I want to compliment Maundy for an outstanding haircut. This is the third or fourth time that she has cut my hair and I'm thrilled with the cut. She's kind, patient, and a good listener. Thank you, Maundy! read more

Okay...so I thought "I dont really need anything special, as I am trying to grow my hair out for my wedding next year so I dont want to spend a lot for a trim" ...of course I went with the wash cut and blow dry because I am going to a concert tonight. I thought it couldn't be that much since my hair is not that long (did I mention the growing it out thing?) I had my hair up when I first came in so she asked me how long my hair was. I took it down and its around my shoulders (and my neck is not 3 feet long!!) she then says it going to be 34.95....WHAT? I use to go to an actual salon and spend $40...the sign says $22.95 and up...why was mine $12 more than the minimum? Then we go to the sink and she pretty much scrubs my scalp raw...my head still hurts. If I didn't have so much to do this week I would have waited...now I know and I wont be going there and wasting money again! read more

Marisol is the best. She's quick, nice, and she listens. They renovated recently so it isn't ghetto anymore. It's cheap, the front desk is courteous, and the location can't be beat. You can't make a real appointment, but if you want a particular stylist you can make a "call ahead" appointment which means you'll be the next one up. I also like the fact that you can use your debit and get cash back for the tip. It ain't glamorous, but if you find a stylist you like you can avoid the whole Newbury St. scene. read more

Supercuts - Catch up on the news while you wait. - Hair Salons Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

Awesome customer service and super friendly staff. 'Lucia' did a fantastic job with my hair. I was impressed by her attention to detail and patience. I'm definitely going back!! read more

This review is for 2 employees who USED to cut my hair at this location and always made me feel worse than when I came in, like a dog with a tail in between his legs. I am a confident professional woman with mid- to long length hair and this was my experience... Peter, the short Asian guy is so judgmental!!! You sit down in the chair and I would ask for a one to two-inch trim. Then, in typical hairstylist fashion, he starts asking questions about you, etc. I went to Supercuts to save money since I only needed a trim (to spend under $18 or so) as opposed to $40 elsewhere. Not worth the put-down. He started asking me where I lived and when I said South Boston he said: "South End?" Oh no, you shouldn't live in South Boston, I live in South End...uhh, who are you to judge me? You probably rent a tiny condo in S.E. which I really don't care about and I own a 9-room house you piece of work but then, I am not someone to throw that in his face. Just cut my hair and let me get out of here. There's not much to mess up with trimming an inch or two of the ends so it was OK but not spectacular. Again, the conversations with him (I went to him twice) were such a put down that I did not seek him again. The third time I went to this location, I went to Monday (or Monda), not sure of the spelling. She is an African American woman. I asked for an "angled long bob" just as the one Gwyneth Paltrow was rocking a while back. She started "educating" me that there is no such a thing as an long angled bob and cut of about 15 inches off my long hair, right underneath my ear to the point that it took 1.5 years (up to NOW) for me to grow it back!!!!!!!!! I will NEVER ever go back here again unless someone (a female) provides a review for someone who doesn't put customers down and can actually cut hair. I have since used BuyWithMe vouchers and Groupons to test out other salons on Newbury Street and Boylston Street. I haven't found my go-to person yet for haircuts but those whom I tried were at least not judgmental (but rather pleasant) and they did a good job and exactly what I asked for. Still, my budget is limited so I can't afford to go to a Newbury-style salon each month...That said, I won't be returning to Supercuts, that's for sure. read more

Biggest mistake I've ever made. After reading over the comments about how excellent this location was I was feeling confident about trying it for the first time.. Oh how wrong I was. After throughly explaining how I wanted my hair to be cut and showing 3 different pictures for references... I got the exact opposite. It's about 4inches shorter than I expressed I was comfortable going. It's incredibly crooked and uneven. Seeing the results brought tears to my eyes. It's such a bad cut that all I can do is wear it in a ponytail until it grows out. I walked in with incredibly long beautiful hair and left with a bowl cut and crying. Needless to say I will never go here for a haircut again. read more

