Excellent painless Brazilians! Extremely calm and comfortable as always, of course. The only worry is that it's on the third floor of the building, which has no elevator access. I have a mobility disability, so this is a heads-up to plan extra time to get upstairs for your appointment if you're a bit slower than average. read more

Total Skin Care gives the best facial I have ever had! It is the most fantastic gift that I give myself once a month with Neira. It is so very relaxing and my skin has improved so much over the last three years. The salon is immaculate, and Neira is always very attentive to my facial with good suggestions of products for care at home. Try out her facial and you will forever go back for more. Neira, who now owns the salon is amazing. Best facial I've ever had and she is focused on taking the time to address the little thing like a stray hair without being asked. The salon is spotless and amazing clean. I leave feeling totally relaxed and my ski looks amazing! Her waxing skills are also great. One of the best salons in the Commonwealth Ave area! You will not be disappointed! read more

One of the best waxing experiences I've had! The salon is very clean and Neira was very kind and professional. She made sure to take her time and really focus on the details rather than doing a large area at once. She even went into all the little ingrown hairs and took care of my skin as well. I love the ambience and the way they handle their customer service. Definitely the best in Boston! Currently they are not taking credit cards, so make sure to bring cash, or use zelle/Cashapp. read more

Hopefully this review will help others avoid what I'm now going through! Please carefully consider receiving electrolysis from this business, as I had a very disappointing experience. While Rosemary is very pleasant interpersonally, the treatments I received from her were extremely ineffective and made my hair situation significantly worse. I wasted time and money, I would like to help others avoid this mistake. - I went to Rosemary for 24 electrolysis treatments, saw no improvements, and my hair was much worse than when I started. My hair was significantly darker and coarser than before I started the treatments. I now know it's because the treatments I was receiving were not being done correctly. - I have had to start over with another electrologist to treat the small area of hair I had planned to get treated. Now that I've changed locations, I am receiving much more effective treatments and seeing significant results. - I shared this information with Rosemary and have received no refund or compensation to make this situation right. read more

Total Skin Care is absolutely the best place for waxing. I have been a client of the owner, Barbara, for almost 30 years. She is a waxing guru, very skilled and experienced. She only hires the best people who she trains to be as meticulous as she is. Barbara works fast, but is very thorough. In addition, she is a great person and a pleasure to spend the time with. She can make anyone feel relaxed and comfortable. I would recommend her if you are going to be waxed for the first time or if you are nervous for any reason. I drive 45 minutes to have an appointment with her, so that will tell you how satisfied I am with Total Skin Care. I have also been going to Rose for electrolysis there for 20+ years. She, like Barbara, is a consummate professional. All the employees there are like family and make everyone feel welcome. I wouldn't think of going anywhere else for waxing or electrolysis. read more

~ Overall Service ~ I have been coming to Total Skin Care since October and I've consistently had an amazing experience. I get my lip waxed rather frequently and each of the ladies I have seen has been friendly and attentive. When getting my lip waxed, soft wax + a muslin strip (or whatever the little cloth strip is) to remove the hair has been used. I've had awful experiences at other establishments where the skin on my upper lip was ripped off with strip wax, but not at Total. I'm unsure if they offer hard wax for those who prefer it, but I'm sure they could answer that question if you call. Also, it only costs $8 for a lip wax, which is a STEAL in my opinion people!! ~ Booking ~ Perhaps one of the best things about coming to Total Skin Care has been the large availability. I've called to make an appointment the day of on multiple occasions and been seen that same day (sometimes even being seen early). This might have to do with the fact that a lip wax takes less time than other waxing services, but nonetheless, it has been very helpful for me and my busy schedule. Each of the employees who have answered the phone when I have called to make an appointment has been cheery and efficient. ~ Cleanliness ~ The main waiting room/seating area is bright and clean, and each of the smaller service rooms are as well. The bathroom is also super clean, no complaints here! ~ In Conclusion ~ I highly recommend this place to fellow BU students and others in the area. You can't go wrong working with any of the ladies at Total. P.S., Barbara is a TRUE gem. She recommended a witch hazel toner to me a few months back after I got my lip waxed with her, and incorporating it into my skincare routine has produced amazing results. read more

Neira is the absolute best! She is professional and makes the experience of waxing to the clients expectations. The results that I have received from her Brazilian and full leg wax for the past 3-4 months is amazing. My hair now grows back thinner and I can go up to 5 weeks before getting another wax since the hair grows back slower. She is a caring and amazing professional. read more

