Came here for beers with friends! Had the Apricot Rhapsody which is a delicious sour! I would highly recommend this beer. Service was conducted at the bar so be prepared if you sit elsewhere in the shop you have to order from the bar. The ambiance of the place is cool and interesting! This weekend we stumbled upon Lamplighter Brewing Company in Cambridge. It has a welcoming and hipster vibe. Really enjoyed seeing the pride flag at the bar-- felt like a safe space for all. The Cambridge location is busy around the time we went, which was around noon on a Saturday. There is lots of seating in the front but also in the back which is a little more quiet. The setup is a little confusing for ordering though. There's one big line for food and coffee, but you don't need to wait in that line to order beers. I wish we knew that because we didn't see any signage to indicate where to order what. We also saw a lot of people sitting at the bar eating and drinking coffee, so it took a little bit to find a spot at the bar just to have a drink. I think the bar should be reserved for those looking to have a beer. A positive though is that the beer tasty-- light and refreshing. I thought some of the flavors were really creative. For example, I tried the Chrysalis which I believe had notes of jasmine and honey. Overall would definitely come here again and try their food and coffee next time! read more

Service was outrageously slow at the bar. I must've been sitting for 15 minutes before my existence was even acknowledged. The bar back was within a foot of me multiple times. Dude, c'mon, just gimme a "someone will be right with you"...SOMETHING. Beers are all solidly made, but, like most breweries, most of the taps are iterations of hazies/NEIPA's. I would've loved to see more lagers. Space is eclectic, industrial, and homey. It does not match the outside of the building. read more

Unfortunately our visit was cut short because of an emergency plumbing issue at Lamplighter that caused them to close around 6 on a Saturday evening. We walked in and our IDs were checked and we were given cute little lantern stamps on our hands. There are a few tables, some standing and sitting high tops, and a comfy couch to sit on. When we arrived it was already pretty full and couldn't accommodate our 5 person group to sit down, so keep that in mind if you're coming as more than a couple people! I ordered a full glass of the lumiere - much darker than I expected but it was fruity, not too sour. A tasty sip. My partner ordered the werewolves of Cambridge - very tasty porter! Neither were easy to drink quickly when we were told they were closing early, but for the moments we were sipping them I had a great time :) Their bathrooms are nonbinary with cute drawings on the insides of the stalls and posters that give you safe options to move forward if you're feeling uncomfortable, which is very much appreciated. When we arrived we had just gotten inside and ordered our drinks before we were told they had to close, so this review is based on a short visit that I hope can be completed at another time! read more

