This spa has a great vibe, friendly staff, and cozy and comfortable rooms. Unfortunately I am not leaving a 5 star review because while I did get a quality massage, the area I wanted to focus on received minimal attention. I purposely had a sport massage as it "targets a specific area of the body that is more vulnerable to injury or stress". At the beginning I said my left quad needed attention ('ve been in pain for about 2 weeks now). Perhaps I wasn't clear. The massage I received was a full body massage which included my upper back/shoulders where I hold a lot of tense. It was beneficial but as I understand it, it was not what I signed up for. During the massage, I asked if she would do my quads too. She did towards the end. Unfortunately I left the spa with the same pain in my left hip and quad that I walked in with. I have a membership here which is a great deal on monthly weekday massages. It's a friendly, relaxing space and I always feel like a new person after I visit! All of the therapists are great although Lucy is a genius. Street parking is pretty good and it's close to the Kenmore stop. I had a 60 minute deep tissue massage here on a Sunday afternoon. I was able to book it online very easily. They offered me tea and water while I waited for my appointment because I was a few minutes early. Inside the room, everything is clean and calm. Aveda has been my curly hair BBF for the last 15 years especially in the summer when my hair takes a beating with the sun. When I ran out of my Be Curly arsenal (Aveda also carries products for non-curly hair folks) during my recent Ogunquit vacay, I savagely looked for hair salons that carry the line, but came up empty. Since we had to make a few stops in Boston anyway before heading home, I was excited Sway in the Kenmore area popped up. FYI ladies...while some say their wavy hair is 'curly', wavy hair is wavy hair. Sorry to bust your bubble. And curly hair is....curly hair whether they're tight, corkscrew or coily. I've easily purchased my Aveda products that are distributed at local hair salons- but you can also buy products at exclusive Aveda 'concept' or 'lifestyle' salons or spas such as Sway- that have the entire Spa package PLUS products. As with many exclusive Aveda spas, Sway continues with that same serene energy. My visit was purely in and out when I tried to pick up a Sun Care Protective Hair Veil (were all out), Be Curly Curl Enhancer (this was out too) and Humectant. Even though Sway isn't a hair salon and have a limited Aveda hair supply, they're pretty much a one-stop spa complete with massage, skincare and wax services. BUYER BEWARE. This is not an Aveda Spa - they do not use real aveda products in the treatment. They refill Aveda bottles. The couples day spa massage/facial combo requires you to get up and switch beds with your partner so you share sheets. They massage over sheets. Spend your $550 elsewhere. I brought up the false advertisement to the owner. He was open and interested to hear my concern. I understand small business want to do their best; but skimping on product, laundry AND falsely advertising is not the way to go. You set your practitioners up for failure. Integrity should be honoured. Notice that much of their advertising, SEO, key words, signage and store decor still state " Aveda spa " which is extremely deceptive. Sway away from the stress and fast pace of the daily routine at... Sway Spa. Sway offers a ton of services at competitive prices in downtown Boston. My wife and I had a couples massage which came in around $300 before tip. The scheduling, check-in, and payment process was beyond simple which I've found is NOT the case in many of these boutique or ala carte style spas. We even had to make a change to the appointment and it was all able to be done online, without ANY hassle. The massage itself was fantastic. Both professionals were experts in finding the trouble spots, applying perfect pressure, and creating a totally relaxing atmosphere. There was no mindless chit-chat or disruption while they executed their craft, which we both appreciated. The space was fragrant (in a good way!), quiet, the perfect temp, and each room was spacious and not cramped - which is a vastly overlooked attribute if you've not experienced a massage in a cramped space where the professional has issues moving about and navigating the bed/table. They offer many other services, but we have not tried those yet. My wife was excited after our experience to give some of the others a try, but we didn't want to go "all in" with multiple services before a trial run. If you are looking for the "full day" experience, Sway isn't going to be high on you list. However, for a more ala carte or single service spa it is one of my favorites in Boston. Give it a shot, but I'm not going to sway to the competition for the services offered here ;) read more

Amazing Brazilian waxes- I always go with Sweta as she is amazing! She treats her customers as her friends as is extremely friendly and comfortable to be around. Furthermore, she remembers exactly what I want from the previous visit so there's never an issue. In terms of what to expect upon arrival: it's on the lower level of a building (as seems to be most shops on the block) so keep your eyes peeled for the green lettering. You go down and there's soft gentle music playing and and a nice spa(?) smell. The place is a nice temperature (cool in the summer and warm in the winter) and the receptionist usually offers you a glass of infused water. There usually isn't a wait at all (even when I come a bit earlier than my apt.) and the system for scheduling appointments online is extremely easy to use. Highly recommend booking early as the good times fill up quickly! read more

Both times I received a massage from Sherrie (I hope that's how it's spelt). She gave me a Swedish massage both times and I felt amazing afterwards. I could of taken a nap afterwards! She deserves credit and recognition for her services, she's is so lovely! I have one small suggestion. Both times I have noticed that I can hear the staff or people in general talking outside of the massage room. I don't mean like quiet like I can hear full loud conversations and laughter. Now I know it's a work place and people want to chat but I feel as though my massage would of been perfect if I didn't hear loud conversations and laughter. I was going to brush it off but it happened two different times during my massages. I guess maybe I'm one of those people who like a zen quiet space during a massage so maybe I'm being a bit much. My friend and I scheduled 90 minute massages as part of a girls' day. Our massages were fantastic. Jamie was my therapist and she worked through many tight areas in my back, legs and arms. I was really happy that the pressure was just right for me, and she checked in with me to make sure the pressure was what I wanted in each area she worked on. She also asked about pressure in a way that I would feel comfortable asking for more or less. The ambiance was relaxing, and we were lucky enough to find street parking right on Commonwealth Ave. The owner was fun to talk to, and he really cares about giving clients a wonderful experience.
