He does a great job bringing my vision for my hair to life. During the haircut, he's so affirming friendly, and great to talk to. The price of a haircut here is super reasonable, which is one of the reasons I love this place. The interior is very cute, and they're always playing great music. Kills me to write this review since I really want to support local businesses but I got the worst haircut of my life here. I booked a haircut with George and for whatever reason he decided that he didn't want to cut my hair. He asked Frankie to do it. There was literally no one there. I said sure whatever. I just had a baby. All I want is a haircut and get out of there. First of all it took 2 hours instead of the 1 he quoted. He blew dry my hair and he was super rough and he burnt my scalp. I asked for bangs and he literally grabbed a chunk of my hair and cut it short: At that point I was really annoyed since I told the babysitter an hour and I was an hour late already. George had to come in a fix his shitty bangs. Finally done and I left. I was so tired that I didn't really check but when I got home I realized that it was superrrr uneven. I tie my hair up and you can visibly see how uneven it was. I had to grow my hair out to get it fixed. I had to wear it up for a few months just to hide how bad my haircut was. Went to another place yesterday and the stylist confirmed it how uneven it was. I think the worst thing was George (believe he's the owner) checked my hair to make sure it was even and he said it was!! So I actually got my hair cut here in July, and I don't normally write reviews, but I decided I needed to warn the public about this place. This was probably my worst hair cut experience ever - I would really advise that people do not come here to get their hair done. First off, the guy doing my hair (a college student) was way too rough and sloppy. He basically botched my hair completely, gave me absolutely atrocious layers after I showed him a few inspiration pictures, and to top it all off, he was very rough while working and tugged and pulled a lot. I walked out of the salon feeling complete deflated and awful - not just about my hair - but about how I felt like he treated me as a client. He lacked any kind of sensitivity about the haircut, or about how he treated my hair. After letting my hair grow out for a few months, I finally went to a different salon this past weekend after I found a trusted stylist to go to from a friend. The professional at this other salon took one look at my hair, and told me that the person who had previously worked with my hair (at Thazar Hair Studio) had basically botched my haircut and done me completely dirty. Mind you - it had been months at this point, and my hair had already started to grow out, but the damage is still visible. Thankfully, the stylist at Salon Luna was able to begin to fix the damage done to me at Thazar Hair Studio. But please do not come here. read more

I absolutely LOVED my haricut from George at Thazar Hair Studio. It can be so hard to find a salon that does good curly cuts without charging outrageously. George was able to fit me in later in the evening than most salons are open (6:15 PM). He was warm, welcoming, and fast without skimping on quality. Debated writing this review for the longest time for fear of retaliation. George is a bully. He has a really awful attitude and is plain mean, sarcastic, and condescending (asked rhetorically "how old are you (that you don't understand X)?" to me as a woman in my 30s) if you ever push back on his advice or point out that you don't love something he did. He's unkind and unprofessional and felt like he tries to intimidate you into liking your haircut or his choices. There are so many amazing salons in Boston that even his cheap prices don't justify coming back here for a subpar cut and bottom of the barrel attitude. read more

Came here last Friday for a much needed hair cut. George was incredible! He knew exactly what I wanted and how to make my lack luster hair more full and dramatic. He also gave me the best (and first) blow out! He has set the bar VERY high. My only regret is that I wish I found this salon earlier. Salon is COVID friendly. Both the client and George wear masks and there's only one client at a time. Can't wait to come back in a few months for another cut and maybe some color. If i could give 0 i would. Everything went bad from the beginning, i made an appointment with George but when went there they switched and Carmen ended up taking care of me. At first i didnt mind, all i wanted was simple hair cut. she started off wetting my hair "not wash just wet" and the cut is un even. I didnt notice it because she didnt even show my back at the salon. I ended up going to someone else for the uneven hairtcut. after cutting my bangs she did not brush the hair off so a tiny hair all over my face clothes inside my clothes and ended up charging me $45!!!!! Because she blow dried my bangs and wet my hair? I gave her some tip because i was so done. I had cheaper and way better hair cuts in Allston and Brighton area. Idk about other workers but i would avoid this place at all cost. Trust me there are other better places in Allston. At this point i would like to request a refund or something. I spent 65 + tip for a burning scalp. I did a blow dry at this hair salon, and my scalp was burning during the drying. Despite repeated attempt to ask the woman to move the hair dryer farther away from my scalp, nothing improved. It was way too hot and I felt extremely uncomfortable. My scalp hurt a lot. I was told by the woman that there's nothing she could do to make the situation better and it was my skin that's too sensitive. I've done blow dry in more than 10 different salons in Boston and have never felt this burning and uncomfortable. If you are looking for a place to burn your skin, this is the place. Otherwise, there are plenty of salons nearby to style your hair, not to mention that this place doesn't have the 20% discount as indicated on yelp. False advertisement it is. read more

Five stars for Jillian. She has been my stylist for years and I have followed her from Davis Sq to Newbury st and now to Thazar. She is so talented and knowledgeable about different techniques. I am a very picky person and Jillian listens to my vision and then always delivers a beautifully polished haircut. Her blow outs are amazing and she always makes me feel so comfortable. Highly recommend Jillian for any cut, color, styling needs. She now cuts my husband and sons hair and her mens cuts are just as great as her womens. George is the best! I went in for a pixie haircut (my first time ever) and wasn't sure what kind of pixie haircut would fit me (all I knew was that I wanted an edgy yet also professional haircut). I told him that I trusted his professional judgement, and I'm so glad I did! He gave me an undercut pixie and then recommended blonde highlights, so I returned a few days later for the dyeing process. What he did to my hair blew me away, and I absolutely love it! I can't speak for the other barber George, but I will say my men's haircut with Jillian was perhaps one of the worst I had. My hair is easy to cut (Caesar on top, and #2 on the sides). She basically shaved the whole back and side of my hair with a #2, rather than just the sides, which made it look like a buzz cut. And then the Caesar on top was uneven, with one side having slightly more hair than the other. Not only that, but she didn't even trim my side burns. She seemed like she was in a rush to get my hair cut done, even though there weren't any other customers waiting for me. And to add to that, when I inquired about the 20% off for first-time customers, she said they don't do that anymore (even though it's on Yelp). Update, officially a repeat customer. I went in today for a trim (online the service is called women's haircut) and reshaping of my last cut. I showed George what he did last time and he repeated. I went in with dry hair, he sprayed it damp, cut it, and I walked out with no styling (which is what I expected). I styled at home, it was just as beautiful as the first time! Sooo affordable getting a trim this way, I finally found somewhere I can go every few months for reshaping and not break the bank! So so happy with my cut. read more
