the haircut style is very nice, and the massage therapy is also relaxing! Tony is a great hairstylist, and every time he treats my hair very well. They also threats my acne very well! I worked a 3 month treatment with Gigi, who is the facial therapist, and improved my skin better! If you also have any skin issues or just wanna have a deep-cleaning by professional therapist, i would recommend her. I had two interactions with the Lovely Spa. When I first came to the Lovely Spa, I was in the neighborhood looking for an eyebrow wax. I came here after one of the nearby nail salons said they couldn't take me. I made an appointment for a half hour later and came back for the wax. The room in which I had the wax was relaxing with soft music in the background. The woman applying the wax was gentle and thorough. Because I previously enjoyed the wax I got there, I called to make an appointment for another wax. The person on the phone didn't let me make an appointment because he said they didn't offer eyebrow waxes. I hung up, was confused, and didn't go there again. read more

I have literally had hundreds of massages (especially in the Chinese styles). I would say the massage I received from my therapist (Amy) ranked among the top massages I have ever had in my life, and that's saying a lot. I sit at work all day, and my shoulders get really tight. Stopped in one night when it was particularly bad, and the masseuse was able to release the worst of the knots, and give me a much better range of movement. Highly recommended. DO NOT GO TO THIS SPA!!! Worst experience ever. My husband gave me a Groupon gift certificate to get a facial here for Mother's Day. I called the spa to get an appointment, and made sure to mention that I had a voucher from Groupon. The recptionist told me I had to come see their "packages" at different price points. When I said the voucher was prepaid she told me that was fine and we made an appointment for later that day. When I show up, I was told "we had you come in because we didn't want to double charge you. We don't have that promotion. The voucher I had stated on there that it didn't expire for another month. She said they changed owners "years ago" and she isn't sure why that offer was available. When I told her it was purchased recently, in May, she told me "May was a Lonny time ago you should have used it before". She told me to call Groupon to get a refund and then purchase one of their "packages" at full price. I had to stand there for half an hour on the phone with my husband as Groupon told him they'd only give him credit which expires in 24 hours for him to use, or we lose our money, and maybe we should just repurchase a Groupon from this particular spa. So this establishment lied to me over the phone, made me go out of my way to go to them for a bait and switch, hoping I'd shell out the full price to double pay for something my husband had already purchased. Groupon for their part is basically holding my money hostage. We'll probably end up losing whatever it was that my husband paid. So what was supposed to be a relaxing spa day for me turned into a stressful wasted morning.... read more

My friend and I called randomly one night to see if they could accommodate us. They were really nice over the phone, and could see us right away. My massage was pretty intense and deep which is how I prefer it. Bonus: they speak Chinese fluently which I like. My mom doesn't usually treat herself so this would be a nice treat for her when she visits. I feel like not only would she enjoy a massage here, but also appreciate a native speaker. read more

Amy is great! My back was tight from slouching over my computer and my legs were sore from running, so it was very relaxing to get a full body massage and I felt amazing afterward. I have had a lot of massages in a lot of different kinds of places including several Chinese massage spas--and the first I had at Lovely Spa was a really bad massage by someone who seemed like they had never actually given massages before. I would have rather skipped it altogether. Then I wrote a negative review. Lovely Spa wrote and offered for me to come back for a free massage, so I did. The second one was sadly, also very bad. Half way through the massage I was asked to move to another room. The woman giving it was very nice but kept asking me "is this good?" She asked if I would leave a good review at the end. The whole time I wondered about the conditions for the workers who seemed terribly anxious both times. I never figured out who "Amy" was but asked and kept trying to figure it out. I recommend steering clear of this place. I suspect the people who wrote positive reviews got free massages. The two stars are only because both women, both times were so nice. I felt like it was bad owners/managers. The young women who work here are trying and working VERY hard with little, if any training. read more

