Niamh listens to what you're looking for and is extremely efficient without skipping out in the overall salon experience. She makes sure that your vision is accomplished before you leave the chair. I've been coming here to see Michelle for about 5 years for a single process and cut and I always leave extremely happy. She does amazing work and is fun to chat with. The owner Sheyda is also a wonderful woman. Love that I can book an appointment online and the value for the cost is great. Covid Note: They are taking extra safety precautions. I was initially worried to venture out just to get my hair done, but: 1. Everyone walking in the door gets their temperature checked 2. Everyone inside is required to wear a mask during the entire visit 3. There is hand sanitizer everywhere 4. When the receptionist wasn't at the desk she was walking around cleaning read more

I have been seeing Michelle at Del Ara Salon for balayage and haircuts the last 4 years since I moved back to Boston and highly recommend her! I was so nervous when I moved to Boston that I wouldn't be able to find someone who could color my hair as well as I had it done in NYC, and am SO grateful after some research that I found Michelle! She is kind and welcoming and takes the time to listen to exactly how you want your hair done. She is meticulous and takes her time to give you the best quality color, and she makes the process enjoyable. Del Ara is always clean and has a welcoming and fun vibe. And as a bonus, it's a woman-owned and run business! Shaida, the owner, is incredible! :) read more

I've been seeing Marnie for over a year now and she has absolutely transformed my hair! When I first came into Del Ara, I had a lopsided home haircut and my hair was destroyed from years of bleach and Sun In. Marnie gave me a great cut and helped me get on the path to healthy hair. The first time she colored my hair I could not believe how amazing it looked! Everyone at my wedding couldn't stop commenting how great my hair color was. My hair is a big part of my identity and I'm so lucky to have found someone as talented and knowledgable as Marnie. On top of all that, she's one of the nicest people I've ever met! I can never thank Marnie enough for all she's done for me. read more

I have never dyed my hair before in my life but I wanted to finally switch things up for college. I thought maybe if I gave a local place around my job a chance, they'd do me good. But they completely messed up my hair and I was left a zebra with different shades of yellow and green. I was left speechless and asked for them to return me my money. I had nowhere to go and only a few days before school started. I looked on yelp to see where I could go to fix this mess and that's where I found Del Ara Salon. I am so happy I found this place because although she does not take in between clients, she pushed me in for the same day, yet did not rush on her work. She was gentle and very kind as well. She went on explaining everything I needed to know and always checked up on me to make sure I was alright. This place left my hair amazing, and I think I found my new favorite spot to go to. You will not be disappointed going here, they not only give great service, they make you feel welcomed. read more

I am posting on behalf of a friend, who had a traumatic experience at this salon. I'll start by saying this place came well recommended to her and reinforced with all the positive reviews online. Yet the experience she had was 10/10 would not recommend. What should have been a simple gloss that took no more than 45mins-one hour max has ended up as easily two years worth of damage that needs to be fixed and hundreds of dollars. The stylist was unable to get it together, left my friend in the chair (with permanent dye in her hair instead of a gloss) well over the allotted time because she was unable to get it together and left the washing responsibilities up to the receptionist, who did not know how to wash the dye out and ended up just spraying water all over my friend. She did not have any other clients at this time and spent over thirty minutes in the bathroom and when she came back, could barely keep her eyes open and started ranting about how the pandemic was a scam and kids don't want to work anymore. This appointment should have been an hour and a half max; she was there for two and a half hours, most of which was spent unattended to in a chair until the receptionist came to give her a shower. Now, instead of going back to her natural brown hair color, her hair is black and not even close to her natural shade of brown. Michelle paid no mind to the fact that she dyed her hair black instead of a medium shade of brown full well knowing black was NOT the endgame color. And now my friend will have to spend years in color correcting treatments to blend her hair color in with the black dye as her roots grow in. So thank you so much for not only ruining her hair, but also leaving her with the impression that she can't trust a professional (and that term is loosely being used here) to treat her hair. Oh, and she almost didn't cut half her hair and my friend had to question it before the blow dryer was used. Thanks a lot! read more

I've had several great experiences at Del Ara Salon - most of them with Michelle. Most recently,I went in looking to change things up with my color and to take about 5-6 inches off of my length. As usual, Michelle took the time to thoroughly discuss my color options and we opted for two glosses to create some dimension in my hair. In addition to knowing color well, Michelle is methodical with her cuts. She takes care to ensure that all pieces are even, often going back after the blow dry for touch-ups and "texturizing". It is this attention to detail that I appreciate so much and will keep me coming back to Del Ara Salon. Additionally, Shaida has worked wonders with my eyebrows and I have since sworn off waxing! read more

I've been seeing Marnie for almost a year and my hair has never looked better. My hair is long and its texture is coarse, and after some damage on my ends (from lack of professional trimming due to the pandemic) Marnie has helped me get on the path to healthy and nourished hair via trimming and products. I followed each of her recommendations and they all worked - I am extremely satisfied with her advice! She is knowledgable and sweet and also authentic, meaning she does not recommend product just for the sake of selling product. She knew what would work on my hair and has given me great advice. 14/10 fully recommend. read more

It was my first time going to this salon today and I loved it! It's very clean and stylish inside, and the staff are so nice and welcoming. OMG. Can not speak highly enough of this place. Came in on a whim based on Yelp reviews and proximity to my place. Pleasantly please from the beginning. Very nice people and cute salon. Taking all the COVID precautions. She did an AMAZING job on my hair. I'd have to say it's the best haircut I've ever gotten. She's never cut my hair so from the beginning she took it slow and stopped to ask and show many times along the way. Highly highly recommend getting your hair cut here!! 10/10 read more

Great place. I've been going here for 3 years and Shaida is amazing -- a great cut every time! I highly recommend.