Really cute brewery in Cambridge. Upon walking in a nice young lady, checked my ID and I made my way to the bar. Plenty of seating inside, it was warm. The vibes are very laid-back and comforting in a way because it had ambient dim lighting. Great selection of beer and merchandise. Also a good selection of beer to go. I really love their logo and can designs! I got a flight so I could try everything that I was interested in and everything was phenomenal! The two bartenders were super friendly and attentive. A cool brewery with different areas to sit and a shelf of games/cards to play. The menu is mainly sours, IPAs, stouts and ales, and you can also order a flight to try a taste of a few difference flavors at once. The night we came they didn't have food, but they do allow you to order DoorDash or leave and come back with outside food to enjoy while you sip. There is a second area in the back, but it was not open when we visited on a Sunday afternoon. When I used to live in Union Sq, I would go to Lamplighter very frequently. Whether it was for one or two drinks, or a longer night with friends, you're always going to have a great time here. First, the beer. They have plenty of the NE-IPA variety and it's of a very high quality. But they also have other strong offerings for other styles. They allow outside food, so I often come here with some vegan snacks procured elsewhere and have myself a bit of a feast. Love that they help me elevate my dinner game with some quality drinks. Service is usually right on par, though if it's busy (which it can be certain times/days of the week), there might be a bit of a wait. Some friends and I (group of 8) hung out here on a Monday evening and had a good time! There were plenty of seats available, and our drinks were made as soon as we ordered them. I got the solstice, the mildest drink on the menu since I don't really drink, and I actually didn't mind it and would get it again. Everyone tried different things and seemed to enjoy what they got. Not the fault of Lamplighter at all, but I wanted to try the Shogayu Smash. It's a ginger beer and definitely not my thing. I tried my best to finish it, but couldn't. Their bathrooms are also gender neutral and there's more seating in the back. We also played card games while I worked on my beer. I saw a few people playing board games/card games (they have a shelf of those in the corner). What an awesome hybrid coffee house/brew house. Quaint, perfect for working for home or meeting up with some friend for a flight of beers or brews. The seating arrangements are bar seating, a few tables/booths, and some free-standing high tops. It isn't large, so come off-hours with work and/or happy hour crew. There were many ppl on their laptops doing work which I love and feel so inspired to do work at a brewery now Attire: casual, pretty sure you can wear anything Food: they had nachos and soft ass pretzels but only available on certain nights (I forget which two nights) Bar snacks for $1 includes goldfish, cheezits, pita chips, pretzels variety no nuts Bad nuts for $1 There is a lil sandwich cafe shop right inside, pepitas, that sells sandwich's, soup, coffee, tea and sometimes pastries. It's a whole "separate" shop in the brewery..which just means it's a different register and you have to order beer and food at separate counters. Location: right on Broadway st which is a nice neighborhood I suppose Price: very doable prices ranging I think about $4.50ish to $14ish for beer Parking: street parking didn't look too bad, don't have a parking lot. I walked here. Bus stop not far from this spot. Overall: I got a flight which is always the way I start at any brewery. And how can you see a flight and not order a flight?? Then I got a whiskey barrel aged stout looking beer and 14% knocked me. Couldn't do another one or id need to be rolled out. With that being said the beer was very delicious. High ceilings, cool decor, and funny creative names for the beers. I thought about taking off a star for a bartender that wasn't nice, but not going to let one bad apple ruin the bunch. The other bartenders were responsive, and helpful in describing the different brews. We got a flight of the light beers, of which 2 stood out. Will try the second flight next time. For me, on a hot summer day, the jagged little pils Pilsner was the stand out of the flight. Crisp and flavorful. The other beer that stole the show (which we got later) was the brunch stout. Creamy coffee, and not too heavy. Would like to come back to try the food- seems like they feature different chefs, of varied cultures.The other coffee business that's there also seems worth a try. Came back for the MIRA fundraiser. $1 for every pour of this Belgian that was like 8%. Enjoyable to sip for sure. Had to go ahead and take a star off this time for the service though. It is really hard to get the server's attention for a beer. It seems like regulars get special treatment, which is all well and good as long as everyone gets attended to, lol. Perhaps one way to become an insider would be to join the "mug club." Some patrons are mysteriously served in big ceramic mugs. Half-brewery, half-coffeehouse. Lamplighter brewing is the ultimate hipster spot and it's an innovative concept in itself. I love that they host Littleburg Vegetable Kitchen and other veg-friendly pop-ups occasionally. On my most recent visit, Lamplighter was hosting a vegan mini-market. It's a 0.5 walk from the Central T-station. You can take the 91 bus from there but the walk is a pleasant one. Come to Lamplighter for the chill beers and sweet merch. Hands down, my favorite microbrewery in the Boston area. A very well run, small establishment, off the beaten path in Cambridge. My wife and I came in about 6pm on a Monday night. There is a long bar, as well as tables. High ceilings, not too noisy (it filled up by ~7pm). It was well staffed with friendly, knowledgeable people. They have snacks available- we got the GIANT pretzel, and it was delicious. The beer: a large selection, and we really appreciated that they have two actual flights available- and not just half-pours. We got the dark flight and the ipa/sour flight. Both excellent. We got extra pints of our favorites, and also brought home two 4 packs. Our favorites were the Side Salad IPA and the Someone Like Crue dark mild Ale. The front space can get a little crowded, but the entire back room is a great spot for small groups, as well as trivia on Tuesday nights! Very fun brewery! The place is large (two tap rooms) and is usually full of people. They have a large variety of beers so you will be sure to find something you like (even if not everything is great). I personally like their IPAs, though the passion fruit one was too sour for my tastes. I went during an Octoberfest themed night and I liked how committed they were to the bit--German decorations, food offerings, and even costumes for the servers. The place was very lively, with good music and vibes for a good night out with friends. I would caution, though, that the food is not that great and the servings are not that big, so I would recommend planning to eat elsewhere. Friends introduced Lamplighter and their Pepita Coffee, to me this morning (Saturday, April 8, 2023). What a find! This is, by far, my new favorite coffee place. I just got a drip coffee - nothing fancy - and was one of the best cups of coffee I've had in recent memory. For food, I got the Passion Fruit Danish. It was stunningly delicious. The best food item I've ever had in any coffee shop. It was so good, I wished the experience of eating never ended! Unlike many local type coffee shops, this one, although busy, has more room than most other ones, which tend to be small in size, and thus little to no room to move around in. The four of us found a table almost right away. I really cannot wait for my next visit! read more