Honestly this place sucks, and its sad because Marisol (one of the hair stylists) is awesome. I've been going here for a while but it's just awful. The front desk and receptionists here are worse than any other place in any business i've ever been to. You call and ask how long the wait is and they tell you 10 minutes and then you get there and it's an hour+. Or you schedule a walk in time (not necessarily an appointment time) and then they tell you that they have someone in the seat right now but it will only be 10-15 minutes, turns out there are 1 or 2 more people ahead of you waiting but they ignore telling you this until you've been sitting for 20-30 minutes. I have no problem waiting 15, 20 or even 30 minutes sometimes but at least tell me i'm going to have to wait so I can decide whether I have the time or not. Dont lie to me and wait til I've already wasted 20-30 minutes of my day and then tell me it will be another 30 minutes. It literally happens 90% of the time I go there. I wouldnt care if I had all the time in the world but I specifically try and go here during my lunch break from work or after work before going to my 2nd job. This place has absolutely no respect for their customers time. And before you think about saying "dude its a $16 haircut, calm down" trust me that's what has been keeping me going there for a while along with Marisol being awesome but I've been burned multiple times where I was told it would be a 10-15 minutes wait turned into 45 minutes and then i didn't have time to get a haircut because I had to go back to work and basically used my only break in 10-12 hour work days sitting in a F'n salon staring at my cell phone. Just not worth the stress to go back here. If you are unemployed or for some reason have all the time in the world go to this place because Marisol is great and it's cheap, but if you have a job and limited time let alone 2 jobs, stay away. I will gladly pay an extra $5 for surrounding places to get treated w/ respect and not have to deal the incompetant people working the desk. The girl with the long hair does an ok job at the front desk but the other 2 that i've seen there are the worst employees i've ever seen. Then after they realize they just wasted an hour of your time they just shrug it off and go back to clicking/texting away on their cell phones. read more

Great customer service and very polite staff. I regularly get my hair cut here by Dania who consistently does an amazing job and is an extremely talented hairstylist. I highly recommend Dania for all your future fades or haircuts! read more

Got my hair cut by Joyce, who was very nice. She made sure you got what you wanted each step of the way. Would definitely come back to get my hair cut by her again. read more

This was bad. I walked in, I was called shortly after (the only saving grace), the lady asked what style I wanted it, I told her the same style but slightly shorter. She began cutting and left barely an inch on. I told her it was WAY too short and she kept snipping. I am nearly bald. She didn't apologize. Then she said she would take off $2. This is not a place to go for quality service or hair cutting. Go to Hair Cuttery at Harvard Square- they're great for this price range. read more

Does anyone know where Helen, who was absolutely great, has gone? She left Supercuts.

I'm going to give big props to Helen. She is a hair goddess. She has many years of experience and just by sitting in the chair with her for five minutes, you know you're in good hands. She's really sweet, knowledgable, quick, meticulous and understands how your hair works. Back in April, I went to her to get my hair dyed a certain brown color (single process) and she explained to me how it would turn out if I did it that way and what not. Said it would actually take many attempts to get it to the way it was in the picture. Anyways, I trusted her and she managed to get my hair color exactly how she described it (based on my skin tone and all that jazz) the very first time and I LOVED it. My manager from work actually gets her hair done by her and recommended Helen to me. When Helen found that out, she asked me if the shade of brown she does on my manager was what I wanted too, and I said yes. She explained the process thoroughly and she is very precise on the timing of the dye. Never have I been happier to find a hairdresser who I know will be consistent and caring about my own hair than I am myself. I went back recently to retouch on my roots that were coming out and chop my hair short and Helen did a great job. She was actually really busy with clients back to back (I'm not surprised) so the girl in front told me there would be a 30 minute wait. I told them I didn't mind anyone else doing my hair as long as they pulled up my color card that I remember Helen had written down for me, but I guess they couldn't find it and ended up making me wait for Helen anyway. Wish they told me though because I would've stepped out to grab a small snack at like Walgreens or coffee at DD; I was starving. All in all, it was so worth the wait! read more

Based on all the reviews here, I made an appointment with Helen and I was not disappointed. I love my haircut and will be coming back because of her! read more

Helen did a great job on my hair - really listened to what I had to say and took it into account

The price was good, the haircut wasn't. Seriously, the worst haircut I ever paid for. I had to spend 15 minutes trimming my hair when I got home. It's not like I expected a different haircut, just that she didn't do a good job. I feel bad giving this place a bad rating since I didn't have to wait for more than 3 minutes and the lady was mad nice. It's just that the haircut looked like botched hair surgery. read more

This place is horrible!!!!!! DON"T GO!!! Messed up my hair so bad I had to go somewhere else to get it fixed.