Best waxing experience I've ever had in Boston. I made an appointment to get my brows and lip threaded. We both had some extra time so I decided to get a Brazilian, since I was already here. So happy I went the extra mile! My Esthetician was so sweet and meticulous. My brows came out perfect! Thick but shaped and really even! She walked me through everything and made me feel comfortable :) Every Esthetician here has many years of experience unlike some of the chains I've seen. Ahh.. It's been a week now, No bumps no irritation. REMEMBER to bring cash for TIP! My Esthetician uses VENMO, Fantastic :) the service standard is 20 percent! Definitely will be Back! I have known Barbara for almost 10 years!!! I started seeing her after searching for a waxer on Yelp and she had 5 stars! Barbara is literally the most incredible woman I have ever met and I love coming to her salon. You will have the best Brazilian of your life! Not a hair nor ingrown in sight!..and her story telling with have you dying of laughter and you'll *almost forget that you're getting waxed haha. Rita is also my go to when my schedule doesn't match up with Barbara and she is 10/10! I love that everyone is super consistent always getting a spotless and an as painless wax as possible! Her daughter runs the front desk and is also a delight and contributes to a warm and inviting atmosphere. Total Skin Care is life!! read more

I went in to get a wax for the first time and they were phenomenal! Barbra was kind, friendly and professional. She has so much experience, and it really shows! The prices were reasonable, and they even gave a first time discount. Will definitely be back! read more

I came to get a Brazilian and hands down one of the best Brazilians I've ever received. I've consistently gotten brazilians for almost 4 years now and I know the difference between a good and bad brazilian. Neira was so thorough and definitely a perfectionist- if I'm going to pay $$ for a wax in a sensitive spot then YES, I definitely want all of it to be removed haha. Neira is very sweet and we had a great conversation throughout the process. Even though I have become somewhat used to the discomfort of brazilians, this was definitely one of the least painful brazilians I've received, thanks Neira! read more

I came in and booked an appointment with Rita. It was my first time here and she was so kind and reassured me that I was in good hands--and I was! I will definitely be coming back here again. I highly recommend booking an appointment with her! read more

Neira is absolutely, hands-down , the absolute best place to get your waxing done in Boston and in the country! I have been going to Neira since 2016 and there is NO ONE BETTER. She is so cautious and caring with all she does. She genuinely takes her time with clients and does an exceptional job. No rushing, burning, or misshaped eyebrows at this salon! It takes so much skill to do as well as she does and I would be done for if she ever left. If you need a waxing service done, Total Skin Care is the place to go! read more

I've been coming here for over a year now and I don't even contemplate going elsewhere. Barbara has been "my girl" from day 1 and I highly recommend her. In addition to being super attentive she is also super funny, which makes the whole process a lot easier. I recently decided to have them tame my out-of-control eyebrows and I was not disappointed. Rita did an amazing job and I am definitely becoming a regular with her too. read more

Omg I can't begin to tell everyone what a place this is . I have followed Barbara since the 80 "s and only because I'm not in the area now is why I haven't been by . Please check this place out you won't be disappointed. Thank you Barbara from Ms aka Linda S . I knew you on beacon street hope you remember me . read more

Cristin Doyle is amazing! My brows looked natural and perfectly-groomed after her threading session. This place is now my go-to. Highly recommend!! However, I have to say I had a bad experience on the phone. This morning, I went for a walk-in, I was informed there were no availabilities and I should check back tomorrow. Later in the day, I got a phone call confirming an appointment for the next day that I did not make. Upon my request for a cancellation, the lady on the phone was rude, to say the least. She said, and I quote, "I wouldn't have put you down if you didn't make an appointment so..." It took me three times repeating myself politely (while getting cut off) to clarify the fact that I did NOT make the appointment, and her finally informing me of the cancellation. She simply hung up with "k. bye." Now I do not know who I spoke to or if there were a glitch in the system, but I know it should not take this long nor should I be treated with this attitude to cancel a booking that I did not make. read more

I have been going to Total Skin Care for facials for a year now. Couldn't ask for more! Neira Costa is the best. She has managed to create a space where you can get a perfect facial/massage feeling stress-free and secure. Love it! It's not just a business for her but she is kind and really cares about her clients' needs. If you are in Boston and need a touch of self-care and pampering, Neira is a go-to person. read more

I made an appointment two weeks in advance and received a confirmation text the day before my appointment, but when I showed up the lights were off, the door was locked, and no one picked up the phone or responded to my texts. Now it's too late to get an appointment anywhere else and I am stuck being hairy on my vacation. Thanks for NOTHING. Extremely unprofessional. Will never be giving them my business. read more

