Their pastrami sandwich is one of the best I've had in years -- nice, lean meat, perfectly toasted bread with good sauerkraut and mustard. I was there for a late lunch and the place was almost empty. Went there for brunch with my wife and a friend. I had the breakfast burger, my wife had the egg benedict and our friend had the quesadilla. The burger was alright, the fries were ok too. Rose might be the rudest person ive ever spoken to. Not only did they screw up the reservation but she was so nasty and mean. she gave me excuse after excuse as to why they didn't have it assigned properly and added weight list people even though i called and made a reservation more then 24 hours prior. Worst Restaurant Experience of My Life I have been a weekly customer of Orleans for the past 8 years. On the evening of May 14th, 2024 all that changed. A misunderstanding regarding a food order led to an interaction with the manager of the restaurant during which he displayed incredibly unprofessional behavior. He raised his voice and swore at me, physically touched me while arguing with me, and was extremely condescending towards me. I contacted the ownership group of the restaurant to submit a formal complaint about the behavior of their restaurant manager. In this formal complaint I provided details of the interaction and I offered the contact info of the people who witnessed this interaction. The ownership group got back to me and told that they talked to their manager and that they are confident that the manager's behavior won't happen again in the future. The ownership group also said that they had never received this type of complaint about their manager in the past. Due to the severity of the display of unprofessional behavior of their manager, I feel obligated to share this review with the patrons of Orleans restaurant. I want to leave a public record about the awful behavior of their manager towards me so that if anyone experiences the same treatment in the future, you can see this review and know that this is not the first time that the manager displays unprofessional/awful behavior towards a customer. I would like to advise you to be aware that if the manager is having a bad day, you could experience an interaction similar to mine. If you want to avoid this possibility, please go somewhere else. We went here before the Slutcracker st Somerville Theater. It was the night before Xmas Eve and they were waiting on a big party. It was festive and homey at the same time. I visited your restaurant yesterday on Jan. 3rd with a dear friend. We were impressed with all aspects of our visit. The ambiance was lovely, the staff extremely courteous and helfpul. Now to the food. While my friend ordered the enchiladas, I opted for a cobb salad, one of my favorites, and wasn't disappointed. The salad surpassed my expectations -- one of the best I've ever had. Orleans is a classic davis square spot. On the weekends I love to come here and sing karaoke with my friends. This past week I came to have dinner on a weekday night. First off, please don't trust the 3 star review for Orleans, maybe in the past it had issues but bad reviews should drop off after some time. We normally go to a different place for brunch but because it was Mother's Day it was packed so we decided to go for pizza instead. On our way to the pizza shop we drove past Orleans, it wasn't packed and the patio was adorable. I asked my boyfriend to pull over, looked at the rating of the restaurant and almost went somewhere else because of them having only 3 stars but luckily read the recent reviews. We sat on the patio and had one of the best breakfasts ever! My bfs steak was so flavorful. My eggs Benny was the best yet and had spinach, avocado, tomatoes and the biggest slab of ham on it plus the hollandaise sauce tasted perfect. this has been a classic Davis spot for a while .... but it has gone in a weird direction. the quality of the food is really variable these days and it's astronomically expensive for what it is. I had a salad last night and added grilled chicken for $6. I got exactly six skinny, thin, dry, flavorless pieces of overcooked chicken. I couldn't help imagining eating a dollar with each one ..., the servers there are ALWAYS kind and attentive and super friendly with little kids. and the patio is a great spot in the summer. but my weird $25 salad and my friend's super dry, thin Turkey burger for $19 has us looking for a new spot. and since it was awkwardly empty on a Friday evening .... I've typically had great experiences at Orleans, both for dining and just drinks. But last weekend while I dined with two friends for the football game the attitude and behavior of the bartender really soured the experience for me. He made no secret that he was annoyed to be making drinks for us (a bottle of champs for first round, espresso martini's for the second). At one point he came to the table to directly question me about my drink order in a super aggressive and angry tone. For our last drink order we actually ended up changing our drink order because our waitress warned us that the bartender would be angry to make them. These were not specialty or complicated drinks either. His attitude was so toxic. We have never had issues with any staff before, and have great relationships with many of the waitstaff. It's a shame that this one individual can ruin such a great spot. read more

The restaurant was absolutely packed but but there is plenty of seating available. Tons of tv's to watch all the games, a live band that was pretty cool, and the decor is pretty nice! Nowwwwww here comes the bad:( the service was a cut from the book The tortoise and the hare, he's gonna go suuuuper slow but eventually he'll get you all your stuff, only that we waited at the table with one person without their soda for over 45 min while my margarita came within 10. The food was mehhh, I had the fish and chips which came with a good amount of food, and the cole slaw was great and I hate cole slaw (right, I said that). The service was just so slow and the waiter didn't know the menu at all so it killed it for us. Specifically, Saturday nights when there is karaoke. The bar service is terrible. Bartenders seem to struggle with credit card transactions causing long waits to receive service. The DJ provides a list on notebook paper of karaoke singer requests. The list is not followed. Regular attendees of this karaoke get called up frequently while newcomers are forced to wait hours to be called. One woman circumvents the cue by singing solo and in groups and duets with her friends. False names are added to the list to scam the rotation. The much older than his audience DJ favors the younger screechy singers who congregate up front. This is the worse and most unfair karaoke I have been to in the Boston & Greater Boston area. read more

My only bad experience at Orleans. Be cautious if Queer or POC. I've been a regular at Orleans for years and it has been my local go to bar. All of my previous experiences, dining and at the bar, have been excellent. Yesterday was the first time I've ever felt unsafe at any Davis Square bar. The bartender (M in beanie with shoulder length hair) was rude when we asked for a pitcher of water (many pitchers of water were on tables) and when he said no and we asked for 4 waters he got them and then slammed them on the bar spilling half of two of them. One member of our group (M South East Asian) went to get a round and the same bartender asked "what do you fuckin want?" And then cursed at him again during ordering. After we got our drinks the bartender brought another man (not in a uniform, regular or employee? Not sure) over and pointed and laughed at our group and we overheard them use the works f*ggot more than once. (Our group is Queer folks) When one of us went to order a round of drinks before he could order he was told by a woman behind the bar (waitress or bartender?) told him that a "witness" said our friend (South East Asian) threw up in the bathroom so we were all cut off. He had not been to the bathroom in an hour and didn't throw up. A group of staff in uniform (3) and others not in uniform (3) (6 guys total) came up to our table and told us that we had to leave and were "lucky that they let us stay this long". The bartender yelled at our group again and then said that a witness pointed out our friend who threw up ( a different person then before one is a tall white male and the other a shorter South East Asian man- they couldn't be confused) when we asked what the issue was the bouncer yelled it was time to go. He grabbed my friend (ripping a large hole in his shirt) and then the group of guys (not clear if all were employees) shoved us out of the restaurant. It was 1205 and we had 3 rounds of drinks and a round of waters in 3 hours while watching karaoke. We were dancing and having fun and had no interactions with other guests. Prior to this Orleans was one of my favorite bars: great service, food and drinks. What happened to my group now makes me feel concerned to go there. Maybe there was confusion and maybe someone threw up but getting called slurs by staff when you're a customer enjoying a nice night is upsetting. Then to get kicked out by a group of people that maybe didn't all work there who yelled at us when we had caused no issues with staff or guests was out of left field. My overall review would be fun spot during the day but Queer and POC folks be aware of the staffing, safety and surroundings. read more