Not to make these reviews sound like a broken record, but I just saw Helen for the first time, and she is fantastic at what she does. I paid $22.50 + tip for a shampoo, cut, and blow dry, but it honestly looks like I paid $80. I was nervous because it was a riskier hair cut than I am accustomed to, but she totally put me at ease, gave me an amazing cut, and finished with some fantastic hair care tips for my hair type and new style. I will definitely be going back. read more

Never go here. Even if they paid you it wouldn't be worth it. Worst haircut I have ever gotten, and the people are awful. When I got up and looked closely, I told my haircutter that she cut the sides differently. She said she did it on purpose. I'm now going to pay someone to fix her haircut. I wish there was such a thing as no stars. read more

Supercuts on Boylston gives a great haircut at a very reasonable price. Can't see going to one of these "exclusive" men's salons that have popped up and spending $100.00 for nothing better than I get at Supercuts. Fatima is my favorite stylist. read more

I've been a Supercuts customer for over 25 years and started going to the Boylston Street location about a year ago. I always check-in on line before hand because I know how busy this location can be. Checked in a full hour ahead of time for a 2:00 PM haircut. At 2:00 PM two guys walked in with me and the three of us were told to take a seat before anyone could check us in. No one was stationed at the front counter. A few minutes later, one of the stylists finished with her customer, cashed him out, then asked us to check in. The two guys who walked in with me freely admitted that they were walk-ins, while I said I had booked on-line. Then we were all told to take a seat and wait. In case you haven't figured it out yet, the walk-ins were both called before me. WHY OFFER ON-LINE CHECK-IN IF IT IS GOING TO BE IGNORED????? I effectively waited one hour to be skipped over by two other people. Horrible customer service. read more

I got an AWESOME haircut from Helen at this Supercuts the other day. I highly recommend her. She knew how to work with my very thick, wavy hair and I left with seriously one of the best cuts I've had in the past few years. And for fifteen bucks! I was very pleasantly surprised. read more

Barbers may be good, but everyone is so rushed quality is secondary.

I'm a girly girl who spends an hour getting ready in the morning and wears make up everyday. And I go to Supercuts, who would have guessed?! When you go for the first time it's a gamble, but if it works out, REMEMBER your stylist's name. Write it down if you have to. I have long hair and go to Cassie every time for a basic layered cut and I'm happy with it every time, and it's BETTER than the majority of cuts that I've gotten on Newbury St. Honestly no one can tell the difference. Plus, ladies pay the same price as men, you can't pass that deal up! read more

Best Cheap Hair Cut ever! I'm not too picky about my hair and it's difficult to find a decent barber/stylist. Even thought the people who work there are weird as hell, they do an amazing job cutting hair. I've been there a few times now over the past year and I hardly ever have to wait (if I do it's not more than 5 minutes) and always feel comfortable and happy with the outcome of my hair. read more

I went in for just a wash and blow-dry while on a get away from FL. Cassie gave me a terrific blow-dry. My hair is thick, wavy, and porous. Many hairdressers never actually get it dry, thus frizzy hair. But this girl did a terrific job. She made sure it was completely dry. Smooth and sleek! The only reason for 4 stars is that I actually thought that Supercuts would have been 7 to 8 dollars cheaper. The cost was the same as a blow-dry bar. read more

Desperate for a haircut today and since I'm new to the area, I was loathe to spend alot of money. Found out that they can cut African American hair and made an appointment with Adriana the same day. She was excellent!! Best $20 I've ever spent on a haircut and I will be seeing her every two weeks from now on! read more

