I got my haircut which was not really a pleasant experience. She kept pulling my hair which was really annoying. Like seriously? Add more water to my hair to be able to comb it out. She cut off several inches & then tried to convince me she took an inch & a half. I obviously know how long my hair was before I came in so spare me in showing me what you think. To make it even worse I forgot to give them my coupon so I went back to redeem it & they said no. I was like what, are you for real? They told me to just use it next time. As if. I can't believe that they had me sit there for like 20+ min while they were too busy to essentially just tell me they wouldn't accept it. How rude. Never again. read more

I have always known that when you see "Supercuts" you stay away.... but against my better judgment I saw this location had decent reviews and it was in downtown Boston.. it must be good? WRONG! Very wrong Stay away at all costs... I'm not kidding you are better off letting a 4 year old cut your hair with those plastic safety scissors. I don't know if they lady who cut my hair had to feed the meter or something, but she cut my hair, start to finish, in 7 mins. Cut each section of my head one time and did NOT look back! I will never be back, in fact I will walk on the other side of the street when I walk past this place. Update: So I wanted to update my review from my previous harsh one. The District Leader reached out to me after my review just to get the full story on why I was so unhappy with the service I had received. She offered me to go back to get my hair adjusted at that location or any other location. She also without solicitation offered to refund my money, sure enough I received a check for my money back. This is a classy organization that clearly appreciates their customers and the services they provide. So for that I will absolutely try a different location. Helen is the only reason I go to Supercuts. She's incredibly nice and does a great job consulting before cutting/styling to make sure you understand your hair and what you're getting yourself into. She's extremely talented with over 17 years of experience under her belt, with over 10 of those years at one Supercuts or another. I only have 2 complaints: 1) She's so busy/popular, I literally have to book her first thing in the morning or I don't get a slot. 2) Whenever I get a cut+wash (usually mid-day since I'm probably not going home yet and I don't want to be itchy for the rest of the day), she misses a few hairs and they get in my undershirt and I end up being itchy and scratchy for the rest of the day. Since my last review I've been back maybe 3 times, twice for a trim and once for a full blown haircut; had three different barbers each time and every time I left extremely happy. The consistency of this location is amazing, every time I get exactly what I asked for and it's always an easy experience. I decided to play haircut roulette again at SuperCuts in Downtown Crossing because I have gotten 2 good cuts there and i figured I'd get lucky again and get three in a row. No such luck. I arrived a half hour before closing, which was probably my first mistake. Within the first scissor cut I knew this was a mistake. She seemed to cut my hair randomly, wildly, with no method to her madness. She was rough with me, and not in a good way. The way she clumsily handled the scissors and comb actually made me scared she was going to cut me by accident. At one point she was cutting my hair while talking to someone else and wasn't even looking at my hair so I pulled away as if to say "please look at my hair while you are cutting it", but she did not get the message. The end result was a haircut that was way too short, in a style that I didn't ask for. At 27 I should only be going to a certain person who I know I can trust and set up an appointment but I enjoy the spontaneity of a walk in appointment. Next time when Dellaria is not available for a walk in I need to be more patient and put it off for another day. But since I did get two good haircuts before the bad one I have to give SuperCuts 3 stars instead of 1. read more

I've been cutting my own hair for 6 years and today I felt too lazy to do it myself, so I decided to stop by Super Cuts before I head to work. It was kind of awkward walking through the door because there was no greeting. When I walked up to the front desk, there was still no greeting until after the employees have exchanged money (probably their tip for the day). But yeah afterwards I was asked for my name and was told I could be taken care of immediately. My hairstylist was a Vietnamese man who asked what cut I wanted. I showed him a picture of my previous hair and asked for a similar cut -an undercut and a trim on top. He worked very quickly and preciously. We conversed here and there but whether or not I have a conversation with my stylist doesn't bother me (tbh I'd rather let my stylist concentrate in silence) I was very satisfied with the speed of service (haircut took under 15 mins. -though I had short hair to begin with) and satisfied with the final product of my hair. (Basically the same results I get when I do it myself) The total was $16 something and I gave him a $20 and called it a day. Pretty cheap I think. Would I go back? I definitely would! But since I cut my own hair, I wouldn't unless I was feeling lazy again. TL;DR: Super fast service (under 10-15 mins for short men's undercut) Fairly cheap, affordable read more

