I had a 25 minute virtual consultation. One of the things discussed was that I needed my grays covered. I was given 2 options covering all goals discussed - 1. start off with highlights/lowlights/gloss or 2. Start off with a gloss. I chose starting with a gloss. After the gloss was washed out I noticed grays and asked about it. It was then I was told, "a gloss doesn't cover grays. We'd be lucky to get 30-40% coverage with a gloss." After getting home I now realize the gloss isn't even and pulled reddish. I did leave without a blow dry out of frustration so in all fairness I'm sure they would have adjusted that had I stayed. But also, I figured it would probably be fine since it's a gloss but not the case. I have naturally curly hair and I wanted a blowout. I had read that this place does well with curly hair, so I was hopeful. I should not have been. I did a walk in appointment and before my appointment, the hairdresser that did my hair did a consultation first and said she could do it. I wish she just said she could not because she simply could not do a blowout on my hair. It actually did not seem like heat was being used even though she said, "Let me know if it is too hot.". I have gotten many blowouts in my life and this is the worst one I have ever gotten. She said that I needed a trim and she showed me and I agreed. I asked if she could just trim it and she said she was unable to and I could book an appointment for the following day for a trim. I completely understand wanting to make sure you don't want to leave clients waiting, but I left the salon with my hair literally not done. My hair was puffy and had multiple sections that were not fully straight. I had to go to ANOTHER salon to get the trim because I was absolutely not going to work looking like that. I had to fix my hair and blow dry and flat iron it myself because the quality I left with was not okay. I recognize they have a curly specialist and I can imagine that she does an incredible job, but if they are the only ones who can handle natural hair, that needs to be said. Their hairdressers should not say they can do natural hair if they simply cannot. I will never be going to this salon ever again. It was a complete waste of time and money. read more

I asked for even a portion of my money back and they said they'd "pass that on to management." They also said I'd be contacted by management. Instead they had the stylist call me. While kindly offering to fix my hair, she also continuously spoke over me and talked to me in a condescending manner. She said she feels she got the accurate results and that she stands behind this work. I told them I'd still like a call from management but I'm sure they'll just ghost me after this. She says that the other stylist I consulted with after are wrong about my hair being over processed. Her other work is amazing... don't really know why it's so hard to admit you just didn't do a good job. We all mess up. Humble yourself. Don't waste your money here, especially since it's not guaranteed you'll get it back if they mess up. Seriously, don't go. Update: LOL at them trying to bury my review! I never write a review for anywhere, but I know when I was looking for a new salon in Boston I looked at tons of reviews, so this is for anyone in that position! I cannot say enough good things about this salon and about Cristina! I've had two different types of haircuts with her now, one was a big chop and the other was just a trim. It came out perfect each time, she cut it exactly how I wanted it to be. I can't even recall explaining it too precisely, she just knows what to do. She's incredibly professional and clearly an expert at her craft. It's worth noting that this is a luxury salon, and services provided by the owner are going to be higher. For me, I get my hair cut twice a year, I am more than willing to pay more knowing it'll come out perfect. I've been going to Leslie for years! She's incredible at getting my hair to the platinum white that I love so much! She's also done weave-in extensions that look so natural. I appreciate the steps she takes to minimize the damaging effects of lightening my hair - such as using cotton on my scalp during root touch ups, recommending hydrating hair products from the salon, and recommending high quality brushes from the salon. If you're new to the platinum blonde life - lightener is damaging to your hair, but there are things you can do to mitigate most of it. Leslie is a real master at platinum/ white hair - please take her advice if she says to do only a few levels at a time, especially if you have other color dye in your hair! I've been on the platinum journey for 8 years - it doesn't happen over night, but Leslie is the only colorist I've ever known to be this skilled at blondes and always going the extra mile to make sure my hair is as strong and healthy as possible! read more

I am so relieved to have found this salon!! I am very particular about my hair and have had some challenging experiences at other places. However, I have been going to Cristina for the past three years and every time the results are amazing! I have level 5 dark brown hair and Cristina foils it to a beautiful, natural blond that grows in gracefully and has actually gotten substantially longer! In the past I had so much breakage and I could never get it as long as I wanted - and now it is down to my bra strap! Also, Cristina has been giving me keratin treatments twice a year and it has made a HUGE difference with styling and battling the summer frizzies. Now I don't have to heat style as much and my bangs don't curl up even with ocean air or light rain! I even drive 90 minutes to get here, that's how much I love this place! read more