This has been my second time here and Eric truly does wonders with my hair! I have thick black Iranian hair and have always had trouble finding stylists that know how to work with it in such a ways that the style keeps. The last time he styled it was over 6 months ago and it still looks good now! He gives good advise as to what would work with your hair and face-shape, but also is honest about how much work certain hairstyles are going to take to recreate in the morning;) I live in the Netherlands but visit this salon every time I'm here in Boston! Definitely worth my while! X Mantre read more

I recently went to Del Ara for the first time. I could not have been more pleased. I needed a full foil, highlights and a haircut. I have very curly hair and have had some bad haircuts in my day. My hair stylist that I had gone to for years moved away and I was a little nervous to try someone new. My appointment was with Shaida. She is very knowledgeable about all things relating to hair and patiently explained what she felt I needed to restore my damaged hair to health. I was in the Salon for several hours but the results were definitely worth it. The color and highlights were gorgeous and the haircut was perfect. I also had my eyebrows threaded which was a plus! Thanks Shaida and Marnie for a terrific blowout. read more

I really enjoyed my experience here! Great haircut with Shaida, she really listened to me and checked with me throughout the haircut to make sure it was what I wanted. We love that! I am finally ready to talk about it. I have had pretty bad color done in the past but this experience takes the cake. When my stylist (I'm not going to publicly share her name because I understand this is her career) spun me around to check out "the best ombré she had ever done (!!!!)" I just about died. I actually walked home with my hood on because I was so embarrassed. The splotchiness of the foils made my hair look like leopard print, and the bottom of my hair was left a dry bleached disaster. I am beyond shocked by the five star reviews here, so I felt obligated to go public with this picture so that no one else has the experience that I did. To make matters worse, I received really poor customer service and the owner kept calling Groupon freaking out and trying to cancel the flash sale because too many people were using it (myself included). Talk about unprofessional. I tell all my friends to avoid this place like the plague and I urge you to do the same. read more

Del Ara Salon - Thanks Del Ara..... - Hair Salons Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

I was in Boston recently and had time to take care of my hair! I was staying at The Marriott Longwharf and found Del Ara Salon via Yelp! The Salon is in the Northern "Italian District" and a nice walk from the hotel. I passed by Paul Revere's home on the way... Jenna was fabulous, she did a great job on my hair, from color to cut to style she did it all, including a head and neck massage. I was very happy with her service and treatment of me! She is a very talented colorist, letting me know each step of the way what she was doing... I highly recommend this salon--If I was local I would return again and again. From the time I walked in and was offered a cup of coffee until I left it was a great experience! Thanks Jenna! read more

This is by far the best salon I've ever been to and I've tried a lot of them over the years. I spent a year going to another salon when I first moved to Boston before I felt increasingly robbed. When you leave a salon feeling like all the money you forked over was somehow not worth it, that's a sure sign that you need to find a new stylist. I always feel I get my money's worth here which is often hard to find because color and highlights aren't cheap and always so well done. I somehow stumbled upon this gem. Kristen did such an amazing job when I went blonde, I was beyond happy. She's been doing my color ever since. Recently Amanda did my hair extensions and honestly, my hair has never looked this good in my entire life. She did quite a brilliant job. I cannot recommend this place enough!! The girls are all really nice and friendly too. Oh yea, Mai does lashes just as brilliantly too!! I got a million compliments on how gorgeous and natural they looked. read more

Del Ara Salon - Wash and blow dry for long hair by Michelle! - Hair Salons Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

I have previously written a review about Shaida's amazing handwork with my eyebrows. But this review is for her haircuts and styling. My hair was long, SO DRY and completely dead. I hadnt gotten a haircut in over a year (shame on me, i know). But after being so pleased with Shaida's work on my eyebrows, and seeing her clientel every time i went in, i decided to give shaida a try with my hair. I truly coudlnt be happier. My first time around, I asked to keep the length the same but to add more layers and cut off some dead ends. in a matter of 20 minutes, Shaida did exactly what i asked her to do! My hair looked and felt healthier with more volume and body. When i went home, I realized that even though my hair look absolutely fabulous (see picture attached and my instagram review on her products @glamourcosmetics_ ) what I actually wanted was more face framing layers as my hair still looked too long and dragging for my skinny face. I called Shaida two days later and she took me in for a haircut, free of charge, and cut layers framing my face. She also advised that i cut off just a couple inches off the length to blend it in well with my new face framing layers. I was hesitant, but i completely trust Shaida so i went with it! OH- EM- GEE i couldnt stop smiling. I AM SO HAPPY WITH MY NEW HAIR! shadia works magic! face framing layers, while still keepin my hair long (almost to my lower back), i just couldnt be happier. SHAIDA YOU ROCK MY WORLD! =) read more