Before the massage the receptionist asked us if we will tip by cash or card and if we wanted to tip before or after the massage. We said after. After the massage we tipped the receptionist, but she suggested a higher tip amount for us and tried to pressure us into paying it. I felt both actions were strange and intrusive. I just went in this place for an advance deep cleansing care and I had to say it was the best one I have ever had. Lin was very accurate in her work and the product she used had a lovely perfume. Service/facial itself was 3 stars, customer service was 0 stars. So I compromised with a 2 star rating. Here's my story. I purchased a groupon for a hydrofacial + chemical peel and called to make the appointment. She told me to come in at 3:00pm on Thursday of that week. (I even received a reminder call the day before) So I showed up at 3 on Thurs, was told another client had been running late so it would be 30 more minutes. After 45 minutes, I was finally taken into the room. (I wish she had just called me to reschedule, I would have understood- things happen. But she didn't.) Good thing I found a non-meter parking spot at the ice rink nearby, so I was able to stay longer without paying. The esthetician then comes in and says something about moving to another room because she had another client (my room had 2 beds so I thought a couple or 2 friends had come in). So I said no problem thats fine, and she said "Ok, its no problem, its another girl so it's fine." She leaves the room and I realize that she actually wants to put a stranger in the same room with me? At the same time? I was already annoyed because of the 45 minute delay, so I started to pack up my things to reschedule or cancel my groupon. As I am about to change back into my clothes, the esthetician and the other client walk in. I hesitated for a second, but ultimately decided to stay for the appointment because I really wanted a facial, and I didn't want the other female client to feel bad that I was leaving. She also seemed a bit surprised that I was in there, so I'm not sure the esthetician communicated the same message to her- that she would be sharing a room. So we both settle down and I'm laying there, waiting for a 2nd employee to come in. Nope. Ultimately, the same esthetician was working on both of us at the same time.... And not washing hands in between. I almost put a stop to the whole thing right then and there, but at this point I'm like what else could possibly go wrong? I wanted to stick it out just for humor's sake. I also knew I would be writing a review at that stage of the game, so I wanted to get the full scope of service. The nail in the coffin actually came to me on my ride home. So my thought is - we ended up staying for about an hour and a half (the groupon I had purchased was for 60 min). So we did get a bit of extra time. However, when you factor in that you should get undivided attention for a full hour from ONE esthetician, me and the other female client ultimately ended up getting jipped. The esthetician was able to do a 2-for-1 deal basically. She gets 2 clients, but only works for the timeframe of 1. The other girl was actually totally fine, and I wouldn't have minded sharing a room - IF we each had our own person. But we didn't. Would not go back. read more

I have been at this spa for a massage 3 or 4 times and previously really enjoyed it. The service had been great. I think there's a new masseuse who is poorly trained (not trained?) and really hurt my back throughout in all different areas throughout the hour. Really focused on digging into my bones repeatedly. I will not be going back to this person. Still in pain currently from the massage and considering going back to ask for a refund. Disappointed they haven't appropriately vetted their staff. read more

The reviews here looked solid so I took a shot at this place but just wasn't impressed. Scheduling an appointment over the phone was difficult, the woman could not understand what I was asking for and then instead of confirming my time slot said I'd hear from them before my appointment? I then got a text message confirming the service, date and time, so whatever, weird intro. When I got to the spa and told them I had a reservation, they had no clue what my service was, even though my text had confirmed the 2 hour couples massage I had booked. I told the woman again what we were getting, but when we got to the room she asked who wanted to go first, which was a bit strange to have just one masseuse for a couples massage... the second masseuse showed up about 10-15 minutes in, so I guess better than never. My boyfriend and I were running early, so maybe this was the reason, but there was no communication whatsoever about needing to wait for the second woman. After all of this, the massage only lasted one hour, even though I had booked a 2 hour. The women both just stopped, and after some earlier language barrier problems I didn't even attempt to try and remind them about the extra hour I'd booked. Once we were paying, the woman accidentally overcharged my card, telling me she accidentally put $180 when it should have been $160. Now that I'm looking at their rates again when writing this review, the hour couples massage should have only been $145, so another thing that got messed up.