While the salon was nice I spent over $400 for highlights + haircut and it came out like this you know it's bad when the hair stylist took a picture of my before and NOT MY AFTER. In their defense they offered to fix it for free when they called to ask if I was satisfied with my appointment but I just couldn't get myself to go back after paying that much and I felt it would be very ackward. I'm going to post this here because I want to warn others of my experience at Salon Viselli. I went in on 9/3 to have a cut and color before I left Boston (I'm a travel nurse), I was also taking a much needed vacation to Las Vegas that I was much looking forward too. The service I requested was a touch up all over color of a chocolate brown and a very light trim. I was informed by Stanley my stylist he wanted to do a "double process." I wasn't completely sure of what this entailed but he said it was to "remove some of the old color to make this come through." Mind you my hair was already dark brown and there is no real difference in my hair now after this accept I have streaks of copper that he didn't get color onto and my entire head looks like an uneven color not a nice chocolate dark brown. "Dusting the edges" that he agreed on apparently meant taking off over an inch and leaving my cut very uneven. I bought their salon products to repair my hair because it was VERY obvious my hair had damaged as he fought to "blow it out." I am also using multiple products to attempt to repair my hair including: smoothing Pureology shampoo/conditioner/and hair mask, Moroccan oil, Kenra Blow dry spray and heat protectant, it's a 10 leave in treatment and the Kevin Murphy restore I bought at Viselli. I thought this would help my hair and I was patient before calling to discuss my concerns with the wonder Cristina. Unfortunately it became clear as my hair was falling out that this was not repairable. It should have been an indicator when the first time 2 days after my appointment I washed my hair and a chunk literally fell out in the shower. I called Cristina and explained to her I left Boston on 9/9 but wanted her to do something to correct the issue. I even offered having her help me find a salon in Minneapolis (where I moved to next) and offered for her to speak directly to the stylist there to get their opinion so she would know my concerns are very valid since I couldn't physically come back to her salon. She requested I send her pictures of my hair. I did and since that I have called her 4 more times and left messages and she is just ignoring me and most likely avoiding me. I have since contact my bank to dispute the $350 I paid this salon to RUIN my beautiful long brown hair. I will be contacting the BBB I will be contacting the Massachusetts board of cosmetology because this can't go unnoticed. I literally spent my last night of vacation in Las Vegas in my hotel room because I couldn't stomach blow drying and styling my hair, I couldn't stomach more hair falling out and I surely wasn't going to go out with my friends with my hairstyle of my "air dried hair" trust me, my natural drying hair isn't one you would call a "hairstyle." I've cried over my hair and I now refuse to go out because I refuse to touch my hair until the damage has repaired. This salon is not well trained, over priced for the service you walkout with and the owner lacks any professionalism to addressing someone's hair that's absolutely DESTROYED!! I've been on a Yelp hiatus but felt the need to come back and post a review because my experience here was SO GOOD. Some main points: Safety: Salon has all the right Covid precautions- hand sanitizers everywhere, partitions between booths, everyone wearing masks, temperature check, and you wait outdoors on the benches for your stylist to come get you. I came on a Thursday noon and the salon was spacious enough (plus not as many patrons) that I felt very safe. Service: Receptionist was very friendly when checking me in and getting my temperature, and even gave me a goodie bag of products when I told him it was my first time here! Got me checked in very quickly and didn't have to wait long for my stylist. Okay, now let me take some time to rave about Constantina: I went in not really knowing what I wanted exactly, I just knew my hair was NOT looking cute after months of quarantine (and grown out DIY bangs, oof). I told her a few things I didn't want, and that I wanted to keep my length. She took a look at my hair and immediately was able to point out parts that needed fixing, and work with me to come up with a "game plan": long layers, blunt ends, and face framing pieces. She walked me through all the products she used, each step of the haircut, and showed me exaxtkhow much she was cutting off so I wouldn't freak out about accidentally going too short. Honestly, this kind of communication makes a HUGE difference, and Constantina is a pro- you can just tell. I was in and out of there in under an hour (blowout included). It's the first time I've ever let a stylist have free reign of my hair and I couldn't be happier! It's like she read my mind (which is amazing because I didn't even fully know what cut/style I wanted!) Definitely coming back again before the holidays to get another haircut from Constantina. 10/10 absolutely would recommend! read more