Neida! Neida! Neida!!! (hopefully I spelled her name right lol) Beautiful woman with a beautiful spirit! Did an AWESOME job when I went to see her this past Saturday for a full leg w/ Brazilian and underarm waxing. In fact, does an awesome job every time I go see her for the past couple years.Takes her time to remove each hair from every nook and cranny...and I mean EVERY piece of hair!! I highly recommend her for your waxing fix!! :-) read more

Hesitant on my first session but now I look forward to it! Initially I thought that electrolysis was a super complicated procedure that would burn my skin and make my eyebrows look unnatural however, after having the pleasure of working with Rosemary when doing electrology sessions on my prominent brows, I find that the process is not only manageable in terms of pain but also my eyebrows have a natural clean appearance to them which I love because she prioritizes a natural yet kempt look for men. Highly recommend! read more

Couldn't recommend Neira more! She is so diligent with her work, provides great conversation, and has extremely fair pricing. She cares so much about each of her clients and her services are amazing. So happy to have found my go-to place in Boston! read more

I was sad when the previous spa I went to in this exact location (above Dellaria) shut down, as I saw one of the estheticians for years. I've been looking for a good, reasonably-priced place for a brow wax, and I think I've found that place with Total Skin Care. My eyebrows were in horrible shape, and Cristin did an excellent job of cleaning them up. She didn't rush through the process and was very precise in her work. I would highly recommend her. Also, to anyone who previously went to this spa, they really cleaned it up. The place seems more spacious and cleaner. Definitely going to return here in the future. read more

If you need a good grooming for your vah jay jay pre-date, beach vacay, or just plain need to get rid of that hair asap go to Barbara! The other ladies here are great, too. I've tried different waxers before but they either took way too long, left sticky waxy residue on me after the job was done, or made it too painful. But then the universe took pity on me and sent me to Total Skin Care. I've been going to Barbara for years and they've seen a couple of location changes. This new facility is welcoming when you walk in. Plenty of comfy seats, magazines, and tea for you to relax if you get here early. The wax goes by quickly - Barbara is hilarious and will totally entertain you. She's awesome! The receptionist is super nice, too. The paper bag carrying my salad had a hole in it and she immediately brought me a different one to carry my leftovers home. She's also super welcoming and friendly in general! Bring cash for tip, although they tell you to bring it next time if you don't wanna pay an ATM fee (there's an ATM next door). Prices are standard - $60 for a Brazilian and totally worth the great service and efficiency! read more

I come here for my waxing (Brazilian and overall) and eyebrow threading regularly and get it done from Cristin. She is Amaaaazing!! She has been my go-to person ever since I started visiting Total Skin Care last November. I always go to her for my brows and she works magic on them, every single time. The attention to detail and patience with which she does everything is unparalleled. My waxing is always super comfortable, fast and no-pain, which is great because I have sensitive skin. My eyebrows also never looked better! She takes great care of what you want, and is a great person as well :) Thanks Cristin! read more

This place is the absolute best! Prior to discovering TSC I had probably gone to about 20 different spas, but after my first visit I knew my search for the best hair removal place was over. I moved to Southern Maine last year and I still go back to Boston just to see Barbara (yes- she is that good)! It's hard to say that waxing is fun, but I can almost say that I have fun with Barbara during my Brazilians. She removes any awkwardness with her sparkling personality and makes me feel so comfortable that I almost forget I am lying there half naked while she rips large chunks of hair off from my sensitive lady parts!!! Like everyone says, she gets right in there with tweezers to make sure that not one strand of hair is left. I can tell that Barbara really loves and cares about what she is doing. Also, when I call to make an appointment they can almost always see me within a day or two. I mostly see Barbara, but one time she was unavailable so I saw someone else (forgot her name), and she was just as thorough and meticulousI definitely 100% recommend this place. read more

Neira is great! She was super friendly and made me feel comfortable during my entire session. Definitely would come back again!

I have been a client of Barbara's for over 6 years, and her new space is gorgeous! The women of TSC are waxing goddesses. Even if I couldn't get in with Barbara (which has only been once in my life) her additional waxers are just as spectacular. The best part? You can call the day before or even the same day for an appointment, and she's open late most days for after-work appointments. read more

I have been a long time client of Total Skin Care. I have enjoyed absolutely every single visit. This team takes care of me, responds to my needs, and cares about me as a person. They do not consider me a name on a schedule equivalent to income, but as a an actual person. I love this team, and they do an excellent job. I enjoy this small biz that caters to you, appreciates you, and responds to you. Cannot recommend enough. read more

My first time getting a Brazilian (actually my first time getting anything other than my eyebrows done) and let me tell you I walked in a shakey nervous and very very hairy. Rita took amazing care of me, put my mind at ease and actually had me laughing. Was it uncomfortable? Well duh, but the results are perfect and I've already booked my next appointment. HIGHLY recommend especially if you're like me and bedside manner is important. read more

