Update: after I posted this review, the manager replied and instead of addressing the actual issue that they ended the massage session **before the booked end time**, she falsely accused me of being 15-min late. This business lacks integrity and accountability. They don't care about their customers, only making money from them in the shortest amount of time. They need to fix the issue that they book overlapping appointments between customers and having to rush through the service and ending things early because of that. Instead, they blamed the customers. I rarely leave one-star reviews but I want to take the time to share this experience so customers can be aware. read more

i just visited Sway spa yesterday and I had an amazing time. I booked a couples massage to celebrate my boyfriends birthday and we both loved it. Lucy and Sarah were fantastic and the customer service was 10/10 from the moment we walked in. I called a week and a half before my appointment to request a special set up in our massage room and I was assured that they would take care of it. when we arrived there were happy birthday balloons waiting along with bubbling apple cider and champagne glasses. They also hung a happy birthday banner in our room and let us relax a little bit afterwards to enjoy the rest of our cider in our robes. I was having such a horrible day emotionally and I came into the spa on a whim. They were kind, gave me chocolate, and the massage was truly amazing. I had an absolutely great experience here! As some background, I usually do not get massages (maybe 2-3 times before this). But I decided to treat myself and came across a pretty neat deal for an hour long massage for $69! (Pretty solid if you ask me). The receptionist was super sweet and helpful when I called to book my appointment. The masseuse that I had was absolutely wonderful. The photo I added to my review was taken after 2 trips to IKEA and the manual labor involved in hauling, assembling and moving 3 large pieces of furniture. I'm amazed my nails held up. After stalking Yelp for Aveda spas I decided to try this one and go here exclusively for massages. I've seen a couple different people and each has been excellent along with doing a couples massage where you each can choose the type (Swedish, sport, deep tissue, etc). Staff when you call are hit or miss but whenever I've arrived, everyone is very friendly, offers you tea and gets you settled quickly. Though the space is right outside a busy street, it's very quiet and relaxing which is nice. Also easy to book treatments online and their menu and pricing is very clear and concise. It's also nice that they carry a wide range of Aveda products including the delicious Aveda tea that you can buy while you're there :). read more

Came here with my sister on the last day of our vacation. She had a 5 star experience with her massage therapist but I had more of a 3 star. The room was very cold, the gal didn't really touch the surface of my shoulder tension, and there seemed to be a lot of rubbing, like from one end of a limb to the other, and I specifically told her I didn't care for that technique. I prefer more of a kneading. . . Anyway, one other negative was that I felt pressured to leave a cash tip. When I was given the envelope for her tip I asked if I could just add it to the cc but the guy really stressed how cash was better. That annoyed me. I had an appointment on 8/27 for a Brazilian, underarms & facial. I was 10 minutes late due to traffic. Boston was having a Carnival so traffic was a little crazy. The Brazilian & underarms appointment was for 1:45 & the facial was at 2:30. She did the underarms 1st, then started the facial. I don't know why it was done that way. The mask was then applied to my face then she started on my Brazilian. After the Brazilian was done the mask was wiped from my face & then some moisturizer was applied & that was it. The facial was suppose to be for 60 minutes I was done by 3pm. But remember my facial appointment wasn't until 2:30. That's when my facial should've been started & I would've been done by 3:30. The Brazilian was ok. I didn't get to enjoy my facial the way it should've been done I've had better. Never Again read more

I felt (and looked) 100x less quarantined than when I walked in. My appointment was 2 days after they opened from being closed due to quarantine. I felt safe and was very well taken care of. Let's just say...I booked an appointment the day before and it couldn't have been easier. The website is very easy to use. When I arrived, I was greeted right away. Even just entering, I already felt relaxation entering my body. I filled out a few forms and before I knew it, I was brought to my room. I went for an 90 minute essential full body massage. I let my masseuse know what spots I needed work on and spots to avoid, don't want to make that sciatic nerve any worse than it already it. Tatiana was great, no, AMAZING. Aside from the little hiccup about the amount of time my massage was, she was really good at targetting my really stressed and pained areas and checking on me to make sure pressure was ok. In fact...I asked her to apply more pressure and it was perfect. The massage was everything I needed. Next time, i'll book earlier so I can get the stress-fix massage. After my massage I chatted with the receptionists and it was overall a really great experience. Very clean, very quiet and completely welcoming. I had very high expectations for this spa because of 5 star Yelp rating, however I was not impressed by the place, unfortunately. The service was average, nothing outstanding (I went for my nails). The water was on cooler side at first which was very uncomfortable, especially when you get your pedi done on a cold winter day. I do have to mention though that the staff was very nice. I was offered immediately water and tea and everyone tried to make me as comfortable as possible. One more thing that I didn't like was that all staff members were running into one specific room back and forth which didn't not create a relaxing spa atmosphere. I feel compelled to warn all who value their skin to think twice before trusting Sway Aveda. I have no idea why this establishment has such great reviews. I trusted yelp and booked an appointment with the gift card I received from my fiancé. So here's the breakdown. Cleanliness: Yes, this place is clean from what I could see during the few moments when my eyes were open. Atmosphere: This is not a high end establishment. No frills. No locker room. However, the people are very kind. Experience: - FACIAL: The facial was relaxing and I was satisfied with the experience until I looked in the mirror. The extraction process was so aggressive that I just KNEW I was going to scar. I took excellent care of my skin following the facial (as always) and used high quality skincare products. Well, my fear came true and I still scarred. An esthetician should never leave a client worse off than the way they came in. -MASSAGE: My fiancé, who was kind enough to book this spa day, felt awful when I came home BRUISED. I was not booked for a deep tissue massage, but that's what I got. I asked for lighter pressure and I was told, "It's supposed to hurt". I even got a purposeful elbow in the back to demonstrate to me what real pain actually was. This was not the relaxing spa day I really needed. Value: For this price, you can visit some of the top spas in the city!!! I know this because I went to one every 3 weeks. Cherry on top: The receptionist, who just started, couldn't figure out how to apply my gift card. It took so long to check me out that I finally told her to have her manager call me and I paid afterward via phone. I understand when people are new to a job and learning. The extremely long delay wasn't the problem. The problem was the accusation that my credit card wasn't working in front of a full reception area. If that was the case, why did part of the charge go through with a printed receipt? She then agreed it couldn't be my card and agreed to have management figure out the process later. She made me feel comfortable immediately (ever have a Brazilian?), she coached me through it all and when things got really painful, she kept my mind off it.