Having been a while since my last cut, and needing something a little less expensive then the Dellaria's next door, I called up for a dry cut. Said they could get me right in and taken care of, awesome! Headed over and was seated immediately which was great since I was on my lunch break. Unfortunately, I've forgot my stylists name in the kind of embarrassing haze that clouded my appointment. She grabbed my hair and started brushing and just looked at me with a face that just read, " Gross." She said she'd prefer to wash my hair first due to whatever was in it. I apparently I hadn't gotten all my leave in conditioner out this morning. She continued to talk about my build up at the sink which mortified me. I just kept saying it was a new product I was using that my hair wasn't reacting well to-coconut oil. It builds up in my hair, yes. We then head over to the chair where she tells me, " There's build up in my brush. Going to have to throw this away." No waiting till I'm gone. No just tossing it and leaving at that. She honestly had to tell me that she HAD to throw it away. Thankfully we both just stayed silent pretty much after that, which I enjoy honestly. The haircut was fabulous. I had to get a blow dry because of how cold it was out today, another reason I wanted a dry cut, but man my hair is like Silk and the layered cut I asked for was spot on. I just wish we could have avoided the whole mortifying hair brush saga. There's a way to tell someone nicely, without a face when she originally touched my hair. Just go " hey, I'd prefer washing your hair. We need something clarifying in there to take care of some of this residue." Would have been fine! This has been my go to place for almost three years and they know me by name. Over the years I've asked them if they do a reduced price just to clean up the edges, and they always say yes. Like most busy people I realize I could use a little touch up along the edges between a full haircut, but of course that thought always slips my mind. However, today was different. With thanksgiving just two days away I thought I would go for a simple touch up along the edges. I saw my regular guy, told him I just needed the sides cleaned and he did a great job that lasted a total of four minutes. After this I straightened out my tie, pulled out my wallet and that's when he charged me for a full haircut. A little shocked I asked him for clarity on this situation as that trim lasted just four minutes. He explained that because he used the buzzards, its a full haircut. I reminded him that 80% of my head was not touched. This went no where... After being a loyal patron and generous tipper, it is time to find a new shop. I had a horrible and super inconvenient experience attempting to get a haircut at this place. I called 3 hours ahead of time today in order to "make an appointment" to get my hair cut. I asked the woman who answered the phone if I could make an appointment, she said yes and what time, I told her 3pm and she said that 3pm was available and took my name said "you are all set". When I arrived there at 3pm, the person at the desk told me that I just needed to wait a little before being attended. 10min passed by and I asked again how much longer would the wait be, then two of the people working there started arguing with me that they DON"T make appointments there and that even if I called in advance and put my name in for a certain time, that is not considered an actual appointment and that I needed to wait in line after all of the people who just walked in, because, as they put it, they "try to make it fair"... Are you kidding me??? If I called and they told me I could make an appointment for a certain time, AND they write my name for that time and say I'm all set to come in at that time, I'm sorry but THAT IS an appointment! Otherwise why would you even bother calling?! I told them that it's fine if they don't take appointments but in that case they have to tell the people calling ahead that they DON'T make appointments and be clear with them rather than telling them that they are all set for their appointment at 3pm. The fact that they gave me an appointment on the phone is really misleading and inconvenient. They were basically arguing with me and acting like if I was wrong or an inconvenience to them. At the end they just said that If i didn't want to wait then I could leave. I had deliberately called ahead thinking I was going to be attended around 3pm BECAUSE I had somewhere else to be after that, so they basically wasted a lot of my time. They seemed to not understand that people make an appointment expecting to be attended at their appointment time. I basically waited 20min and had to leave with no haircut because I had to get to work. I wasted over an hour of my day for nothing. And besides that, these people were unbelievably rude and wouldn't acknowledge their mistake in misleading