I am posting on behalf of a friend, who had a traumatic experience at this salon. I'll start by saying this place came well recommended to her and reinforced with all the positive reviews online. Yet the experience she had was 10/10 would not recommend. What should have been a simple gloss that took no more than 45mins-one hour max has ended up as easily two years worth of damage that needs to be fixed and hundreds of dollars. The stylist was unable to get it together, left my friend in the chair (with permanent dye in her hair instead of a gloss) well over the allotted time because she was unable to get it together and left the washing responsibilities up to the receptionist, who did not know how to wash the dye out and ended up just spraying water all over my friend. She did not have any other clients at this time and spent over thirty minutes in the bathroom and when she came back, could barely keep her eyes open and started ranting about how the pandemic was a scam and kids don't want to work anymore. This appointment should have been an hour and a half max; she was there for two and a half hours, most of which was spent unattended to in a chair until the receptionist came to give her a shower. Now, instead of going back to her natural brown hair color, her hair is black and not even close to her natural shade of brown. Michelle paid no mind to the fact that she dyed her hair black instead of a medium shade of brown full well knowing black was NOT the endgame color. And now my friend will have to spend years in color correcting treatments to blend her hair color in with the black dye as her roots grow in. So thank you so much for not only ruining her hair, but also leaving her with the impression that she can't trust a professional (and that term is loosely being used here) to treat her hair. Oh, and she almost didn't cut half her hair and my friend had to question it before the blow dryer was used. Thanks a lot! read more

My hair is long and its texture is coarse, and after some damage on my ends (from lack of professional trimming due to the pandemic) Marnie has helped me get on the path to healthy and nourished hair via trimming and products. This has been my second time here and Eric truly does wonders with my hair! I have thick black Iranian hair and have always had trouble finding stylists that know how to work with it in such a ways that the style keeps. The last time he styled it was over 6 months ago and it still looks good now! I recently went to Del Ara for the first time. I could not have been more pleased. I needed a full foil, highlights and a haircut. I have very curly hair and have had some bad haircuts in my day. My hair stylist that I had gone to for years moved away and I was a little nervous to try someone new. My appointment was with Shaida. She is very knowledgeable about all things relating to hair and patiently explained what she felt I needed to restore my damaged hair to health. This is by far the best salon I've ever been to and I've tried a lot of them over the years. I spent a year going to another salon when I first moved to Boston before I felt increasingly robbed. When you leave a salon feeling like all the money you forked over was somehow not worth it, that's a sure sign that you need to find a new stylist. I always feel I get my money's worth here which is often hard to find because color and highlights aren't cheap and always so well done. I somehow stumbled upon this gem. Kristen did such an amazing job when I went blonde, I was beyond happy. She's been doing my color ever since. Recently Amanda did my hair extensions and honestly, my hair has never looked this good in my entire life. She did quite a brilliant job. I cannot recommend this place enough!! I am finally ready to talk about it. I have had pretty bad color done in the past but this experience takes the cake. When my stylist (I'm not going to publicly share her name because I understand this is her career) spun me around to check out "the best ombré she had ever done (!!!!)" I just about died. I actually walked home with my hood on because I was so embarrassed. The splotchiness of the foils made my hair look like leopard print, and the bottom of my hair was left a dry bleached disaster. I am beyond shocked by the five star reviews here, so I felt obligated to go public with this picture so that no one else has the experience that I did. To make matters worse, I received really poor customer service and the owner kept calling Groupon freaking out and trying to cancel the flash sale because too many people were using it (myself included).