I wanted to love this place so I could keep coming back, but unfortunately my experience was just ok. The receptionist was extremely friendly and efficient. I got there for my appointment at 10am and she checked me in promptly, and let me know that the woman my appointment was with was running a little late. No problem, it happens. When the girl who she was waxing came out to pay, it turns out she changed her mind after booking her appointment and got a service that took 4x the amount of time, which is why they were 20 minutes late for my appointment. I'm not sure why they didn't tell her she needed to book another appointment, but they should have. Maybe they wanted the money? I don't know. Either way they knew it would end up making my appointment late. Went in for my service and the woman was fine. She was nice enough and she did a great job. Very thorough. They use soft wax here, which I should have figured when there was no mention of the type of wax the use (soft wax hurts WAY more than hard wax). For a salon in the heart of Boston, I would have expected top of the line (hard wax). This is the reason I won't return. I should've done more research, but this was the most painful experience. I couldn't believe the difference between the hard wax and the soft wax. It felt like my skin was being ripped off (and according to my research after the fact, it was). Bottom line is they're friendly and do a good job, but there are places that do a great job with half the pain. read more

I went to get my eyebrows done for the first time and I could not have asked for a better experience. The ladies in there were so helpful and friendly I instantly felt at home. I am so happy with the way my eyebrows came out and will definitely visit again in the future. read more

I wish I could this place more than 5 stars! To begin with, I was almost an hour late for my first appointment with them to get a full leg and Brazilian wax(also for the first time). They were completely understanding and accommodating with me being so late. For my first time, she made my waxing experience not feel awkward or too painful. We had a friendly conversation the entire wax. I was explained in detail about the process and even sampled a small waxing strip on my leg to test out the pain and see if I could handle it. Overall, I had an amazing experience and I am looking forward for my next wax since I was told that the more I wax, the better it will be. read more

Just like so many of the other reviewers, I have been client of Total Skin Care for years - almost 15 to be exact! They know their business and I haven't gotten a better wax anywhere. The new location is lovely and as BU employee, I love that they are still close enough to my office for me to be able to have an appointment during my lunch break. Rita is a wonder and Barbara has created a business I love to support. If you are looking for a quality, reasonably priced service in a relaxing, no muss, no fuss, environment you should be going to Total Skin Care! read more

It's very hard to give Total Skin Care anything less than a five stars. This is one of the best places in Boston to get any type of wax. Both Neira and Rita (whom I've seen for facial waxing and Brazilians) are extremely precise, making sure to get out any excess hair. I also really appreciate that they take their time - I've never really felt rushed. I always feel clean and fresh after leaving, too. They are also both so conversational and put me so much at ease that the waxing goes by quicker. As I go more often, I also felt like it was getting less painful - which is always a plus! I've never waxed with Barbara, but I am sure she is also great seeing as all these ladies have years and years of experience in giving the best possible wax they can to each customer. Whenever I am back in Boston, I definitely plan to go back. read more

I was in Boston for a few days and desperately needed a wax when I discovered Total Skin Care. Everything from location to the interior decor to the professionalism of everyone was nothing less than spectacular. I cannot recommend this business or my aesthetician, Barbara, enough. Neira is amazing. She gives by far the best wax I have ever had. She will use tweezers to pull out any of the hairs that are too short to be removed by the wax, which is a fantastic touch and leaves my skin hair-free. I've been waxed literally around the world and TSC is my absolutely favorite salon. While living in Boston I started with Karen Golden and eventually moved to TSC because Karen is super hard to book appointments with on short notice. I started off getting waxed by Barbara, had one session with Neira, and eventually switched to Rita. You'll get an amazing wax with everyone, but Rita is hands-down the best for me. TMI moment: I struggle with ingrowns and Rita always takes care of it. She's thorough, easy to talk to, and just the sweetest woman. I've since moved to New Jersey but every time I am back in the Boston area, I make sure to go see these ladies. Top reasons to go to TSC: 1. The people. The women here genuinely love each other and their jobs. Rita has been with the salon for 18 years--come on, that's saying something. They are kind, funny, and are so welcoming. It makes a huge difference when you see coworkers get along. 2. Their new space is BEAUTIFUL. I didn't mind the old salon. But, seriously, the new space is spacious and updated. 3. The quality of the wax you get here can't be compared to anywhere else. Yes, I've had cheaper waxes but they are never as thorough or long-lasting as ones from TSC. You leave incredible smooth and feeling super clean. 4. It's so easy to book appointments. They can even fit you in same-day! I'll always come back here when presented the opportunity. You won't regret going! read more
