Vina did an excellent job on my pedicure and on replacing two broken nail tips. The pedicure itself…read morewas reasonably priced, and I was very happy with the quality of her work. Unfortunately, my experience at checkout left a very different impression. I was initially charged $53 for two replacement nail tips, which seemed extraordinarily high. When I questioned the charge, it was reduced to $43, but I still found that excessive for such a minor service. This was my first visit, and while I appreciated Vina's work, the pricing for the nail repairs felt unreasonable and left me feeling taken advantage of. I would strongly recommend confirming the cost of any add-on services before they are performed. For what I paid for two replacement tips, I could have gone to my regular salon and received a full manicure. Great technician, but disappointing and unexpected pricing. Buyer beware.

I've been seeing Anh at BackBay Skincare almost every month this year for hydrafacials, and I can…read morehonestly say it's completely transformed my skin. It feels like one of those secrets you almost don't want to share because she's that good. I've been to all the "fancy" and overhyped spas in Boston, and nothing compares--those places feel like a lot of promises without results. With Anh, I get instant and lasting benefits every single time. My skin is clearer, healthier, and I've gotten more compliments this year than I ever have. She also takes the time to recommend products that actually work for me, which has made such a difference in keeping my skin on track between visits. If you're looking for results-driven skincare in Boston, this is the place. Anh is truly a hidden gem.

This spa has a great vibe, friendly staff, and cozy and comfortable rooms…read more Unfortunately I am not leaving a 5 star review because while I did get a quality massage, the area I wanted to focus on received minimal attention. I purposely had a sport massage as it "targets a specific area of the body that is more vulnerable to injury or stress". At the beginning I said my left quad needed attention ('ve been in pain for about 2 weeks now). Perhaps I wasn't clear. The massage I received was a full body massage which included my upper back/shoulders where I hold a lot of tense. It was beneficial but as I understand it, it was not what I signed up for. During the massage, I asked if she would do my quads too. She did towards the end. Unfortunately I left the spa with the same pain in my left hip and quad that I walked in with. I wasn't expecting to be pain free, but I had hope for some kind of change

I've gotten my hair done here before but my experience today with Melissa Perea was not great…read more I came in for an all over color, nothing complicated like balayage. I was there for 4 hours and came out with identical hair. The dye also got on my forehead, ears, and neck. Melissa helped clean it up on my forehead after I asked. I suggest finding another salon that respects your body and time. Attached is my hair after the appointment, and the reference I showed them.

I recently saw Luis for a Brazilian (Manzilion? Nah, Brazilian is gender inclusive enough I think)…read more I generally think of a Brazilian as removing all the hair in the area, but in this case I wanted to keep some hair above for a somewhat more natural, masculine look. In any case, this is the only the second time I've had waxing done and I absolutely wanted Luis to do the work, and I'll explain why: First of all Luis was thorough and professional in explaining the options and procedure in advance, and made sure I was completely informed and comfortable with the process. Second, the environment he works in is great. High ceilings, lots of natural light, homey and comfortable. Also I like that he is a sole practitioner so it's completely private. This was especially important to me the first time I went to him since it's such an intimate procedure. He immediately made me feel comfortable and relaxed. Third, he did a great job! Thorough and artful. Exactly what I was hoping for. If this is your first time getting waxed you should know, yes, it looks great, but even better is the results feel amazing - so superior to shaving. Super smooth and more sensitive. Even when the hair grows back no stubble, which I find very uncomfortable. Anyway, if you're thinking about it do it, and have Luis do the job. The experience and results are amazing.

The rates seem reasonable to me and they take the time to do the work well, but they're also quite efficient. I've never had to wait past my appointment time and despite having a fair amount of waxing done I'm usually out of there in half an hour. They are on the sixth floor of their building and coming and going feels very anonymous. Probably not important to most people, but if you want to wax on the DL that's another reason to go, LOL. I had been to a location in Washington DC several years ago, and haven't heard from them since, so this must have been fate! I have had so many bad waxes in the last two years, but decided to take one more chance and booked online with Jenelle (based on a couple of reviews on Yelp). My appt was at 9:15 on a Saturday morning, so there was no wait at all and the salon was quiet. Jenelle is really nice and did an AMAZING job - not one single stray hair for me to tweeze (which is not a problem for me, but I have left a few visits elsewhere practically needing to go somewhere the next day... no exaggeration) and no wax residue on me either. If you have ever had wax stuck to you the next day that just will not come off, you know how exciting this was for me! Payment was quick and easy, they allow a tip to be left on your credit card, but I like to give cash. Thanks Jenelle, and see you next time!

I had eyebrows, upper and lower lip, and chin done last Sunday. The technician had a nice demeanor,…read morebut her technique left me with sores (that soon turned into scabs) on my lower lip and eyebrow area. Instead of using a single swift pull, this technician (Sheila) used a series of small pulls, which I believe led to the sores. But I'm not sure about that. What I can say is that I'm in my mid-50s, have been waxing for decades, and have never been left with sores/scabs. So this issue is distinct to this visit to EWC in Brookline, MA (and I've been to several others in the area). Additionally troubling is that I wrote a note to EWC stating the above to no avail, even offering to send them photos that I'd taken. Not only did no one contact me, I know they received my complaint because I got a follow-up survey inquiring as to my satisfaction regarding the efficacy of their follow-up. Incredible! You can't make this stuff up. I've even checked Junk, thinking "surely not, surely *someone* would have written back; maybe it went into the Spam folder." Nope. Non. Nada. Anyway, the woman at the front desk was lovely, friendly, chatty, and very welcoming. Despite that, unless I want more scabs, returning to this EWC seems unwise and so I won't.