Loooove this cute little local brewery, it's definitely my favorite in the area. From the beer to the atmosphere to the funky graphic designs on their cans, everything about this place is so well done. My office is right down the street and I swing by regularly for a post-work beer or a mid day cold brew/kombucha. Their beer list changes from time to time but some of my all time favorites here include the Rhapsody in Red (perfect summer sour full of fresh flavors) and the Rabbit Rabbit (one of their most popular beers, a double IPA). The taproom itself is not dog friendly, but you can regularly spot a couple of the staff's adorable pups on the other side of the building. They're always bringing in food trucks, hosting special events, selling fun artwork and swag, and much more. Basically this place is always up to something creative and fun, so if you stop by frequently like I do you'll never be bored. Super trendy. Super tasty beer. You won't be disappointed. read more

Out of all the breweries in Boston, we find that we keep returning to Lamplighter. It's a place that truly knows how to maintain high quality, and theres always something for everybody. (Our taste is not too bitter, or rather, we like some complex and/or sweet flavors to round out a single-noted bitterness.) Recent favorites: Neon lights - very hoppy IPA that I actually love. Night cap - almost sherry-like whiskey barrel aged imperial stout. Yum. Smokey the beer - rauchbier that loses its smoke a little more quickly than we'd like (our basis for comparison is Schenkerla) Brothers antitoi - a great really unique wild style Brett fermented beer. Very hip, expansive and relaxing space located in Cambridge. By day, it's Longfellows serving coffee and breakfast items and by night they are Lamplighter Brewing. They try to keep a range of beers, but their IPA's are the more worthwhile option here. They have some sours, but they are kettled and you can tell. We tried their pre-set flight 'Funk It Up' for (~$11), this included: -*Stardust* (IPA with simcoe, summit, and amarillo): Classic and choice hops for a west coast styled IPA. This one had one brilliant bright and hoppy character. -*Birds of a Feather* (NE-styled IPA with mosaic and columbus): Great combination of hops which gave it almost an herbal/ sage and lemony character. Very floral and very different. -Leopard King (Brett Pale Ale): Never really a fan of bretty IPA's. Definitely very straw-like with slight barn-yard undertones. -Sound + Vision ('fruited' sour with cherries): Slight acidic charge, but basically watered down and dulled cherries. It leaves a lot to be desired. Boston already lacks a strong brewery presence with Trillium, Night Shift, and Treehouse in the far west giving the city most of it's prestige. However, Lamplighter seems to be another worthy visit if you want to stick around Massachusetts while on the East Coast. read more