me. It almost seems they do it on purpose to lure people in. Disgusting business strategy. Then I moved out of Boston and recently relocated here for work. The moment I looked up the closest super cuts in downtown crossing near my office and saw her name on over a dozen reviews my eyes lit up, I picked up the phone and secured an appointment with her immediately. She listens, understands, explains back and then does a amazing job. I'm so sad. Another bad hair experience right in Downtown Crossing. I went in around 4:55pm to beat the rush so I hardly had to wait (maybe like 6 mins?). I was treated by Ruthie who was super sweet. First she did my eyebrow waxing, and did a pretty good job. She let me give her advice about what I thought of it and what else she could do to make me like it better. Then she shampooed my hair. I told her I had a sensitive scalp so she was super gentle. She did a good job. Then she cut my hair. I told her I didn't want to take much off - just a good trim and she respected that. Usually if you say that they will still chop a bunch off but she didn't and the cut looks great. At first I said I just wanted a shampoo and cut for $19 but then because we had time before my train came I said let's do a blow-dry too. So she blow dried and styled it. It looked great. I was so happy! Then when she rang me up at the cash register the total was way more than I thought! The shampoo, blow dry, and cut ending up being $48.95 + tip! On the board it said it was $24.95 and up. That's already $5 marked up from the $19 cut and shampoo. So who would think my blow-dry would be an additional $24 !!!!! This is ridiculous and a scam. If they are going to jack up their prices so much they need to let you know. When I told her that I was interested in getting a blow-dry she should have told me what the cost would be. I assumed I was only paying $24.95 + the $10 for my eyebrow waxing + tip. I feel cheated, I ended up paying $29 for a blow-dry. The total was $68.95 after tip! I was so happy with my cut and I thought we bonded and then to have this happen at the very end. I left feeling very sad and she knew this and yet didn't offer to waive any of the fees. If I had known I was going to pay $48.95 for a hair cut I could have gone to a better salon. But this is Supercuts -they are famous for being quick and cheap. It's a shame they treat people this way. They are going to loose their future customers if they continue to do this. The only way I feel like I would consider going back is if my $24 is refunded. RIDICULOUS! read more

I was nervous going in to this haircut today as I've seen mixed reviews about all the supercuts in the boston area. I really needed a decent haircut as I'm going to a couple of formal events this weekend but I am also broke and cannot afford a fancy salon. I was also taking a chance with this one because there were only 3 reviews on here, but I was in the area and didn't feel like spending extra time communiting to the supercuts with more reviews. I have to say, I was very pleased! I ordered the plain supercut... no shampoo, no styling, no frills, just 16.95 for a cut. The stylist Caitlin got me into the chair immediately (around 6pm on Wednesday) but I did not feel like she was rushing me through at all. She asked me what I wanted and proceeded to take her time to cut my hair exactly as I had described, even though I was a little vague. I'm not the best at explaining hairstyles, so I love when stylists just kind of know what you're talking about! The right amount of length was taken off, overall and with the layers. She was pleasant to converse with but also seemed to be focused on doing the cut well. I was also glad to not be pressured into buy any products (probably because I said I was poor in the beginning!). I left feeling confident that it would look good once I washed and styled my hair myself (it did). So overall, not the most amazing haircut I've ever had, but perfectly fine! Just to set the tone, I don't let just anyone cut my hair (especially at Supercuts). I grew up outside NYC so a proper fade and blend is hard to come by in New England. Additionally, I work in Back Bay for a financial institution. Traveling to this location during lunch is a huge inconvenience, so there must be a distinct motivating factor. Helen, is that factor. She is professional, efficient, talented, and extremely friendly. Her knowledge of cut types and how to maintain them is unlike anything I have ever experienced; it also punctuates her honesty. It's rare to find a place that hits the trifecta of quality, price, and speed but this Supercuts is exactly that! Not only are they are in a convenient location, but I'm in and out in under 15 minutes every time. Perfect for trying to get a haircut on your lunch break! Doesn't matter which stylist that helps you, they are all professional and attentive to your requests. They don't usually ask if I want a shampoo at the end but I typically go during the lunch hour anyways so I don't expect them to, and they would happily do it f I asked. They always finish it off with a hot towel. Competitively priced as well at $18 for a mens cut before tip! Recommend to anyone! read more