Wendell is the first stylist that really explained in detail my hair and how it was going to be processed and styled. I was amazed with his depth of knowledge with hair products and long history of working in the beauty industry. Wendell greeted me on time and made me feel comfortable in just minutes of him introducing himself. I am very particular with regards to my hair and honestly up to this time have not found a stylist who truly understands my full outlook of styling My hair. I had asked for a color change and was recommended by Wendell to go with a full balayage style. I have never had my hair come out so unbelievably good EVER! In the end, she cut my hair is a straight line, no layering, no form, basically what 4 y/o kids get. For my bangs, she took my hair in the front and used a razor to chop it off super high. I ended up looking like DORA THE EXPLORER. Exactly the same. I am very passive, so I didn't say anything, got out of there as fast as I could. This was my first time at Viselli Salon. I highly recommend!! The salon manager/make-up artist Ruelyz is super accommodating and ever so pleasant! My hairdresser Alejandro is absolutely amazing and a true artist! He listened to what I wanted and delivered. For my color: I wanted a very "natural" balayage, while keeping true to my natural color, he added gold (my desired color) throughout to create depth and warmth. For my cut: I am always nervous about this part because I wanted to keep as much length as possible and some hairdressers get "scissor happy" Not the case here! He kept my length, while cleaning it up with a few long layers to add body, and I couldn't be happier! The keratin treatment I had at Viselli Salon for 320 USD (an additional cost was added during the treatment due to the need to use more of their product) was, unfortunately, an absolute disaster: After the first wash all was gone and not only was this the most expensive keratin treatment I have ever had, but also the only ineffective one with no effect whatsoever. A few days after getting the keratin treatment, I passed by the Viselli Salon to show them and let them know about the failed hair treatment. Their response was to direct me to contact the person who had performed the treatment the previous week over the phone/text instead (which I did). She suggested that I wait to see if the keratin treatment would show some effect after an additional amount of time, which unsurprisingly did not happen... I have never treated myself to such an expensive hair treatment and will definitely never do it again at Viselli. I have had other previous keratin treatments which all worked nicely and got my hair shiny and healthy. I really do not know what it is that they are missing in this hair salon, but I would definitely recommend looking for keratin treatments elsewhere. read more

Leslie cut my hair. I needed a trim and asked Leslie to add some angling and she also suggested some layers which I agreed to. Leslie was so nice and had plenty recommendations when I was unsure of what I wanted! I left the salon feeling very pleased with my haircut. She gave me a fun curly hair dry. I washed and air dried my hair a day later, it's naturally wavy, and it also looked great then. Unfortunately today was my first time straightening my hair since the cut and I realized just how unfortunate the angling and layers look together. I don't know much about hair so maybe hair can't be angled and layered at the same time, but Leslie was the one who suggested layering after I asked for some angling so I assume it's possible. In my opinion it looks horribly uneven and choppy. Good thing hair grows out and it still fits in a bun! No harm no foul, just won't be returning. read more

I'm not happy about my recent haircut and would like to show pictures to see if this is what the salon considers good quality. The cut was $95, but only 5-10 minutes max was actually spent on the cut. When my hair was still straight and wet, the stylist cut straight across, and took about 6 sections of hair to "add layers". She then took the edge of her scissors to add "face framing layers" to both sides of my face. She went straight to blowdrying and styling my hair without ever checking the cut when it was dry and straight. I didn't say anything during the cut because I assumed she would dry it and make additional cuts where needed. I'm very disappointed with the results. I had a bad experience at another Boston salon (Acote) so I did a lot of research looking into the best salons in Boston and looked through all the Yelp reviews to find the best stylist. While the actual haircut was disappointing, the entire staff at Viselli was very kind and had great energy. The salon was very clean and the team takes COVID very seriously which was great to see. read more

I'm new to Boston and to this salon so trusting a new stylist in a new city for a short hairstyle is a little terrifying. However, I felt like I was in good hands having Leslie do my hair. She gradually cut my hair short making sure I was comfortable with the length and always confirmed that we were on the same page on how much to cut. I showed her a few pictures on my Pinterest board of what I was looking for and she executed it perfectly. She was also really knowledgeable and gave me good tips on how to manage my hair until my next haircut. I couldn't be happier with the cut she gave me. As far as the salon goes, it was clean and there were plastic curtain dividers between the chairs but most customers were seated every other chair. Alejandro is a life saver! He completely fixed a huge mistake I made with my hair and left me looking flawless! I am a brunette naturally and have been slowly going blonde on my own at home. One night I spontaneously decided to put some purple (what I thought was temporary dye) in my hair and when I started washing it out realized it was actually semi-permanent. Yikes!!!! I still was on a quest to get the perfect blonde and now I was further behind then I had expected to be. Luckily, I had gone in for a trim at Visellis and met Alejandro. After noticing my split ends and hearing my story, he recommended I go home and repair my hair. Gave me some product and scheduled me a color correction. I did exactly as he told me to and came back a few weeks later with super healthy hair.