I always walk out of this place feeling beautiful! After a disastrous haircut at a walk-in cheapie place in Cambridge, I came back to my old standby on Boylston Street and Diana worked her magic. She not only fixed the mess, but gave me all kinds of advice about what kind of cut I should always ask for and what kind of tools should NEVER be used on my fine hair - (i.e., razors) - the best advice I've gotten from any hairdresser in my 53 years. I will never, never trust my hair to any other salon! read more

I had a great experience with Supercuts this past weekend. Including tip, my wash, cut, and partial blow dry was $21. Ask for Laura. She's great. A cut without a wash or blow dry is about $16, a cut with a wash is $19, and include a blow dry it's up to about $46. But I had Laura and she still dried my hair because she wanted to see how her cut looked. It was a great experience. I've gotten my hair cut on Newbury Street many times, but none of them have ever paid as much attention to what I wanted or taken the time to make sure it was just right. I would recommend this place...and Laura :) read more

The best deal for a men's haircut in the area. Make sure that you do not get a newbie straight out of hairdressing school though!

I knew it was Supercuts, but I thought, "How much could they mess up a simple trim?" I guess, the answer was: a lot. I asked for an inch off, 1.5 inches max. They took off half of my hair. Keep in mind, my hair was down past half of my back, so I gave them a lot of room to mess up with. But I guess not enough room. My hair is barely past my shoulders now. I'm not sure when 1 inch turned into 5 or 6, but it's safe to say I'm devastated at the least. Not to mention my hair is super curly, so when it dries I look like a mushroom. Thanks supercuts. read more

This is a good example of what happens when you have children running a business. I entered at 4:20 pm on Sunday. I was asked my name and told someone would be with me. No one gave me a time estimate when I asked. There were 2 other people in front of me. Within a few minutes it appeared there was no one in charge. Instead of cutting hair two of the sylists were counting money and receipts and another appeared to be wandering around while people were waiting. The two in front were finally taken care of. Two others came in during that time and both were called before me. I was told that one called ahead. As an aside I believe that is a very poor policy during busy periods. How would you feel if you were waiting in a walk-in business and someone breezed by you? Not one person gave me the courtesy of a time estimate other than "I would be the next person called". The problem is that the person who said that then took another person and left me to wait for a person who was finishing a coloring job. A person who could have cut my hair told me she was "off duty". I finally left at 5:25. The person who was clueless was a short heavy set individual. It appears she deliberately took someone in front of me. No one person took the time to apologize. I asked for the managers name and was told her name was "Barbie" and that she was not in. I asked if there was a manager on duty and was told "no". I was left with the opinion that none of those in the store had been taught the most rudimentary elements of customer interaction. Put simply it appeared that they didn't care whether there were customers or not. Their behavior was shameful. I have been a regular customer since it opened but I assure you I will never patronize this store again. read more

I have been going to Boylston Supercuts for many, many years and have had recommended many people to either go to my stylist or one of my stylist's recommended stylists there( say that 10 times fast LOL), if she was too busy or wasn't there. I have not heard any complaints. I have been to Newbury St and been robbed out of the wallet for $65 or more for a cut along with a cup of coffee or tea with a stylist who has no interest in me but to cut my hair(not looking for friends at a salon but someone friendly w/personality and sense of humor would be nice, at least for the price of $65). At Supercuts Boylston St maybe not all, but the cut is $13.95 and the people(veterans stylists there) that work there are down to earth and definetly work there because they enjoy there job in making (most) people happy, some people we know can never make happy. Now us people who don't cut hair have different terminology from the professional stylists. So if you don't get what you want maybe you didn't explain yourself correctly or if you feel certain that the "stylist" is not grasping what you are explaining that you want why would you let them cut your hair anyway? Now if you do then you have nobody else to blame but you. I know its always easier to complain and point the finger and place the blame on someone else but you are going to be walking around with that ridculous haircut that you let happen even though you felt wrong about it before it was cut. Remember these people do not read minds nor want to or get paid enough to. So for people who know what they want and have a grip on life, I definetly would recommend this place for a haircut and a possiblity to build a great friendship or bond with your desired stylist there.Remember its not where you go, its who you go to that makes a difference. Oh! Of course there is going to be an hour wait at times its a super place to get a cut, now if there wasn't an hour wait you would question that too. read more
