better but it wasn't bad. It's silly they're served with chips and baked beans or Cole slaw instead of fries. Really didn't end up needing either in the end barely finished my burger. The milkshake was a good finisher I took most of it home and finished it later on but it as a good milkshake. And they have really extra milkshakes that have like three in one dessert vibes lol. They sound good in theory but it's a lot. Overall a decent burger place in Boston! read more

Complete robbery! They force you to get kettle chips and if you're craving French fries with your burger like maybe 99 percent of the population it will be 7 dollars extra. The fries are frozen btw. Ended up spending 30 dollars after a 3 dollar tip for the server. A burger with cheese and onions, French fries and a Pepsi. A must-try burger place for burger enthusiasts! This is a very casual but solid spot to grab a burger, with a very extensive menu and lots of combos for everyone's taste. I LOVED my gravy train burger- the cheese curds were thick, salty, and had a nice bite and smothered in gravy with a thick patty. Our service was great too! A very solid burger place with fair prices in the center of Davis Square. It's not so fancy that you feel the need to dress down, but it certainly doesn't feel like your average American fast food chain either. Saw their menu while searching for restaurants on Yelp and decided to go in for dinner. The good first: Mexican street corn fries were really good. Flavorful, a bit of a zing to the spicy mayo, definitely enjoyed them. The Vermonter and Hot Mess Burgers were great. Messy, be prepared, but worth the mess. The chips that they came with were plain fried potato chips. No salt, no salt on the table. Bland and totally flavorless. I'll pass on these in the future. Baked beans were good, nothing special. Coleslaw was average at best. I probably wouldn't bother with this. Location: the place is small but was only half full and wow was it hot inside. 78F outside and I broke into a sweat after we walked inside. Apparently the AC wasn't working but no one bothered to setup a fan, open a door/window or anything else. That made for an uncomfortable experience with us constantly wiping sweat off our faces with the table napkins. Bottom line: I'd be hard pressed to want to visit here again with how little attention they gave to the heat issue. I'll consider driving to a different location if I have a craving for a great burger. Skip the chips unless you like eating paper. read more

This was my first time trying this location of Boston Burger Company in Davis Square. It is in a prime location - right off the red line and very accessible. On a Friday night, it wasn't too packed so we were able to get seated right away. The menu here is absolutely insane... the burger choices are wacky and they have pretty much any combination that you could think of. I decided on the "Hot Mess" burger, while my partner ordered the "Vermonter" burger. It's a bit of a disappointment that they don't allow for substitutions for a side of fries (by default you get a side of chips with coleslaw or baked beans), but after receiving your food you quickly will realize that fries might be a bit too much. These burgers are massive and absolutely loaded with toppings. The "Hot Mess" had thousand island dressing, lettuce, sweet potato fries, and more. While the burger was tasty, it was definitely overpowered by everything else going on here. I honestly preferred the taste of the "Vermonter" burger more... the different elements of this burger paired together better in my opinion. The chips and coleslaw were okay, but nothing special at all. Because we're crazy, we also ordered one of their loaded frappes - the s'mores flavor. This frappe was insane. Topped with graham crackers and flame-torched marshmallows, it was overwhelming even for two people to share. Still, it was tasty and unique. I've been to the Cambridge and Boston locations of Boston Burger, but this was my first time trying the Somerville one. I went with a few friends on a Saturday night. This was in October and the windows were open, so there was a significant draft in the room. I ordered the burger bomb, which comes with sautéed peppers, mushrooms, onions, and cheese. I thought the burger was slightly overcooked and part of it tasted like char. We also shared the hard apple pie a la mode freake frappe. I think their normal shakes are really good, but I didn't love the addition of alcohol. Maybe just not for me. Overall, some menu items are great and others are just okay. Coming on an empty stomach was the smart idea here. My friend ordered the Pigferno which was also massive and stacked like a tower with the burger, onion rings, spicy mayo, and BBQ sauce. We also ordered the Dry Rub Wings which was also incredible. Only thing I did not like was not having enough stomach space to order some more! The burgers were great and the onion rings as well. Pretty bummed about the $11 milkshakes aka frappes. They are made with soft serve ice cream and not scooped ice cream therefore the consistency is that of melted soft serve. The hot chocolate one is vanilla soft serve mixed with a package of Swiss Miss I had the Nutella and it lacked the depth of flavor I was expecting. They "wow"you with the presentation but under all that whipped cream are cheap ingredients. Our bill was $88 for 3 burgers, 1 order of onion rings, 2 shakes and 1 IBC root beer. Whoa! We didn't wait long and the service with Maya was wonderful. If you get seated in the dining room with the door, you will need to keep your coat on as the wind blows right in. Dear god in heaven Boston Burger Co. is fantastic. I've been there twice and both times I had amazing burgers. The first time around I went with the Waikiki and the second time I got The King. Both were absolutely delicious. I am now a firm believer that there is a reason they have been featured on so many TV shows. I also felt the need to indulge in a milkshake as they looked delectable. And it was very good, just be warned a lot of it is just whipped cream on the top. Unfortunately, I felt the French fries were the weak link and really nothing special. But the burgers are so good it doesn't matter. And it's not like the fries suck, they just aren't awesome. The spot itself is on the small side and there is a fair chance you'll have to wait in line if you go at traditionally popular dinning times. But it's worth waiting a bit. They have a very good beer list with plenty of selections on draft. I've had two great experiences and totally plan on going back and trying another burgher. After all of our turkey consumption for the Thanksgiving holiday we decided to check out this cute neighborhood spot in Davis Square. The square itself was cute and homey with a theater and drug store. Then we squeezed our party into Boston Burger Co for a tasty cow patty. In honor of the legalization of weed in the state I ordered the 420 burger. It did not disappoint! Mozzarella sticks, an onion ring, bacon, then the cheeseburger, but don't forget the fried mac and cheese bites on the bottom!! I asked for the mustardy bbq sauce on the side just in case I didn't like it. But it was a nice addition to the burger itself. In order to be able to bite into my burger I ate the sticks and ring as my appetizer and then smooshed the mac and cheese bites into my cheeseburger and enjoyed the double cheesiness! The chips tasted homemade, crispy, and salty. The Boston baked beans on the side were tangy and spicy with strong flavors. I could have gone for a larger portion of those! Then we all shared a side of fries. Nice thick cut sections of potato fried and lightly salted to add to our American dinner. They had deliciously ridiculous looking frappes and milkshakes with candy and cereal and all sorts of crazy goodness, but the burger and fixings were more than enough! Truly a Boston classic. This is not a big chain fast food place, I would describe it more as diner vibes. I would not consider the food cheap, but they do stack their burger to make them very heavy and filling. The meat was cooked to the right temperature, nothing to complain about. (6/5) The 420 Burger - Maybe I'm a monster, but I ask for sauce on the side and deconstruct the burger. I eat the mozzarella sticks and onion ring separately and dip them in the sauce, as a pseudo appetizer/side dish. Otherwise, the burger is just too thick to bite through. I leave the macaroni bites in the burger, to give a faux cheese burger flavor. It is the complete package. And you can't forget the 420 special value! All burgers come with chips and coleslaw or beans (contain pork). The chips were good, kind of salty, but no special flavoring to them. The coleslaw was fine, slightly wet, but I am not a big fan of slaw in general, so not a great judge. Never had the beans. Overall: This joint is a bit on the pricier side for burger in my opinion, but they can be quite large. I will definitely return for more 420 specials!
